Frona Bell Waters
Private family services for Frona Bell Waters, 72, Sulphur, were held at 4:00 p.m., Friday, June 9 at Dolberg Cemetery with Bro. Wendell Owens officiating. Music was conducted by LaDonna Carter. Arrangements were under the direction of Krien Funeral Home, Sulphur.
Born in Sulphur on February 9, 1934 to George and Dovie Bell (Hannah) Wells, she died Wednesday, June 7.
A waitress, Frona enjoyed reading and her little dog, Sable.
Surviving are a son, Nathan McGaha; two daughters, Karen Brashears, Claremore and Reba Britt, Sulphur; two brothers, Paul Wells, Hickory and Pat Wells, New Mexico; five grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by twin sons; her parents and two brothers, Butch and Johnny Wells.

Helen Jean (Hays) Blevins
Helen Jean (Hays) Blevins died Friday, September 22, at Arbuckle Hospital after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and she will be greatly missed.
Helen was born October 5, 1921 in Forestburg, Alberta, Canada, the youngest of six children born to William Carrol Hays and Sarah Ann (Dinkins) Hays.
She was preceded by her sisters, Audrey (Hays) Freeman and Margret Lena (Hays) Hilker and her brothers, Max Carol Hays, Ralph Douglas Hays and Jackson Marion "Jack" Hays.
Helen is survived by her husband, Miles Blevins, of the home; a son, David and wife, Patricia of Ardmore, son, Larry, his wife, Kris, and their children, Kaitlin and Nathan Blevins of Kirtland, Ohio. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Jenny Hays of Forestburg, Alberta, Canada; Mamie Johnson of Lawton, Oklahoma; Marie Tanner of Madison, Wisconsin; Maxine and Curtis Yblood of Richardson, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and their extended families.
A graduate of Forestburg High School, Helen graduated Misericordia Catholic Hospital's registered nursing program in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada in 1944.
She married Miles Blevins in Borger, Texas, on October 3, 1950, celebrating 55 years of marriage. They made their home in Sulphur since 1952. She was a member of the Shepard of the Hills Presbyterian Church in Sulphur.
Helen worked as a registered nurse in the Lewis Clinic in Sulphur and as a nursing supervisor at Memorial Hospital of Southern Oklahoma in Ardmore. She then moved into nursing administration as Director of Nursing at Arbuckle Memorial Hospital in Sulphur and then as Director of Nursing at the Sulphur Veterans Center. Helen was a nurse aide training instructor the Southern Oklahoma Skill Center before concluding her career as a nurse consultant for Artesian, Elmbrooke and Woodview Nursing Homes until her retirement in 1986.
Helen was the first woman elected to the Sulphur Board of Education, serving from 1976 through 1981. She served as Board President in 1981.
She was active in Red Cross Blood Drives throughout her life and was a multiple gallon blood donor. During her career, Helen was an active member of the Oklahoma Nurse's Association, Business and Professional Women's (B&PW) Club and the Oklahoma Nursing Home Association.
Helen became a passionate golfer after taking up the game in her 50's, water skied until age 70, enjoyed bridge and canasta, was an avid reader and relished walks through the Park with her many friends.
She traveled extensively during her life, enjoying sights in many states, provinces of Canada, Great Britain and many countries in Europe.
A memorial service will be held at the Krien Funeral Home Saturday, Sept. 30, at 2:00 p.m. in Sulphur.

Margaret Clay Dunn
Services for Margaret Clay Dunn, 92, Sulphur, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 27 at the Sulphur United Methodist Church with Rev. David George officiating. Interment will be in Oaklawn Cemetery with Clagg Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Born September 20, 1914 in Okfuskee to Henry Grady Fuqua and Myrtle Hunter Fuqua, she died Sunday, Sept. 24 in Sulphur. She married Amos N. Dunn on August 2, 1933 in Guthrie. He preceded her in death on August 29, 1987.
She was a funeral director/housewife and a member of the Sulphur United Methodist Church. She was also a charter member of the Sewing Club and the Sulphur Book Club.
She moved to Altus and later to Grandfield where she graduated from high school and was the high school football queen. She attended OCW in Chickasha and OBU in Shawnee. She and her husband moved to Sulphur in 1933 where they owned and operated Dunn Funeral Home for many years until their retirement.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Patsy Ann and Lowell Malloy, Sulphur; a son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Mary Dunn, Munster, Ind.; a grandson and his wife, Mike and Letha Malloy, Byng; a granddaughter and her husband, Nicole and Ted Eull, Miami, Fla.; two great grandchildren, Jessica and Dyana Malloy, Byng; a sister and brother-in-law, Lila and George Gaines, Orange City, Fla. and a niece and nephew, Pebbles Gaines and Rocky Gaines.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Pallbearers were Eddie Paul Hunter, Ted Eull, Bill Chaffin, Dr. G. T. Easley, Rocky Gaines and Major Clagg.

Helen Adline Gurry
A private family service for Helen Adline Gurry, 84, Sulphur, will be held at a later date. Krien Funeral Home of Sulphur, will be in charge of arrangements.
Born October 22, 1921 in McCurtain County to Willie and Leona (Snider) Neiman, she died Sunday, Sept. 24 in Sulphur.
Helen operated day care centers in Oklahoma City and Phoenix, Ariz. for many years. She also worked for many years at the Mint Casino in Las Vegas, Nev. as a casino change attendant and considered Las Vegas her home. When her health began to fail, she moved to Oklahoma City and two years ago to Burford Manor in Davis to be near her daughter.
She had many stories about Las Vegas in the "early days" and about her pets.
Surviving are a son, Bobby Moore and wife, Linda, Twin Falls, Idaho; two daughters, Brenda Malone and husband, Nickie and Phyllis Wilson, all of Sulphur; one brother, Nathan Neiman and wife, Movaline, Oklahoma City; 16 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a son, Maurice Gabriel Neiman; her parents; three brothers, Edmond, Willie "Junior" and Pete Neiman; and two sisters, Ollie McIntyre and Oma Harris.

Peter Rozzell
Services for Peter Rozzell, 86, Sulphur, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 27 at the Krien Funeral Chapel in Sulphur with Rev. Marion Reimers officiating. Interment will be in Corley Cemetery in Stratford with Krien Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Born April 19, 1920 to Peter Frank and Pearl Vernon (Robertson) Rozzell in Graham, he died Sunday, Sept. 24 in Sulphur.
He farmed and ranched in the Sulphur area for over 31 years, coming here from the Noble and Lexington area. He was a former race horse owner and raced throughout the Midwest. He was a past member of the Appaloosa Horse Club, several regional Appaloosa Clubs, and numerous roundup clubs. He was also a member of the American Boer Goat Association and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Prairie View Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mae Dean, of the home; one son, Jerry Rozzell, Haslet, Texas; two grandchildren, Jamie Rozzell, Sulphur and Jerrod Rozzell and wife, Melissa, Weatherford; two step grandchildren, Eric and Dena Pebsworth, both of Orlando, Fla. and one great grandchild, MacKenzie Rozzell, Weatherford.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers and four sisters.
Pallbearers will be Harold Rozzell, Terry Rozzell, Donald Rozzell, Francis Rozzell, Jim Rozzell and Jerrod Rozzell.
Honorary bearers will be George Rozzell, Winston Hughes, Dan Dubose and Dale Billings.

Mildred Francis Aaron
Services for Mildred Francis Aaron, 82, Davis, were held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, Sept. 27 at Krien Chapel in Davis with Rev. James Densman officiating. Interment was in Green Hill Cemetery with Krien Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Born July 2, 1922 in Davis to Douglas Virgil and Ollie Gertrude (Broom) Brashears, she died Tuesday, Sept. 19.
Mildred grew up and attended school in Davis. She and Willie "Jack" Aaron were married in Sulphur in 1942 and then moved to Shamrock, Texas, where they farmed and ranched together. They later returned to Oklahoma, making their home in Stratford. Jack preceded her in death in 1989.
About nine years ago, she returned to her home town of Davis where she remained until her death.
Surviving are a sister, Jewel Aaron, Davis; three brothers, James Brashears, Amarillo, Texas, William "Bill' Brashears, Lawton and Kenneth Brashears, Orange, Texas; two grandchildren and one great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Donald Wesley Aaron on August 12, 2000; three brothers; three sisters and her parents.
Nephews served as pallbearers.

Randy J. Caldwell
Graveside services for Randy J. Caldwell, 28, Sulphur, were held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 26 at Oaklawn Cemetery with Rev. Bill Leveridge officiating. Clagg Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Born September 9, 1978 in Sulphur, he died Sunday, Sept. 24 in Oklahoma City.
He had lived in this area all his life, attending school here and worked as a laborer.
Survivors include his parents, Tim and Marva Jaylene Watson, Davis. Other survivors are Shelly Conner, Jayde Caldwell, Alissa Caldwell, Patienz Caldwell, Dillon Conner, Rider Caldwell, Randy Jay Caldwell, Jr., Dorothy Watson, Jessy Watson, Rachel Watson, Becky Billings, Cindy Billings and Gary Billings.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Marvin and Shirley Caldwell and Kenneth Watson.

Ross "Jimmy" Smith, Jr.
Services for Ross "Jimmy" Smith, Jr., 88, a lifelong Davis area resident, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 29 at the First United Methodist Church in Davis with Rev. Wayne Loftin officiating. Interment will be in Green Hill Cemetery with Krien Funeral Home of Davis in charge of arrangements.
Born on the family home place, west of Davis, on March 3, 1918 to Ross and Rhoda (Butterly) Smith, he went to join his Lord and Savior on Sunday, Nov. 26.
He had three great loves in his life that he shared for 67 years with his loving wife, Mary. His family, his church and his appreciation for the land served as focus of his care and commitment. Except for a few years spent working at Douglas Aircraft during World War II, Ross experienced a full and rewarding career as an accomplished farmer and rancher, raising Black Angus cattle both on the farm and while managing the Crossbar Ranch. In 1997, Ross and Mary retired from farming and moved into the town of Davis.
From childhood, Ross was a committed member of the Davis Methodist Church, serving in roles of leadership and many capacities to assure the church's growth and prosperity. He served for three terms as a chair of the Official Board as well as numerous committees within the church. His leadership extended to the greater community as he served as an active member of the Murray County Farm Bureau, the Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association, the Murray County Soil Conservation District, Woodland School Board, and served for many years on the Board of Directors of the First National Bank of Davis.
Ross was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Herman and Howard Smith as well as an infant daughter, Janice Jo and son, James Everett Smith.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Mary; daughter, Sue (James) Petrie, St. Paul, Minn.; grandsons, Chris (Jeannette) Smith, Edmond, Dr. Mark (Traci) Smith, Springfield, Mo, Jay (Michelle) Guinn, Conroe, Texas, Toby Scott Guinn, New York City, N.Y. and granddaughter, Jami (Bill) Moseley, Fort Collins, Colo. Six great grandchildren, Parker and Aubrey Smith, Edmond, William and Katie Moseley, Fort Collins, Colo. and Mason and Morgan Guinn, Conroe, Texas also survive.
He is also survived by a sister, Louise Cunningham, Pauls Valley; nephews, Dr. Glenn (Camille) Cunningham, Houston, Texas, Phil Cunningham, Guerneville, Calif., Kenneth (Carol) Smith, Paoli and nieces, Elsie Williams and Brenda (Miles) Kehrer, both of Davis. Ross is held in loving remembrance by his son's widow, Alberta Smith (John) Williams and their family.
Pallbearers will be Chris Smith, Dr. Mark Smith, Jay Guinn, Bill Moseley, Phil Cunningham and Miles Kehrer. Honorary bearers will be D. O. Salter, Skip Healey, Bob Johnson, Dr. Don Oxford, Pete Jones, Gordon Pullen and Ed Chivers.

J. E. Cleveland
A decorated Sulphur veteran who endured the Bataan Death March in the Phillipines during World War II has died.
J. E. Cleveland, 90, died Friday, Nov. 24. His service was held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, Nov. 27 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Sulphur with Rev. Bill Leveridge and Rev. Craig Abla officiating. Interment was in Oaklawn Cemetery with Krien Funeral Home of Sulphur in charge of arrangements.
He was born June 6, 1916 in Sulphur to James "Elmer" and Edna Angie (Runyan) Cleveland.
He grew up in Sulphur and, after serving in the Oklahoma Army National Guard for 10 months, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps on on June 21, 1941. Shortly after the start of World War II, he was captured by Japanese forces during the Battle of Bataan in the Phillipines. He survived 42 months in Japanese prison camps and was later recognized as an American Hero. He was awarded three Bronze Stars, a Purple Heart and the Prisoner of War Medal.
After five years of service in the military, he returned to Sulphur where he graduted from Sulphur High School. He attended East Central College in Ada. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. He loved his grandchildren, gardening and his cattle.
Surviving are a son, Dwight Cleveland and his wife, Beverly, Sulphur; three daughters, Mary Katherine Bolton and husband, Jack, Coleman, Texas, Marilynn Cleveland, Sulphur and Marla Cleveland-Winnard, Ardmore; two brothers, Eldon Cleveland and wife, Bernice, Sulphur and Raymond Cleveland and wife, Ginger, Meeker; one sister, Oleta Brooks, Sulphur; eight grandchildren Lisa Smith, Colemand, Texas, Micah Noland, Alison Noland-Arms, and Bronson Noland, all of Davis, Kristie Snow, Tulsa, Kari Cleveland and Erik Cleveland, both of Sulphur and Tyler Winnard, Ardmore and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Letha (Howard) Cleveland; one son, James O'Brien Cleveland; his parents; one brother, Merton Cleveland; two sisters, Naomi Wineland and Odessa Lannom.
A Chickasaw Honor Guard served as pallbearers.
