ROGER DALE JONES

Roger Dale Jones, 54, longtime Henryetta resident, died Sept. 2, 2001 at Tulsa. He was born June 21, 1947 at Henryetta to Bill King and Juanita West.

He was married to Glenda (Lynne) Card on Sept. 27, 1993 in Fort Smith, Ark. He was an avid birdwatcher and loved sports. He was also known for his cooking ability and loved gardening.

Survivors include his wife, Glenda of the home; two sons, Roger Dale Jones and Casey Jones of Henryetta; two brothers, Dale King of Tucson, Ariz., and David King of Henryetta; two sisters, Carolyn of Tulsa and Sheralyn of Prescott, Ariz.; four step-sons, Rodney Lillard of Tahlequah, Randy Lillard of Minnesota, Ricky Lillard of Chicago and Robbie Lillard of Tulsa; two grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Danny King and grandmother, Rhoda West.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m., at the Robert Simons Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lowell Churchill officiating. Burial will be in the Fisher Family Cemetery under direction of the Robert Simons Funeral Home.

Casketbearers will be Billy Brown, Dean Yingling, Nick Sanford, Dan Artussee, Ronald Ellis, Shawn Kramer, James Mayes and Jerry Mayes.

ROYCE TREADWELL

Royce E. Treadwell, 77, died Sept. 4, 2001 at his home in Henryetta. He was born March 25, 1924 to Tom and Mary Ann Treadwell.

He served with the United States Navy during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Dunlap Treadwell of the home; two daughters, Cindy and Mike Ludwick and Tracy and Paul Dean, all of Tulsa; three brothers, Bruce Treadwell of California, A.J. of Texas and Willie Treadwell of Kelleyville, Okla.; a sister, Laverne Gale of Henryetta; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Friday at the Robert Simons Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at the Gibson Family Cemetery at Haskell under direction of the Robert Simons Funeral Home.

ROGER LEE BRITT

Roger Lee Britt, 55, longtime resident of Okmulgee died Sept. 3, 2001 at Norman. He was born Oct. 3, 1945 in Henryetta to George Washington and Ethel (Kidwell) Britt.

Survivors include a daughter, Melanie Schmidt; two sons, Roger Don Britt and Sean Britt, all of Washington; a sister, Jackie Paden of Muskogee; two brothers, Jimmy Dale Britt of Henryetta and Jerry Don Britt of Dewar; eight grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Burial will be Friday at 2 p.m., in the New Sonora Cemetery with Rev. Paul Lay officiating. Arrangements are under direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.

JOSEPHINE PORTER

Josephine E. Porter, 67, of Okmulgee died Sept. 5, 2001 in the local hospital.

Funeral arrangements are pending with the Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc., of Okmulgee.

WILLIAM HENDRICKS

William Gunter Hendricks, 78, of Tahlequah died Sept. 4, 2001 at Tahlequah. He was born Oct.11, 1922 at Woodall, Okla., to Richard and Nellie (Matthew) Hendricks.

He served with the United States Army during World War II and after his tour of duty, Gunter returned to Tahlequah where he was a carpenter. He was a Gold Card Holder with the International Professional Rodeo Association and the only Gold Card Holder of the Tahlequah Round-Up Club. He worked for the Leon Frakes Omaks Rodeo Company and the Bailey and Hall Rodeo Company for over 35 years. His last rodeo was a 1986 benefit for his grandson, Roy Dell Barnes. He was a crossing guard for the Tahlequah Public Schools and a member of the Okie Arkie Trailriders.

Survivors include two daughters, Nita Sue Barnes and Laura Coles and husband Ronnie of Tahlequah; stepson, Jerry McNeil of Hulbert; a sister, Joyce Raley of Okmulgee; two brothers, Henry Hendricks of Tahlequah and Earl Hendricks of Shadduck; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Richard and Charley Hendricks and two sisters, Mary Hendricks and Clara Henderson.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Reed-Culver Funeral Chapel with Rev. Charles Keim and Rev. Glen Rowan officiating. Burial will follow in the Hendricks Cemetery under direction of the Reed-Culver Funeral Home of Tahlequah.

RAINY DAVIS

Rainy Davis, 35, of Okmulgee died Sept. 4, 2001 at the University Hospital in Oklahoma City. She was born May 26, 1966 in Clinton, Okla., to Bobby and Paula (Clark) Ford. She grew up in Roosevelt, moving to Elgin at an early age where she attended schools. She married Strap Davis on Feb.2, 2000 in Okmulgee and had lived here for the past two years.

Survivors include her husband, Strap Davis of the home; two sons, David Duncan and Sam Duncan, both of Lawton; one daughter, Lavender Shea of Florida; her mother and step-father, Paula and Larry Kendall of Fletcher, Okla.; her father, Bobby Ford of Roosevelt, Okla.; and four brothers, Bobby Paul Ford of Fletcher, Henry Lee Ford of Antioch, Okla., Mike Kendall of Fletcher and Greg Kendall of McCloud, Okla. She was preceded in death by two infant brothers, two grandfathers, a grandmother and an uncle.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday at the Roosevelt Cemetery in Roosevelt, Okla. Burial will be under direction of the Hackney-Gish Funeral Home of Hobart.

BETTY ARMSTRONG

Betty Armstrong, 89, a resident of Morris, died Sept.4, 2001 in Norman.

Services are pending with the Kelley Funeral Home.

DENETRA LEWIS

Denetra Lewis, 25, former Okmulgee resident, died Aug. 31, 2001 at her home in Sapulpa. She was born July 22, 1976 in Okmulgee.

She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her mother, Etta Cooks and her grandmother, Clarice Lewis.

Survivors include a brother, Eric Cooks and a sister, LaToya Cooks, both of Tulsa; her maternal great-grandmother, Earnestine Lewis of Okmulgee; paternal grandparents, Lloyd and Mary Ann Tarkington of Okmulgee; a close aunt, Cheryl E. Cooks of Tulsa and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Service of Memory will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 8 in the Precious Memories Chapel with her uncle, Rev. Jerry Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery under direction of the House of Winn Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Friday from 12 noon until 6 p.m.

IRENE TAYLOR BURRELL

Irene Taylor Burrell, of Hanna, died Sept. 2, 2001. She was born Aug. 31, 1917 in Hanna to Sam and Ethel Taylor.

She graduated from Hanna High school in 1933 and was a member and president of her Eastern Star Chapter. After high school she worked in the family-owned Quality Meat Market and worked briefly as a reporter for the Indian Journal. She also worked in ladies fashions at Brown & Duncan in Tulsa and as a saleslady at Neiman Marcus in Dallas. She was showroom manager for Oscar Burrell/Couture Apparel from 1964 until 1981in the Dallas Apparel Mart.

Survivors include two sons, Oscar Kirby Burrell Jr., of Dallas and Sam Taylor Burrell of San Antonio; four grandchildren; a brother, Sam Taylor Jr., of Arlington, Texas; a brother-in-law, Dan Burrell of San Francisco; a sister-in-law, Mazie Burrell of Henryetta and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Kirby Burrell.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Hanna Cemetery with Rev. Rick Robard officiating. Burial will be under direction of the Rogers Funeral Home of Henryetta.

Memorial donations can be made to the Scottish Rite Children's Medical Hospital, Dallas, Texas.

JOHN DRAKE JR.

John Drake Jr., 46, died Sept. 3, 2001 in a Tulsa hospital. He was born Nov. 27, 1954 in Yuba City, Calif., to John B. Drake Sr., and Doris Heffley.

He was a longtime resident of Okmulgee County, moving to Henryetta in 1991. He was married to Linda Gann on Oct. 2, 1992 in Fort Smith, Ark. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lindsey Drake.

Survivors include his wife Linda Gann Drake of the home; two daughters, Marcie Fleming and Marissa Luallen, both of Okmulgee; four sons, Marcus Luallen of Okmulgee, Noah Drake of Henryetta, Nathan Golden of Seattle, Wash., and Jon Adams of Hartman, Ark., one stepson, Wade Gann of Edgerton, Kan.; one grandson; one step-grandson; four brothers, Bryan Drake and Billy Drake, both of Tulsa, Darwin Drake of Fairfield, Calif., and Kevin Drake of Columbia, Mo.; and one sister, Lola Baker of Fairfield, Calif.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Friday at the Robert Simons Funeral Home Chapel in Henryetta.
