ALICE M. DELSO

Alice Margarette Delso, 89, of Henryetta died July 31, 2001 in Tulsa. She was born Nov. 23, 1911 in Ft. Stockton, Texas to Charles Jesse Curry and Lucy (Dacy) Curry.

She was married on Feb.19, 1936 to Dan Delso in Henryetta. He preceded her in death, along with two sons, Charles Sheward and Billie Arnold Delso. She was a member of the Schulter Methodist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Wilma Cummings and husband Bob of Sapulpa and Doris Cabrera and husband Luis of Carlsbad, N.M.; 10 grandchildren; 17great-grandchildren and a sister, Lucille White of Corpus Christi, Texas.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m, Thursday, Aug. 2 at the Shurden Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George Christy officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery under direction of the Shurden Funeral Home.

ELSIE SCHUMACHER

Elsie Ruth Schumacher, 80, of Bixby and formerly of Okmulgee died July 29, 2001 in Tulsa. She was born Feb. 27, 1921 in Marlow to V. J. Carson and Alvena Pennebaker Carson.

She graduated from high school in Duncan and from Central State University. She married William Schumacher on Dec 25, 1943. She taught at Verden before moving to Okmulgee. She taught third grade and conversational Spanish in the Okmulgee Public School system before going to Oklahoma State University Technical College where she was head of the Business Department until her retirement.

Survivors include her husband William of the home; one son, Ronald Carson Schumacher of Bristow; one daughter, Melinda Hagy of Bixby; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren as well as a host of other family and friends.

Services will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 2 at the Bixby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brad Davis and Rev. James Hayes officiating. Entombment will be at Magnolia Memorial Gardens Mausoleum at Bristow under direction of the Schumacher Funeral Home of Bristow and Bixby Funeral Service.

JOSEPH FRED DEAN

Joseph (Fred) Dean, 92, longtime Henryettan, died July 29, 2001 at St. John's Hospital in Tulsa. He was born Jan. 4, 1909 in Boonville, Ark.,to Mathey (Matthew) and Emma Dean.

Fred and his family have lived in Henryetta for some 70 years. He helped build the old original PPG Factory in Henryetta and worked there 50 years until his retirement. He worked with the WPA around Henryetta and he and is wife, Elizabeth, owned and operated Eva's Cafe in the 1940's. He also owned and operated a gas station and tire shop at the Glass Plant Crossing. They also raised cattle at Wildcat for many years. He was a member of the Cattlemen's Association and made several trips with them, including one around the world. He was a member of the Lions Club and was a charter member and organizer of the Dewar Lions Club. He was instrumental in helping Rev. Doyle Davis and the First Assembly of God Church in Henryetta see that they had their present church building. He attended the Henryetta Church of the Nazarene and was there when they began the ground work for the activity building. He attended the Dewar Assembly of God with friends and during the last three years attended the Okmulgee Church of the Nazarene with his daughter, son-in-law and great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Elizabeth; infant son, Danny Dewane Dean, son, Fred Eugene (Gene) Dean; his parents and all his brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his son, Bobby Joe Dean and wife Dorcas of North Carolina; daughters Marilyn Elaine Dean Gaither and husband John of Texas, Virginia Ruth Dean Fanner and husband Troy Fanner of the home in Wilson and Sue Dean of Milani Town Hawaii; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Aug.1 at 2 p.m. in the Henryetta Assembly of God Church with Rev. Dal Newberry officiating. Burial will be in the Westlawn Cemetery under direction of the Shurden Funeral Home.

PAULINE F. ANDERSON

Pauline Fleming Anderson, 88, of Sulphur died July 28, 2001at Sulphur. She was born Dec.27, 1912 at Bevier, Ky., to Louis Fleming and Ruth (Williams) Fleming.

She was a registered nurse in Henryetta for many years.

Survivors include one sister, Unice Nunley of Sulphur and many nieces and nephews.

Services were held at 9 a.m., Tuesday, July 31 at the Shurden Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Westlawn Cemetery under direction of the Shurden Funeral Home.

DAVID HAMMON

David Hammon, 52, a resident of Beggs, formerly of Okmulgee, died Tuesday, July 31, 2001 in a Tulsa Hospital. Funeral arrangements are pending with the Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc. of Okmulgee.

AGNES B.PALMER

Agnes B. Palmer, 89, longtime resident of Wilson, died July 26, 2001 at Okmulgee Memorial Hospital. She was born Feb. 2, 1912 in Salem, Ark., to John and Frances Floyd.

She married Perry Palmer in 1932 at Hennessey, Okla. She taught school in Arkansas at age16 and moved to Oklahoma in the late 1920's. She attended college at Ada where she graduated then taught at Wilson from the 1930's until the 60's. She was a member of the Wilson Baptist Church and Wilson Garden Club. She moved to Okmulgee in 1991 from Wilson and resided at the Baptist Village.

Survivors include two sons, Larry Palmer and wife Carolyn of Wilson and Gary Palmer and wife Esther of Tulsa; two sisters, Evelyn Merideth of Norman and Lorene Gardner of California; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Perry in 1985 and a brother, Clay Floyd.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m., Monday, July 30 at the Wilson Salt Creek Cemetery with the Rev. Jack Vance officiating. Grandsons will serve as casketbearers.

Friends may visit at the funeral home from 1until 8 p.m., Sunday, July 29.

Arrangements are under direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home.

DARSELLA BENSON

Darsella Larue Benson of Bristow, OK, died July 23, 2001 in Oklahoma City. She was born July 11, 1961 in Tulsa.

Darsella, or "Rue" as many knew her, was baptized at an early age at Tuskegee Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband Charles Greer; two daughters, LaShawnda Benson of Bristow and Ebony Greer of Beggs; a grandson Claudell McCall of Beggs, her mother LaVanda Benson of Tulsa, her father, Joseph Reason of Oklahoma City, her grandfather, James King of Slick, OK, sisters, Wanda Harris of Atlanta, GA, Adrian Taylor of Bristow, Marsha Mosley of Tulsa, Dorothy Littleton, Crystal Reason, and Dena Reason, all of Oklahoma City, Jenice Reynolds, Jacklyn Lewis, and Faye Ponder, all of Wichita, KS, two brothers, Bernard Benson, and Gerod Benson, both of Tulsa, and a special aunt, Leola Deville of Slick, OK. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 30 at 11 a.m. at the First Church of God in Bristow with Revs. Willie Antwine, Lee Benson, Maurice Williams, and Joe Lewis officiating. Interment will follow in the Durant Cemetery in Bristow.

Friends and family may visit the funeral home Sunday from 4-8 p.m.

Services are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Beggs.

STANLEY SETTLEMYRE

Stanley Settlemyre, 66, a resident of Henryetta, died Thursday, July 26, 2001 in Henryetta. Mr. Settlemyre was born on July 13, 1945 in Altus, OK to Clyde and ElReno Settlemyre.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Juanita Winners, and one brother, Frank Settlemyre.

Survivors include his wife, Lynda; six sons, Robert Settlemyre of Cushing, OK, Michael Settlemyre and wife Nerissa of Broken Arrow, OK, Clyde Settlemyre and wife Carla of Bedford, TX, John Settlemyre and wife Stacy of Coalton, OK, Jerry Freeman and wife Kim of Henryetta, OK, and Steven Freeman of Muskogee, OK; two daughters, Teresa Shurden and husband Steve of McKinney, TX, and Kimberly Wilbourn of Henryetta, OK; 19 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, as well as a host of friends and family.

Services will be held on Saturday, July 28 at the Dewar First Baptist Church, with Jack Vance officiating.

Burial will be under the direction of the Shurden Funeral Home.

PAULINE ANDERSON

Pauline Anderson, 88, of Henryetta, died Saturday, July 28, 2001 in Sulphur, OK. She was born on December 27, 1912.

Services are pending with Shurden Funeral Home.

SUSIE BELL JOHNSON

Susie Bell Johnson,85, of Beggs died July 18, 2001 in Okmulgee. She was born Feb. 7, 1916 in Jefferson County, Mo., to Zettie and Rosa Etta (Wilffly) Osborn.

She was a dry cleaner and presser for many years. She moved to Beggs from Collinsville where she had lived for several years after spending most of her llfe in Tulsa. She had been a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Beggs for 15 years and prior to that was a member of the Collinsville Assembly of God. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Joe Chilcoat in September of 2000 and eight brothers and sisters.

Survivors include two sons, Glen Chilcoat of Kiefer and Bob Chilcoat of Beggs; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and several step-children and their families.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Friday, July 20 at the First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Charlie Yandell officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Memorial Park in Tulsa. The family will serve as casketbearers.

Friends may visit the funeral home Friday from 9 a.m., until 12noon.

Arrangements are under direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Beggs.

RAYMOND Q. SWANSON

Raymond Q. Swanson, 82, longtime Beggs resident, died July 19, 2001 in Tulsa. He was born Aug. 7. 1918 in Porum to Marvin and Hattie (McClure) Swanson.

He married Savola Hughes on Aug. 8, 1970 in Las Vegas. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II and was a Prisoner Of War from December 1944 until May of 1945. He retired from the Department of Interior in 1984 where he had worked in the oil and gas division. He was a member of the Muskogee Chapter of POW's, American Legion Post of Beggs and a lifetime member of the DAV. He had attended the First Assembly of God Church in Beggs for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Savola, of the home; a son, Robert and wife Pat Swanson of Austin, Texas; a daughter, Raylene and husband Richard Kadrmas of Amherst, N.H.; a step-son, Jerry Hill and wife Shirley of Twin Hills; a step-daughter, Frankie Ferrier and husband Glen of San Jose Calif.; two brothers, Marvin and wife Sue Swanson of Broken Arrow and Jack and wife Liz Swanson of Plainview, Texas; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Lola; two brothers, Ray and Harold and his first wife, Vera.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 21, at the First Assembly of God Church in Beggs with Rev. Charlie Yandell and Arlie Carson officiating.

Burial will be in the Beggs Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Steve Hill, Bill Hill, Scott Swanson, Wendell Crook, Steve Swanson, and Tim Smith.

Friends may visit the funeral home Friday from 10 a.m., until 8 p.m. Arrangements are under direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home.

BERTHA THOMAS

Bertha Thomas,101, of Henryetta died July 13, 2001in Okmulgee. She was born April17,1900 in Grayson to George and Bell Dillingham.

She was married to Jurdy Thomas. She was baptized in the Baptist Faith at an early age.

Survivors include one son, J. T. Thomas of Los Angeles, Calif., one grandson and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 21, at the Union Baptist Church in Grayson. Burial will be in the Grayson Cemetery under direction of the Shurden Funeral Home of Henryetta.
