Jordan Marie Nelson
Jordan Marie Nelson, 17, of
Norman, Oklahoma, died Thursday, June 3,
2004 in Norman, Oklahoma. A Mass of
Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M.,
Monday, June 7, 2004, at St. Mark The
Evangelist Catholic Church with Reverend
Thomas Boyer and Reverend John
Metzinger, celebrant. A Wake Service will
be held at 8:00 P.M., Sunday, June 6, 2004 at
St. Mark The Evangelist Catholic Church in
Norman. Interment will follow at the
Hillside Cemetery in Purcell, Oklahoma.
Services are under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home of
Norman, Oklahoma.
Jordan was born April 2, 1987 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma,
to Janis Raye (McReynolds) and Randal Wayne Nelson. She was an
honor student at Norman High School and was involved in numerous
school activities including Varsity Pom 2002-2004 and serving as
Captain of the Norman High School Pom Squad 2004-2005. She was
also a member of the French Club, Young Life and FCA (Fellowship
of Christian Athletes). Jordan was a member of St. Mark The
Evangelist Catholic Church.
Jordan was preceded in death by her father, Randy and
paternal grandparents, G.B. and Katie Maxine Nelson. Survivors
include her mother, Jan Nelson of the home; sister, JulieAnne Nelson;
brother, Joseph Randal Nelson, all of Norman; maternal
grandparents, Jack and Marilyn McReynolds of Purcell, Oklahoma;
numerous cousins, other relatives and friends.
A Memorial fund has been established in Jordan’s name at Republic
Bank of Norman.

Robert J. Rowan
Robert J. Rowan, 87, of Norman,
Oklahoma, died Wednesday, June 16, 2004
in Norman, Oklahoma. A Vigil will be held
at 7:00 P.M., Sunday, June 20, 2004, at
Havenbrook Funeral Home in Norman. A
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at
10:00 A.M., Monday, June 21, 2004 at St.
Joseph Catholic Church, 211 N. Porter in
Norman, Oklahoma with Reverend Edward
Menasco, celebrant. Interment will follow
at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in
Norman, Oklahoma. Services are under
the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home
of Norman, Oklahoma.
Dr. Robert John Rowan was born on April 10, 1917. Robert
was the second son of Dr. William A. Rowan and Ethel Rowan of
Chicago. He grew up in the south side of Chicago eventually
following in his father's footsteps by becoming a dentist. Bob
attended Our Lady of Peace grammar school and Leo High School.
Graduating from Northwestern University's School of Dentistry, Bob
was inducted in the service in 1943. His army record included duty at
Camp Rucker, Alabama, Fort Jackson, S.C., and two years of
overseas time in England, France and Germany with the 98th General
Hospital. At the end of World War II, he returned home to Chicago
to set up private practice in Southeast Chicago. After a number of
years in private practice, Robert returned to the army becoming a
career army officer. Over the following years in the army, he served
as a dentist and administrator in Germany, Ft. Hood, Texas, Fort Dix,
New Jersey, 5th Army Headquarters in Chicago, Seoul, Korea, Fort
Knox, Kentucky, Fort Riley, Kansas, Okinawa, Japan and the
Pentagon in Washington, D. C. Over the years, he was honored for
superior work and received many awards such as the Army
Commendation Medal for outstanding service at 5th Army
Headquarters in Chicago and later as the commanding officer of the
665th Medical Detachment and dental surgeon of the 7the Logistical
Command in Seoul, Korea. Forced to retire after a massive heart
attack, he settled in Norman, Oklahoma in 1970. He retired as a full
Colonel from the army.
Coming to Norman, Robert chose to devote his time to those
less fortunate by working at the Cleveland County Health Department
and volunteering his time and talents to the J.D. McCarty Center in
Norman. A member of the "Forty and Eight", a veteran’s
organization, and a board member of the Center, he was instrumental
in the building of the new Cerebral Palsy Center. "Doc" was a
beloved member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He had been active
over the years as a lector and a participant in other church activities.
He was an avid golfer and bowler and remained active for many
years, participating in golf tournaments and bowling leagues.
Dr. Rowan was preceded in death by his brother Tom Rowan.
He is survived by his brothers Dr. William A. Rowan of Chicago,
James Rowan of Virginia and Father Gerald Rowan of Wichita,
Kansas; and by his sister Shirley Schultz. He is also survived by his
wife of 61 years, Lurline; one son, James of Oklahoma City; two
daughters, Alice Magaha of Berryville, VA. and Patricia Shiloh of
Moshav Yaad, Israel. He had eight grandchildren, Ethan, Assaf, Iris
and Noa Shiloh; Sarah and Daniel Rowan; Chelsea and Megan
Magaha.

Frances Elizabeth Walker
Frances Elizabeth Walker, 57, of
Norman, Oklahoma, died Monday, June 14,
2004 in Norman, Oklahoma. Memorial
Services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Thursday,
June 17, 2004 at McFarlin Memorial United
Methodist Church, 419 S. University Blvd in
Norman, Oklahoma with Reverend Trevor
Smith officiating. Services are under the
direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman, Oklahoma.
Ms. Walker was born June 6, 1947, in Carlsbad, California,
to Hugh and Margaret (Donnelly) Walker. She graduated from Lake
Elsinor High School in California in 1965. She moved to Bartlesville,
Oklahoma in 1973. Frances attended the Tri-County Vo-Tech in
Bartlesville, graduating from the nursing program there. She moved
to Estes Park, Colorado and worked as a nurse at the Timberline
Medical facility from 1989 to 1999. She moved to Norman,
Oklahoma in 1999 and worked in Dr. Carol Anderson’s Medical
office in Norman until her death. Frances was a member of the Red
Hat Society and was a member of McFarlin Memorial United
Methodist Church in Norman.
Ms. Walker was preceded in death by parents. Survivors
include three daughters, Caryn Ross and husband, Jack, of Norman,
Sunday Godfrey and husband, Bruce, of Baltimore, MD, and Molly
Lloyd and husband, Ron, of Nellis A.F.B., Las Vegas, NV.; and five
grandchildren; Jackson Ross of Norman, MollyAnne Lloyd of Nellis
A.F.B, Las Vegas, NV, Caytie Ross of Norman, Samuel Godfrey of
Baltimore, MD and Madison Lloyd of Nellis A.F.B., Las Vegas, NV.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Nursing
Scholarship fund, c/o Frances Walker Memorial Fund at the
Republic Bank of Norman.

Gladys D. (Pérez) Williams
Gladys D. (Perez) Williams, age 88, of Norman, Oklahoma,
died Friday, June 4, 2004 at her home in Norman. Graveside Service
will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 8, 2004 at Warren Cemetery
in Norman with Jerrel Henderson, officiating. Arrangements are
under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman.
Mrs. Williams was born on February 28, 1916 in Mayaguez,
Puerto Rico to Manuel and Isabel Maria Perez. She grew up in
Puerto Rico and received a degree in Education from the University
of Puerto Rico. Mrs. Williams then taught school in Puerto Rico for
a short time before moving to the United States. She married Lonnie
E. Williams on July 30, 1939 in New York City, New York. In 1947,
they moved to Norman where they lived and raised their two children.
She was a charter member of Boyd & McGee Church of Christ
known today as Westside Church of Christ. She was a volunteer at
Norman Regional Hospital for many years and a member of the
Oklahoma Mineral and Gem Society. She enjoyed sewing and
traveling. Mrs. Williams was a loving and caring wife, mother,
grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend.
She was preceded in death by parents; a brother, Henry Pérez;
and sisters, Marie Christina Pérez, Patria Pérez and Blanca Stafford.
She is survived by her husband, Lonnie E. Williams of the home; son,
Elton M. Williams and his wife Margaret of Norman; daughter,
Dolores A. Williams of the home; brother, Jose Pérez of Muskogee;
sisters, Isabel M. Wright and Olga Zavala and her husband Martin of
Galveston, Texas; five grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
