Hermon Lee Watson
Lifelong area resident Hermon Lee Watson, 85, of Wynnewood died Feb. 6, 2005, and funeral services were Feb. 8 at Krien Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Finis Steelman officiated, and burial was in Green Hill Cemetery with Krien Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Watson was born Oct. 6, 1919, in Sulphur to Bon and Eula Mae (Morris) Watson and died at Callaway Nursing Home. He graduated from Woodland High School in 1936 and had lived all his life in the Wynnewood and Davis areas, where he was a farmer and rancher. He was a member of the Beaty Baptist Church and was a Mason.
His survivors include a brother, B.L. Watson of Pahrump, Nev.; a daughter-in-law, Wanda Watson of Davis; three grandchildren, Dorena White of Davis, Penny Johnson of Velma and Tony Watson of Wynnewood, and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Aaron Lometti, Cavin Jones, Royce Jones, Dick Jones, Don Jones and Buddy Mulkey. Honorary bearers were Howard Hanni, D.O. Salter and Jimmy Smith.

Bill Rankin
Services for 1st Lt. Bill Rankin, 34, Davis, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 21 at the Midway Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Willard McCartney, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Hennepin Cemetery with Hale's Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Born October 1, 1971 in Pauls Valley to Jerry and Louise (Gregg) Rankin, he died Saturday, Dec. 17.
A graduate of Davis High School in 1989, he married Carol Gardner on February 28, 1994 at Honolulu, Hawaii. He later attended Oklahoma State University. He joined the U.S. Air Force in June, 1992 and while there received his Master's Degree, achieving the rank of First Lieutenant.
He distinguished himself in the performance of his service to the United States as an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile Combat Crew Assistant Flight Commander of the 742nd Missile Squadron, 91st Operations Group, 91st Space Wing at Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota.
During his tenure, the wing received an "excellent rating" from the Air Force's inspector general. He updated 105 pages of simulator instruction in response to a revision of the national war plan and provided 344 hours of comprehensive training to missile combat crews resulting in highly qualified ratings. His stellar support led to his recognition as a Professional Team member during the 2004 Nuclear Surety Inspection. His expertise in nuclear operations were instrumental to the squadron's receipt of the Teddy Roosevelt trophy as "Missile Squadron of the Year" for 2004. He was awarded Meritorious Service Medal on November 23, 2005.
Survivors include his wife, Carol, of the home; a daughter, Amber; a son, Luke; a stepdaughter, Lara and a stepson, Christopher; his parents, Jerry and Louise Rankin, Davis; his grandfather, William Rankin, Davis; four brothers, Wayne, Wynnewood; Terry, Waurika; Jason, Purcell and Michael Rankin, Joy; two sisters, Sherry Miller, Ada and Stacy Roberts, Ardmore and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Don and Dorothy Gregg and paternal grandmother, Elsie Rankin.
Pallbearers will be the Tinker Air Force Base Honor Guard. Honorary bearers will be Jason, Wayne, Terry and Michael Rankin, Shane Hale, Claude Miller, Ryan Rankin, Jason McCandless, John Tobey, Brian NeSmith, Howard Aaron and David Atkinson.

Edward "Leeroy" Maxon
Edward "Leeroy" Maxon, 70, of Mill Creek died Dec. 18, 2005, at Ardmore. The Rev. Claud Williams will officate at funeral services Wednesday (today) at 2 p.m. at the Mill Creek Cemetery.
Maxon was born Sept. 23, 1935, in Kingfisher to Dutch and Fannie (Strange) Conley. He attended school in Sulphur. He married Mina Leah Hughes and then joined the U.S. Army. After his discharge, he joined the U.S. Air Force, where he served for 22 years, obtaining the rank of staff sergeant. During his time in the Air Force, he served in both the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He retired from military service 18 years ago and moved to Mill Creek.
He is survived by seven children, David and Barry Maxon, both of Oklahoma City, Ron and Steve Maxon, both of Norman, Vicki Baker of Pottsboro, Texas, Pam Bice of Troy and Debra Hamilton of Karen Crow, La.; a brother, Duke Maxon of California; a sister, Alice Farr of Alabama, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Pallbearers are Johnnie Walker, ChuckBaker, Dennis Hamilton, Stephen Taylor, Trenton Taylor and Scooter Taylor.
Krien Funeral Home of Sulphur is in charge of the arrangements.

Allen Ray Norman
Allen Ray Norman, 62, of Pauls Valley died Dec. 12, 2005, at Pauls Valley. Services were Dec. 15 at the Stufflebean-Coffey Chapel in Pauls Valley with the Rev. Jim Densman officiating. Burial was at the Paoli Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Krien Funeral Home of Sulphur.
Norman was born Oct. 12, 1943, to J.R. Norman and Lucille (Huff) Norman Hawkins in Pauls Valley. He grew up in the Paoli and Pauls Valley areas and graduated from Paoli High School in 1961. He established Norman Brothers Tank Trucks in 1980. He married Mary Jo McElwee in March 1985. He worked as an oil field contract pumper until his death. He loved deer hunting, the outdoors and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of the home; his former wife, Gayle Cunningham Krien of Sulphur; two daughters, Allynna Rayna Evans of Noble and Natha Norton of Oklahoma City; two grandchildren, Keith Allen and Kayla of Noble; two stepsons, Jason Scott of Yukon and Shane Green of Pauls Valley; six brothers, Jerry Norman, Glendall Norman and Ricky Norman, all of Paoli, Lonnie Norman and Johnny Norman, both of Pauls Valley, and Richard Norman of Saginaw, Texas; and a sister, Gail Lee of Ardmore.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Pallbearers were his brothers and Myron Ely.

Billie Jean Pope
Billie Jean Pope, 80, of Sulphur died Dec. 11, 2005, at Callaway Nursing Home in Sulphur. Private family services were Dec. 14 at the First Baptist Church in Dougherty with the Rev. Finis Steelman officiating.
Mrs. Pope was born Dec. 4, 1925, to Raymond and Margaret (Douglas) McBroom in Baylor, Texas, and grew up there. She moved to Ardmore in 1972 to be near her family. She met and married Corley White, and they were married 25 years.
After his death, she married Arlis Pope. They had an auto salvage located in Sulphur and later in Davis. She worked for nearly six years at the Sweet Shop and two years at Kentucky Fried Chicken in Sulphur. As her Alzheimer's illness progressed, she lived at Burford Manor Nursing Home in Davis and Callaway Nursing Home.
She loved gardening, her flowers and her poodles. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Davis.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Sonny McBroom.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary Ford of Dougherty and Corley Sue James of Grants, N.M., five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Krien Funeral Home of Sulphur was in charge of arrangements.

Eddie Lee Day
Eddie Lee Day, 62, of Healdton died Dec. 13, 2005, in Healdton. Graveside services were Dec. 16 at Drake Cemetery in Sulphur with the Rev. Joe Downing officiating. Services were under the direction of Krien Funeral Home of Sulphur.
Day was born Dec. 7, 1943, in Lawton to Troy Lee and Clara Mae (Smith) Day. He married Norma Watkins May 7, 1962, in Waurika, and they moved to the Howe Ranch at Nebo in 1973. In 1981, they moved to Davis, where he worked at Picks Hot Tamales as a general manager.
He is survived by his wife of the home; two daughters, Charlotte Rowell of Norman and LeAnn Day of McComb; three brothers, Jerry Day of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Lyndell Day and Ronnie Day, both of Woodbine, N.J.; a sister, LaCreta Catleti of Wichita Falls, Texas, and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Larry Day.
Pallbearers were Matt Coffman, Derek Allen, Brent Coffman, Kandyce Allen, Oscar Mitchell and Josh Craven. Honorary bearers were Joe Catleti Sr. and Joe Catleti Jr.

Pearlene E. Willhoit
Pearlene E. Willhoit, 80, died Dec. 16, 2005, in Sherman, Texas. Graveside services were Dec. 20 at Oaklawn Cemetery with the Rev. William E. Malphrus officiating.
Mrs. Willhoit was born April 21, 1925, in Spur, Texas, to Perl E. and Hazel Ruby (Lady) Bailey. She grew up and attended school in Spur. She married Pete Mathis Willhoit on April 6, 1945, in Lubbock, Texas. They moved to Slaton, Texas, and in 1988, moved to Sulphur, where she resided until her death.
She is survived by two children, Glenn Mathis Willhoit of Kerrville, Texas, and Nickie McCurry of Sherman; a sister, Grace Fare of Sulphur; a nephew, John Aaron Willhoit of Sulphur; five grandchildren, Michael Gatzki of Lubbock, Texas, Greg Willhoit and Jeff Warner, both of Anchorage, Alaska, Scott Gatzki of Amarillo, Texas, and Kent Gatzki of Plano, Texas, and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson, Jarred McCurry, and great-granddaughter, Marie Willhoit.
Krien Funeral Home of Sulphur was in charge of the arrangements.

Betty Reynen
Services for Betty Reynen, 67, Davis, were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 17 at Hale's Memorial Chapel in Davis with Pastor James Tynes officiating. Interment was in Green Hill Cemetery with Hale's Funeral Home, Davis, in charge of arrangements.
Born December 29, 1937 in Minco to Bruce and Ruth (Chandler) Ingram, she died Thursday, Dec. 15 in Pauls Valley.
She married Gerald "Jerry" Reynen on April 17, 1988 in Davis. He preceded her in death on November 16, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Oleta Baugh and a brother, Manuel Ingram.
A member of the Assembly of God Church in Davis, she was a retired employee of the Southern Oklahoma Resource Center in Pauls Valley and most recently from the Wynnewood Refinery.
Surviving are a daughter, Pamela Craig and husband, Mike, Desoto, Texas; one son, David Cottrell, Davis; one grandson, Joseph Giddens and a great granddaughter, Sydnee Giddens, both of Desoto, Texas and two sisters, Velma Reading, Davis and Zelta Gilbert, Joy.
Pallbearers were Jerry Ingram, Ray Lee Ingram, Scott Baugh and Joseph Giddens.

William Edward "Ed' Branch, Jr.
Services for William Edward "Ed" Branch, Jr., 68, Sulphur, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 4 with Rev. Willard McCartney, Jr. officiating. Clagg Funeral Home will be in charge of the services.
Born December 8, 1937 in Sulphur to William Edward Branch and Lorene King Branch, he died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2006 in Sulphur.
Mr. Branch served in the U.S. Navy and was an upholsterer. He married Sandara Sue Crawley at Cortez, Colo. He was a member of the Midway Hill Baptist Church. He lived in Arizona where he attended school in Holbrook. He moved to Sulphur and then to Colorado for several years before returning back to Sulphur in 1996.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Sue, of the home; a daughter, Liz McClure, Sulphur; two sons, William Edward Branch III, Midway, Calif. and Douglas Branch, Rye, Colo.; three grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Ed was known in the Sulphur area and Colorado for his beautiful upholstery work. He continued to work his magic on furniture up until December, 2005 when he became ill. Although his health had deteriorated over the past year, he and his family were blessed with nine more years of wonderful memories after he received a heart transplant in November, 1996.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William (Bill) Branch and Lorene King Branch; two sisters, Lorena Branch Hickson and Orena Branch and one grandson, Matthew McClure.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be sent to the Oklahoma Organ Sharing Foundation, 5801 N. Bdwy, Suite 100, Oklahoma City, OK 73118 or the University of Oklahoma (Anatomical Board) Health Sciences Center, P. O. Box 26901, Oklahoma City, OK, 73190.

Robert Keith Howe
Services for Robert Keith Howe, 63, Sulphur, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 4 at the Sulphur United Methodist Church with Rev. Thom Balmer and Dr. Alvin Turner officiating. Interment will be in Oaklawn Cemetery with Clagg Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Known as "Bob" to some and "Butch" to others, he was born April 12, 1942 in Sulphur to James and Opal (Arms) Howe. He died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2006 in Sulphur.
He grew up in Sulphur and graduated from Sulphur High School and later Central State University in Edmond. He owned Sooner Discount Sporting Goods in Moore for several years. While in Moore, he served on the City Council. Since 1979 he had been a sales representative for Lawson Products and received numerous awards with the company, including the C.B. Lynn award for having over $6 million in sales.
He lived in Norman for several years, returning to Sulphur after his marriage to Elaine Gibbard on January 2, 1988. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He loved fishing and traveling and was happiest when doing both. He found a church home at the Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church and loved his church family. He was an avid OU fan.
Surviving are his wife, Elaine, of the home; a son, Barry L. Howe, Oklahoma City; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn and Johnny Lee, Hennepin; three grandsons, Robert and Garret Lee and Evan Howe; a brother, James Rae Howe, Sulphur and two sisters, Elizabeth Tucker, Davis and Charlene Gilliam, Ardmore.
Pallbearers were Allen "Butch" Hill, Keith McAlister, Major Clagg, David Pittman, Randy James and Dane Morris. Honorary bearers were friends at Unit Drilling and coworkers at Lawson Products.
