Reva J. Bookout

Reva Jo Bookout, 74, of Checotah, died Sunday, January 20, 2002 in Muskogee. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 23, 2002 at the Checotah First Free Will Baptist Church officiated by Brother Herbert Smith and Rev. D. Van Washington. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery under the direction of the Smith Funeral Home of Checotah.

Mrs. Bookout was born April 1, 1927 in Soda Springs, Oklahoma to John Willis and Lela (Borum) Barber, Sr. She had lived in this area all of her life . She was a Deputy County Clerk at the McIntosh County Clerk's Office for twenty-four years. She was a life time member of the Checotah First Free Will Baptist Church, a member of Rebekahs, and the Woman's Auxiliary.

She is survived by one son: Larry Bookout and his wife Jan of Beggs, OK. and one daughter; Pam McAdoo and her husband, Rick of Checotah. One brother; Bill J. Barber, of Poteau, OK. Three sisters; Ruth Ramsey of Checotah, Neda Farrar and Theda Stone both of California. Six grandchildren and two Great- grandchildren. Mrs. Bookout was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Alvie (Shorty) Bookout in Oct. of 1997, and one brother; John W. Barber, Jr. April of 2001. Casketbearers for the service will be Grandsons & Nephews.

Chester Arthur Adams

Chester Arthur "July" Adams, 80, of Beggs, died Friday evening, January 18, 2002 at Okmulgee Memorial Hospital. He was born January 25, 1921 in Beggs to Washington and Grace (McIntosh) Adams. He worked at OSU Okmulgee and enjoyed playing bingo, trap shooting and football. "July" graduated from Beggs High School and then moved back to Beggs in the early 1970's. His parents and one brother Leo Adams preceded him in death.

Survivors include a daughter, Paula Allen, a sister, Marcelle Douglas and a granddaughter, all of Detroit, a step-granddaughter of Beggs and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 26, 2002 at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel in Okmulgee. Interment will follow in the Tuskegee Cemetery in Beggs under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home in Beggs.

FORREST LINDSAY BROWN

Forrest Lindsay Brown, 83, of Perryville, Arkansas, former of Beggs, OK, died Thursday, January 24, 2002. He was born December 14, 1918 in Tahlequah, OK, a son of Joseph Albert Brown and Minnie Jane Barnes Brown. He was a retired welder for Phelps-Dodge Company and a member of First Baptist Church in Beggs.

Survivors include his son Gilbert Brown of Tucson, Arizona; two daughters, Delores Bull of Perryville, AR and Sharon Maddux of Reno, Nevada; a sister, Lillie Hyde of Phoenix, AZ; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton, Arkansas.

NORMAN BELDEN

Norman L. Belden 58, a resident of Okmulgee, died in Tulsa Tuesday, January 22, 2002. He was born on March 8, 1943 in Inola, Oklahoma to Alfred and Irene (Conder) Belden. He married Barbara Thompson in Okemah, Oklahoma on December 14, 1963. They resided in Tulsa for three years, then moved to Morris for fourteen years, before moving to Okmulgee. He was a machinist and had worked for Nelson Electric for twenty-eight years and at the present time for Norberg Industries in Tulsa. He attended the Calvary Baptist Church and was a long time member of the I.B.E.W. His father preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife Barbara Belden of the home, two daughters Tina Marie Belden-Holland and Lori Rechelle Belden both of Okmulgee, his mother Irene Belden, a brother Jimmy Belden of Tulsa and five grandchildren.

Services will be on Friday, January 25, 2002 at 11 a.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church. Rev. Lawrence Matlock will officiate. There will be no visitation. The family requests memorial be made to the Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund or the Youth Group. Arrangements are being made by McClendon-Winters Funeral Home.

Elvia Maye Erivin

Elvia Maye Erivin, 66, a resident of Liberal, KS and a former resident of Okmulgee, OK passed away, Saturday, Jan. 19th in Wichita, KS. She was born October 7, 1935 in Okmulgee county to Homer and Mae Ella (Dixon) Morgan.

She was a retired elementary school teacher in Liberal ,Kansas. and was affiliated with the Order of Eastern Star. She was a member of the New Testament Baptist Church, Liberal, KS.

Preceeding her in death are her parents, one sister and one brother.

Survivors include, her husband of 44 years, John B. Erivin, Liberal, KS, one son, Jonathan Erivin, Tulsa, OK, one daughter, Anita Merrihew, San Francisco, CA, six brothers, Elzia Morgan, Sacramento, CA Lawrence Morgan, Haskell, OK, Rendell Morgan, Muskogee, Homer Morgan III, Larry Morgan and Jerry Morgan, all of Tulsa; four sisters, Erma Jean Johnson, Josephine Carruthers, Harriet Morgan, all of Tulsa, and Beatrice Jones, Killen, TX; 3 grandchildren, with numerous relatives and friends.

Service of memory will be Friday, at 1 P.M. in the Eastside Baptist Church, 217 N. Osage St. Okmulgee, OK with her pastor, Rev. Solomon Ross, officiating. Interment will be in Sharps Memorial Garden under the direction of the House of Winn Funeral Home. Visitation, Thursday, 12 Noon until 6 p.m.

Letha Jewell Kennedy

Letha Jewell Kennedy a resident of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma formerly of Henryetta was born Wednesday, July 17, 1907 in Charleston, Arkansas to Roscoe Jewell and Mary Ella (Ellis) Jewell. She passed away Monday, January 21, 2002 at the age of 94 years, 6 months, 6 days.

She was preceded in death by her husband Delmer Kennedy on April 2, 1988, 2 daughters, Mary Helen Jobe and Faye Cochron.

Survivors include 2 sons, Bob Kennedy and wife Wanda of Fresno, California and Dr. Delmer Don Kennedy of Corona Del Mar, California. 2 daughters, Gayle Conger of Broken Arrow and Sharon Harjo and husband Paul of Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Mrs. Kennedy was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Henryetta.

Services will be held Friday, January 25, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Church of The Nazarene in Henryetta officiated by Rev. Larry Koch and Rev. Jack Vance. Burial will be at the Westlawn Cemetery in Henryetta under the direction of the Shurden Funeral Home.

Gladys E. Pelky

Gladys Elmeta Pelky, 74, a resident of Okmulgee died in Okmulgee on Monday, January 21, 2002. Mrs. Pelky was born in Okemah, Oklahoma, on April 23, 1927 to Floyd J. and Josie (Hooper) LeMay. She moved from Okemah to Okmulgee in 1990. She was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Okemah, Her parents, a son Miles Wayne Pelky and a brother, Elmer Floyd LeMay preceded her in death.

Survivors include a daughter Mary Ellen Southwick and her husband Harold of Okmulgee, a son, Edward M. and his wife Carolyn Pelky of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, four grandchildren and ten great great- grandchildren.

Graveside services were Thursday, January 24, 2002 at Highland Park Cemetery in Okemah, Oklahoma at 2 p.m. Rev Carl Clay will officiate Visitation was at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

Robert Paul Hudson

Robert Paul Hudson, Okemah, passed away Saturday morning, January 19, 2002 at Seminole Medical Center. He was born Tuesday, June 10, 1941 in Preston, Oklahoma to Cal and Viola (Turney) Hudson. Mr. Hudson worked as a Truck Driver, enjoyed fishing and drawing. Mr. Hudson was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Clyde and Kenneth and a sister, Jean and a son Brian.

Survivors include four daughters Lisa Wind and husband Joe of Okemah, Susie Maschek of Broken Bow, Cully Hudson and Faith Hudson both of Edmond; two sons Paul Hudson Jr. of Okmulgee and Caleb Hudson of Edmond; a sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Bob Blanche of Okmulgee, a brother, James Hudson of Okmulgee, and a sister-in-law, Mary Hudson of Broken Bow.

Funeral Services were held at 2:00 p.m. today at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel in Okmulgee with Pastor Paul Dodson officiating. Interment was at the Okmulgee Cemetery under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home in Okmulgee.

Alta Robinson

Alta Gyrene Robinson, of Broken Arrow and formerly of Henryetta died January 17, 2002 at Broken Arrow. She was born Monday November 25, 1929 in Dewar, Oklahoma to Charles "Clyde" Sharp and Disa (Wakefield) Sharp.

She was married to J.D. Robinson on March 2, 1946 in Okmulgee. She was a Correspondence Clerk with Oral Roberts Ministries and retired in the early 1990s. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Eugene Sharp. She was a member of Broken Arrow Assembly of God.

Survivors include her husband J.D. Robinson of Broken Arrow. One son, Gary Robinson and Cynthia of Broken Arrow; one daughter, Linda Teague of Tulsa, two grandsons and two sisters-in-law, Dolores Sharp and Vallie Mason, both of Henryetta.

Services will be held Wednesday, January 23, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at the Dewar United Pentecostal Church officiated by Rev. Matthew Martin and Rev. M.D. Deal, assisting. Burial will be at the Westlawn Cemetery in Henryetta under the direction of the Shurden Funeral Home.

Chester Arthur Adams

Chester Arthur Adams of Beggs passed away Friday evening, January 18, 2002 at Okmulgee Memorial Hospital. He was 80. He was born January 25, 1921.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.

Rev. Leroy R. VanAntwerp II,

Rev. Leroy R. VanAntwerp II, 34, died Thursday, January 17, 2002 due to a plane crash in Temple, Texas.

He is survived by his wife of thirteen and a half years, Laura-Lee, and his two sons, Leroy III, age 9, and Tyler, age7, his father Leroy, Sr., and wife Linda of Crystal River, Florida. He is also survived by his mother, Carolyn Gilstrap and her husband Phil of Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Other family includes a half brother, Danny Hodge of Tulsa, Oklahoma, a step brother, Curtis Mize of Middleburg, Florida and a step sister, Angie Schutz of Ocala, Florida.

Leroy was a member of the Crosstown Pentecostal Holiness Church until 1988. Leroy graduated from Okmulgee High School in 1985. He attended Oral Roberts University from 1985 till 1988 where his double major was church ministries/evangelism. in 1987 Leroy met his wife to be at O.R.U. who was also a student there. In August of 1988 they were married. The couple moved to Crystal River, Florida where Leroy worked for his dad at USA Financial services/Universal Service Associates, the later USA Credit Bureaus.

Leroy was very involved in Faith Assembly in Crystal River, then New Life Christian Center, a Norvel Hayes church in Crystal River, Florida. He was a volunteer Youth Pastor until 1991.

In 1991, Leroy and Laura-Lee moved to Corpus Christie, Texas to begin full time ministry as a principal of a Christian school at Tabernacle of Praise Church. There he served as the administrator of their Bible School and Youth Pastor.

In 1994 Leroy and family moved to New Mexico to Full gospel Tabernacle to serve as Associate Pastor with Pastor Mike & Elaine Skidmore. In 1995 he took over as the Youth Pastor of Tuesday Night Live changing the name to Powerhouse. Leroy & Laura-Lee served for seven years. In July 2001 Leroy & Laura-Lee and the boys moved to Texas City, Texas to serve as High School Youth Pastor for Abundant Life Christian Center in La Marque with Pastors Walter and Cindy Hallam having only been here six months.

Funeral services will be held at Abundant Life Christian Center, 601 Delany Road, in La Marque on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Graveside services to be held Thursday in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Memorial services will be held on Saturday in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico at Full Gospel Tabernacle.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Okmulgee Cemetery under the direction of McClendon-Winters Funeral Home.

ARZELLA M. RODGERS

Arzella Mae Rodgers, 80, former resident died Jan. 15, 2002 in Oklahoma City. She was born Aug. 5, 1921 in Eufaula to Eva (Williams) and Joe Reeves.

She married Noble Rodgers on Jan. 25, 1942 in Okmulgee and worked as a nurse for 24 1/2 years. She was a member of the Armour Heights Freewill Baptist Church in Ft. Smith, Ark., and later attended the Second Baptist Church in Okmulgee. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1980, her parents, a daughter, Pamela Ann Rodgers, three granddaughters and one great-grandson.

Survivors include three children, Faye Walker and Stanley Rodgers of Holdenville and Noble Eugene Rodgers of Seneca, Mo.; a sister, Lois Hobbs of Van Buren, Ark; two brothers, Prentice Reeves of Alma, Ark., and Marvin Reeves of Wichita, Kan.; six grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 18 at Oak Cemetery in Fort Smith with Rev. Gilbert Pixley officiating. Arrangements are under direction of the Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home of Holdenville.

DAISY JOHNSON

Daisy Johnson, 83, of Dewar died Jan. 17, 2002 in Okmulgee. She was born May 13, 1918.

Arrangements are pending with Shurden Funeral Home of Henryetta.

ODELL WILLIAMS

Odell Williams, 84, of Henryetta died Jan. 16, 2002 at Henryetta.

Arrangements are pending with Shurden Funeral Home of Henryetta.
