WAHLEHA MAXEY

Wahleha Ann (Sissy) Maxey 65, a resident of rural Beggs died in Tulsa on Thursday, December 27, 2001. She was born in Oaks, Oklahoma on October 19, 1936 to Joe and Elizabeth (Johnson) Wofford.

She married Donald Maxey Sr. in 1957. She was a member of the Eastern Star in Kansas, Oklahoma. Her parents and two brothers Todd Wofford and Joe E. Wofford Jr. preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband Don Maxey of the home; three sons Donald Maxey Jr. of Wagoner, David Maxey of Lenapah, Oklahoma and Doug Maxey of Preston; one brother Dwight Wofford of Culbert, Oklahoma and a twin sister Wahilla Adams of Locust Grove, Oklahoma and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, December 29, at 2 p.m., at the First Baptist Church in Beggs. Jim Waller will officiate. Burial will be in the Beggs Cemetery under direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home in Beggs.

Pallbearers will be Clayton Moore, Terry Wofford, Patrick Taylor, Rick McElroy, Mike Maxey and Eric Owen.

Visitation will be Friday from I until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

CECILE GLISMANN

Cecile Glismann, age 100, died Monday, December 24, 2001 at Okmulgee Hospital. Born near Carrington, Missouri, she was the daughter of Walter and Alice McIntosh.

She had lived in Okmulgee since 1918 and after graduating from Okmulgee High School, attended Christian College in Columbia, Missouri. In 1953 she married Leroy Glismann. She was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters and a brother.

She is survived by one nephew and three nieces.

Her employment career included working for W.B. Pine, U. S. Senator from Okmulgee and as a court reporter. Cecile wrote several articles on court proceedings and Indian history for the Tulsa World newspaper. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and was instrumental in establishing the Okmulgee Humane Society.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2001 at the First Baptist Church conducted by Frank Lewis, following a private family graveside service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Okmulgee Humane Society in care of Kelley Funeral Home. Arrangements are under direction of Kelley Funeral Home.

ELGIN MILLER

Elgin Miller, longtime Beggs resident, died at his home at the age of 71. He was born January 8, 1930 in Nuyaka to Arthur and Pearl Goldie Miller.

He served his country in the Korean War and received the Military Purple Heart. In June 2000 he toured Korea with his unit as a reunion, which was sponsored by a Congressional Special Department. He enjoyed hunting and reading. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Elgin Earl Miller, two sisters, Cecil Mae Goudeau and November Harris, and six brothers, William, Arthur, Nathaniel, Theora, Raymond, and Baby Miller.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Miller of Raleigh, NC, a step-son, Chester Ray of Tacoma, WA, a sister, R Q. Miller of St. Louis, MO., a brother, Telon Miller of Okmulgee, two granddaughters and a grandson.

Funeral services were held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 27, at the First Baptist Church South in Beggs with Reverend James Williams and Reverend Joe Lewis officiating. Burial was scheduled to be at 1:00 p. m. Thursday at the Ft Gibson National Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Beggs.

MAGGIE LEE MURRAY

Maggie Lee (Brownfield) Murray, 82, of Okmulgee died Dec. 25, 2001 in Okmulgee. She was born Nov. 24, 1919 in Centrahoma, Okla., to John Henry and Laura Sue (Miller) Brownfield.

She married Bernard Charles Murray of Henryetta who died in 1974. She was a member of the Four Square Church and a home provider. Her parents, two brothers, two sisters, and two grandsons preceded her in death.

Survivors include four daughters, Linda McKay and Yvonne McElhannon of Okmulgee, Peggy Boatman and husband Charles of Houston,Texas and Joan Chism and husband Mike of Tulsa; a brother, Clarence Brownfield of Okmulgee; 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and three foster great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Friday, Dec. 28 at 2 p.m., at the Okmulgee Cemetery with Rev. Odell Carpenter officiating.

Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 27 from 11 a.m., until 8 p.m., at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home.

EDLENE GRANDFIELD

Edlene Grandfield, 66, formerly of Okmulgee and a retired hairdresser, died Dec. 22, 2001 in Fort Worth, Texas. She was born Aug. 5, 1935 in Arlington, Texas and moved to this area where she lived for 30 years before returning to Texas.

Survivors include a son, Brad Rodgers and wife Gloria; a granddaughter and a sister, Betty Rodgers, all of Midlothian, Texas.

Funeral services were held Dec. 26 at Moore Funeral Home Chapel in Arlington, Texas and burial was in Moore Memorial Gardens in Arlington.

PAUL EUGENE KENNEDY

Paul Eugene Kennedy, 66, of Okmulgee died Dec. 26, 2001 at his home. He was born Oct. 9, 1935 in Okmulgee, the son of Lawrence and Dollie (Johnson) Kennedy.

He graduated from Dunbar High School and attended Langston University, Oklahoma State University and Central State University. He also served with the United States Army. He worked at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City and after his retirement he moved to Okmulgee in 1980. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include a daughter, Sherry Jones of Wichita, Kan.; three grandchildren; a sister, Melba J. Kennedy of Wichita and other relatives and friends.

Funeral arrangements are pending with the Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc., of Okmulgee.

ROSETTA WILSON

Rosetta "Tut" Wilson, 65, of Okmulgee died Dec. 26, 2001 in a Tulsa hospital.

Arrangements are pending with The House of Winn Funeral Home.

GEARY LEE VANLOON

Geary Lee Vanloon, 54, died Thursday December 13, 2001 in Shawnee. He was born November 16, 1947 in Ada to J.L. and Joyce (Northoutt) Vanloon.

Geary attended Okmulgee Public School and was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Korea. He was a member of the V.F W. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and a sister, Darlene Newell.

Survivors include his mother, Joyce (Vanloon) Coverdill and Ed Coverdill of Okmulgee; his father, J.L. Vanloon of Arlington, Texas; a sister, Deborah Peterson of Willspoint, Texas; a brother Jerry Vanloon of Arlington, Texas, and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held 3:00 p.m. Thursday, December 20, 2001 at the Okmulgee Cemetery Veteran's Circle with Reverend Jack Vance officiating.

Military Rites will be conducted by V.F.W. Post 1189 of Okmulgee and V.F.W. Post 539 of Henryetta. Arrangements are under direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.

LEONA DONATHAN

Leona Gertrude Donathan, longtime Wilson resident, died Monday morning, December 17, 2001 at the age of 88. She was born December 14, 1913 in Jackson County, Alabama to Ralph Alan and Paralee (Culver) Howell.

Her family moved to Okmulgee County when she was an infant. She attended Preston School and married Bluford Donathan on July 26, 1933 in Bristow. Mrs. Donathan attended to the ranch with her husband, and enjoyed crocheting, quilting, and sewing. She was a member of the Wilson Baptist Church and the Wilson Thimble Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bluford in 1996, an infant daughter, Trilive, eight brothers and sisters, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Survivors include three sons, Dr. Russell Donathan of Glenpool, Dr. Pete Donathan and wife Kay of Sapulpa, and Dale Donathan and wife Fran of Wilson; two daughters, Darlene Bartolina and husband Don of Edmond, and Glenda Vance and husband Joe of Wilson; a brother, Walter Howell of Winfield, Kansas; two sisters, Inez Weaver of California and Martha Graves of Tahlequah; eighteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December l9, 2001 at the Wilson Baptist Church with Reverend Jack Vance officiating. Burial will follow in the Wilson Salt Creek Cemetery with grandsons serving as Casketbearers.

Friends may visit the funeral Tuesday evening. Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.

RONALD E. FREW

Ronald Eugene "Ronnie" Frew, 73, of Henryetta died Dec.14, 2001. He was born Nov. 4, 1928 in Henryetta to John B. Frew and Albena Bodzek Frew.

He was a mobile home salesman and insurance adjuster for many years. He wa a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving with the United States Air Force, and a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He graduated from Henryetta High School with the class of 1946. He was preceded in death by his father, John B. "Jaby" Frew.

Survivors include four children, Randy Frew, Andy Frew, and Sandy Frew of Tulsa and Lou Frew of Atlanta, Ga.; his mother, Albena Frew of Henryetta; two brothers, Johnny Frew of San Antonio and Jimmy Frew of Houston and other relatives and friends.

Services were held Monday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m., at Shurden Chapel. Burial was in Westlawn Cemetery under direction of the Shurden Funeral Home.

WILLIAM MEYER

William "Bill" Donald Lee Meyer, 63, of Henryetta died Dec. 15, 2001 in Henryetta. He was born July 5, 1938 to Walters, Okla., to Carl Meyer and Ethel May Bernar.

He managed the R.E.C. in Walters and Seminole. After leaving Seminole he moved to Henryetta where he became manager of the Henryetta Health Clinic from 1982 until 1990. From 1993until 1998 he was owner/manager of Home Health Care for Eastern Oklahoma, Inc. His parents and a daughter Gerri Yarbro preceded him in death.

Survivors include his daughter, Kathy Ables and husband Ronnie; two sons, William Thomas Meyer and Kenneth Meyer, all of Walters; 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many friends and other relatives.

Services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Dec.19, at the Rogers Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at the Meyer-Davis Ranch under direction of the Rogers Funeral Home of Henryetta.
