WESLEY YOUNG

Wesley Young, 85, a longtime resident of Boynton, died, Tuesday, August 13, 2002 in a Haskell nursing home. He was born September 2, 1916 in Beggs, Ok to Pat Marshall and Dora Young.

He was a retired farmer and was heavily involved with the Okmulgee Invitational Rodeo.

A Service of Memory will be conducted, Friday, August 16, 2002, 10:00 a.m., in the Precious Memories Chapel, with minister Samuel Winn, officiating. Burial will be in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery under direction of the House of Winn. Pallbearers will be Roy LeBlanc, Carl Armstead, Dan Ross, Charles Evans, Larnell Williams and Larry Bird.

Preceding him in death are his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Ruth Anna Valdonia Young of the home; two sons, Gerard Young and Stephen Young, both of Tulsa; a daughter, Glenda Gibson, Haskell; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and numerous relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 15, 12 Noon until 6 p. m.

DONALD WOODRUFF

Donald Woodruff, 63, died Aug. 14, 2002 in Joplin, Mo.

Arrangements are pendiing with the Rogers Funeral Home of Henryetta.

EUGENE HORN

Eugene Collier Horn, 81, a resident of Okmulgee, died in Okmulgee on Friday, August 16, 2002 at his residence. He was born on August 29, 1920 in Okmulgee to Collier Eugene and Bonnie Jeanette (Bryson) Horn. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and had attended Oklahoma State University-Okmulgee. He married Ora Ellen Potter on March 14, 1943 in Okmulgee. He had been employed by the U.S. Post Office for 20 years, a radiographer, and was a superintendent for Nissan Motors in Houston, Texas. Gene was a member of the Church of Christ in Okmulgee. He was preceded in death by a daughter Ellen Jeanette Lindholm and one grandson Anthony L. Horn.

Survivors include his wife Ellen Horn of the home, one daughter Vickie Eileen Huddleston and husband Clifford of Tulsa, two sons Clifford Eugene Horn and wife Susan of Okmulgee, Jeff Horn and wife Pat of Beggs, two brothers William P. Horn and wife Ann of Okmulgee and David Horn and wife Faye of Okmulgee, one sister Norma Glover and husband Joe of Tulsa, eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be on Tuesday, August 20, 2002 at 2 p.m. at the Church of Christ with Mr. Jack Shock officiating. Burial will be in the Okmulgee Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Services are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home in Okmulgee.

STANLEY PENNER

Stanley Isaac Penner, 52, resident of Nuyaka, died Friday evening, August 9, 2002. He was born April 5, 1950 in Santa Clara, Chihuahua, Mexico to Stanley Clayton and Maria (Dueck) Penner. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. and had attended the Nuyaka Baptist Church. Mr. Penner moved to Nuyaka in the late 1980's from San Jose, California, and had been employed by Bama Pie of Tulsa for the past 6 years, first working in facility maintenance, and then the last three years as a pest control officer. He was a Paul Marshall Quality Award Examiner and participated on numerous teams over the past years. He married Diana Luttrell on July 4, 1996 in Okmulgee County.

Survivors include his wife, Diana Penner of the home, parents, Stanley and Maria Penner of Bend, Oregon, brothers and sisters, Martha O'Day of San Jose, California, Abraham Penner of Denver, Colorado, Aaron Penner of Bend, Oregon, Johnny Penner of Medford, Oregon, Mary Ann Shehan of Morton, Washington, Donald Penner of Bend, Oregon, a son, Clayton Penner, and one granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by two brother, Peter Penner in 1972 and David Penner in 1951, and a sister, Margaret Harms in 1989.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 19, 2002 at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend David Hamilton officiating. Services are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.

NOVELLA THOMAS

Novella Thomas, 84. In loving memory of our mother who peacefully passed away Saturday, August 17, 2002. She was born in Boynton, Ok. January 29, 1918 to Ola and Joe Jacobs. She spent her life as a caring wife and devoted mother to 3 daughters, Linda Adcock & husband Jim, Cynthia Hoffman & husband Ron and Joanna Brown. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and spouses, Tracey and Bobby Mahoney, David & Heather Miller, Timothy Adcock, John & Tabitha Hoffman, Jason Hale, Andy & Johnna Brown, Wendy & Chris Colberg; 9 great-grandchildren, Tiffany, Lacy, Shannon, Steven, Hunter, Tristan, Sarah, Allie, Abbey & several nieces & nephews. She loved to play bingo, skip-bo and cooked the best fried chicken in the world. Novella was preceded in death by her husband C.B. Thomas, parents, 5 brothers & great grandchild Ethan Hoffman.

Family will be receiving friends Tuesday, August 20, 2002 from 6 to 8 P.M. at Moore's Eastlawn. Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 21, 2002 at Moore's Eastlawn Chapel with interment at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Moore's Eastlawn.

MILDRED MOORE

Mildred K. Moore, 69, of Henryetta died Aug. 18, 2002 at Henryetta. She was born Nov. 14, 1932 in Henryetta, Oklahoma to Bessie VanBrunt Simpson and Isaac Simpson.

She was married to James Edward Moore in Henryetta, on March 21, 1976. She was a housewife and served an the Okmulgee County Election Board for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Jasper Simpson, and a sister, Erma Biggers.

Mildred is survived by her husband, James Moore of Henryetta; one daughter, Faye Milligan-Bull & husband David, Irving, Texas; one son, Jacque Moore, Bixby, stepson. Jim Wesson & wife Mary, Medford, Oklahoma; sister, Dora Kenyon, Norman; sister, Opal Burgess, Norman; sister, Dozena Elmore & husband Perry of Henryetta and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, & friends.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, August 21, at 10.00 a.m. at Westlawn Cemetery in Henryetta officiated by Dr. Audie Swinney. Services are under the direction of Shurden Funeral Home of Henryetta.

STEPHEN MINYARD

Stephen Minyard, 41, of Henryetta died Friday, Aug. 16, 2002. He was born Aug. 9, 1961 at Dallas and lived there until two years ago when he moved to Henryetta.

He was a cook at Nelsons Restaurant. He loved to play golf and cook and enjoyed ranching and farming.

Survivors include a son, Allan Minyard of Rhome, Texas; a step-daughter, Jessica Schuler of Rhome, his mother, Jerri Minyard of San Antonio; two sisters,, Stephanie Minyard Rogers of Henryetta and Michelle Haas of Arlington, Texas; two nephews; his grandmother, Jeraldine Stubbs of Henryetta and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Minyard on May 19, 2000.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Aug, 21 at Salem Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Terry Pittman officiating. Burial wil be at Sonora Cemetery under direction of the Robert Simons Funeral Home. Casketbearers will be John Minyard, Mark Allen, Terry Minyard, Lindy Allen, Dick Stubbs and Curry Blankenship.

ROBERT TUCKER

Robert Glenn Tucker, 88, of Henryetta died on Aug 18, 2002 in Okmulgee.

Services are pending with Rogers Funeral Home of Henryetta.

MIKE L. PEELER

Mike Lee Peeler, 48, of Okmulgee died Aug, 19, 2002 in at his home.

Survivors and arrangements will be announced by the Shurden-Kelley Funeral Home.

GEORGE STINNETT

George "Pat" Stinnett a Henryetta resident died on Aug 18, 2002 at the age of 71. He was born February 24, 1931 in Maryville, Tenn. to Dexter and Henryetta (Bolinger) Stinnett.

He worked as a motel manager and was an avid bowler. He married Anita Norris on Feb 24, 1961 in Seminole Oklahoma, His parents and a brother Ronald Stinnett preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife Anita Stinnett of the home; a son: Patrick and wife Mellisa Stinnett of Ft. Smith, Ark. daughters, Lora Stinnett of Tulsa, Anna and husband Bill Welsh of the home; five grandchildren, a brother, Bill Stinnett of Maryville, Tenn.; sister-in-law: Carol Stinnett of VanWerth, Ohio and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 21 at the Westlawn Cemetery with Rev. Tim Beam officiating, Services conducted by the Rogers Funeral Home.

WILLA DEENE LILEY

Willa Deene Liley, longtime resident of Beggs, died Saturday evening, August 17, 2002 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa at the age of 78. She was born July 20, 1924 in Healdton, Oklahoma to Doyle (Doll) and Darl D. (Schumann) Lofton.

She married William James "Jim" Liley on August 16, 1945 in Yuma, Arizona. Mrs. Liley was a homemaker, and had worked with her husband in their construction business for many years. In 1975, Mr. and Mrs. Liley moved to Beggs. She enjoyed singing and was a member of the First Assembly of God Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jim Liley on August 9, 1996, a sister, Ida Grounds, and a grandson, Eddie Mitchell.

Survivors include a daughter, Lydia Mitchell and husband Junior of Beggs, a son, James Liley and wife Jennifer of Tulsa, a cousin, a niece, a nephew, and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 21, 2002 at the First Assembly of God Church in Beggs with Reverend Robert Yandell and Mr. Bill Wilburn officiating. Burial will follow in the Beggs Cemetery.

Friends may visit the funeral home from 10-8 on Tuesday. Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Beggs. Casketbearers will be Lynn Lofton, Ron Alley, Mickey Wilburn, Andy Arnold, Jay Earnest Marks and Bill Ross.
