Rogers

Billie Evelyn Rogers, 77, Altus, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, at the Crestview Memorial Park in Wichita Falls, Texas, under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home.

She was born Sept. 13, 1927, in Montague County, Texas, to Robert and Naomi (Mitchell) Hogan. She graduated from Wichita Falls High School. She married Frank D. Rogers in Wichita Falls in 1946. To this union, two daughters were born. She worked as a bookkeeper for Southwest National Bank and First National Bank in Wichita Falls for several years. She was a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed boating and loved to spend time with her family. She was a member of the Wichita Falls PTA and a long time member of the Grant Street United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents and a brother, Bob Hogan.

She is survived by her daughters, Sue L. Bryant and husband Mitch of Eldorado and Sheila Rogers of Reno, Nev.; a sister, Adelle Smithson and husband Bernie of Lubbock, Texas; a brother, Dwight Hogan and wife Arlene of Wichita Falls, Texas, and a sister-in-law, Beth Hogan of Lubbock, Texas.

Hamby

Alma (Wall) Hamby as born Jan. 7, 1948 in Geary. She was a longtime resident of the Midwest City/Del City area before moving to Altus in October 2002. She worked for the Civil Service at Tinker Air Force Base for more than 10 years. She also attended Rose State College in Midwest City. She was medically retired from Civil Service in 1994 after surviving several strokes. She was a resident of English Village Nursing Home.

Hamby enjoyed being around her family which included 11 brothers and sisters as well as her children, grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Regardless of her health, she was always in attendance at the yearly family reunions held in Texas and Oklahoma. One of her biggest joys at the family reunions was singing. It was traditional for the family to pull out songbooks and sing for hours. The day always ended with the family making homemade ice cream.

Continuing to deal with the effects of several strokes, it became evident that she would need assistance to take care of herself. In October 2002, she decided to move to Altus so that she could be closer to her grandsons. She was involved in their lives as much as her health would allow. Her favorite time with her grandchildren was during the holidays and birthdays. She enjoyed seeing the expressions their faces as they opened that new gift.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Bertha "Lovella" Wall and father Otis J. Wall; two brothers, William "Bill" Wall and Otis "O.J." Wall; and two sisters, Amanda "Mandy" Spikes and Bertha Davidson.

She is survived by her daughter, Clorissa "Yvette" Berfield of Altus; sons, Derald Hamby of Midwest City and Anthony "Tony" Hamby of Texas; son-in-law, Norman Berfield Sr., of Altus; daughter-in-law Amy Hamby of Midwest City; grandsons, Norman Berfield Jr., and Nicolas Berfield of Altus; granddaughters, Kaylee King of Midwest City and Shelby Hamby of Oklahoma City; sister, Sara Humphrey of Del City; brothers, Ronald "Ronnie" Wall of Oklahoma City, David Wall of Pineville, La., Francis "Lewis" Wall of Oklahoma City, Jimmie "Lawrence" Wall of Duncan, Harley "Dale" Wall of Del City and Richard "Butch" Wall of Oklahoma City. She is also survived by a brother-in-law, several sisters-in-law, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, in the Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel in Watonga. Interment will follow at the East Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Greenfield. Local arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

Wilson

Mae LaVerne (Russell) Wilson died Nov. 26, 2004.

Born on Sept. 28, 1928, in Hobart, Wilson used her God-given gifts in many ordinary and extraordinary ways. In addition to being a Cub Scout den mother to all three of her sons, the family seamstress, a Sunday school teacher and a military wife, she was also a homeroom mother, sometimes serving two classes simultaneously.

She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Hobart. Later, she was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Hobart where her children also attended. Serving Jesus Christ and caring for her family were among the things that brought her the most joy. She enjoyed laughter and had a wonderful sense of humor.

Before retiring she was employed by CR Industries of Hobart.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lille Mae Russell; sister, Pauline Prough; brothers, Elmer and James C. Russell.

She is survived by a daughter, Kathy Schlachtenhaufen and husband Mark of Edmond; sons Robert and wife Sharon of Mangum, Jerry Wilson and wife Karen of Mangum and David Wilson of Amarillo, Texas, former husband Glenn Wilson of Chandler, Ariz.; two sisters, Ruth Wilson and husband Royce of Edmond and Thelma Carter of Edmond. She also is survived by five grandchildren, one great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank Community Hospice of Oklahoma, Frontier Hospice and St. Anthony Hospital for giving their mother loving, compassionate care.

Funeral services for Mae LaVerne Wilson will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, at the First Baptist Church in Hobart with Marty Adkinson officiating.

Interment will follow in Hobart Rose Cemetery under the direction of People's Cooperative Funeral Home in Lone Wolf.

Hunt

Frank Hunt, 53, of Altus, died Friday, Nov. 26, 2004, at his home. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, at Kincannon Funeral Home. A graveside committal of his cremated remains will follow at 1 p.m. at the Celestial Gardens Cemetery in Cyril under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

He was born June 24, 1951, in Chickasha to O.L. (Sonny) and LaVern (Kemp) Hunt. He graduated from Altus High School and continued his education at Southwestern Oklahoma State College in Weatherford. He entered the United States Army in March 1976 and was honorably discharged in April 1979. He married Lea A. Lynch in November 1984 in Walters. He was an alcohol and drug counselor for New Hope of Mangum. He was also the Southwest Oklahoma coordinator for Mothers Against Drunk Drivers Red Ribbon Campaign. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Altus. He enjoyed sports, attending church and his involvement in the M.A.D.D. organization.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Heather Lynn Hunt; and a son, Joshua Hunt. He is survived by his wife, Lea Hunt of Altus; three sons, Levi J. Hunt of Altus, Christopher Hunt Churchill and Jeffery Hunt Churchill, both of Tampa, Fla.; two grandsons and many friends.

Wilson

Jimmy Lee Wilson, 62, of Altus, died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2004, at Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, at Kincannon Funeral Home with the Rev. George Lupton officiating. Military honors will precede the burial at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.

He was born April 10, 1942, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Forrest F. and Vivian D. (Dimmit) Wilson. He graduated from Valley High School in West Des Moines. He entered the United States Air Force in July 1960 and was honorably discharged in July 1964 with the rank of Airman 2nd Class. He married Darlene Benight on June 14, 1963, in Altus while stationed at Altus Air Force Base. Two children were born of this union. Jimmy was an agent for Banker's Life and Casualty Insurance in Altus until 1966, worked at Republic Gypsum in Duke until 1969, was assistant manager of the Altus Sirloin Stockade until 1971 when he moved to Davenport, Iowa, to manage another Sirloin Stockade until his retirement in 1973 due to health considerations. He and fellow veteran Ernest Hopkins were instrumental in organizing the original Altus D.A.V. chapter in 1977. He was also active in the Odd Fellows organization. He was of the Methodist Faith, collected clocks, enjoyed golf, poker, fishing and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Forrest Floyd. He is survived by his mother, Vivian D. Wilson of Des Moines; wife Darlene Wilson of the home in Altus; one daughter and son-in-law, Darla and Frank Antonsen of Warner Robins, Ga.; one son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Sandra Wilson of Altus; one sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Gary Lewallen of Des Moines; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Patricia Wilson of Des Moines, and Michael and Patty Wilson of Des Moines; and four grandchildren, Jimmy and Katlin Wilson, Amber Payne and Heather Antonsen.

Keesee

Alta Lou Keesee, 85, of Amarillo, Texas, died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2004.

Services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, at the Bushland Baptist Church in Bushland, Texas, with Brother Raymond Bowlin officiating.

She married Lowell Lee Keesee on April 13, 1934 in Oklahoma and retired from High Plains Baptist Hospital. She was a homemaker and a great cook. She was a member of Bushland Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lowell Lee Keesee; twin sons, Roy and Troy Keesee; and several brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her daughter; Becky Loveless and husband Tracy of Amarillo; son Rick Keesee of Bushland, Texas; sister, Edna Brewer of Blair; brother, J.D. Bruce and wife Jane of Longview, Texas; grandchildren, Shannon Hunter and husband Frank; Brenda Rogers and husband Danny, and Kayla and Amber Keesee; and great-grandchildren Shinndiah Hunter, Mariah Hunter, Becca Rogers and Dalton McKillip.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell Ave., Amarillo, Texas, is in charge of arrangements.

Head

Kenneth Mint Head, 83, of Mangum, died at his home Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004. He was born on Nov. 7, 1921, in Mangum to Harold Mint and Pearl Maude (Wharton) Head.

On Nov. 13, 1949, he and Jane Bevis were united in marriage at the Central Christian Church in Hobart. He served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater during World War II and in the Korean War. He worked for Wharton Body Shop and later was employed with the U.S. Postal Service and Southwestern Bell.

As a lifelong resident of Greer County, he was a member of the Kiwanis Club, Friendship Bowling League and the Greer County Men's Bowling Association. He was also a longtime member of Central Christian Church.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years Jane Head of the home; daughters, Carol Ann Dennis and husband Tommy of Cushing and Lora Jane Head of Attica, Kan.; brother, Joe Head and wife Aline of Mangum; and a granddaughter, Kristin Beitz and husband Mark.

Head was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Harold Head; and one sister, Mary Ruth Aldridge.

Funeral services for Kenneth Head are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004 at Riverside Cemetery with Don Ross officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Greer Funeral Home in Mangum.
