Rocky Jess Stone
Memorial services for Rocky Jess Stone, 43, were held Friday, Dec. 13 at 10:00 a.m. at the Clagg Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bill Leveridge officiating.
He was born on Thursday, March 19, 1959 in Mathis, Texas to Kenneth Stone and Billie Easley Stone. He died Tuesday, Dec. 10 in Sulphur.
He grew up in Texas and Sulphur, and graduated from Sulphur High School. He worked in the oil field.
He is survived by his two brothers, Joe Stone, Corpus Christi, Texas and Toby Richards, Temecula, Calif.; one sister, Shelia Richards, Sulphur and his step-father, Frank Richards, Fort Davis, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Jewell DeVaughan
Graveside services for Jewell DeVaughan, 81, were held Friday, Dec. 13 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Betty Stone officiating. Interment was at the Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Cowley-Krien Funeral Home.
She was born on December 27, 1920 in Lookeba, Okla. to Wilburn DeVaughan and Charity Durrough. She died December 11 in Sulphur.
She lived in Binger, Anadarko and Lawton before coming to Sulphur. She was a piano teacher in this area for almost 50 years.
She is survived by her sister, Evaline Harris and her husband, Paul, Sulphur; one niece, Linda Estlack and her husband, Mark, Sulphur; one nephew, Les O. White, Henryetta; three great nieces and nephews, Skip Seeley, Schelle Seeley and Shawn Seeley; one great-great nephew; three great-great nieces and host of former students and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Carl Clark
Services for Carl Clark, Idabel, were held on November 12 with Rev. Oscar Wilkie officiating.
He was born December 31, 1918 in the Koller community to DE and Willie Louise Clark. He died November 8 in Dallas, Texas.
He graduated high school at Hickory, then attended Murray State College in Tishomingo. He signed up for duty during WWII and flew 30 missions as a B-17 Pilot in Europe. He was the last B-17 pilot still active and continued to fly air shows for the Collings Foundation. After the war, Carl began his business in the Idabel area where he operated the Rocket Roller Rink until his death.
He is survived by his wife, Maudie Clark, of the home; a sister, Lorene Landers, Lavaca, Ark.; a brother, Dr. Don Clark, Shawnee; two sons, Ronnie Clark, Dallas, Texas and Jeff Flowers, Sulphur.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Elma Clark-Norwood and his son Gene.

Brenda Ann Brown
Services for Brenda Ann Brown, 54, were held Saturday, Dec. 14 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Richmond Adams officiating. Interment was at the Drake Cemetery under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home.
She was born on Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1948 in Sulphur to Guy Elmer Kennedy and Lois Ann Turner Kennedy. She died Tuesday, Dec. 10 in Sulphur.
On October 29, 1966 she married Jerry Brown in Sulphur.
She had lived in Murray County all of her life, graduating from Sulphur High school in 1966. She was salutatorian for the 1977 graduating class of Southern Okla. Technology Center's licensed practical nurse's program. She was AMPI Ladies Auxiliary, first female delegate to National Convention for the Association of Milk Producers.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry, of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Tricia Brown, Sulphur; her mother, Lois Frost, Sulphur; two sisters, Janet Brewer and her husband, Russell, Sulphur; Marsha Kennedy, Pauls Valley; two grandchildren, Joesie and Tucker Brown; nieces and nephews, Jason and Josh Brewer, Becky Nevels, Glenda Kahlor, Tim and Tom Kahlor and Judy Kahlor.
She was preceded in death by her father, Guy Kennedy, infant son, and her step-father, Leon Frost.
Pallbearers were, Todd Curry, Daniel Stephens, Steve Nevels, Jimmy Wayne Rackley, Ron Kelly, Jay Standifer, and Billy Frank Lance.
Honorary pallbearers were Jim Freeman, Tim Stinson, W.R. "Bill" Fulton, Jerry Wade, Bob Birch, Don Goodnight, Joe Green, Ralph Watson, and Harold Winyard.

James Gilbert
Graveside services for James Gilbert, 77, Ada, formerly of Davis, were held Tuesday, Dec. 17 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. John Joughin officiating. Interment was at the Green Hill Cemetery, Davis, under the direction of Fox Funeral Home.
He was born November 2, 1925 in California to Mr. and Mrs. Dee Gilbert. He died December 14 in Ada.
He was married to Gertrude Gilbert. She preceded him in death on February 20, 2002.
He had worked as a handyman most of his life. He had lived in Davis for several years and had lived in an Ada nursing center since 1998.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Dempsey Weston Eakin
Graveside services for Dempsey Weston Eakin, 66, where held Saturday, Dec. 14 at 1:30 p.m. with Chaplain Steve Mahan officiating. Interment was at the Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home.
He was born on Monday, June 22, 1936 in Rising Star, Texas to Roland Eakin and Claresa Marie Calvin Eakin. He died Thursday, Dec. 12 in Sulphur.
He lived in this area since early 1960's. He worked as a welder for the Dolese Company and he had worked for the highway maintenance crew for Murray County District 1.
He is survived by three daughters, Brenda Smelser, Odessa, Texas, Anita Tucker, Port Naches, Texas, and Ellie Eakin, Sulphur; one son, Bobby Glenn Eakin, Odessa, Texas; one brother, Doug Eakin, Rising Star, Texas; two sisters, Grace "Sammy" Hamilton, Odessa, Texas and Sheila Coffey, Brownwood, Texas; step children, Scotty, Vance, Marcell; eight grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Kenneth Eakin.

Benjamin C. Smith

Benjamin C."Benny" Smith passed away Jan.28, 2003 at home in Corinth, Texas from complications of lung cancer, broken hip and pneumonia. He was born at home in Sulphur, Ok. on 19 March 1927 to Charles S. and Nova H. Smith. His father was the Frisco Railway agent in Sulphur for many years. He attended school in Sulphur to the 10th grade, and was a notable drummer in the band at an early age. He finished High School in Holdenville. He joined the merchant marines as a sailor and later, the U.S. Army 24th Division Band in Japan after WWII. He graduated from The University of Oklahoma majoring in music, and received a Masters Degree. Ben married Gertrude Griffith, in 1949, and they had four children. He worked as a musician, playing in bands, and writing music. Later he was an insurance agent, and also worked for the State of Oklahoma welfare department from which he retired.
He is survived by his wife, Judith Moffett Smith, of their home, and his four children, Philip L. Smith of Dennison, Tx. Karl S. Smith of Oklahoma City, Victor N. Smith of Detroit, MI, and Jo Anna Smith of Stillwater, and 10 grandchildren, also by two brothers Dr. Philip B. Smith and Charles H."Ted" Smith and sister-in-law, Mary Ann Smith, and their families.
His remains were willed to the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, Dallas, Texas, and no formal ceremonies are planned. A private family ceremony honoring his life was held.

David Alan Bivens
Graveside services for David Alan Bivens, 47 were held Thursday, Jan. 30 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Emery Mason officiating. Interment was at the Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Clagg Funeral Home.
He was born Wednesday, Jan. 4, 1956 in Ada to Billy Ray Bivens and Geneva Smith Bivens. He died Wednesday, Jan. 29 in Ada.
He had lived in this area all of his life. He graduated from Sulphur High School in 1974 and worked in construction as a carpenter.
He is survived by his mother, Geneva Bivens, Sulphur; a daughter, Feleena Bivens, Norman; two sons, Wesley Bivens and his wife, Tammy, Sulphur and Phillip Bivens, Rochester, Minn.; a granddaughter, Ashley Nicole Bivens, Sulphur; a special friend, Glenda Kahlor, Sulphur.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Bivens in 2002 and a brother, Don Ray Bivens in 1976.

Naomi Iona Dunn
Services for Naomi Iona Dunn, 87, Ada, were held Thursday, Jan. 30 at 10:00 a.m. at Smith-Phillips Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Elkins officiating. Internment was at Memorial Park Cemetery, Ada under the direction of Smith-Phillips Funeral Home.
She was born on March 9, 1915 in Elmore City to George Malicoat and Rosa Bell Pyle Malicoat. She died Monday, Jan. 27 in Ada.
On October 19, 1928 she married Melton Dunn. He preceded her in death on September 17, 1960.
She attended school at Elmore City. She worked for Dr. Haugen as a Housekeeper for 25 years. She was a member of the Easter Star since 1955.
She is survived by her daughter, Helen Summers, Roff; a son, Donald M. Dunn, Ardmore; eight grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 26 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; a sister and a grandson.
Pallbearers were Jim Summers, Rick Summers, Ray Tharp, Monroe Dunn, James Dilbeck and Johnny Hayes.

Minerva Inez Hill
Graveside services for Minerva Inez Hill,87, were held Wednesday, Feb. 5 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Bob Moody officiating. Interment was at Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Cowley-Krien Funeral Home.
She was born December 19, 1915 in Wilburton to A.P. Mitchell and Gertrude Lawson. She died Saturday, Feb. 1 in Sulphur.
She attended high school in Cromwell and attended East Central University for one year. She moved to Sulphur in 1949 where she lived and worked the reminder of her life. She attended Sulphur United Methodist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Iwana Crowe, Sulphur; four grandchildren, Danna Bernardi, Sonny Lance Jr., Sondra Moses, Kevin Lance; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, George Mitchell, Baton Rouge, La.; one sister-in-law, June Mitchell, Ada; and an aunt, Snook Dunnigan, Oklahoma City.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Nicky Lance; brother, Spike Mitchell; and a sister, Fava Bolan; and her parents.
