Gertrude T. Irving
Gertrude T. Irving, age 86, of Norman, Oklahoma, passed
away Saturday, May 15, 2004 at Holiday Heights Care Center in
Norman. Funeral Service will be at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, May 18,
2004 at Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Reggie Dowdy,
pastor, Northside Church of God, officiating.. Interment will follow
at the Robinson Fairview Cemetery, Northeast of Norman. Services
are under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman,
Oklahoma.
Gertrude was born on December 29, 1917 to Amberson Carial
and Geneva May Thurman. She grew up in the Norman area and
attended school at Robinson School, Northeast of Norman. She
married Pat Irving on May 6, 1940. He preceded her in death on July
20, 1991. Gertrude was a bookkeeper and checker at McCall’s and
Greenleaf Grocery Stores for over eighteen years. Gertrude was a
volunteer for many years at Central Mid-High in Norman. She
attended Northside Church of God and enjoyed her friends and the
outdoors. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two
brothers, Darcey & A.C. Thurman; and a sister Minnie Foreman.
Gertrude is survived by a sister-in-law, Opal Thurman of Norman and
numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Northside Church of
God, 222 E. Hayes Street; Norman, Oklahoma 73069.

Anna Lee Judy
Anna Lee Judy was born November 24, 1926 in Dawes, West
Virginia to Calvin and Maude Carper. She moved with her parents
and elder sister to Michigan, where she completed high school and
studied commercial art.
She married Lyman E. "Ed" Judy in Burnips, Michigan on November
23, 1948. They resided in Michigan, Illinois, and Oklahoma before
Ed’s final transfer to Louisiana, where they remained following his
retirement.
Anna enjoyed traveling extensively with Ed and with their fellow RV
enthusiasts for many years, and particularly enjoyed attending
bluegrass festivals and being involved in arts and crafts. She was an
accomplished artist and art instructor for most of her adult life, and
she greatly enjoyed listening to and performing music. She took upon
herself the role of family historian, researching the histories of her
family and Ed’s and keeping up with each new addition to the
families. She involved herself with volunteer work and with
mentoring neighborhood children, and was an active member of the
Gretna United Methodist Chuch in Gretna, Louisiana.
She was preceded in death by her husband, and by her parents. She is
survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Leonard and Brenda Judy
of Norman, her grandchildren, Sean Judy of Tulsa and Alicia Judy of
Norman, her sister, Freda Judy of Dorr, Michigan, and many relatives
in Michigan and Illinois.
Services will be held at the Cook Funeral home in Byron Center,
Michigan, with interment at Burnips Cemetery in Burnips, Michigan.

Tommie Robert Marple
Tommie Robert Marple, 73, of
Norman, Oklahoma, died Wednesday, May
5, 2004, in Norman, Oklahoma. Funeral
Services will be held at 2:00 P.M, Tuesday,
May 11, 2004 at Heartland Harvest Church
at 3650 E. Robinson in Norman with
Reverend Lendell Birdsong officiating.
Interment will follow at the Norman I.O.O.F.
Cemetery with military honors. Services are
under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral
Home of Norman, Oklahoma.
Mr. Marple was born December 6,
1930 in Headrick, Oklahoma, to Treavor M. Marple and Covie Katy
Lou (Williams) Marple. He grew up in Headrick and attended
schools there. He joined the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the
Korean War. He later joined the U.S. Navy Reserves where he served
for sixteen years. Tommie married Mary Janell Crandall in 1951 in
Lawton, Oklahoma. They moved to Norman in 1960 from Oklahoma
City. He worked for many years as an iron worker and was a member
of Iron Workers Union #48. Tommie attended the Southside
Holiness Church. He enjoyed a number of hobbies including fishing,
hunting and gardening.
Mr. Marple was preceded in death by his parents, Treavor &
Covie Marple; wife, Mary and sister, Neva Hall. Survivors include
son, Robert Dean Marple and wife, Kathy of Norman, daughter,
Doris Ann Marple of Norman; two sisters, Eveline Rhine of
Enterprise, Alabama and Dude Sholedice of Lawton, OK; and two
grandchildren, Stephanie and Ashley Marple; and many nieces and
nephews.

Kathryn Sue (Howard) May
Kathryn Sue May, 45, of Norman,
Oklahoma, died Thursday, May 6, 2004 in
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Funeral Services
will be held at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, May 11,
2004 at Wildwood Community Church with
Reverend Bruce Hess officiating. Services
are under the direction of Havenbrook
Funeral Home of Norman, Oklahoma.
Mrs. May was born March 6, 1959 in
San Antonio, Texas, to Thomas Ewing Howard and Norma Doris
(Whetstone) Howard. She married Larry May on June 20, 2002.
God’s light radiated from Kathy to all who came into contact with
her. Her greatest wish was for that light to continue to shine and
reflect in the lives of those she loved so much.
Mrs. May was preceded in death by grandparents, Paul
Whetstone, and Carl and Dora Howard. Survivors include her
husband, Larry May of the home; her parents, Thomas and Norma of
Norman ; son, Jacob Zuker of Norman; four daughters, Jennifer
Cochell and husband, Chad of Norman; Casey May of Miami, OK;
Stacey May of Midwest City, OK and Amy Crossfield of New York
City, NY; two brothers, Tim Howard and wife, Jackie, of Tracy,
California and Thomas Howard and wife, Julie of Alexander,
Virginia.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wildwood Community
Church at 1501 NE 24th St in Norman.

Helen Rivers Murphy
Helen Rivers Murphy, 88, of Norman, Oklahoma, died
Friday, May 7. 2004, in Norman, Oklahoma. Graveside Services will
be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, May 11, 2004 at Noble I.O.O.F.
Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral
Home of Norman, Oklahoma.
Mrs. Murphy was born April 9, 1916 in Purcell, Oklahoma,
to J.E. and Alma (Collins) Jackson. She grew up in the Purcell area
and attended schools in the Johnson community in McClain County,
Oklahoma. Helen married Harve Murphy on January 5, 1932 in
Purcell. They lived around the Purcell and Washington, Oklahoma
area most of her life. She returned to Norman from the McClain
county area in 1978.
Mrs. Murphy was preceded in death by her parents, husband,
granddaughter, two great-grandchildren and six brothers and sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Alvin Murphy of Washington, OK and
James Howard Murphy and wife, Floy of Norman, OK; two
daughters, Loretta Ketner and husband, Carl of Norman, OK and
Eulene Melton and husband, Dalton of Perry, Oklahoma; sister, Ma
Jo Noblett of Oklahoma City, OK; brother, Frank Jackson of Purcell,
OK thirteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren and one
great-great-grandchild.
