DAVID DURDEN

David Scott Durden, 44, of Morris, died Wednesday, May 22, 2002 in Tulsa. David was born on April 19, 1958 in Pasco, Washington to Esther and Leroy Durden. He attended Okmulgee High School and OSU-Okmulgee. He worked as a laborer. He was married to Christine Durden.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Paul Moody.

Survivors include wife, Christine of the home; children, Carly Tiger, Amanda Durden, and Ethan Durden; two sisters, Lisa Durden and Lillian Dow; four brothers, Don Higgins, Brian Durden, Patrick Durden, and Albert Moody; and one grandchild.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2002 at 11 a.m. at the Trinity Baptist Church in Morris with Johnny Leybas officiating.

Jess Newton Folsom

Jess Newton Folsom, a resident of Okmulgee, was born December 30, 1928 in Haskell County, Oklahoma to Bertha (Risenhoover) Folsom and Jesse Monroe Folsom. He passed away May 26, 2002 at Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 73 years 4 months and 26 days.

He was married to Belva Jean (Smith) Folsom at Quinton, Oklahoma on July 5, 1946. He was a Welding Supervisor for The Fabsco Company.

Jess was a member of the United Pentecostal Oneness Church In Okmulgee.

He was preceded in death by his son, Billy Arnold Folsom; parents, Jesse M. & Bertha Folsom; sister, Elizabeth Ann Bornoff; Brother, Billy Folsom and infant twin sisters.

Pallbearers will be J.W. Pilgrim, Harley Denny, Jerry Pilgrim, Bobby Risenhoover, Danny Risenhoover, and Wendy Risenhoover.

Visitation will he held at Shurden-Kelley Funeral Home in Okmulgee.

Services will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at Deliverance Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church in Okmulgee officiated by Rev. Terry Harmon. Burial will be at Okemah Cemetery under the direction of Shurden Funeral Home.

Grace Contreras

Grace Contreras, a resident of Henryetta, was born April 19, 1912 in Arkansas to Smithee Elizabeth (Bowen) and Allen Smith. She passed away May 26, 2002 at Henryetta, Oklahoma at the age of 90 years, 1 month and 7 days. Grace was a Homemaker and was of the Pentecostal Faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John Contreras, and several brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her 3 sons: Roy Contreras, Henryetta; Dan Contreras & wife Nadine, Sapulpa; Avert Contreras & wife Anna Dale, Dell City, Oklahoma; 8 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren 9 step great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives & friends.

Services will be held Wednesday, May 29, 2002 at 2:00 pm at Shurden Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry David Page II of Officiating. Services are under the direction of Shurden Funeral Home.

Larry P. Armstead

Larry P. "Moses" Armstead, 40, a resident of Grayson, OK passed away, Saturday, May 25th in a Tulsa hospital. He was born Dec. 19, 1961 in Henryetta, OK to Moses Carter and Marlene Armstead Celestine.

He was a graduate of Dewar High School in 1980. He was a horse trainer and jockey.

Preceding him in death are his parents.

Survivors include, one brother, Mark Holmes, Grayson, OK; five sisters, Jacinta Johnson, Cedar Hills, TX, Susan Jones, Carrot, TX, Michelle Tompkins, Okla. City, OK, Bonnie Perkins, Cedar Hill, TX and Constance Celestine, Arlington, his maternal Grandmother, Leanna Armstead, Grayson, OK, along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends.

Funeral mass will be Friday, 10 a.m. in Uganda Martyrs Catholic Church with Father Amalor Vima, the celebrant. Interment will be in Sacred Heart cemeteryGrayson, OK under the direction of the House of Winn Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Thursday, 12 Noon till 6 p.m.

Eloise Jackson

Eloise Jackson, 90, a resident of Okmulgee, passed away, Saturday, May 25th in a local nursing home.

Arrangements are pending with the House of Winn Funeral Home.

GERALDINE (JUDY) TOON-BOND-BILBY

Geraldine (Judy) Toon-Bond-Bilby 57, resident of Beggs died in Tulsa on Thursday, May 30, 2002. She was born on April 28, 1945 in Barnsdall, Oklahoma to Eli and Rena (Harris) Collins. Judy was the owner/operator of The A-1 Git-N-Scram convenience store near Beggs. She enjoyed working in the garden, riding in her vintage Cadillac convertible with the top down, and reading her bible. Her parents, two sons Tommie Martin Toon and Marcus Artie Toon, two sisters Freda Collins and Lou LeTorneau, and a brother Andy Collins preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband J. Dale Bilby of the home, three daughters Geraldine Estrada and Katherine Renae Stiger both of Beggs and Eliza Beatrice Morgan of Okmulgee, three sons Gerald R. Toon of Nuyaka, Jimmie Darrell Toon and Carl Asberry Toon both of Okmulgee, six brothers Bud Collins, Ed Collins, Dale Collins, Bob Collins, Amos Collins, and Randy Collins, five Sisters Ellaveve Fetterhoff, Jean Baker, Rose Valencia, Marge Ringer and Jan Lee, and six grandchildren Amber Dawn Toon (Peewee), Gerald Ray Toon Jr. (JR), Tristina Jo Toon (Punky), Cody (Eli) Toon, Timothy Raymond Bull (Weezer) and Neal Payne Mitchell (Bubba).

Funeral Services were on Monday, June 3, 2002 at 2:00 pm at the Assembly of God Church in Beggs, with Rev. Robert Yandell officiating. Burial was in the Beggs Cemetery. Visitation was Sunday from 1-8 pm at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home in Beggs.

Pallbearers were Carl Toon, Gerald Toon, Richard Roach, Howard Branson, Bary Branson, Jack Branson and Al Stiger. Honorary Pallbearers were Steve Kemfer, Dewayne Gailey, Ron Ballard, Danny Estrada, Cody Collins.

RUBY STEWART

Ruby Stewart, 97, longtime Dewar resident, died May 31, 2002 at Dewar. She was born Sept. 4, 1904 at Agra, Okla., to Elizabeth and Samuel Lewis Bond.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Stewart on May 28,1972. They were married in February of 1923. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Francis Clark, a grandson, Larry Mullins, three sisters and four brothers.

Survivors include four children, Velma Mullins of Choteau, Okla., Betty Ragen of Dallas, Texas, Jeryl Stewart of Dewar and Joy Ray of Enid; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services were held Monday, June 3 at the Dewar First Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Vance officiating. Burial was at the Dustin Cemetery under direction of the Shurden Funeral Home.

KING MONTGOMERY

King J. Montgomery, 86, died Sunday, June 2, 2002 in Okmulgee. Mr. Montgomery was a lifelong resident of Okmulgee. He was born on Sunday, November, 21, 1915 in Okmulgee.

Services are pending under the direction of the Shurden-Kelley Funeral Home in Okmulgee.

PAUL WALTERS

Paul Walters, 88, died Sunday, June 2, 2002 . He was born August 11, 1913 to S.J.T. and Mamie Walters in Hodgenville, KY. He graduated from Eram High School and went on to attend college at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah. He retired from Phillips in Okmulgee and enjoyed hunting, guns, gunsmithing and was an avid gun and car collector. He is preceded in death by his parents, and late wife Willie Mae Walters.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years Bernice Walters of the home; sons: Paul Walters Jr. and wife Janice of DeSoto, TX; Dick Walters and wife Sabrina of Paradise valley, AZ; and Carloss Walters and wife Ruth of Pryor; daughter Jean Alldredge and husband Lynn of Shawnee, sister Juanita Hamilton and husband Harold of Enid, OK; 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.

Services will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, June 5, 2002 at the South Colonia Chapel, burial to follow at 3 p.m. at the Okmulgee Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuary, Oklahoma City.

Lillora G. Allen

Lillora Grace Allen, 95, a life-long resident of Okmulgee, died Sunday, June 9, 2002 in Okmulgee. She was born on Sunday, April 28, 1907 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to Carroll H. and Harriet A. (Lawerence) Moran.

Mrs. Allen was a member of the First Baptist Church of Okmulgee and the Rebekah Sunday School Class; a past member of the B.P.W. and Le Art Sewing Club; and volunteered for many years as a "pink lady" at the Okmulgee Memorial Hospital. She retired from the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company after 41 years of service.

Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Charles E. "Hap'' Allen; daughter, Jo Anne Basford; granddaughters, Sharon Renne Basford and Barbara Sue Horn; three sisters, Mary Barrett, Alice Berry and Eunice Grogan; and two brothers, John J. Moran and Carroll H. Moran, Jr. killed in Italy during World War II.

Mrs. Allen is survived by one daughter Sue Marolf of the home; one sister-in-law, Doris Moran; three grandchildren, Chris Horn, Jo Ann Horn and Laura DuVal; six great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 13, 2002 at the Kelley Chapel with Dr. Dennis Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery under the direction of the Shurden-Kelley Funeral Home of Okmulgee.

VIRGINIA PATTERSON

Virginia Gail Patterson, 54, of Henryetta, died June 2, 2002. She was born March 17, 1948 in Henryetta to Virginia Elenor (Morgan) Stubbs and Willis Wilda Riley Stubbs.

She was married to Johnnie Patterson in Fort Smith, Ark., on Feb. 7, 1983. She was a housewife. She was preceded h death by her parents and infant brother, Riley Dale Stubbs.

Survivors include her husband, Johnnie Patterson of Henryetta; daughter, Kelly Crabtree, Henryetta; a grandson, a brother, Ronnie Stubbs and wife Linda of Eufaula; step-daughters, tina of Ardmore, Sharon Pattie, Gainsville, Texas and Twyla of Arkansas; seven step-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

6raveside services will be at Westlawn Cemetery in Henryetta on Wednesday, June 26 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. John Staggs, officiating under direction of Shurden Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Jerry Smith, Cole Smith, David Vaughn, Rocky Stubbs, Cecil Patterson and J. Paul Main.

CORINE "PAT" ALLEN

Corine "Pat" Allen, 63, of Okmulgee died Wednesday, June 19, 2002 in a Tulsa hospital. She was born on March 21, 1939 in Dustin, Okla., the daughter of Clarence and Maggie (Bowie) McDade, Sr.

She attended school in Vernon, Okla., before moving with her family to Okmulgee, where she attended Dunbar High School. Later she lived in Wakegon, IIlinois, before moving back to Okmulgee in 1974. She was a faithful member of Macedonia Baptist Church and worked for Oklahoma State Tech in the bakery from 1974 until 1992.

Survivors include her son, Robert Allen of Okmulgee; Oklahoma; her brother, Ben Earl McDade, Sr., of Okmulgee; her sisters, Mattie Lyons of Okmulgee and Mary Behn McDade of Los Angeles; five grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Service of memory will be held on Saturday, June 29, at l I:00 a.m. in the Macedonia Baptist Church. Reverend Gregory Richardson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Vernon Cemetery at Vernon, under direction of Keith D. Biglow Funeral Directors, Inc. of Okmulgee.

Visitation will be Friday, June 28, from 10:00 a.m., until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

ALMA CASTLEBERRY

Alma Gertrude Castleberry, 98, of Okmulgee died June 22, 2002 in Okmulgee.

Funeral arrangements are pending with Shurden Funeral Home of Henryetta.

JOSEPHINE MORGAN

Josephine Morgan, 76, of Morris died June 21, 2002 in Tulsa. She was born Nov. 29, 1925 in Okfuskee County to Marhcie and Melinda Harjochee and raised by Edie Keys.

She was married to Louis W. Morgan who preceded her in death along with a son, Louis W. Morgan III, two sisters, Lorene Cheek and Marion Davis, a grandson, Richard Morgan Jr., and a great-granddaughter, Anna Regine Anderson.

She was a lifetime member of Montezuma Indian Baptist Church where she had served as secretary and women's leader. She taught Creek culture and language to the younger generation and loved singing her traditional Creek hymns.

Survivors include seven sons, Robert of Bapchule, Ariz., Ronald of Eufaula, Richard of Edmond, Thomas of Ft. Definance, Ariz., Dennis of Morris and John Morgan of Henryetta; three daughters, Frances Morgan of Bristow, Susie Morgan of Morris and Ellen Morgan Lena of Okemah; 31 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Wake survives were Monday at Montezuma Indian Baptist Church and funeral services will be Tuesday, June 25 at 2 p.m, at the same church with Rev. Kellos and Willis Knight officiating. Burial will be in the Montezuma Church Cemetery under direction of the Robert Simons Funeral Home of Henryetta. Casketbearers will be sons Robert, Ronald, Richard, Thomas, Dennis, Michael and John Morgan.
