GERALDINE DIXON

Geraldine Dixon, 65, of Okmulgee died Jan. 29, 2002 in the local hospital. She was born July 5, 1936 in Dustin, Okla., to Clarence and Maggie Mae (Bowie) McDade Sr.

She grew up in Okmulgee where she attended Dunbar High School and was a faithful member of the New Salem Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board, the Mission and the choir. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.

Survivors include her children, Judy Thompson and Sharon and Otis O'Neal of Okmulgee, George Earl Johnson and Marvin C. McDade of Tulsa, Dexter Tyrone McDade and Bruce L. McDade of Okmulgee; her brother, Ben Earl McDade of Okmulgee; sisters, Mattie Lyons and Corine Allen of Okmulgee and Mary Behn McDade of Los Angeles; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild along with other relatives and friends.

Service of Memory will be Saturday, Feb. 2 at 2 p.m., at the New Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Willie Antwine officiating. Burial will follow in the Vernon Cemetery at Vernon, Okla., under direction of the Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc. Nephews will serve as casketbearers.

Visitation will be Friday from 10 a.m., until 7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m, until 12 noon at the funeral home.

MARY FERN ROGERS

Mary Fern Rogers, 85, of Henryetta died Jan. 30, 2002.

Arrangements are pending with Shurden Funeral Home of Henryetta.

WILLIAM HARCOURT THOMAS

William Harcourt "Bill" Thomas, 75, of Perry, died January 28, 2002. He was born September 10, 1926 to David and Eula Thomas. He graduated from Perry High School in 1943. He married the former Willa Jean Adams on April 22, 1944. He served in the Army Air Corp during World War II and was a 1949 graduate of Oklahoma A&M College.

He was the Tulsa Division Manager for Public Service Company of Oklahoma until his retirement after 30 years of employment. He then was Assistant Director of the Tulsa Port of Catoosa and retired after 10 years of service.

Survivors are his wife, Willa Jean Thomas; four children, Connie Beth Bass, Irvine, CA and Cathy Streight, Mike Thomas and Susan Hammond, all of Tulsa, and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and only brother, David Thomas.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 31, 2002 at Grace Hill Cemetery. Rev. Tim Boggess will officiate. Arrangements are under direction of Brown-Sisson Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

ILETHA JOHNSON

Iletha (Sissy) Johnson, former Okmulgee resident, died Jan. 21, 2002. She was born April 3, 1920 in Vernon, Okla., to Soloman and Creme Fennell Stevenson Black.

She moved to Oktaha, Okla., at an early age where she attended school and married Willie H. Johnson. She moved to the Blackjack Community and joined Blackjack Missionary Baptist Church, then settling in Taft, Okla. She loved to fish, quilt and care for her children. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, James Stevenson, Claudia Stevenson, Elsberry Stevenson, Mamie Stevenson, Sherman Black; one son, Leonard Jackson; granddaughter, Patricia Jackson; and three stepdaughters, Willie Mae Grayson, Elvira Escoe and Francis Ennis.

Survivors include four sons, Joy Jackson and wife Warnella of Wichita, Kan., Earnest Johnson and wife Renette of Wichita, James H. Johnson and wife Meredith of Long Beach, Calif., and John H. Johnson and wife Debra of Olathe, Kan.; two daughters, Geneva Lewis and husband Wilbert of Okmulgee and Mable Pope and husband Ronnie of Taft; two brothers, Marshall Black and wife Alice of Bluejacket and Walter Black and wife Marjorie of Wichita; daughter in law, Ardie Jackson of Taft; a step-son A. L. Johnson of Muskogee; 21 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Jan. 28, under direction of the Ragsdale Funeral Home of Muskogee.

FANNIE WEIESNBACH

Fannie V. Weiesnbach, 76, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002 in Okmulgee. She was born on Monday, June 8, 1925 in Tulsa to Charles and Blanche (Bailey) McCarthy.

In 1944 she married Charles Weiesnbach in Tulsa. A resident of Okmulgee for the last five years she was a retired apartment manager in Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and three brothers.

Survivors include four sons, Charles T. Weiesnbach of Tempe, Ariz., John Weiesnbach of Henryetta, Mike Weiesnbach of Mesa, Ariz., and Samuel Weiesnbach of Keystone, Okla.; three daughters, Blanche Griffin of Okmulgee, Barbara Freand and Tonya Lynn Weiesenbach of Tempe, Ariz.; six brothers, Charles and Jim McCarthy both of Oakhurst, Okla., Earl, Silas and Steve McCarthy of Tulsa, and George McCarthy of Beggs; four sisters, Blanche Hatfield of Prescott, Ariz., Erma Williams of Owasso, Stella Carroll and Barbara Jo McCarthy both ol Tulsa; 17 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at the Green-Acres Funeral Home in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 30, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Local arrangements are under direction of the Shurden-Kelley Funeral Home.

BESSIE JANEWAY

Bessie Janeway, Sallisaw, OK (formerly of Henryetta) died Friday, January 25, 2002. She was born in Mansfield, Ark., to Willard and Mary (Easley) Hattabaugh.

She was a practical nurse with the Heath Care Industry. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Janeway; two sisters, Addie Connors and Izetta Owens and a brother, Richard Hattabaugh.

Survivors include two nephews including Jonny Owens of Dewar; and four nieces including Joyce McKnight of Henryetta.

Services were held Jan. 28 at 2 p.m., at Westlawn Cemetery with Rev. Jack Vance officiating. Arrangements were under direction of the Shurden Funeral Home.

CLIFFORD DOANE

Clifford A. Doane, 90, a resident of Okmulgee died in Sapulpa on Sunday, January 27, 2002. He was born in Beaver County, Oklahoma to George and Nora (Hasted) Doane on July 21, 1911.

He and his family moved to Major County near Enid in 1922. He was affiliated with a furniture store in Enid for four years. In 1937 he was employed by Oklahoma Natural Gas Co. Clifford retired in 1974 after 36 years with the company. In 1948 he was transferred to Clinton and in l951 was transferred to Okmulgee as a sales representative. He joined the Lions Club in 1949 and had been an active member ever since, having held many offices and was its president in 1965. Clifford was responsible for the Lions Pancake Sale annually being the top ticket salesman for many years. He was a member of the Okmulgee Chamber of Commerce and served on the agriculture committee. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Okmulgee and served as an Elder and Board Chairman two times and as an Emeritus Elder. He married Ethel Wilson in l935 in Bronson, Kansas.

Survivors include his wife Ethel and two daughters Carol Jean Doane Argo of Tulsa and Doris June Doane Kent of Tinley Park, III., one son Jimmy A. Doane of Sapulpa, ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the First Christian Church in Okmulgee or the Lions Service Foundation in care of the funeral home. Visitation was Monday from 12-8 p.m., at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home.

Funeral services were Tuesday, January 29, 2002 at 10 a.m. at the First Christian Church with Rev. Charles Green and Rev. Russell Casey officiating. Burial was in the Okmulgee Cemetery under direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home.

L. M. 'BILL' CLARK

L.M. "Bill" Clark, 91, a resident of Morris since 1913, died on Saturday, January 26, 2002 in Okmulgee. He was born on Wednesday, May 4, 1910 in Oklahoma City to James M. and Louisa M. (Oelgeschlager) Clark.

He retired in 1958 as co-owner of Clark's Market and Grocery. He was a member of the Morris United Methodist Church, a member of the Morris Masonic Lodge and a 32nd Degree Mason. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Robbie Clark in 1967, daughters, Billie Louise Clark and Judy McCart in 1998 and three sisters.

Survivors include his son, Thomas M. Clark of Morris; daughter, Mary Helen Heck of Morris; three sisters, Edna F. Garrett of Shawnee, Mary Belle Rode of Dallas, and Helen Irene Hoffman of La Guna Beach, Calif.; brothers H.F. "Hank" Clark of Bixby; eight grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2002 at the Morris United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gary Wilburn officiating. Burial followed at the Morris Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bud Reynolds, Dave Reynolds, Floyd Sharp, Ralph Johnson, Jerry Holland and Lynn Cook. Services were under direction of the Shurden-Kelley Funeral Home of Okmulgee.

WILLIAM L. JONES

William L. Jones, 79, of Henryetta died Jan. 28, 2002. He was born Dec. 24, 1922 in Porum, Okla., to Roy L. Jones and Ethel Burns Jones.

He was married to Sarah Imal Jones on Aug. 4, 1962 in Roswell, N. M. He was a retired coal miner and laborer. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Air Force. He was a member of the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his wife Sarah on Aug. 4, 1989.

Survivors include a son, Roy Lee Jones of California; two daughters, Sheila Hammons and Judy Chester; two stepsons, Frank Jones and Ray Jones, both of San Clemente, Calif.; four stepdaughters, Louise Madsen and husband Gerald of Arkansas, Virginia Barton of Henryetta, Yvonne McLaughlin and husband Roxie of Henryetta and Imogene Whitlock and husband Steve of Okmulgee; one brother, Clarence Jones of Pecola, Okla., and a number of grandchildren and step-grandchildren.

Services were held Tuesday, Jan. 29, at 2 p.m., at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Weleetka under direction of the Shurden Funeral Home.

THELMA CARPENTER

Thelma Carpenter, a Henryetta resident, passed away on Friday, January 25, 2002 at the age of 69.

Services are pending with the Rogers Funeral Home.

Gene A. Grace

Gene A. Grace, Beggs, died Sunday, January 20, 2002 in Glenpool. He was 68. Mr. Grace was born September 27, 1933 in Dania, Florida to Leonard A. and Alpha Omega (Watford) Grace. He married Hazel McCall on May 1, 1967 in Winterhaven, California. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and had retired from being an aircraft electrician. After retirement they moved to Beggs from San Diego in 1976. He was a member of the Spring Bluff Church and had been a Mason.

Mr. Grace was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel, of the home, a son, Eric Grace, of the home, a sister, Doris McDaniel of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 26, 2002 at the Clark-Brumley Complex Gym. Officiating will be Reverends Joe Lewis and James Williams.Interment will follow in the Beggs Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Eddie King, Charles Selmon, Howard Antwine and Marvin Tottress.

Friends may visit the funeral home from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. on Friday. Services are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Beggs.
