JERRY LYNN BATES

Jerry Lynn Bates, Okmulgee resident, died Wednesday night, January 9, 2003 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was 66 years of age. Mr. Bates was born in Okmulgee on January 28, 1936 to Edgar Lynn and Katie Mae (Mayes) Bates. He was a plumber, a member of the VFW Post 1189 and the Elk's Lodge 1822. His parents preceded him in death.

Survivors include three daughters Susan Hord of Kellyville, Sevena Prapher of Tulsa, and Jerri Lynn Welsh of Fayetteville, AR, five sons Russell Blaylock, Jay Blaylock both of Hominy, Joey Blaylock of Mannford, Michael of Tulsa, and James Robert Bates of Greensburgh, PA, two brothers Jim Bates, Okmulgee and Gordon Bates of Tulsa, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Memorial services will be held at the McClendon-Winters Chapel in Okmulgee at 10:30 on Saturday, January 18, 2003.

DEACON LEE WALKER

Deacon Lee Walker, 96, of Tulsa and formerly of Okmulgee, died Jan. 11, 2003 in Tulsa.

He was a retired custodian.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Jan 18, at 2 p.m., at the First Baptist Church Central under direction of the New Dyer Memorial Chapel, Inc. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday, Jan 17 from 100 a.m., until 7 p.m., at Dyer Funeral Chapel.

ELIZABETH POWELL KISER

Elizabeth Powell Kiser, 82, died Friday, January 17, 2003. She was born on May 15, 1920 to Edgar and Corlee Powell.

She was a longtime resident of Okmulgee, retiring from J.C. Penney after 37 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Fred W. Kiser, son Ricky Kiser, and sister Katherine Benge.

Survivors include her daughters Alma Stanley and Bonnie Sullivan of Tulsa, Sharon Kiser of Sacramento, CA; sister Betty Hill of Shreveport, LA; six grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.

Donations are requested to be sent to Ambassador Manor Nursing Home or Crossroads Hospice in Tulsa.

GEORGE "HOOK" LAWRENCE

George "Hook" Lawrence, 83, passed away Thursday, January 9, 2003. He was born on September 15, 1919 in Lehigh, Oklahoma to Anne (Ryan) Lawrence and James Lawrence. He was raised in Henryetta and graduated from St. Michael's. He married Anne Jeanne Scheirmann on January 2, 1943. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a retired Pittsburgh Plate Glass supervisor.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Frank Lawrence, Jim Lawrence, and Bill Lawrence; sister, Flossie Carte; stepfather, Joe Kearney; grandson, Jeff Lawrence, and great-granddaughter, Hanna Svoboda.

Survivors include Anna Jeanne Lawrence, his beloved wife of 60 years; daughters, Mrs. Red (Linda) Davenport; and Mrs. Morris (Susan) Dodge; sons, George Lawrence II; and Louis Lawrence; sister, Maybelle Taylor; brother, Jack Kearney; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A private, family memorial service is planned. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Jeff Lawrence Memorial Scholarship Fund at the American Exchange Bank of Henryetta or to the American Cancer Society.

ROSIE M. WARD

Rosie Mae Ward, 77, of Hitchita died Jan. 16, 2003. She was born December 25,1925 in Hitchita to Ellen and Mark Barnes.

She was married to Linley J. Ward at Okmulgee on July 5, 1968. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son James Rodgers, Feb 7, 2002, 2 brothers, Leonard Barnes and Dan Barnes, and one sister, Dolly Rodgers

Survivors include her husband, Linley Ward of the home; two sons, Roy Rodgers and wife Pearley and John Ward and wife Sherri, all of Hitchita; four daughters, Martha Jones and husband J.L. of Hitchita, Dorothy Marler of Henryetta, Linda Jackson and husband Norman of Noble and Judy Ward Nichol and husband David of Lubbock, Texas; one brother, Eugene Barnes, Kansas City, Missouri; 18 grandchildren 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-Grandchild.

Services will be held Monday, January 20, at 2:00 p.m. at Hitchita Holiness Church officiated by Rev. Duke Britt. Burial will be at Lackey Cemetery under direction of Shurden Funeral Home.

VIRGINIA SMITH

Virginia Smith, 74, of Tulsa died Jan. 18. 2003. She was born May 3, 1928 in Ozark, Ark., to Luther and Annie (Nordin) Brewer.

Virginia was a homemaker and a member of Summitpark Full Gospel Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Glenna Mize and husband, Wiakeen "Wally" and Joann Schulz and husband, Terry, both of Tulsa; three sons, Bill Smith and wife Milissia of Okmulgee, Ricky Smith and wife Linda of Wagoner and Paul Smith and wife Bobbi of Tulsa; daughter -in-law, Pat Smith of Tulsa; one sister, Paula Bogle of Tulsa; a sister-in-law, Wanda Brewer of Arkansas; two brothers, her twin, Earl Brewer and his wife Mary Sue of Tulsa, and Bobby Brewer and wife Beverly of Tulsa; 14 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, R.G. Smith; her parents; one son, Steve Smith; one brother, Tom Brewer; one grandson and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral ceremony will be 2:00 p.m, Wednesday, January 22, 2003, at Summitpark Full Gospel with Reverend William C. Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Sunrise Cemetery, under the direction of Alderwoods-Heath Funeral Home and Cremation Center.

EMMA MORRISON

Emma Richardson Morrison, 91, of Tulsa and formerly of Okmulgee, died Jan17, 2003.

In addition to two daughters, she is survived by three nieces, Lula Mae Littlejohn, Alice Young and Bertha Richardson, all of Okmulgee. She was preceded in death by a brother, James Richardson Sr.

Funeral arrangements are pending with the Jackson Memorial Chapel in Tulsa.

MARIAN DONATI

Marian Elizabeth Donati, 53, longtime Henryetta resident, died at Henryetta. She was born Oct. 17, 1949 at Henryetta to Enrico Donati and Jean Munds.

She loved animals and enjoyed attending church. She was preceded in death by her mother, Jean Munds.

Survivors include her father, Enrico Donati of Henryetta; two brothers, Charles and Sue Donati of Midwest City and Joe and Cynthia Donati of Henryetta; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 22, at the Abundant Life Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Becky Watkins officiating. Burial will be at Senora Cemetery under direction of the Robert Simons Funeral Home of Henryetta.

Pallbearers will be Don Adams, Jessie Dean, Dwayne Rumple, Alan Henshaw, Arley Smith and Eddie Buzan.

EUPHEMIA ALLENSWORTH

Euphemia Allensworth, a life long resident of Henryetta, died January 18, 2003 in Wichita Falls, Texas. She was born to Margaret and George Cullen in Savanna, Oklahoma.

Shortly thereafter they moved to Henryetta. Her marriage to Roscoe Allensworth was June 11,1940, He preceded her in death. She was an elementary school teacher for many years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and belonged to Chapter AP, PEO in Henryetta.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Margaret Ann and Dr. Farid Khoury of Wichita Falls, Texas; two grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside Services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 25, 2003 a Westlawn Cemetery with Rev. Richard Geiger, officiating. Services are under direction of Shurden Funeral Home.

The family will greet friends at the First Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall, located behind the main sanctuary, at 12:00 noon Saturday, January 25.

ABEL WARREN

Abel Warren, 81, a long time resident of Okmulgee died Tuesday, January 14, 2003 in an Oklahoma City nursing home. He was born May 17, 1922 in Beggs, OK to Lucas Warren and Milie (Jefferson) Warren.

He received an honorable discharge from the U. S. Marine Corps in 1946. Abel was a retired farmer.

Preceding him in death are his parents and wife Christine in 1998.

Survivors include one brothers Woodrow Warren, Oklahoma City, and four sisters, Ora Lee Johnson, Preston, Trulie Peters, Columbus, OH, Etta Evans, Columbus, OH and Anna Simmons, Columbus, OH, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

A Homegoing Celebration will be conducted Thursday, January 23, at 11:00 a.m. in the Church of God Evening Lights Saints with Bro. Charles Lowe officiating.

Burial will be in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery under the direction of House of Winn Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

HAROLD MILLER

Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 31 at Immanuel Baptist Church in Henryetta for Harold Dwain Miller, 70. He died at his home in Henyetta Tuesday, January 28, 2002, following a two year bout with cancer.

The funeral service will be officiated by Dr. James Ray, pastor at Immanuel and the Rev. Kenneth Romines, former pastor of the church. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Wewoka.

He was born on June 9, 1932 in Wewoka to Leona (Ulmer) and Ben Wray Miller. He graduated from Wewoka High School in 1950. Miller married Nancy Turner, in 1952 in Holdenville at the Capitol Heights Missionary Baptist Church. They moved to California and moved back to Wewoka in May, 1960, where they resided until 1985 when they moved to Henryetta. He was always active in helping youth of the community, and was well-known for his activities in the Optimist Club of Henryetta, serving as Governor of the Oklahoma District Optimists in 1992. He started the junior Optimist Club Golf Tourney and led the Henryetta Club to hold the annual Optimist Fishing Derby in Henryetta. He led music in many southern Baptist Churches in and around Holdenville and Wewoka. He also led music several years in the Immanuel Baptist Church of Henryetta. He was honored by the Henryetta Boy Scout organization and in 2001 and received recognition as an Honorary Eagle Scout, an honor he narrowly missed as a teenager when he belonged to the organization in Wewoka. A scholarship was set up in his name at Wewoka High School last year in honor of the work he has done with youth in the Optimist Club. Miller was an accomplished photographer, having successfully completed a photography course from the Oklahoma School of Photography after he was disabled by Guillian-Barre Syndrome in 1976. He ran his own photography shop in Wewoka before moving to Henryetta. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy, of the home in Henryetta; one son, Bob and his wife, Terri; three grandchildren, one sister, Hedy Justice of Florida; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob and Mary Ann Turner of Tulsa, other relatives and friends. The family welcomed visitors at Rogers Funeral Home Thursday evening after 6 p.m. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Persons wishing to show their respect are invited to make contribution to the Henryetta Optimist Club in care of the First Family Federal Credit Union.

ARTIE LEE CANDIOTO

Artie Lee Candioto, 84, a longtime resident of Okmulgee, died Tuesday, January 28, 2003 in Okmulgee. Services are 2:00p.m. Friday, January 31, 2003 at the Kelley Chapel with the Reverend Willis Baldridge officiating. Burial will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery under the direction of the Shurden-Kelley Funeral Home of Okmulgee.

She was born August 21, 1918 to Artie H. (Shannon) and Clyde Smith in the state of Texas. She was a member of the Crosstown Pentecostal Holiness Church, Nettie B. Fair Chapter 241 and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include one son, Joe Candioto of Leawood, Kansas; two brothers, Chester Smith of Henryetta and Herbert Smith and wife Peggy of Wichita Falls, Texas; one sister, Clara Crutchmer and husband Vernon of Okmulgee, three grandsons and four great grandchildren.
