DONALD LONGSTREATH

Donald W. "Don" Longstreath, 62, of Henryetta died Dec. 11, 2002 at Henryetta. He was born October 21, 1940 at Henryetta to Grace (James) and Herman Longstreath.

Don was a retired welder. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Raymond and one sister, Margaret.

Survivors include one son, Terry Longstreath of Henryetta; four daughters, Caryl Harshaw of Atkins, Ark., Cathy Leann of Vardenelle, Ark., Kimberly Longstreath of Winchester, Tenn., and Christy Longstreath of Winchester; a sister, Bess Standley and husband Phil of Henryetta; a brother, Ben Longstreath and wife Sue of Bethany; a sister-in-law, Betty Longstreath of Enid and a host of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Billy Harshaw, Chris Stobaugh, Gregg Henry, George Snow, Howard Williams, Roger Sisson, and Josh Stobaugh.

Services were held Saturday, December 14, at 2:00 p.m. at Shurden Chapel officiated by Rev. Rodney George. Burial was at Westlawn Cemetery under direction of Shurden Funeral Home of Henryetta.

RICHARD HESTER

Richard Allen "Rick" Hester, 52, a resident of Norman died Dec. 12, 2002. He was born August 26, 1950 in Henryetta to Madena Spirlock Fleeter and Lawrence Hester.

Rick served with the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam era. Rick was a former longtime resident of Dewar. He grew up there and graduated from Dewar High School. He was preceded in death by his wife, Angela Hester, his mother, Madena Ledbetter, his father. Lawrence Hester, a sister, Kathy Lynn Hester, a brother, Chris Hester.

He is survived by 3 children, Steve Hester, Kansas City, Kansas; Sandy Robertson and husband Travis, Frisco, Texas; Anthony Collins, Wagoner, Stepson, Josh Hubbard, Washington, D.C., 1 brother, Larry Hester & wife Diane, Dewar, 2 sisters. Debbie Harry & husband David, Henryetta, and Linda Durbin & husband Billy, Moore, Oklahoma; a stepbrother: Tommy Ledbetter of Pierce, Oklahoma; a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and other relatives.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Billy Durbin, Larry Hester, Billy R. Durbin, II, Bradley Durbin, John David Horseford, Tommy Ledbetter, James Smith, and Danne Spurlock.

Graveside services will be held Monday, December 16, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. at New Sonora Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Jack Vance. Services are under the direction of Shurden Funeral Home.

JOE HOLAHTA

Joe Holahta, 48, passed away Thursday, December 12, 2002, in Tulsa. He was born on April 2, 1954, in Okemah, Oklahoma, to Eugene and Cindy Holahta. Joe was united in marriage to Hannah Knight on March 21,1998, in Okemah. Joe was a member of Greenleaf Indian Baptist Church. He lived in the Okemah area all of his life. Joe had been a restaurant cook and enjoyed crafting as a hobby.

He was proceeded in death by his parents and one brother.

Survivors include his wife, Hannah, of the home; his children, Joey, Rodney, Melissa, and Benjamin Holahta; two step-children, Fred Knight and wife, Candance, of Wetumka, and Troy Knight of Okemah; three brothers, Louis and Timmy Holahta, of Shawnee, and Harry James Harjo of Henryetta; six sisters, Helen Tatum of Vamoosa, Estella Berryhill, Arlinda Smith, Annie Holahta, Regina Holahta, and Faye Holahta, all of Okemah; and a host of others friends and relatives.

Funeral Services will be held at the Greenleaf Baptist Church in Okemah, Oklahoma on Monday, December 16, 2002, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Olen Edwards and Mitchell Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at the Knight Family Cemetery under the direction of the Schumacher Funeral Home of Okemah.

HAZEL RICHARDSON

Hazel Richardson, 73, a long time Okmulgee resident, died Wednesday, Dec. 11th in a local nursing home. She was born Aug. 29, 1929 in Okmulgee to William and Ophelia (Holt) Richardson. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include one son, Hubert Guillory, Okmulgee, one sister, Alma Strong, Okmulgee, two grandchildren, along with other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers.

Funeral mass will be celebrated, Tuesday Dec. 17th at 10 a.m. at Uganda Martyrs Catholic Church with Fr. Amalor Vima, the celebrant. Scripture Reading will be Monday, 7:00 p.m. in the Precious Memories Chapel.

The Knights of Peter Claver will serve as pallbearers. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery under the direction of the House of Winn Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Monday, Dec.16 from 12 Noon until 7:00 p.m.

RONALD JONES

Ronald Dee Jones, 69, of Henryetta died Dec. 14, 2002. He was born October 2, 1933 in Dewar to Opal Louise (Courson) and William Henry Jones.

He was married to Teresa (Beasley) Jones at Ft. Smith, Arkansas on October 4, 2002. Ronald graduated from Henryetta High School. He was a Mechanic with Arnerican Airlines. He was a corporal in the U.S. Army and a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Henryetta VFW Post 539 and the American Legion Post 85. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother William Donald Jones.

Survivors include his wife, Teresa Jones of Henryetta; three sons, Rondee M. Jones, Lonnie C. Jones and Darin W. Jones, all of Tulsa; a grandddaughter, two great-grandsons; a brother, Darryl W. Jones and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services will be held Tuesday, December 17, at 2:00 p.m. at Shurden Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Jim Ray. Burial will be at Westlawn Cemetery under direction of Shurden Funeral Home. Military Honors will be conducted by the VFW Post 539 Henryetta & Post 1189 of Okmulgee as well as the American Legion.

DON E. THARP

Don Edward Tharp, 66, of Tulsa died Dec. 14, 2002 in Broken Arrow. He was born June 30, 1936 in Weleetka to Ruby M. Lambeth Tharp and Dudley E. Tharp.

Don worked for 26 years on the Tulsa Police Force, retiring as a detective in 1986. He was a member of the Eastwood Baptist Church and was a member of the National Rifle Association. He was preceded in death by his father and a son, Don Edward Tharp Jr.

Survivors include his five children, Ricky Dale Tharp and wife, Tanya, Richard Terrell Tharp and wife Tammy, all of Tulsa; Daniel D. Tharp of Texas and Sherri Lynn Tharp Wolf and husband Michael of Broken Arrow and Dona DeeAnn Tharp Blue and husband Ron of Kechi, Kan.; his mother, Ruby Mae Tharp of Tulsa; four grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services will be held Wednesday, December 18 at 2:00 p.m. at Shurden Chapel officiated by Rev. Jack Vance. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Weleetka under direction of Shurden Funeral Home of Henryetta.

RYAN HERRON

Ryan Keith Herron, 29, a former resident of Okmulgee, died Wednesday, Dec. 11th in McAlester, OK. He was born Nov. 30, 1973 in Kansas City, Mo., to Clemon and Frances (Artry) Herron.

He attended Okmulgee Public Schools. He was preceded in death is his father, maternal grandparents, and paternal grandmother.

Survivors include his mother, Frances (Harris) Wise, Lawrenceville, Georgia; a son, JerMel DeMar Herron, Oklahoma City; one brother, Curtis Artry, Atlanta, Ga.; three sisters, Joyce Neal and Benita Hall, both of Norcross, Ga.; Terri Harris, Lawrenceville, Ga.; his paternal grandfather, Clemon Herron, Stuttgart, Ark.; along with other relatives and friends.

A service of Memory will be conducted, Wednesday, Dec. 18th in the Precious Memories Chapel, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor John Wesley Forbes, of the Varick Chapel A.M.E. Zion church, Tulsa, officiating. Burial will be in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery under the direction of the House of Winn Funeral Home.

FRANKIE LEE STARR

Frankie Lee Starr, 54, a longtime Okmulgee resident, died on Sunday, December 15, 2002 in Okmulgee.

Services are 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 19, 2002 at the Belvin Baptist Church in Okmulgee with the Reverend Bridge Chuckluck officiating. Burial will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery under the direction of the Shurden-Kelley Funeral Home of Okmulgee.

He was born on Thursday, September 16, 1948 to Amos and Elizabeth (Yargee) Starr in Henryetta, Oklahoma. He served in the United States Army during Vietnam. During his service he received the National Defense Medal; 2 O/S Bars; Combat Infantryman Badge (1st Award); Parachutist Badge; Army Commendation Medal; Sharpshooter Marksman Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars; and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #1189 of Okmulgee.

Survivors include two daughters, Joyce Watson and Vanessa Starr of Holdenville; four brothers, Amos Starr, Jr. of Okmulgee, Edward Starr of Tulsa, Walter Starr of BeeBe, Ark. and Doug Starr of Okmulgee; two sisters, Etta Checotah of Okmulgee and Colleen Hill of Bristow; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is Wednesday, December 18, 2002 from 10 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Wake services are 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2002 at the Kelley Chapel.

Military rites will be conducted at the Okmulgee Cemetery by the V.F.W. Post #1189 of Okmulgee and the V.F.W. Post #539 of Henryetta along with the Creek Nation Honor Guard.

GENEVIA EAKERS

Genevia (Auntie) Eakers died Dec. 13, 2002. She was born on July 10, 1932 in Morris, Oklahoma to the late Otto Whittaker and Frankie Lee James Whittaker.

She moved to Seattle in 1953 and married Charles L. Eakers on December 25th that year. She was employed with the Boeing Company for thirty years retiring in 1990. She was a member of Curry Temple CME Church, Order of Eastern Star, Daughters of Isis, and Beni Hassan Court #45.

Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Charles L. Eakers; three brothers, William, Alvin and Calvin Whittaker; five sisters, Lucile Tucker, Ethel Shaw, Mildred Overstreet, Emma Whittaker and Victorine Johnson; - Ruth McNary; other relatives and friends.

Services will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2002 at Curry Temple CME Church, in Seattle. Viewing at Dayspring Fitch on Friday, December 20, 2002 and Order of Eastern Star Services on Friday , December 20, 2002 at 6:00 p.m.

ALICE CHANCEY

Alice Florene Chancey a Henryetta (Bryant Community) resident died December 17, 2002 in Henryetta. She was born December 9, 1920 in Marlowe Oklahoma to E.E. and Oma (Shave) Colt.

She retired from the Weleetka Bank. She was very active in the Senior Citizen center, loved to bowl and play bridge. She married D.D. Chancey on December 30, 1982 in Holdenville. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers and her first husband L.G. Sandlin on May 23, 1977.

Survivors include her husband, D. D. Chancey of the home; daughter, Debbie Wallace of Weleetka; step sons, Devin and Dusty Chancey of Bryant; two grandchildren, four great grandchildren; two step grandsons; her mother-in-law, Sybil Chancey of Bryant; other relatives and a host of friends.

Services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 20, at the First Baptist Church in Henryetta. Burial will follow at the Sandlin Family Cemetery south of Weleetka, under direction of the Rogers Funeral Home.

JAMES COULTER

James "Jim" Elwin Coulter, 70, a resident of Henryetta since April, 1997, died Dec. 16, 2002 at Hillcrest Hospital in Tulsa. He was born June 5, 1932, in Canadian County, Oklahoma, to Virgil Vernon Coulter and Louise Pauline (Day) Coulter.

He married Yvonna Nadean Basden, November 29, 1986, in Tulare, California. He was retired from J. D. Heiskell & Co., Inc., of Tulare, California, where he worked for many years as a dispatcher. He was preceded in death by his father and his mother; his sister, Bonnie Craig; his brother, Leland Coulter; two grandchildren, Frank and Jennifer Rosa; and his first wife, Bobbie Jean (Nelson) Coulter.

Survivors include: his wife, Yvonna Coulter of Henryetta; one son: Randie Coulter Sr., and Debbie of Lake Tahoe, California; one daughter: Debi Rosa and husband Joe, Sr. of Tulare, California; two brothers: Dwight Coulter and wife Dorothy of Tulare, California; Grady Coulter and wife Marilyn of North Fork, California; one sister: Marilyn Vercruse and husband Bob of Palm Desert, California; one sister-in-law, Midge Coulter of North Fork, California; mothers-in-law, Edna Basden of Henryetta and Flois Campbell of Tulare, California; five grandchildren; and two great grandsons.

Memorial services will be held in Tulare, California, after the first of the year.
