RUBY M. DAVIS

Ruby Mae Davis, 83, a longtime resident of Morris, died Sunday, January 05, 2003 in Sapulpa. She was born Friday, April 4, 1919 to John F. and Florence (Martin) Jones in Stidham, Okla.

She married Eskol Davis on October 15, 1939 in Lenna, Okla. She worked as a butcher at Neals Thrifty Wise for many years and was a member of the Morris Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eskol in 1971 and six sisters.

Survivors include four daughters, Peggy Marker and husband, Jerry of Sapulpa, Brenda Armstrong and husband, Jack of Sallisaw, Joan Johnson and husband, Marcus of Lahoma, and Dixie Leech and husband Larry of Norman; one son, Gregory Dean Davis and wife, Carol of Sumpter, South Carolina; four sisters, Gertie Hardin of Morris, Jenny Patrick of Lawson, Missouri, Beatrice Pierce of Checotah, and Francis Gamel of Garland, Okla; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 8 at the Morris Church of Christ. Burial will follow in the Morris Cemetery under direction of the Shurden-Kelley Funeral Home of Okmulgee.

Pallbearers are Mark Johnson, Larry Leech, Stacy Johnson, Derek Leech, Greg Myers, Doug Bailey and Larry LaCrone.

ROSALEE LAWLESS

Rosalee Lawless, 80, of Okmulgee, was born June 5, 1922 in Abilene, TX. In 1992 she moved from Gilbert, AZ to Okmulgee. She resided with her daughter Laura J. Love and husband Ray Love of Okmulgee. She went very peacefully and moved from our home to be at home with her Lord and Savior on January 4, 2003.

Rosalee Lawless (Granny) was the little elderly lady who made her way through Wal-Mart paying compliments to everyone she spoke with. She loved to play practical jokes on everyone she would meet. It didn't matter who you are or what you look like or what Nationality you were. She would always let folks know she loved them. But most important she always let folks know that "God loves you and you need to put all your trust in Him." Her strongest desire was to make God Very, Very, Happy.

Mrs. Lawless was preceded in death by her husband Louis Cleatus Lawless.

Survivors include her daughter Laura J. Love and husband Ray of Okmulgee, four grandchildren; Sandy K. Goodno of Okmulgee, Billy R. Love and wife Kelly of Okmulgee, Tony L. Love and wife Lisa of Checotah, OK, Denise L. McElhannon and husband Rick of Okmulgee, and ten great-grandchildren; Dustin R. Goodno of Okmulgee, Matthew R. Love of Okmulgee, Rusty Love of Dewar, OK, Trista R. McElhannon of Okmulgee, Katy Goodno of Okmulgee, Ashley N. Love of Checotah, Amanda S. Love of Okmulgee, Kassie J. McElhannon of Okmulgee, Shelly Davis of Okemah and Wyatt L. McElhannon of Okmulgee.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 7, 2003 at the First Assembly of God in Okmulgee with the Reverend Raymond Doke officiating. Interment will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home in Okmulgee.

Visitation was held from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, January 6, 2003 at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home in Okmulgee.

Casketbearers will be Dustin R. Goodno, Matthew R. Love, Billy R. Love, Rick D. McElhannon, Tony L. Love, Gene Love and Rickie L. Love.

LEONA HUDSON

Funeral services for Leona Gatewood Hudson, age 87 of Enid will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2003 in Ladusau-Evans Chapel at Enid. Rev. Keith Miller will officiate. Burial will be at 3:30p.m. Wednesday in the Okmulgee Cemetery of Okmulgee under direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

She was born January 17, 1917 in Wilburton, Oklahoma to Ross and Minnie Mostellar McClish and died Saturday morning, January 4, 2003 in Integris Bass Baptist Health Center of Enid.

Leona grew up in the Okmulgee area and was a graduate of Okmulgee High School. In 1980, she married Ted Hudson. He preceded her in death in 1995.

Survivors include her son Richard Stephens and his wife Gloria of Enid, seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Hudson, a daughter, Jeannine Thorman and a son Steve Stephens.

LOIS HARRISON

Lois L. Harrison, 82, of Poteau, formerly of Henryetta, died Monday, Jan. 6, 2003, in Poteau. She was born May 10, 1920 in Henryetta to Bertha and Guy Jones.

She was a graduate of Henryetta High School. On January 6, 1943, she was married to Joseph C. Harrison in Farragut, Idaho. He preceded her in death. She was a homemaker, an avid golfer, a member of the Poteau FCE, and the Belle Point Quilters.

Survivors include her son Dr. Terry J. Harrison and his wife Emily of Poteau; three grandchildren and a sister and brother-in-law Mary and Bill Downs of Lindale, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Jackie Harrison, Tommy Harrison, Brad Penny, Will Penny, Kevin Harris and Don Whitfield, nephews of the Harrisons.

Graveside services will be under the direction of Shurden Funeral Home at the Westlawn Cemetery in Henryetta, January 9 at 11:00 a.m.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 8 in Henryetta at the funeral home beginning at 5:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Poteau or Leflore County Youth Services, also of Poteau.

ALBERT BROWN

Albert Brown, 55, a resident of Beggs, died January 5, 2003. Services are pending with the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home.

LORENE AUSTIN

Lorene S. Austin, 82, of Dewar died Jan. 4, 2003 in Tulsa. She was born February 27, 1920 In Ranger, Texas to Allie (Taylor) Hollingsworth and Burl Hollingsworth.

Lorene was a longtime member of the United Pentecostal Church in Dewar. She was preceded in death by her husband L.B. Austin in April of 1988, a brother, Preston Hollingsworth in 1987, sister, Hazel Howard in 1982.

Survivors include her by her 2 daughters, Charla J. Smith, Tulsa; and Judy G. Taber and husband Jerry of Dewar; seven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, one brother, Jackson Hollingsworth and wife Mary, Adair; one sister, Marie Clements and husband Darrell of Taylor, Ark., and a host of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Smith, Doug Fower, Steve Fower, Wendall Smith, Kyle Posey, Travis Posey, Justin Grandstaff, and Heath Shawhart.

Services will be held Wednesday, January 8 at 10:00 a.m. at Dewar United Pentecostal Church of officiated by Rev. Matthew Martin assisted by Rev. M. D. Deal. Burial will be at the New Sonora Cemetery under direction of the Shurden Funeral Home.

CARL NAGEL

Carl Fredrick Nagel, 67, a former resident of Beggs, died on Wednesday, January 1, 2003 at his home in Norman, OK.

Survivors include his wife, Marsha of the home; a sister, Pattie Atchley of Paris, AR; brothers, Ronnie of Oklahoma City and Ben of Beggs..

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, January 8, 2003 at the Edmond, OK Cemetery.

Anthony Montgomery

Anthony Wayne Montgomery, 44, of Beggs, OK died January 5, 2003 at Okmulgee Memorial Hospital. Anthony was born February 9, 1958 in Clinton, OK to Earnest Joe Lewis and Yvonne Montgomery Foy and was reared in Beggs. As a young child Anthony accepted Christ and was baptized in a small pond in Mounds, OK by Reverend Matthew Robertson. He attended Church of Christ for several years and later joined the House of Prayers in Beggs.

Mr. Montgomery attended Wheatley School as well as Beggs Public Schools. During his school years he enjoyed playing football and running track. After his school years he enlisted in the Army National Guard where he received an Honorable Discharge.

Those that precede him in death are his grandmother, Lucille Ross, Grandfathers I.G. Montgomery and Levi J. Ross, a baby sister, a baby brother Marland, A brother Ricky Lewis, an uncle Geno Cowan, a nephew Floyd E. Williamson II.

Survivors include his Mother Yvonne Foy of Beggs, OK, Father Earnest Joe Lewis and his wife Doris of Beggs, grandmother Lucille Young of Beggs, sisters Cassandra Lewis of Tulsa, Vickie E. Jackson of Dayton, Ohio, Evie L. Hillstock of Okmulgee, Latuisha Howard of Beggs, brothers Travis Foy of Oklahoma City, Richard Gregory and Alcardio Foy of Beggs, OK, Jerry Lewis of Tulsa, Marcus Lewis of Tulsa, Earnest Joe Lewis Jr. of Texas and a host of other relatives Nieces, Nephews, Aunts Uncles and Cousins.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 am on Saturday, January 11, 2003 at the First Baptist Church South in Beggs, OK with Dr. Maurice M. Williams officiating and Reverend James Williams assisting. Interment will follow in the Beggs Cemetery under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home in Beggs, OK.

Visitation will be on Friday, January 10, 2003 from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel in Beggs.

Casketbearers will be Carlos Irvin, Theodore Jones, Bobby Irvin, Rodney Tate, Norman Tate, Rufus Furch,

Honorary Casketbearers will be First Baptist Church South Deacons.

MARIE E. PHIPPS

Marie E. Phipps 81, a longtime resident of Morris, died on Tuesday, January 07, 2003 in Okmulgee. She was born on May 23, 1921 in Morris, Oklahoma to Orvil and Ruby Jane (Keeth) Edson.

She graduated from Morris High School and attended Okmulgee Jr. College. She was a homemaker and active with the Morris Senior Citizen programs. Her parents and husband Lloyd Edward Phipps preceded her in death.

Survivors include three daughters Bettie Robertson of Morris, Linda Rodman of Mannford, and Melody Gulley of Henryetta; one son James (Pete) Phipps of Ponca City; six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Thursday, January 9, 2003 at 1 p.m. at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Bill Furnace will officiate. Burial will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Wednesday 1-8 p.m. McClendon-Winters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The family suggests memorials be made in her name to the Morris Senior Citizen Center.

GERTIE HARDIN

Gertie Hardin, 79, died Wednesday, January 8, 2003 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. She was a resident of Morris was born September 23, 1923 in Stidham, Oklahoma to Florence (Martin) Jones and John F. Jones. She was married to Bill Hardin in Eufaula, Ok on October 11, 1947. She was a housewife.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sons, David and John Harvey Pearce, 7 sisters, and 5 grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Hardin, of the home; son, Ted Pearce & wife Mary, Locust Grove; son, Wayne Pearce & wife Margaret, Stigler; daughter, Sandra Walls & husband Charles, Eufuala; daughter, Shelia Hart & husband Kenneth, Morris; daughter, Susan McGee & husband Claud, Morris; son, Billy Hardin & wife Sandy, Morris; son, Gerald Hardin & wife Rose, Locust Grove; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Pearce, Locust Grove; 3 sisters, Jenny Patrick, Lawson, Missouri; and Beatrice Pierce, Checotah; and Frances Gamel, Garland, Texas; 28 grandchildren, numerous great & great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews other family `& friends

Pallbearers will be Sean McGee, Aaron Biggs, Danny Pearce, Steve Politte, and Brian Hart.

Services will be held Friday, January 10, 2003 at 2:00 pm at the First Assembly Of God in Morris officiated by Rev. C.R. Franklin. Burial will be at Morris Cemetery under the direction of Shurden Funeral Home, Henryetta.
