James Scott Murphy
James Scott Murphy, 43, of
Lexington, Oklahoma, died Saturday, June 5,
2004 in Lexington, Oklahoma. Funeral
Services will be held at 10:00 A.M.,
Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at Havenbrook
Funeral Home Chapel in Norman with
Reverend Steve Lance officiating. Services
are under the direction of Havenbrook
Funeral Home of Norman, Oklahoma.
James Scott Murphy was born on
August 13th 1960, in Norman, Oklahoma.
He was known as Scotty to those who loved
him. Scotty and his brothers grew up in the
construction business. He lived and breathed
construction until his final breath on Saturday, June the 5th 2004. As
the smallest, youngest, and the only blonde in a family of brunettes,
Scotty was always easily spotted when he bounced around in a dump
truck, tried to driver a bulldozer before his feet could reach the
pedals, or scaled the big rubber tires on the huge pieces of
construction equipment
that formed the foundation of his professional life. He worked for his
dad in Joe Murphy Construction until he was out of high school and
then he and his middle brother, Joey, branched out with Murphy
Brothers Construction. He later became a "storm chaser" with his own
Done Right Construction and spent many miserable months cleaning
up after hurricanes, tornadoes, and floods on the Southern and East
Coasts. Most recently he returned to Oklahoma to be near his 10 year
old son, Lucas and started Scott Murphy Construction.
Scotty leaves behind his beloved son, Lucas, who has been the
light of his life since the day he was born ten years ago. He also
leaves behind his Dad, Sister and two Brothers. Scotty's devoted
mother, Betty, left us in May 1998. Scotty was Joe and Betty
Murphy's youngest son and youngest of their four children. Scotty
was ten years younger than his big sister, Diane, even though he
insisted on calling her, "Baby Sister," six years younger than Ron, and
4 years younger than Joe, Jr. or Joey.
Scotty left us too soon at the age of 43. We miss him.
