BEN BEAVER

Ben Beaver of Morris died Tuesday, May 22, 2001at Okmulgee Memorial Hospital. He was born to Hallyamson and Miley (Alexander) Beaver in Okmulgee.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and was a dorm supervisor at Haskell Indian Junior College in Lawrence, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Louise (Chism) Beaver of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Jo Beaver of Kansas City, Mo., and Richard and Patty Beaver of Woodberry, Minn., one grandson and several nieces and nephews and other family members.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 26 at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Amos Harjo and Rev. Matthew Tiger will officiate.

LOUISE JAMES

Louise James, 75, a longtime resident of Okmulgee, died Friday, May 18 at the local hospital. She was born March 29, 1926 in the Northwest Community to A. W. and Rosie (Williams) Wilson.

She was a homemaker and longtime member of the Macedonia Baptist Church of Okmulgee. Preceding her in death were her parents, four brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years Clarence James Sr., of the home; three sons, Clarence James Jr., of Lawrence, Kan., Ronald James of Round Rock, Texas and Vincent James of Houston, Texas.; four daughters, Lois Foreman of Spencer, Okla., Priscilla Walker of Tulsa, Claudette Irvin of Atlanta, Ga., and Joyce Love of Spencer; two sisters, Velma Hall of Okmulgee and Willie Mae Reed of Des Moines, IA; two brothers, Clinton Wilson of Kansas City, Mo., and Johnnie Lee Wilson of Okmulgee; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.

A Homegoing Celebration will be held Saturday, May 26th at 11 a.m., at the First Baptist Church, Fifth and Seminole, with Rev. C. J. Jeffrey Jr., officiating.

Burial will be in Northwest Cemetery under direction of the House of Winn Funeral Home.

THEOPLIS WAYNE CRISP

Theopolis Wayne Crisp, 36 and a resident of Tulsa, passed away on Sunday, May 20, 2001 in a Tulsa hospital. He was born on March 24, 1965 in Okmulgee, the son of Theoplis Crisp, Sr., and Queen Ester (Cowans) Lewis.

He grew up in Okmulgee and later moved to Muskogee, where he attended the Muskogee Public Schools. He was a graduate with the Muskogee High School Class of 1984. He also attended Langston University, Langston, Oklahoma. He worked as a laborer and was married to the former Vanessa Taylor.

Survivors include his wife, Vanessa Crisp, of the home in Tulsa, his children, Justin, Kendra, Amber, Taylor, and Alexis, all of Tulsa; his mother, Queen Ester Lewis, Tulsa; his father, Theopolis Crisp, Sr., Tulsa; a brother, Curtis Lewis, Tulsa; a sister, Opal Lewis, Tulsa; along wlth a host of other relatives and many friends.

Service of memory will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2001 at 2:00 P.M. in the Mount Calvary Miracle Temple. Elder Johnny Magness will officiate. Funeral services are under the direction of the Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc., of Okmulgee.

HORACE WITHROW JR.

Horace "Punk" Withrow Jr., 85, of Glenpool and formerly of Henryetta, died May 23, 2001 in Glenpool. He was born Nov. 16, 1915 at Henryetta.

He was married to Lorene Mitchell on May 23, 1946 at Henryetta. He worked at Eagle Pitcher Smelter for 32 years before retiring in 1977. He was also employed at Decker foundry for eight years. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Henryetta. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lorene, brothers Jack & Ted Withrow and sister Mildred Millsap.

Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Brock and husband William of Houston, Texas and Sharon Goodner and husband Clay of Glenpool; two grandchildren; a great-grandson; a brother, Jimmy Withrow and wife Reba of Henryetta and a sister, Hazel Whit of Carmi, Ill.

Services will be at 10 a.m., Saturday at the Shurden Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Edmund Pendleton officiating. Burial will be at Westlawn Cemetery under direction of Shurden Funeral Home.

Charles T. Jones

Charles Thomas Jones, 82, died Thursday, May 17, 2001 in Okmulgee. He was born on Wednesday, January 8, 1919 in Cushing, Oklahoma to Gertrude (Beck) and Charles W. Jones.

He served in the United States Army during World War II and was a member of the Okmulgee V.F.W. Post #1189. He married Elsie (Thornburg) on March 27, 1947 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. A resident of Okmulgee all of his life he was a member of the First Baptist Church of Okmulgee. He retired after 20 years of service with McDonnel Douglas as an aircraft assembler. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, William Hudson.

Survivors include, his wife, Elsie of the home; two sons, Charles W. Jones of Broken Arrow and Thomas D. Jones of Okmulgee; two daughters, Rebecca A. Coppenger of Jenks and Ida Strain of Tulsa; three sisters, Bertha Ransom of Okmulgee, Mary Lynn of Sand Diego, California and Lucille Tudor of Dallas, Texas; fourteen grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Funeral Services were Monday, May 21, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. at the Kelley Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Dennis Taylor officiated. Burial was at the Okmulgee Cemetery.

Military rites were conducted by the V.F.W. Post #1189 of Okmulgee and Post #539 of Henryetta, who also served as pallbearers for the service.

LOUISE JAMES

Louise James, 75, a long time resident of Okmulgee, died Friday, May 18 at the local hospital.

Arrangements are pending with the House of Winn Funeral Home.

LENICE DOCK

Lenice Dock, 85, of Bristow and formerly of Henryetta died May 19, 2001 in Cushing. She was born June 10, 1915 in Melton, Okla., to John Henry Smith and Thalissie Ila (Rogers) Smith.

She was married to Jules Dock on June 3, 1935. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, Eli Dock and Bill Dock.

Survivors include three sons, Jimmy L. Dock and wife Denise of Broken Arrow, Jules Dock Jr., and wife Elaine of Eufaula and Cecil. Dock of Henryetta; three daughters, Johnnie M. Berry of Henryetta, Wanda J. Branstetter and husband H. A. of Pass Christian, Miss., and Amy L. Rich of Okmulgee; 21 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be Wednesday, May 23 at 2 p.m., at the Shurden Funeral Home Capel with Rev. George Christy officiating. Burial will be in the Westlawn Cemetery at Henryetta under direction of the Shurden Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Kenneth W. Berry, C. Scott Keller, Jason J. Dock, John Dock, Robert Knapp and Frank Wilkerson.

JETTIE YOUNGBLOOD

Jettie Youngblood, 69, of Okmulgee died May 20, 2001 at Tulsa. Arrangements are pending with Shurden Funeral Home of Henryetta.

STEPHEN MATHENY

Stephen Matheny, 91, of Tulsa died May19,200.

Arrangements are pending with Shurden Funeral Home.

WILLIAM CARL KISER

William Carl Kiser, Okmulgee, died Saturday morning, May 19,2001 at Okmulgee Memorial Hospital at the age of 82. He was born December 19, 1918 in Morris to George Steven and Ethel L. (Davis) Kiser. He married LaWanda Vaughn Marshall on June 4, 1939 in Morris.

He was a Veteran of the United States Navy, was a farmer and rancher in the Eram Community from 1939 to 1960, had worked at American St. Gobain Glass Company for 23 years, retiring as a foreman and retired from the Oklahoma State Unemployment Service after 7 years of service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Morris, the Masonic Lodge, where he had recently received his 50 year pin, and was active in the starting of the Senior Citizen's Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Delmer George Kiser.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, LaWanda, a son, Don Kiser of Oklahoma City, a daughter, Carol Ebert and husband Mike of Stillwater, three grandchildren, Ryan Ebert and wife Kellie of Stillwater, Amy Ebert of Tulsa, and Kelli Kiser of Oklahoma City, a great grandson, Tyler Michael Ebert, a sister-in-law, Mildred Kiser of Okmulgee, two brothers-in-law, Dick Marshall and wife Pat of Pineville, LA, and Jim Marshall and wife Kay of Jenks, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May, 22, 2001 at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Lawrence Matlock of Calvary Baptist Church officiating.

Casketbearers will be Dick Marshall, Jim Marshall, Scott Marshall, Jim D. Marshall, Jerry Irwin and Ryan Ebert.

Interment will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.

HELEN LUCY HAWKINS

HELEN LUCY HAWKINS, lifelong Okmulgee resident, died Sunday afternoon, May 2O, 2001 at Okmulgee Memorial Hospital. She was born May 15, 1909 in Okmulgee to Victor and Bertha (Saunders) Hawkins. Miss Hawkins had been a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell for 35 years prior to retiring. After retiring, she was a volunteer at the local nursing homes. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Pioneers, Royal Neighbors, and the First Christian Church. She was an avid reader.

Miss Hawkins was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Edward, Robert, and Noble Hawkins, two sisters, Ruth Gibbs and Edith Woodward, and a nephew, Jim Hawkins.

Survivors include four nieces and nephews, Ruth Sullivan and husband Russell of Taylorville, Ill., Edward Hawkins of Arvada, Colo., Robert Hawkins of Murrietta, Cal ., and Jean Mitchell of Upland, Cal .

Graveside services will be held 10:00 A. M . Wednesday, May 23, 2001 at the Okmulgee Cemetery with the Reverend 0. Edmund Pendleton officiating. Friends may visit the funeral home from 10-5 on Tuesday. Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.

GERALDINE AVERETT

Geraldine M. Averett, 82, of Okmulgee, passed away May 17, 2001 at the Okmulgee Memorial Hospital. She was born in Vintondale, PA April 20, 1918 to Jesse and Mary Jane (Shields) McGuire. She was a long time member of the Church of Christ. Mrs. Averett volunteered many hours as a pink lady at the Okmulgee Memorial Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Jesse and Mary Jane McGuire, three brothers Leonard, Irvin, her twin brother Gerald McGuire and her husband Vergil "Jim" Averett.

She is survived by one brother Thomas McGuire of Orange, Florida; one daughter Helen Louise Combs of Okmulgee; three foster sons, Harvey Olson and wife Sherry of Hahira, GA, Major Michael Broncheau and wife Christina of Monmouth, OR and Marvin Taylor, of Winterhaven, CA, four grandchildren, Sharon Louise Jarrett of Fort Worth, TX, Geraldine Combs of Okmulgee, OK, Glenda Kathleen Tinnell and husband Michael of Muskogee, OK, Paul Averett Combs and wife Julie of Fort Worth, TX, three great-grandchildren: Bethany Louise Jarrett, Scott David Combs, Kathryn Marie Combs, Steven Broncheau and Kevin Broncheau and several nieces and nephew.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 21, 2001 at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel in Okmulgee with Mr. Jack Shock officiating. Interment will follow in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, OK under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home in Okmulgee, OK.

Visitation will be at the Funeral Home from 12 noon until 8:00 PM on Sunday, May 20, 2001.

Casketbearers will be Cliff Reeve, Jim Hughes, James Slape, Vernon Himes, James Hamilton, and Kenny Thompson.
