RUDOLPH HOLMES

Rudolph Holmes, 67, a former resident of Grayson, OK and a resident of Oklahoma City, died Wednesday, September 12, 2001 in an Oklahoma City hospital.

Survivors include his mother, Delilah Durham, Okmulgee, along with other relatives and friends.

The body will be cremated.

FRED DAHL

Sigfred "Fred" Thomas, 62, of Okmulgee died Sept. 9, 2001. He was born Feb. 24, 1939 in Port Angeles, Wash., to Sigfried and Margaret P. (Lopthein) Dahl.

He married his wife Gay on Dec. 5, 1970. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a resident of Preston since 1971. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Beverly Sorenses.

Survivors include his wife, Gay of the home; four sons, Fred Dahl of Port Angeles, Wash., Waylon Dahl, Rock Hinds and Charles Hinds, all of Preston; a daughter, Carla Massery of Preston; one brother, Harold Dahl of Port Angeles; two sisters, Margaret Kerr of Tacoma, Wash., and Ruby Jones of Panama Beach, Fla.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 11 at the Ft. Gibson National Cemetery with Pastor Dale Litsey officiating. Arrangements were under direction of the Kelley Funeral Home.

KENNETH RAY JONES

Kenneth Ray Jones, 78, of Henryetta died Sept. 9, 2001. He was born July 23,1923 in Francis, Okla., to Ada and William Walter Jones.

He worked for the Frisco Railroad for 34 years and for Cunningham Oil Company. He served as a deacon in his church and taught Sunday School with his wife for many years. He married Virgie West on Aug. 22, 1942 in Purcell, Okla. He was preceded in death by his parents and baby brother.

Survivors include his wife, Virgie Jones of the home; a son, David and wife Julie Jones of Tulsa; a daughter, Kay and husband Larry Chumley of Claremore; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and two brothers, Rev. Loyd Jones of Oklahoma City and Paul Lynn Jones of Ft. Gibson.

Funeral services were scheduled for 2 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 11 at the Henryetta First Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Paslay officiating. Burial was in the Westlawn Cemetery under direction of the Rogers Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Brad Wells, Josh Jones, Jonathan Jones, David Black, Stanley Cowen, Kent Taylor, Junior Peters, Bobby Bartolina and Carl Parks.

WILLIAM CRAWFORD JR.

William Arnold Crawford Jr., 44, of Okmulgee died Sept.9, 2001 in an Oklahoma City Hospice Unit. He was born Aug. 17, 1957 to William Crawford Sr., and the late Martha (LeBlanc) Crawford.

Survivors include his father, William Arnold Crawford Sr., of Okmulgee; brothers, Martin Anthony LeBlanc of Chicago, Jerry T. LeBlanc of Tulsa, and Edgar Hanson and Larry Simpkins of Okmulgee; sisters, Deborah K. Walston and Janice Hubbard of Tulsa, Linda B. Jefferson of Okmulgee, Martha S. Crawford of Las Vegas, Nev., and Annette Crawford of Nashville, Tenn.; eight nephews and nieces and a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Sept.12, at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery in Okmulgee.

JOSEPHINE PORTER

Josephine Evedna Porter, 67, of Okmulgee died Sept. 5, 2001 in the local hospital. She was born Aug. 17, 1934 in Okmulgee, the daughter of John and Leatchie M. (Brigham) White.

She grew up in Okmulgee and graduated from Dunbar High School with the class of 1953. After high school she attended Langston University. She lived in Denver, Colo., and Romulus, Mich., as well as Oklahoma City before returning to Okmulgee. She worked as a secretary and was a member of the Shorter Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church.

Survivors include her son, Delano Bratcher of Oklahoma City; her brothers, Ralph White of Okmulgee, James White of Miami, Fla., and Johnny White of Inkster, Mich.; her sisters, Blondell Butler and Louise Bell of Romulus, Mich., and Ernestine Thompson of Canton, Mich.; along with other relatives and friends.

Service of Memory will be at 10 a.m., on Wednesday, Sept 12, at Shorter Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church with Rev. J.C. Williams officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery under direction of the Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc., of Okmulgee.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 10 a.m., until 6 p.m. at the funeral home.

YANNAH HAYNES

Yannah F. Haynes, 89, of Henryetta died Sept.10, 2001 at Henryetta. She was born Nov. 11, 1911 in McIntosh County.

Arrangements are pending with Shurden Funeral Home of Henryetta.

TED VERNON PERDUE

Ted Vernon Perdue, 70, former Okmulgee High School Principal, died Sunday, September 9, in Sand Springs as a result of an automobile accident. He was born June 24, 1931in Oklahoma City, the son of Allie and Faye Sutton Perdue.

He was a graduate of Capitol Hill High School, Central State University, and had earned his Ph.D in education from Oklahoma State University. Ted served in the United State Marine Corp during the Korean conflict. He married Norma Jean Haddad January 24, 1954 in Boynton. They were both educators and he was principal leaving Okmulgee in the late 1970's. The family was active in all school and civic activities and were members of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer. The couple made their home in Claremore since 1978. Norma died September 5, 1991. Ted retired in 1990 as Principal of Oologah High School. He was a member of both the Oklahoma and National Education Associations, the Claremore Elks Lodge, and the Heritage Hills Men's Golf Association and the Oklahoma Men's Senior Golf Association. He served on the Board of Trustees for the Claremore Heritage Hills Golf Course. He was an active member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. His favorite pastime was the time he spent with his grandchildren and family. His father Allie Perdue and wife Norma preceded him in death.

Survivors include his son Ted Perdue, Jr. of Grand Prairie, TX; daughter Shari and husband Rick Borth and their two children of Denton, TX; his mother Faye Pruitt of Atoka; brother Ralph and his wife Peggy Perdue of Heavner; and many friends.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Dr. Clifford R. Horvath officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery under direction of the Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Funeral Service of Claremore.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1310 N. Sioux, Claremore, OK 74017 or the Claremore Cardiac Rehabilitation Center, c/o Claremore Regional Hospital, 1202 No. Muskogee Pl., Claremore, OK 74017.

Dolly Payne

Dolly Payne, 92, a resident of Okmulgee for over 60 years, died Monday, September 10, 2001 in Okmulgee. She was born on Saturday, January 23, l909 at Ft. William, Ontario, Canada.

She worked for the Okmulgee Hospital as a medication aide and at age 88 she took classes to receive her United States Citizenship. She was preceded in death by her husband, Seward Payne in 1998; one son, Roy Bradford, and one daughter, Margaret Ann Bell.

Survivors include one son, Robert Dewey Pugh of Centerline, Michigan, one daughter, Lily Edith Blair and husband, Bob of Okmulgee; 10 grandchildren; 27 great- grandchildren; and two great- great- grandchildren.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 13, 2001 at the Okmulgee Cemetery. The Rev. Steve Duclous will officiate. Arrangements under the direction of the Kelley Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Wednesday, September 12, from 2:00 p.m., until 8:00 p.m.

ELI DOCK

Eli Dock, 90, of Henryetta died Sept. 9, 2001 at the St. John Medical Center in Tulsa. He was born Feb. 15, 1911 in Rose Lane, Kan., to John and Amy (Longerot) Dock.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II. He married Leona Rachel Roberts and worked for the Midland Valley Railroad for 35 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 1998, a sister, Amy Smith and three brothers Johnny, Jewels and Frankie Dock.

Survivors include a brother, Raymond of Pittsburg, Kan., a niece Dolores Merciez of Pleasant Valley and her daughter, Debbie Wells, and a host of other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Graveside services were held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 11 at the Okmulgee Cemetery with Brother George Christy officiating. An honorary casketbearer was his buddy, J. J. Barrow of Schulter. Arrangements were under direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.

JOSEPH COWANS

Joseph Cowans, 79, of Okmulgee died Sept. 3, 2001 in a Tulsa hospital. He was born June 1, 1922 in Preston to Carl and Mamie (Smith) Cowans.

He was a retired Okmulgee Police Officer and also worked as a construction laborer. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.

Survivors include two sons, Floyd Cowans and Curtis Cowans, both of Tulsa; two daughters, Scorra Robinson and Sherry Wallace, both of Tulsa; three brothers, Amos Cowans, Jessie Cowans, both of Okmulgee and David Cowans of Denver, Colo.; several grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.

Service of Memory will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 8 in the Precious Memories Chapel. Burial will be in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery under direction of the House of Winn Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Friday from12 noon until 6 p.m.

LOUIS D. DIXON

Louis D. Dixon, 50, of Tulsa died Sept. 3, 2001in a Tulsa hospital. He was born Feb. 16, 1951in Okmulgee to Jimmie Lee and the late Oscar Dixon.

He graduated from Okmulgee High School with the class of 1970. He served with the United States Army from 1971 until 1973 and again from October 1975 until November of 1983. After his service he worked for the United Postal Service as a postman. He was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church of Okmulgee.

Survivors include his wife JoAnn Smith of Tulsa; his mother, Jimmie Lee Jeffrey of Okmulgee; his children, Louis Dixon Jr., Dwight Dixon, Jimmy Dixon, Tonya Dixon, and Joyce Dixon, all of Houston, Texas, Heather Dixon of Longview, Texas and Iesha Dixon of St. Louis, Texas; three stepchildren; 15 grandchildren; brothers, Douglas Dixon, Elton Dixon, and Elroy Dixon, all of Tulsa, Delroy Dixon of Eola, Mo., Delton Dixon of Detroit, Michial Dixon and Willie Dixon of Plano, Texas and Alvin Dixon of Okmulgee; sisters, Linda Bryant of Okmulgee, Jeanette Edwards of Restland, MI and Alfreda Porter of Wichita, Kan.; along with many other relatives and friends.

Service of Memory will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 8 at the Macedonia Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery under direction of the Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc., of Okmulgee.

Visitation will be Friday from 10 a.m., until 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

DENETRA LEWIS

Denetra Lewis, 25, former Okmulgee resident, died Aug. 31, 2001 at her home in Sapulpa. She was born July 22, 1976 in Okmulgee.

She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her mother, Etta Cooks and her grandmother, Clarice Lewis.

Survivors include a brother, Eric Cooks and a sister, LaToya Cooks, both of Tulsa; her maternal great-grandmother, Earnestine Lewis of Okmulgee; paternal grandparents, Lloyd and Mary Ann Tarkington of Okmulgee; a close aunt, Cheryl E. Cooks of Tulsa and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Service of Memory will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 8 in the Precious Memories Chapel with her uncle, Rev. Jerry Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery under direction of the House of Winn Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Friday from12 noon until 6 p.m.
