CECELIA WILSON

Cecelia Wilson, 94, a long time resident of Okmulgee died Saturday, January 11, 2003 in a local nursing home. She was born October 11,1908 in Opelousas, LA to Henry and Mary (Gobert) Lyons Sr.

She was a homemaker.

Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, and five children.

Survivors include, four daughters, Florice Thompson and husband Samuel, Bernice Ashley and husband, George, Alice Johnson and husband Leon, all of Okmulgee, Lucille Edwards, Pittsburgh, PA.; two sons, Leon Wilson Jr. and Sandow Wilson Jr, Pittsburgh, PA; two sisters, Mable Carr, Okmulgee, and Alesa Johnson, Tulsa, OK; 25 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral mass will be Friday, at 11:00 a.m. in Uganda Martyrs Catholic Church, with Father Amalor Vima, the celebrant. Interment will be in Our Lady of Grace cemeteryunder the direction of the House of Winn Funeral Home. Rosary will be recited, Thursday evening at 6 p.m. in the Precious Memories Chapel. Visitation, Thursday, 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.

REV. BOBBY GENE KENNEDY

Rev. Bobby Gene Kennedy 72,a resident of Okmulgee, died in Tulsa, OK on January 13 2003. Rev. Kennedy was born on June 5,1930 in Sherman, TX to Willy Van Meter and May (Shackelford) Kennedy. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas, TX, where he was an officer of the ROTC, received a four-year football scholarship from the University of Washington in Seattle, WA. He then moved back to Dallas. In 1971 he graduated from the Christ of the Nations Institute in Dallas. He was licensed with the International Church Foursquare Gospel for 30 yrs. He was Pastor in Roswell, NM, Garland, TX, Fort Worth, TX, Greenville, TX, Midwest City, OK, and Okmulgee, OK from 1999 until present. Rev. Kennedy had done mission work in W. Africa, was co-founder of the Christ Eternity Fellowship in Dallas, TX and had served as Chaplain for the Dallas County Jail and the Okmulgee Police Department. His parents and one sister Sue Reynolds preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife Glinda Sue Lee, who he married September 15, 1996, a daughter and son in law Robin and Stan Tittle of Rotan, TX, a son and daughter in law Christopher and Debbie Kennedy of Paris, TX, step daughters Kim Roach of Blossom, TX and Kerry Cowart, Abilene, TX, step sons David Hunt of San Antonio, TX and Jessie Hunt of Merkel, TX, a sister and brother in law Billie and Peyton Wade of Dallas, TX; twelve grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2003 at 9 a.m. at the Foursquare Gospel Church in Okmulgee. Rev. Henry Jacobs will officiate. The McClendon-Winters Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Other services will take place in Rotan, TX.

ABEL WARREN

Abel Warren, 81, longtime resident of Okmulgee died Tuesday, January 14, 2003 in a Oklahoma City nursing home.

Arrangements are pending with the House of Winn Funeral Home.

ERNEST INGRAM

Ernest William Ingram, 52, of Henryetta died Jan. 11, 2003. He was born Feb. 21, 1950 in Henryetta, Okla. to Ernest W. and Vivian Marie Ingram.

He served in the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1969 as a Green Beret, Demolition Expert and Special Weapons Expert. He was at the Tet offensive and Hamburger Hill. He was in special operations while in Vietnam. Wounded in battle he received 22 wounds to his body while serving his country that he loved so much. He was awarded the Purple Heart, bronze and a silver star for his bravery beyond the call of duty. He was involved in the martial arts before his duty in Vietnam. He achieved the masters level for his martial arts and was recognized by many great martial arts masters for his ability. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Sabrina.

Services were at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 14, 2003 at the Rogers Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Ray Weathers gave the Eulogy. Burial was at the Westlawn Cemetery. Services were conducted by the Rogers Funeral Home.

MARY DOUGLAS

Mary Douglas, 49, of Henryetta died January 12, 2003 in Tulsa. She was born February 1, 1953 in Kiowa,Okla., to Willie and Wilma (Coalston) Drake.

She was a homemaker and a faithful member of the General Assembly and Church of the First Born. Her parents and a granddaughter Vikki Ouellette precede her in death.

Survivors include two daughters. Rickie Ouellette and husband Keith of McAlester and Kristie Harper and husband Ricky Lewis of Savanna; three grandchildren, three sisters, Wanda Lewis and husband Kenny of Oklahoma City, Betty Garcia of Shawnee, and Sally Sherrill of Stidham; two brothers, Bobby Drake and wife Marilyn of Savanna and Danny Drake and wife Jeannie of Kiowa; other relatives and many friends.

Services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 15, 2003 at the General Assembly and Church of the First Born with Bro. Gary Greenfield officiating. Burial will follow at the New Senora Cemetery under the direction of the Rogers Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Jack Pippin, Rick Pippin, Jim Juno, Brek Short, Tom Rule and Kenneth Thompson.

DEACON LEE WALKER

Deacon Lee Walker, 96, of Tulsa and formerly of Okmulgee, died Jan. 11, 2003 in Tulsa.

He was a retired custodian.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Jan 18, at 2 p.m., at the First Baptist Church Central under direction of the New Dyer Memorial Chapel, Inc. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday, Jan 17 from 100 a.m., until 7 p.m., at Dyer Funeral Chapel.

SAMUEL EDWIN WADLEY

Samuel Edwin Wadley Jr., 78, of Beggs died on Saturday, January 11, 2003 at his home. He was born July 26, 1924 in Wirt, OK to Samuel Edwin Wadley Sr. and Anna Lou (Oliphant) Wadley.

Mr. Wadley later married Davena Marie (Cowan). He worked as a Civil Servant for the Department of Army for most of his life and the Bureau of Indian Affairs for the last 10 years. He was a member of the Army Air Corp and the Army and served in World War II and the Korean War. At home Samuel like to read and work cross word puzzles. Those that preceded him in death are his parents.

Survivors include his wife Davena Marie Cowan, a daughter Jane Romero, a son Samuel Edwin Wadley III of Albuquerque, one granddaughter, two great grandchildren, a brother Roger O. Wadley of Grove, a sister Sara Jane Miller in Oklahoma City.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm, Wednesday, January 15, 2003 at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel in Beggs with Reverend Dick Knox with Reverend Charles Puckett assisting. Burial will follow in the Mounds Cemetery with Masonic Rites conducted there. Services are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home in Beggs.

Casketbearers will be John Maly, Eddie Green, Edward Smith, Clarence Hamm, Tommy Gilbert and Ron Pelham.

Visitation was from 12 noon until 8:00 p.m. at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel in Beggs on Tuesday, January 14.

ETTA TIMMONS

Etta Timmons, 92, of Henryetta died Jan. 11, 2003 at Henryetta. She was born March 8, 1910 in Sitry, Oklahoma to Clara Ann and George Edward Griswold.

She was married to Holbert Timmons April 26, 1944. She was a homemaker and a member of Dewar United Pentecostal Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Holbert Timmons, April 23, 1952, her parents George and Clara Griswold, two Brothers Lloyd Griswold, Bill Griswold, three Sisters: Erma Palmer, Bertha Andorfer, and Faye Foster.

She is survived by two children, Frieda VanZant and husband Dale, Phoenix, Arizona; Ralph D. Thompson and wife Frances, Henryetta, seven grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, two sisters in law, and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and other relatives.

Pallbearers will be Rev. Gregg Joki, Richard Wayne Pulliam, Terry Morris, Donald Walker, Joe Wade and Norman Rogers.

Services will be held Thursday, January 16, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at The United Pentecostal Church in Dewar, Oklahoma, officiated by Rev. Matthew Martin and Rev. M. D. Deal. Burial will be at Westlawn Cemetery under the direction of Shurden Funeral Home.

JANE ANN JOHNSTON

Jane Ann Johnston, age 42, passed away Friday, January 3, 2003, in Albuquerque, N.M. She was born March 16, 1960 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Howard Pat and Virginia (Barrett) Perry. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Howard and Eunice Perry of Okmulgee.

She is survived by daughters Leslie Martinez, Samantha Johnston and son Richard "Cooper" Johnston of Albuquerque; mother and step-father Virginia and Bill Inman of Corpus Christi, Texas, father and step-mother Pat and Donna Perry of Okmulgee; sisters Susan Taylor of Albuquerque and Nancy Parsons of W. Monroe, LA., brothers Mark Inman of Corpus Christi and Mike Perry of Okmulgee; grandparents Ray and Lucille Barrett of Tulsa, several nieces and nephews and many loving friends.

A memorial service was held Thursday, January 9, 2003 at the Vista Verde Mortuary Chapel, Pastor Rick Donaho officiating, with interment in Vista Verde Memorial Park, Albuquerque.

The family requests that local memorial gifts be made to the Okmulgee County Family Resource Center: OCFRC - Safehouse, P. O.Box 73, Okmulgee, OK 74447.

JERRY LYNN BATES

Jerry Lynn Bates, Okmulgee resident, passed away Wednesday night, January 8, 2003 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was 66 years of age. Mr. Bates was born in Okmulgee on January 28, 1936 to Edgar Lynn and Katie Mae (Mayes) Bates. He was a plumber, a member of the VFW Post 1189 and the Elk's Lodge 1822. Survivors and arrangements will be announced by the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.

RUBY MARIE WHITE

Ruby Marie White, longtime Okmulgee resident, died Monday evening, January 13, 2003 at Okmulgee Memorial Hospital. She was 94 years of age. Mrs. White was born July 15, 1908 in Osage County to Miles and Lou (Musgrave) Johnston. She was raised in Osage County until the age of five when her family moved to Bartlesville. She graduated from Bartlesville High School in 1927, and became the secretary to the Superintendent of Bartlesville Schools. As a senior in high school she was the state typing champion, winning a trip to New York City, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C. to participate in the National Competition.

She married Burrell Stewart and moved to Okmulgee in 1936 with Phillips Petroleum. He preceded her in death in 1975. Mrs. White had worked at Okmulgee Land and Title for many years prior to her retirement. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Okmulgee. She later married Latta White, who also preceded her in death. In addition to her husbands, her parents, two brothers, Leroy Johnston and Monroe Johnston and a sister, Eula Johnston Kelley, also preceded her in death.

Survivors include a daughter, Dianne Burgess of Okmulgee, a son, Dan Stewart of Edwards, Colorado, a step-daughter, Joyce Carson and husband Carly of Okmulgee, five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday, January 16, 2003 at the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Frank Lewis officiating.

Burial will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery with Everett Rea, Timothy Rea, Kevin Rea, Spencer Stewart, and Alex Rea, grandsons and great grandsons serving as casketbearers.

Friends may visit the funeral home from 12-8 PM on Wednesday. Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.

JANE ANN JOHNSTON

JESSIE PARKER

Jessie Vernon Parker, longtime Okmulgee resident, died Sunday, January 12, 2003 in Okmulgee at the age of 77. He was born August 28, 1925 in Okmulgee to Albert and Merlie Parker.

He was a Veteran of the United States Army. He married Lois Fay McDonald in December 1947 at Muskogee. He was a Civil Engineer and was of the Baptist Faith. He had lived in Wichita for many years prior to returning to Okmulgee. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a brother, Ambrose Parker.

Survivors include his two sons, Vernon Parker of Arnold, Missouri and Calvin Parker and wife Georgia of Wichita, Kansas, ten grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 16, 2003 at the Hitchita-Lackey Cemetery. Friends may visit the funeral home from 10 a.m., until 8 p.m. on Wednesday. Arrangements are under the direction of the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
