Phillip Dale Arms
Services for Phillip Dale Arms, 61, Sulphur, were held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 28 at the First Baptist Church in Sulphur with Rev. Eddie Malphrus officiating. Interment was in Oaklawn Cemetery with Krien Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Born in Oklahoma City on October 16, 1944 to J.A. and Ruth (Renneger) Arms, he died Monday, Dec. 26 in Sulphur.
Prior to moving to Sulphur when he was five, he lived in Bethany. He graduated from Sulphur High School in 1962 and later worked in steel construction, building bridges in the Dallas, Texas area for many years. In 1983, he began working seasonally for Chickasaw National Recreation Area and was a Sulphur fence builder.
He enjoyed hunting but fishing was his passion. He was a member of three bass clubs and he coached in the Sulphur Kids Association's baseball, basketball and football teams. He was a member of the Central Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Alvin Dale Arms, Sulphur and Daniel David "Boone" Arms and Dejay Baker and son, Weston, Sulphur; one daughter, Sherrie Sue Peterson, Shawnee; four grandchildren, Brandy, Jake, Ben and Bradley and one great grandchild, Lala.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers were Rick Thompson, Larry Palmer, Jeff Shirley, Bruce Gibson, Brace Murphy, and Alan Stover. Honorary bearers were Joe Peterson, Ardmore Cancer Center, Chickasaw National Recreation Area employees and the Arbuckle Bass Club.

Luther Herschel Hickman
Services for Luther Herschel Hickman, 91, Sulphur, were held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, Jan 3 with Rev. Robert Green officiating. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery with Clagg Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Born March 30, 1914 in Arkansas to Thomas Jefferson Hickman and Louella Davis Hickman, he died Friday, Dec. 30 in Sulphur.
He moved to this area as a child. He attended school in the Ardmore area and had lived in Sulphur since 1969. He had worked as a salesman for B. L. Owens Furniture.
He married Dorothy Strong Powell on June 10, 1962 in Gainesville, Texas. He was a member of the Abundant Life Church where he served as a deacon and board member.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy, of the home; three sons, Richard Lee Powell, Abilene, Texas, Donald R. Powell, Sulphur and Luke Hickman, Ardmore; one sister, Juanita Cason, Mead; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Billy Jack Hickman; eight brothers and two sisters.
Pallbearers were J. C. Grantham, Doug Stout, Gary Stout, Tommy Randall and the Carter County Skywarn Association.

Matthew D. Blue Christoffersen
Services for Matthew D. Blue Christoffersen, 27, Sulphur, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 4 at the First Baptist Church in Sulphur with Rev. Eddie Malphrus officiating. Clagg Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Born May 13, 1978 in Vallejo, Calif., to Wendell W. Norris and Amber Fifi Donahue Norris, he died Saturday, Dec. 24 in Ardmore.
He grew up in California and attended school in Clovis, Calif. He moved to Sulphur in 2000 and had worked as a chef.
Surviving are his wife, Christina Mendoza, Sulphur; a daughter, Caryl Bills, Sulphur; three sons, Michael Bills, Austin Mendoza and Matthew A. Christoffersen, all of Sulphur; his mother, Amber Raymos, California; an adoptive father, John Christoffersen, California; his grandmother, Doris Fairbanks, Kansas; an uncle, Chucky Norris, California and eight sisters.
He was preceded in death by his father.
His friends served as pallbearers.

Gene Lawrence
Gene Lawrence, 90, a retired machinist for Lockheed Martin, died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005, in Glen Rose, Texas.
Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at Wiley Funeral Home with interment at Squaw Creek Cemetery.
Mr. Lawrence was born April 6, 1915, in Gainesville, Texas to James and Zuma Light Lawrence. He married Nona Birdie Williams Feb. 22, 1938, in Sulphur. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Nell Timms.
Survivors: Wife, Nona Lawrence of Glen Rose; a son, Ron Lawrence, Deer Park, Texas; daughter, Pat Jackson of Glen Rose; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Anita Maria Ann Meely Plett
Services for Anita Maria Ann Meely Plett, 41, Okla. City, were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 24 at the First Baptist Church in Sulphur with Rev. Eddie Malphrus officiating. Interment was in Oaklawn Cemetery with Clagg Funeral Home, Sulphur, in charge of arrangements.
Born September 20, 1964 in Oklahoma City to Charley Meely and Virginia Williamson Meely, she died Thursday, April 20 in Oklahoma City. She married Robert Plett in Eureka Springs, Ark.
She lived in the Sulphur and Ardmore area most of her life. She attended Carter Seminary in Ardmore. She had lived the past nine years in Oklahoma City where she was a housewife.
She was preceded in death by her father, a son Russell Colungo, a daughter Nicholasa Antionette Colungo and three brothers.
Surviving are her husband, Robert Plett, of the home; one daughter Rustina Colungo, Sulphur; two stepdaughters, Angelina Plett, Okla. City and Ryan Sherron, Moore; two sons, Jonathan Colungo, Ada, and Victor Colungo, Okla. City; one stepson, Lance Brasier, Okla. City; her mother, Virginia Meely, Sulphur; three brothers, Jewell Meely, Okla. City and Charles Meely and David Byars, both of Sulphur; two sisters, Shirley Ramona Maclas, St. Louis, Mo., and Tawana Colungo, Sulphur; four grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Lance Brasier, Antone Colungo, Mark Colungo, Pete Colungo, Mike Colungo and Timothy Colungo.

Orvetta Long
Graveside services for Orvetta Long, 84, Sulphur, were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 22 at the Lebanon Cemetery in Lebanon with Pastor Willard McCartney, Jr. officiating. Krien Funeral Home, Sulphur, was in charge of the arrangements.
Born May 21, 1921 in Maysville to Arthur Raymond and Ocie Lee (Daniel) Miller, she died Wednesday, April 19 in Sulphur.
She grew up and attended school in Texas where she met and married Marion E. Long, who preceded her in death in April, 1995. They lived in El Paso, TX for thirty years. When her health started to decline she moved to Sulphur where she remained until her death.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Raymond Miller and Charles Troy Miller and one grandchild.
Surviving are one son, Raymond Ellsworth Long, Las Cruces, NM; one daughter, Mary Frances Collins of Sulphur; three brothers, Dudley Miller, Dallas, TX, Billy Miller, Chandler, TX. and Benny Miller of Norman; three sisters, Maxine Monk, Grandview, TX., Dora Alice Murphy, Littleton, CO., and Ocie Mae Green, Fort Worth, TX.; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.

Jaunita Hutchens
Services for Jaunita Hutchens, 84, Davis, were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 25 at the First Baptist Church in Davis with Rev. James Densman and Rev. Finis Steelman officiating. Interment was in Green Hill Cemetery with Krien Funeral Home, Davis, in charge of arrangements.
Born September 10, 1921 in Norman to R. A. and Claude (Moss) Williams, she died Saturday, April 22 in Midwest City. She married Mavis Hutchens and he preceded her in death on November 26, 1959.
She was a retired teacher and had been a resident of Davis for over 50 years. She graduated from Elmore City High School and attended Oklahoma State University and East central University where she received a Bachelor's of Science and Master's of Science degrees in education. She taught school one year in Dougherty before joining the staff at Davis Public Schools where she taught 29 years until her retirement in 1988. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Akomda Club.
In memory of Mrs. Hutchens the family is establishing a Mavis and Jaunita Hutchens Memorial Scholarship Fund for Davis High School graduating seniors. Donations may be made at the First National Bank of Davis.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
Surviving are one son, Dr. Jay Hutchens and wife Barbara, Prague; one daughter, Jan Morris and husband, Mitch, Oklahoma city; one sister, Esther Roady, Katie; 3 grandchildren, 2 nieces, numerous great nieces and nephews and many friends.
Pallbearers were Ricky Warren, Mike Warren, Randy Moore, Lester Dean Hawkins, Gerald Goodson and Pete Byrd.

Mary Kathryn Clark
Mary Kathryn Clark, 85, the mother of Darla Kay Stephens of Davis, died April 19, 2006. Cremation with burial will be in Texas. She was born Feb. 20, 1921, in Kentucky Town, Texas, to Cleophus and Florence (Davis) Chumbley. In 1940, she married Archie Edward Clark.
She is survived by her daughter; two sons, Steven Wayne and Richard Edward, both of Denton, Texas, and eight grandchildren. Krien Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Jim F. Murphy
Memorial services for Jim F. Murphy, 65, Coppell, TX, were held Sunday, April 23 in Texas with Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home of Lewisville, TX, in charge of arrangements.
Born December 5, 1940 in Ardmore to James Patrick and Hampton (Benn) Murphy, he died Friday, April 21. He married Phyllis Brooks on November 20, 1965 in Dallas.
He is survived his wife, Phyllis, of the home; two sons, Steve Murphy and his wife Lily of Farmers Branch, TX and Todd Murphy and his wife Sally and daughter Molly of Austin, TX.; two aunts, Myrtle Benn of Flower Mound, TX and Ruth Ray of Tulsa; and his mother-in-law, Esther Gross of Trinity, TX.

Eugene Burns
Funeral services for Eugene Burns, Davis were held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 8 at the United Methodist Church in Davis with Rev. D. Wayne Loftin officiating. Interment was in Green Hill Cemetery with Krien Funeral Home of Davis in charge of arrangements.
Born August 6, 1921 in Texhoma, Okla. (Texas County) to Harlan and Lena (Green) Burns, he entered into rest in Sulphur on June 5, 2006 at the age of 84 years, 9 months and 29 days.
Eugene was one of eight children. He attended school at Greenfield, Oklahoma, and then joined the U.S. Army after high school. He was a member of the Army's well know 10th Mountain Division. He and Ruby Wheeler were married on December 21, 1946, at the Olivet Baptist Church in Oklahoma City. He moved to Davis in 1951 to be a ranch foreman. Gene owned Burns Oil Company and was retired from the oil field.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby, of the home; one daughter, Linda Readnour and husband, Gary, Pauls Valley; three sisters, (twin) Imogene Johnson of Pinehurst, N.C., Winefred Jones, Skiatook and Norma Kruta, Yukon; one brother, Joe Burns, Bethany; four grandchildren, Chad Burns, Liberal, Kan., Kevin Eugene Readnour and wife, Lauren, Keith Readnour and wife, Nikki, all of Pauls Valley and Kyle Readnour and fiancee, Melanie Reser, Oklahoma City; six great grandchildren, Malia, Graham, Garrett and Kendall Readnour, all of Pauls Valley, Connor and Cennedee Burns, Liberal, Kan. and many loved and loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Randolph Eugene 'Randy' Burns, his parents, Harlan and Lena; two brothers, Warren and Dan Burns and one sister, Alice Dunlap.
Pallbearers were Kip Coburn, Chris Coburn, John Coburn, Paul Burns, Mark Burns and Mike Kruta.
