RUTH ROONEY

Ruth Rooney, 96, former resident of Henryetta, died Friday, March 30, in New York City. She was born Feb. 4, 1905 in Coalgate, OK to Edward Rooney and Laura Alice Dickinson Rooney.

Survivors include two nieces, Alice Ghostley of North Hollywood Calif., and Gladys Ghostley of New York, both former Henryetta residents.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, April 5 at West Lawn Cemetery in Henryetta under direction of Shurden Funeral Home. Rev. Richard Geiger will officiate.

MAXINE M. LEFFALL

Maxine M. Leffall, 69, a resident of Muskogee and former resident of Beggs, died April 1,2001 in Muskogee. She was born Sept. 4, 1931 in Beggs to William and Ella (Owze) Griffin. She was a beautician.

Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Cleveland Leffall; three daughters, Pam Shumate, Donna Jones and Lori McBride, all of Muskogee; three sisters, Evelyn Henderson of Tulsa, Espinetta Dorsey of Decatur, Ga., and Nannye Talton of Okmulgee; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m., in the Old Agency Baptist church, 1115 North 24th St., Muskogee with Pastor A. H. Jones officiating. Burial will be in Ft. Gibson National Cemetery under direction of the Granger Funeral Home.

BILLY JACK ROE

Billy Jack Roe of Lawton died Tuesday, April 3, 2001 at his home. He was born March 25, 1932 south of Beggs.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday in the McClendon-Winters Funeral Chapel at Beggs.

Survivors and additional information will be found in Friday's edition of the Okmulgee Daily Times.

KAY GRANT WATTS

Keziah "Kay" Elizabeth Grant Watts, a gentle woman, died at her home, amongst comforting surroundings, in Ft. Smith, AR, on March 31, 2001 after several years of declining health. Although her last few years became increasingly difficult for her, she never complained and accepted the direction her life had taken, always more concerned for those around her than for herself.

The only daughter of George Owen and Lillian May Grant, Kay was born in Stilwell, OK on September 28, 1914. As the children of well-educated parents she and her two brothers, Owen C. and Victor M. Grant, flourished in an environment of learning and ambition. Their father, as an attorney in Tulsa, OK and as an Adair County, OK prosecuting attorney and county judge, instilled in them the value of an education. Their mother encouraged them to think for themselves and to become productive adults. Kay endeavored to accelerate her education and graduated from High School at the age of 16. She continued to pursue an academic course and graduated with a B.S. degree from Northeastern State University at Tahlequah, OK in 1933 at the age of 19. She subsequently earned a Master's degree plus 30 additional hours from Oklahoma State University at Stillwater, Oklahoma. She was employed by the Oklahoma State Department of Welfare as a social worker as well as the Oklahoma Department of Education as a teacher. She lived and worked in various parts of Oklahoma.

She married Denver J. Watts, an athlete, teacher and coach in 1938, after which, they lived in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. She was widowed in 1954, and returned to teaching 5th grade at Wilson Elementary in Okmulgee. In 1966, she moved to Tulsa, teaching corrective reading at Houston, elementary until her retirement in 1977. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, an honorary educational society. She moved to Ft. Smith to be near her daughter and to be able to enjoy her granddaughter after retiring.

Kay was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Okmulgee and Central Presbyterian Church of Ft. Smith, always secure in her faith and providing a strong religious foundation for her daughter. She was a loving patient mother and always held an optimistic and positive outlook toward life and its problems. Kay was a devoted Grandmother and contributed to the caring of her granddaughter with kindness, giving her the benefit of her experience and knowledge in the pursuit of learning and a sense of selfworth. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. Kay is preceded in death by her parents, and 3 brothers. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Jane Roberds of Ft. Smith, her granddaughter, Helaina Kay Smith Jennings and her husband Tim Jennings of Ft. Smith; her great grandson, Kavan Kilgore of Ft. Smith; her devoted nieces, Suzanne Griffith and her husband, Rev. Clyde Griffith of Broomall, Pennsylvania; and Reverend Martha Nell Thomson and her husband Milton Thomson of Montreal, Quebec, Canada as well as several grand-nieces, grand nephews and cousins. She is also survived by her care-givers, Travis and Virginia Haller of Ft. Smith and many, many friends.

The family will visit with friends and viewing will be held at Fentress Mortuary in Ft. Smith on Wednesday, April 4, 2001 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at Central Presbyterian Church in Ft. Smith on Thursday, April 5, 2001 at 11:00 AM with Reverend's Tom and Cathy Ulrich and Reverend Clyde Griffith officiating. A graveside service and burial will follow in Okmulgee at 3:30 PM Thursday with Reverend Clyde Griffith officiating. The family will visit with friends in Okmulgee following the burial at the home of a close family friend, Lynn Edenborough. The funeral and burial will be under the direction of Fentress Mortuary. In keeping with Kay's love of reading, memorial contributions may be made to the wonderful, new Ft. Smith Public Library, 3210 Rogers Ave., Ft. Smith, AR 72903.

KAY GRANT WATTS

Keziah "Kay" Grant Watts, 86, former Okmulgee resident and educator, died March 31, 2001 in Fort Smith, Ark.

She was a former teacher at Okmulgee's Wilson Elementary School and retired teacher for the Tulsa Public School System. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and the Central Presbyterian Church at Fort Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Denver Watts.

Survivors include a daughter, Donna Roberds of Fort Smith; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m., at the Central Presbyterian Church in Fort Smith. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m., Thursday at the Okmulgee Cemetery under direction of the Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Fort Smith Public Library, 3201 Rogers, Fort Smith, Ark., 72902.

Maxine M. Lefall, 69, a resident of Muskogee and former resident of Beggs, died April 1, 2001 in Muskogee.

Survivors and arrangements will be announced by Granger Funeral Home of Muskogee.

ROSA L. REPSHER

Rosa Lunett Bynum Repsher, 65, a longtime Okmulgee County resident, died Sunday, April 1, 2001 in Henryetta. She was born Dec. 6, 1935 in Pitts County, Ga., to W. G. and Eva (Peacock) Wagman.

She married Paul Repsher on June 24, 1977. She worked for Wal Mart for 21 years.

Survivors include her husband of the home; five sons, Randall Bynum of Winter Haven, Fla., Anthony Bynum Repsher of the home, Paul E. "Eddie" Repsher Jr., of Apopka, Fla., Marvin Repsher of Lakeland, Fla., and Eldon "Allen" Repsher of Springfield, Mo.; two daughters, Kathy D. Bynum-Sioux of Oklahoma City and Paula Mitchell of Niangua, Mo.; two brothers, Ernest Wagnum of Kathleen, Fl., and Bilily Wagnum of Winter Haven, Fla.; two sisters, Faye Nelson of Satellite Beach, Fla., and Birdie Creasy of Arizona; 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday, April 6 at 2 p.m., at the Wilson Community Baptist Church with Rev. Craig Hobbs officiating. Burial will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery under direction of the Kelley Funeral Home.

Family and friends are invited for visitation on Wednesday, April 4 from 9 a.m., until 6 p.m., and on Thursday, April 5 from 9 a.m., until 6 p.m.

CHARLIE G. SADLER

Charlie G. Sadler, 79, a longtime Okmulgee resident, died in Muskogee V.A. Hospital on Monday, April 02,2001. He was born in Beggs, Oklahoma on February 4,1922 to Charlie Newton and Anna Faye (Warren) Sadler.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He was employed as a glassworker for ASG Industries for 13 years, and then he worked as a Sprinkler Fitter until his retirement. He was a lifetime member of the VFW 1189, the Masonic Lodge 319 in Beggs, and the Tulsa Scottish Rite.

Survivors include two sons James Kirby of Okmulgee and Charles Sadler Jr. of Shawnee; a daughter and son-in-law Sharon and Gary Washburn of Shawnee; one granddaughter; his wife Jean Sadler of Shawnee, one brother, C.D. Sadler of Beggs; two sisters Dorothy Jean Prine and Marie Gunkel both of Okmulgee; and many special nieces and nephews and many friends.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, April 4, 2001 at 2 p.m., at the McClendon Chapel with Rev. Raymond Doke officiating. Burial will be in the Beggs Cemetery under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home in Okmulgee.

Pallbearers will be Henry Sadler, James Sadler, Maverick Sadler, Mike Sadler, Billy Ray Sadler and Gary Prine.

Mr. Sadler was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers Alonzo Kenneth Sadler, John Alexander Sadler, Dolphas Marion Sadler, Greenie Alfred Sadler, Rosco Nelson Sadler and Glen Kelly Sadler.

ANNA MAE ROSE

Anna Mae Rose, 78, of Preston, passed away in Broken Arrow, on April 2, 2001. She was born on November 22, 1922, in Salt Creek, OK to James and Aldonia (Bracken) Sivils. She attended Bearden schools. She married her husband, Berna Rose, on March 5, 1946. He preceded her in death on January 30, 1998 after 50 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Leon and Jep Sivils.

Mrs. Rose is survived by two children, son, Virgil Rose of Muskogee and daughter, Irene Harelson and husband James of Broken Arrow; one sister, Louise Neal of Okmulgee; one brother, Odie Sivils of Newcastle, OK; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be Thursday, April 5, 2001 at the Preston Baptist Church at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Jim Waller officiating. Interment will be at the Bearden Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Kelley Funeral Home.

Family and friends are invited for visitation on Wednesday, April 4, 2001 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

LUTHER H. DAVIS

Luther Harrison Davis, 79, of Mannford, OK, died Tuesday, April 3, 2001 at a local nursing home.

Services and survivors will be announced by the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.

ACIL W. WINN

Acil W. Winn, 92, died March 28, 2001 in a Lawrence, Kan., nursing home. He was born June 10, 1908 in Haskell, OK to Rev. Samuel and Adelaide (Flurry) Winn.

The family moved to New Hope, Oktaha where he was educated and accepted Christ in his life.

In New Hope, Oktaha he met and married his first wife, Eddie A. Thomas. They had nine children, Lee Eddie (Decatur) Lyons, Pearly (Carl) Hayes, Imogene (Rev. John) Edwards, Samuel Winn. Wynola Mae Winn, all of Wichita, KS. Also Rev. Louis (Callie) Winn Sr. and Amelia (Reuben) Thomas, of Salina, KS; Virgie Irving and David Winn I, of Muskogee, OK.

He was a construction worker.

After the dissolution of this marriage, he moved to Lawrence, KS where he met and married Opal Winn. Two children were born to this union: Robert and Laurie.

In Kansas, he served as Superintendent of Sunday School and chairman of the deacon board at the Ninth St. Baptist Church, only to relinquish these positions due to ill health, which resulted in him receiving constant medical care at a nursing home.

Preceding him in death are his parents, two brothers, Earl and Osie Winn Sr. and one sister, Irene Oakley.

Survivors include his wife Opal and two children, "The Mighty Nine" (listed above), 24 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, two brothers, Odessa Winn, Muskogee, OK and Marcus Winn, N.Y., N.Y.; two sisters, Oda M. Jackson, Muskogee and Addie Cutno, Los Angeles, CA., nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted. Tuesday, 1 p.m. in the 9th Street Baptist Church, 847 Ohio St., Lawrence, KS with his pastor, Rev. Rene Brown, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Warren-McElwain Funeral Home, assisted by the House of Winn Funeral Home.
