Sadie Margaret Bumgarner
Sadie Margaret Bumgarner of
Norman, Oklahoma died Friday, May 28,
2004 in Noble. Funeral services will be
held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, June 1, 2004 at
the McFarlin Memorial United Methodist
Church in Norman, Oklahoma with
Reverend Dick House officiating.
Interment will follow at the I.O.O.F.
Cemetery in Norman, Oklahoma. Services
are under the direction of Havenbrook
Funeral Home of Norman, Oklahoma.
Mrs. Bumgarner was born November 3, 1914 in Lindale,
Texas to Fonzo Robert and Hettie Eunice Edwards Covington. At the
age of four, Sadie traveled to Wister, Oklahoma from Texas,
accompanying her father in a covered wagon. Later she moved with
her family to the Goldsby area and graduated from Washington High
School. She attended The University of Oklahoma and received a
B.S. in education.. She married John Lee Bumgarner, Jr. on February
15, 1946 in Norman, Oklahoma.
Mrs. Bumgarner was a third grade teacher in Texas and
Oklahoma for over 30 years. She began teaching in Norman in 1956
at Adams Elementary and retired from Cleveland Elementary. She
was a longtime member of the McFarlin Memorial United Methodist
Church and had been active in the visitation ministry. She was a
member of the United Methodist Women’s Circle and the Norman
Retired Teachers Association.
Mrs. Bumgarner was preceded in death by her husband, John
in 2003; parents; one sister, Avis Wimpy; and two brothers, Bill and
Barney Covington. Survivors include daughters, Linda Lippe and
husband, Dennis of Austin, Texas, Mary June Joseph and husband
Joe of Satellite Beach, Florida; sisters, Nettie Brockhaus and
husband, James of Noble, Oklahoma, Corrine Luther of Midland,
Texas, and Lorene Harris of St. George, Utah; brothers, Burl
Covington and wife, Doris of Whittier, California and Bryan
Covington and wife, Luding of Redwood City, California; and four
grandsons, Aaron John, Tyler Joseph, and Calvin James Lippe, and
Joseph J. Joseph, III. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews,
and cousins.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to all the wonderful
caregivers of Sadie and John. You have been a true blessing to us and
will always be a part of our family.

Johnnie Beth Taylor Cox
Johnnie Beth Cox, age 64, of
Norman, Oklahoma died Thursday, May
20, 2004 in Norman. Funeral Services will
be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, May 22,
2004 at Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel
in Norman, with Reverend Rusty Tugman
and Reverend John Grant officiating.
Interment will follow Resthaven Memory
Gardens in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Family will be greeting friends and family
between 6 and 8 P.M on Friday, May 21,
2004 at Havenbrook Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Matt
Bollinger, Shane Cox, Bud Dougherty, Frank Janowski, Keith
Newsom and Orville Tate. Services are under the direction of
Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman, Oklahoma.
Johnnie was born September 13, 1939, in Carnegie,
Oklahoma to John and Fyrn (Duran) Bachlor. She grew up in
Northern New Mexico and moved to Norman in 1954. She
attended schools in New Mexico, Norman and Oklahoma City. She
was retired from the IBEW Seventh District.
Johnnie was a loving and devoted wife, mother,
grandmother and sister. She was a member Alameda Church of
Christ and the Nareme Chapter of Eastern Star. She enjoyed
reading, cross stitch, O.U. basketball and most of all, spending
time with her family.
Johnnie was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors
include her husband, Loyd, of the home, one daughter, Terri Lynn
Fowler and husband, Michael, of Norman; one step-son, Craig Cox
and wife, Robin of Shreveport, LA; two step-daughters, Kimberly
Sparks of Halton City, TX and Kelly Womack and husband, Sam
of Boonsville, TX; brother, Ted Bachlor of San Francisco, CA;
sister, Sue Dollar of Norman; two grandsons, Jonathan Fowler of
Norman, and Ryan Gage and wife, Amber of Naples, FL; step-grandson,
Jackson Cox; and three step-granddaughters, Cydnee
Cox, Lanan Sparks and Taylor Provience.

Ramona Ruth Keen Edwards
Ramona Ruth Keen Edwards, 74, of
Norman, Oklahoma, died Thursday, May 13,
2004. Memorial Services will be held at
11:00 A.M., Monday, May 17, 2004, at
First Baptist Church in Norman, Oklahoma,
with Chaplain Harry Smith officiating.
Services are under the direction of
Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman,
Oklahoma.
Mrs. Edwards was born August 4,
1929, in Ramona, Oklahoma, to Paul D. and
Elsie L. (Ware) Keen. She married John
Philip (Phil) Edwards on June 25, 1950, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, at the
Linden Street Christian Church. They lived in Oklahoma City for
two years before moving to McAlester, Oklahoma. They moved to
Norman in 1955. Mrs. Edwards was 11-7 night supervisor at
Norman Regional Hospital for thirty-eight years before retiring in
March 1993. She was known to her colleagues as “Eddie”. She was
a member of District 16 of the Oklahoma Nurses Association. Mrs.
Edwards was an active member of the First Baptist Church in
Norman. She enjoyed spending time with her family and enjoyed
sewing and crafts.
Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by her parents and
husband. Survivors include brother, John Edward Keen and wife, Jo,
of Van Buren, Arkansas; two sisters, Shirley Ann Phillips of Sallisaw,
Oklahoma and Janet Lee Brown of Dewar, Oklahoma; three sons,
John P. Edwards Jr. and wife, Teri, of North Richland Hills, TX; Don
R. Edwards and wife, Pam, of Matthews, N.C.; and Dave L. Edwards
and wife, Melissa, of Norman, OK; eight grandchildren: Heather
Saylor and husband, Chris, Justin and Chase Edwards of Matthews,
North Carolina; Matthew Edwards and wife, Toni of Tulsa,
Oklahoma; Brian and Phillip Edwards of North Richland Hills,
Texas; Josh Edwards and wife, Lindsay of Fort Worth, Texas; and
Erin Paige Edwards of Norman, Oklahoma; and two great-grandchildren,
Luke Saylor & Madeline Edwards.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Heartland
Hospice of Norman at 623 N. Porter Ave, Norman, OK 73071.

Gary Raymond Horn
September 23, 1938 - May 4, 2004
Gary Horn, 65, of Norman, Oklahoma,
and former resident of Pawnee and
Ardmore, Oklahoma died in an auto
accident on I-40 near Clines Corners,
New Mexico on May 4th 2004. His son,
Staff Sergeant Kelly Horn, USAF was
also killed in the accident as well.
Gary, the son of the late Senator
Raymond and Laverne Lucille Palmer
Horn graduated from Pawnee High School in 1956, and attended
both Oklahoma State University and Tulsa University. He married
Ee Choo Whay (Annie) of Singapore, Singapore on May 5th, 1975.
Gary grew up working for his father in the oil business. During his
time in the oil business he worked in Singapore, Indonesia, Iran,
Scotland and finally Norway where he ended his career with
Dolphin International as the manager of the three largest off-shore
rigs in the North Sea. In 1986, after retiring from the oil business
he went to work for the U.S. Postal Training Center in Norman,
OK as an instructor for the next 15 years retiring in 2001.
He was drafted into the U.S. Army and completed his military
obligation with the 12th Special Forces Group in Tulsa, OK. He
has also been a Master Mason and member of the Ancient Free and
Accepted Masons, Skiatook Lodge #416 for 44 years.
He is survived by his wife, Annie Horn of the home; 3 sons Kevin
Horn of Tulsa, OK, Major Kennan Horn, USA of Ft. Drum, New
York, and Second Lieutenant Kriston Horn, USAF of Prescott,
AZ, one brother, Jim Horn of Cleveland, OK, one sister, Brenda
Horn Blackard of Anchorage, AK, and 7 grandchildren
Gary Horn was a devoted husband, father and friend. He touched
the lives of many, and will be missed by all who knew him.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, May 10th 2004 at 11:00 am
at the Norman, Oklahoma Stake Center of the Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1506 W. Imhoff Road, Norman, OK.
Internment will follow the services at the Sunset Memorial Park
Cemetery, 2301 East Indian Hills Road. Family visitation will be
held Sunday, May 9th, 2004 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Havenbrook
Funeral Home, 3401 Havenbrook, Norman, OK. Additional
family visitation will be held Monday, May 10th, 2004, at the
Norman, OK Stake Center from 9:00-10:30 AM.
