NELL RUTH HARRISON

Nell Ruth Harrison, 84, of Eunice New Mexico, died Thursday, May 17, 2001 at Permian General Hospital in Andrews, Texas. She was born July 12, 1919 in Broken Arrow to Lon and Leva Lewis.

She attended Oklahoma State University and had been the Personnel Director at Lea Regional Hospital until retiring in 1985. She was a lifetime member of the Order of Eastern Stars, belonged to the BP& W of Hobbs, New Mexico, a member of the Yucca Garden Club and Masonic Widows, and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hobbs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and two sisters.

Survivors include two daughters, Jan Nelson, of Eunice, New Mexico, and Sharon January, of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, a grandson, a niece, and several family members and friends.

Graveside rites will be conducted on Monday, May 21 at 2 p.m. at he Beggs Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Beggs.

WILLIAM CARL KISER

William Carl Kiser, Okmulgee, died Saturday morning, May 19,2001 at Okmulgee Memorial Hospital at the age of 82. He was born December 19, 1918 in Morris to George Steven and Ethel L. (Davis) Kiser. He married LaWanda Vaughn Marshall on June 4, 1939 in Morris.

He was a Veteran of the United States Navy, was a farmer and rancher in the Eram Community from 1939 to 1960, had worked at American St. Gobain Glass Company for 23 years, retiring as a foreman and retired from the Oklahoma State Unemployment Service after 7 years of service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Morris, the Masonic Lodge, where he had recently received his 50 year pin, and was active in the starting of the Senior Citizen's Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Delmer George Kiser.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, LaWanda, a son, Don Kiser of Oklahoma City, a daughter, Carol Ebert and husband Mike of Stillwater, three grandchildren, Ryan Ebert and wife Kellie of Stillwater, Amy Ebert of Tulsa, and Kelli Kiser of Oklahoma City, a great grandson, Tyler Michael Ebert, a sister-in-law, Mildred Kiser of Okmulgee, two brothers-in-law, Dick Marshall and wife Pat of Pineville, LA, and Jum Marshall and wife Kay of Jenks, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May, 22, 2001 at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Lawrence Matlock of Calvary Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.

WALTER SMITH SR.

Walter S. Smith Sr., 92, of Tulsa died May14, 2001. He was born in Terry Town, New York.

He was a graduate of Colgate University and earned a Masters Degree in chemical engineering from Mass. Institute of Technology. He married Margaret Critchell of Halifax, Canada in 1930. They moved to Tulsa in 1936. He and his wife founded Process Equipment Company in 1944. He was a registered professional engineer, member of AICHE, EST, OSPE, and NSPE. He was also director of the Marley Corp., of Kansas City, Mo., and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret (Peg) in 1981.

He is survived by his daughter Margaret (Marg) Smith Upshaw of Grand Island, Nebraska; his son Walter S. Smith Jr., and wife Marilyn of Okmulgee; six grandchildren and nine great-grandsons.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday at Tulsa's Memorial Park Chapel.

Friends may contribute to the Little Light House or favorite charity. Stanleys Funeral Home of Tulsa is in charge of arrangements.

ARMAND L. CARDINAL

Armand Louis Cardinal, 74, of Okmulgee died Sunday, May 13, 2001 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. He was born Aug. 3, 1926 in Floydada, Texas to Armand R. and Annalea (Tierce) Cardinal.

He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving in WWII. He married Carol New on Aug. 17, 1951 in Amarillo. He was chief chemist for Phelps-Dodge, retiring in 1991. He and Carol moved to Okmulgee in 1996, after residing in El Paso for 44 years. He was a member of the Okmulgee Circle Squares and the ASTM, in which he was awarded their highest award, The Award of Merit in 1989. He was a Roman Catholic. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Geraldine Cardinal.

Survivors include his wife, Carol of the home; seven children, Michael Cardinal of Chesapeake, Va., Debra Walker and husband Jim of Missouri City, Texas, Richard Cardinal of El Paso, Texas, Monica Cardinal of Parker, Colo., Kristina Greene and husband Brian of El Paso, Texas, Jon Cardinal and wife Elena of Chesapeake, Va., and Anne Jordan and husband Abel of Watauga, Texas; a sister Annette Odom and husband James of Plainview, Texas and 12 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, May 17 at the McClendon-Winters Chapel. Burial will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery.

Friends may visit the funeral home Wednesday from 10 a.m., until 6 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Hospital in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are under direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home.

PHILLIP G. MCGEE

Phillip Gene McGee, 89, a longtime resident of Nuyaka died May 9, 2001 in Oklahoma City. He was born Aug. 17, 1911 in Okemah to George and Effie (Jones) McGee.

He was a farmer and served as a deacon in the Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church, west of Beggs. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son and a brother.

Survivors include three sons, Zann Charles McGee of Phoenix, Ariz., Vincent McGee of Okmulgee and Phillip McGee Jr., of Oakland, Calif.; two daughters, Florence Smith of Moore and Judy Ashton of Oklahoma City; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.

A homegoing celebration will be held Saturday, May 19 at 10 a.m., in the Macedonia Baptist Church, 1029 North Sioux. Burial will be in the Nuyaka Cemetery under direction of the House of Winn Funeral Home. The casket will remain closed.

CAROLYN V. JOHNSON

Carolyn Vonn Johnson, 35, of Tulsa died May 9, 2001 in Tulsa. She was born July 1, 1965 in Kansas City, KS to Willie and Betty (Bradley) Broussard Jr.

She married Clayton D. Johnson on Jan. 3, 1998 in Broken Arrow. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her father and a daughter, Anna Marie Johnson, on Feb. 18,1998.

Survivors include her husband of Tulsa; her mother, Betty Broussard of Okmulgee; a son, Anthony Broussard of the home; four brothers, Marcus Broussard of San Antonio, Andre Broussard of Okmulgee, Bruce Broussard of Newalla and Lamont Russell of Edmond; and two sisters, Rhonda Dicks of Okmulgee and Rita Broussard of Chicago.

Graveside rites will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 17, 2001 at the New Bethel Cemetery with Reverend Willie Antwine officiating. Friends may visit the funeral home Wednesday from 10-8 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home.

JAMES MCCLELLAN

James McClellan, 69, of Temple, Okla., died May 12, 2001in a Waurika, Oklahoma hospital. He was born Aug. 23, 1931 in Grayson to Booker T. and Gladys (Sanders) McClellan.

He grew up around Grayson and moved to Temple in the 1950's where he has made his home since that time.

Survivors include his wife, Florence of Okmulgee; three daughters, Evelyn Davis and Carolyn D. Sliss, both of Okmulgee and Roberta Hopson of Oklahoma City; three sons, James McClellan Jr., of Morris, Harlas McClellan and Timothy McClellan, both of Okmulgee; five sisters, Mary Caldwell of Tulsa, Helen Mack of Grayson, LuElla Drew of Beggs, Gladys Tisdale of Tulsa and Betty Lewis of Houston, Texas; five brothers, Booker T. Jr., Jobbie Lee, Elliott and Tommy, all of Tulsa and Oscar of Grayson; 11 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, May 19 at 2 p.m., at the Church of Christ in Temple with Dr. John W. Edmerson officiating. Burial will be in the Temple Cemetery under direction of the Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home of Temple.

DONNIE A. JOHNSON

Donnie A. Johnson, 67, died Saturday, May 12, 2001 in Tulsa. She was born on Tuesday, August 29, 1933 in Tuckman, Ark., to Mattie (Smith) and James E. Travis.

A resident of Beggs since l985, she was a retired LPN. She married George Johnson on Sept. 17, 1949 in Salem, Ark.

Survivors include her husband, George of the home; one son, Kenneth Johnson of Beggs; three daughters, Patricia Ann Irvine and Carol West of Beggs and Kathy M. Foreman of Hannibal, Mo.; one brother, Aubre Travis of Hot Springs, Ark.; ten grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.

Services are set for Friday, May 18, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. at the Kelley Funeral Home Chapel. The Reverend Raymond Doke will officiate. Burial will follow at the Okmulgee Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Kelley Funeral Home.

Pallbearers for the service are Kris McCurley, Rocky Johnson, Michael Johnson, Kenneth Dustin, Kevin Dustin and Larry Johnson.

Family and friends are invited for visitation Thursday from May 17 from 9 a.m., until 7 p.m.

LILLIE BRANSON

Lillie Marie Branson, 84, formerly of Beggs, died Tuesday evening, May 15, 2001 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. She was born July 7, 1916 in Morris, Okla., to Silas C. and Annie Pearl Odle.

She married Brody Branson on March 31, 1934 in Beggs. They owned and operated a grocery store for many years. Mrs. Branson had resided in Sapulpa prior to her death. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Arthur and George Odle and a sister, Hazel Thompson.

Survivors include her children, Montie Stephens of Graham, TX, Nancy Bishop of Sapulpa, Marilyn England of Sapulpa, Pam Sullivan of Arlington, TX, and David Branson of Broken Arrow, a sister, Maxine Benningfield of Reno, NV, a brother, John Odle of Bakersfield, CA, nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2001 at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Tom Tidwell officiating. Interment will follow in the Beggs Cemetery with grandsons serving as casketbearers.

Friends may visit the funeral home Thursday from 9 a.m., until the funeral hour. Services are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Beggs.

DOROTHY MINNIE HUGHEY

Dorothy Minnie Hughey 82, a resident of Okmulgee died on Friday, May 11 in Tulsa. She was born on July 19, 1918 in Granite, OK to Theodore Henry and Minnie Florence (Hazelton) Teichmer.

She was married to A.W. Hughey, who preceded her in death on June 6, 1998. Mrs. Hughey moved with her husband to Okmulgee in 1956 from Wichita Falls, TX. She was a longtime member of the Church of Christ,

Also preceding her in death were one son, Chris Allen Hughey, a sister, Anna Belle Cornelius, and brother, Guy E. Teichmer.

Survivors include one son, Gene Hughey of Springfield, MO, a sister, Ora Mae Jamison of Okmulgee, one granddaughter, and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be on Tuesday, May 15 at 2 p.m. at the Church of Christ in Okmulgee, Jack Shock will officiate. Burial will be in the Okmulgee Cemetery under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home.

Casketbearers will be Orville Spears, Ben Hamilton, James Slape, Gene Denney, Vernon Himes, and Gene Cramer.
