FRANCES LANGSTON RADFORD
Frances Langston Radford, 99, died at ManorCare Nursing
Home on May 9, 2004 after a brief illness. Graveside services
and burial will be held at 4:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 12, 2004 at
the Radford family plot in Fairview Cemetery, Shawnee with
Reverend Dick Virtue officiating. Services are under the direction
of Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman, Oklahoma.
Mrs. Radford was born on October 27, 1904, in Shawnee,
Oklahoma, to Sidney J. Langston and Alice Jeannette Witt
Langston. She graduated from Shawnee High School in 1922 and
in 1923 was married to Ernest Emmett Radford, founder and
president of the First Federal Savings and Loan Association of
Shawnee. Upon their marriage they moved to Oklahoma City,
where Mr. Radford transferred his business interests. The
Radford’s had two children, Doris Jeanne Radford (Morris), and
John Hinton Morris.
Mrs. Radford and her children moved to Norman in 1949,
following Mr. Radford’s death in 1948. From 1950 until her
retirement, in 1965, Mrs. Radford was employed by the University
of Oklahoma and from 1953 was Assistant to the Dean of the
College of Business Administration. In 1964, the Alpha of
Oklahoma Chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma, the honorary business
society, unanimously voted to recognize her contributions to the
College of Business Administration by awarding her the
unprecedented honor of membership in the society.
Preceding Mrs. Radford in death, besides her parents and
her husband, was her son, John Hinton Radford and her daughter,
Doris Jeanne Radford (Morris). Frances is survived by her two
grandchildren, David John Morris and his wife, Charlene, both of
Norman, Oklahoma; and Frances Joanna Morris and her daughter,
Faith Jumei Radford Morris, of Houston, Texas.
Mrs. Radford was a member of First Presbyterian Church in
the years when Dr. Kenneth Feaver was minister there, and her
grandson was baptized in that church. She was a lifelong liberal
Democrat, intensely interested in the political life of the nation, and
was a great admirer of President and Mrs. Bill Clinton. She was an
avid reader and an amateur painter. In the earlier years of her
retirement she cultivated an extensive rose garden, featuring early
and rare species of roses.

Roy Dale Rames
Roy Dale Rames, 73, of Norman,
Oklahoma, died Wednesday, May 5, 2004,
at the Norman Veterans Center in Norman,
Oklahoma. Services will be held at 2:00
P.M., Monday, May 10, 2004, at
Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel in
Norman. Interment will follow at the
Memory Lane Cemetery in Anadarko,
Oklahoma with full military honors.
Honorary casket bearers are Alex Rames,
Cory Smizer, Rick Davis, Jerry Davis, Dr.
Bill Shadid, Bob Hines, Judge Tom Lucas,
Jarrett Rames, Donnie Cox, Ronnie Cox and Carson Rames. Services
are under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman,
Oklahoma.
Roy was born April 22, 1931 in Anadarko, Oklahoma, to Tom
and Lilly Guiterrez (Guthrie) Rames. He grew up and attended
school in Anadarko. At the age of sixteen, Roy joined the U. S. Army
and was honorably discharged in 1952. He was a veteran of the
Korean War. Roy married his childhood friend and sweetheart, Esta
Montelle Garrett, on June 5, 1953, in Anadarko. Roy worked a
variety of jobs until 1963. He then joined the Oklahoma Army
National Guard and moved to Norman. He retired in 1992 from the
National Guard. He then worked for Judge Tom Lucas as a bailiff for
a few years. He enjoyed guns, hunting and traveling. Roy was an
avid fan of the University of Oklahoma, Dallas Cowboys and Notre
Dame. He was a Mason and a member of the 45th Infantry Division
Alumni Association. Roy was a loving and caring father, grandfather,
uncle and friend.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Esta.
Survivors include two sons, Steve Rames and wife, Stephanie of
Perry, OK and Wendell Rames and wife, Melissa of Norman, OK;
a daughter, Paula Smizer and husband, Larry of Norman, OK; sister,
Dora Cox of Norman; brother, Willie Rames and wife, Dorothy, of
Norman; five grandchildren, Cory Smizer, Alex Rames and Hannah
Rames, all of Norman, Jarrett Rames of Fort Collins, CO and Carson
Rames of Perry, OK; nieces and nephews include Rick Davis and
wife, Fannie, Jerry Davis, Annette Russell and husband, John,
Jannette Stewart, Donald Cox and wife, Debbie, all of Norman, and
Ronald Cox and wife, Bonnie of the State of Washington; and many
other nieces and nephews across the country.

Robert Stephen (Steve) Sharp
Steve Sharp, 52, of Noble,
Oklahoma, died Thursday, May 20, 2004, at
home. Memorial Services will be held at
10:00 A.M., Monday, May 24, 2004 at
Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel with
Reverend Richard Burris officiating.
Family will greet friends between 6:00 and
8:00 P.M. on Sunday, May 23, 2004 at
Havenbrook Funeral Home.
Steve was born September 22, 1951
in Madison, Wisconsin, to Ottis and Marie
(Willeford) Sharp. After moving to
Norman in 1960, he attended Norman
Public Schools, graduating from Norman High School in 1970. He
then attended Rose State College, Abilene Christian University and
the University of Oklahoma. In 1980, Steve purchased Wells
Cleaners in Purcell, Oklahoma and operated it as Sharp’s Cleaners for
twenty years.
Steve loved sharing his home with friends and family and had
a special love for Yellowstone National Park visiting it many times
during his lifetime. He attended St. Michael’s Episcopal Church.
Steve was preceded in death by his grandparents, Eva and
Harry Johnson. Survivors include his parents, Ottis and Marie Sharp;
son, Bryan Stephen Davis of Orlando, FL; two daughters, Allison
Marie Sharp and Katherine Frances Sharp, both of Norman; one
brother, David Sharp and wife, Brinda, of Norman, Oklahoma and
close friend, David Blair of Nichols Hills, Oklahoma.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes
Association, Memorial and Honor Program, P.O. Box 2680, North

Drug Services, Inc., P.O. Box 824, Norman, OK 73070.

Theron G. Simpson, Jr.
Theron G. Simpson, Jr., 66, of
Norman, Oklahoma died early Thursday
morning May 6th, 2004 peacefully at home.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M.,
Monday, May 10, 2004 at First Christian
Church in Norman with Reverend David
Spain officiating. Interment will follow at
the Norman I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Bearers
include Bill Malone, Bill Knapp, John
Sutterfield, Gene Womack, Marvin Sturtz,
Clyde Bogle and Bennie Ellis. Honorary
Bearers include John Stout, Bob Jameson,
Dr. Jeff Waltner, Mary Lou Skaggs and the
“coffee shop friends.” Services are under the direction of
Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman, Oklahoma.
Theron was the only child born to T.G. “Coot” Simpson and
Willie Simpson and moved to Norman in 1959. Prior to his move he
served in the army and married his wife of 45yrs, Glenda Simpson.
Mr. Simpson attended East Central University and Oklahoma State
Univ. After college, he spent 15 years working at OG&E before
joining his father in Coot Simpson Construction Co. Inc. And
Simpson Properties, Inc. His hobbies included FISHING, hunting,
traveling, spending time with friends and FISHING!
Mr. Simpson was preceded in death by his father, T.G..
Survivors include his mother, Willie; wife, Glenda; and their two
sons, Travis T. Simpson and wife, Petra, of Colorado Springs, CO
and Terry D. Simpson and wife, Beth of Studio City, California. He
has four fantastic grandchildren, Tanner, Matthew, Raelyn of
Colorado and Alene of California and sister-in-law Geneva Black of
Ada.
