Ora Mae Smith

Longtime Seminole resident Ora Mae Smith died Wednesday at a Seminole hospital. She was 91.

She was born in Tecumseh on Sept. 13, 1906, the daughter of William Isaac Cluck and Della (Butler) Cluck. She married Don Smith in Oklahoma City on May 9, 1931, and he preceded her in death in 1985.

She was a secretary and co-owner of Smith Real Estate. She had moved from Shawnee to Seminole 72 years ago and was a member of First Baptist Church, Order of the Eastern Star, chamber of commerce and Women's Missionary Union.

Also preceding her in death were her parents.

Surviving are two sons, Don A. Smith, Fort Smith, Ark.; David B. Smith, Seminole; four grandchildren, Cameron Smith, Diana Deck, Stephen Smith and Darren Smith, and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel, Seminole, with the Rev. Dr. Kelvin Moseley officiating. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and the casket will not be open for the service. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery.

Lena M. Chastain

Lena M. Chastain of Shawnee died Wednesday at the age of 83.

She was born in the Franklin community east of Norman on July 26, 1914, the daughter of S.J. "Jeff" and Polly (Keller) Hayes.

She married Samuel S. Chastain July 29, 1932, in Oklahoma City, where she resided until 1986. She was a member of First Assembly of God in Midwest City where she served as assistant secretary and treasurer for many years.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gerald L. "Jerry" and Betty Chastain, Shawnee; grandchildren, Michelle Chastain, Debra Herrin, both of Oklahoma City; Krista Cosby, Moore; Melita Durham, Shawnee; Karen Brasfield, Seattle, Wash.; Mike Durham, Steve Durham, both of Shawnee, and 12 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, and one great-grandson, Steven J. Durham.

Services will be 3 p.m. today at Capitol Hill Funeral Home Chapel, Oklahoma City, with burial at Resthaven Memory Garden, Oklahoma City.

Michael Wayne Reed

Shawnee resident Michael Wayne Reed died Thursday in a local hospital. He was 15.

He was born Jan. 14, 1983, in Champaign, Ill., the son of Gene and Karen Reed. He attended Shawnee High School where he had completed his freshman year. He was an active member of the local chapter of the Civil Air Patrol.

He is survived by his parents, Gene and Karen Reed, Shawnee; two sisters, Lori Fletcher, Shawnee; Marcy Smith, California; one brother, Matt Reed, California; grandmother, Rita Reed, Shawnee; grandfather, Albert Leger, Madill; nieces, Sasha and Olivia Smith, California; nephews, Zackery, Lucas and Joseph Fletcher, Shawnee; Clayton and Christopher Smith, California, and many other relatives.

His grandfather, George Reed, and grandmother, Jessie Leger, preceded him in death.

Services will be 9 a.m. Saturday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dale Smith officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. at Beaver, Okla., Cemetery.

Fred Russell Lynch

Fred Russell Lynch died Thursday in Shawnee at the age of 89.

He was born June 7, 1909, in Byars, the youngest of eight children of John Joseph and Martha Elizabeth (Cole) Lynch. He graduated from Meridian High School and attended Oklahoma A&M College.

He married Margaret Howell in Perry on Oct. 28, 1932. They lived in Duncan and he worked for Magnolia Oil Co., then spent 12 years with Halliburton Oil Well Cementing Co.

They moved to Seminole where they established M&K Oil Well Cementing, a company they operated for 30 years. They were financial supporters of Seminole State College and Oklahoma City University.

Lynch was a member of Seminole First United Methodist Church, board of directors of First Federal Savings and Loan of Seminole and was a 32nd degree Mason.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret, and many other relatives.

Services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel, Seminole, with the Rev. David Karges officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Seminole First United Methodist Church building fund.

Harold Travis Hubbard

The Rev. Dr. Harold Travis Hubbard of Shawnee died Wednesday in a local hospital at the age of 86.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at Northwest Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Ed Fox and the Rev. Dr. Hoyt Chastain officiating. Burial will be at Acacia Memorial Cemetery, Modesto, Calif. Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

He was born Aug. 16, 1911, in Ben Loman, Ark., the son of Marshall Boyd and Sally (White) Hubbard. He married Emily Irwin in 1946 in Arkansas and she preceded him in death in 1948.

He received a doctorate from Little Rock Missionary Baptist Institute and Seminary and taught there until 1949. He then taught in Missionary Baptist Seminaries in California, including California and Fresno seminaries, and pastored churches in Arkansas and California until retirement.

He had lived in Shawnee since June 1995 and was a member of Northwest Missionary Baptist Church in Shawnee.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Tom Campbell, Shawnee; one brother, Homer Hubbard, Yakima, Wash.; special friends, Dr. and Mrs. Hoyt Chastain, Marlow, and many others.

Memorials may be made to Northwest Missionary Baptist Church or Rock Creek Baptist Church.

Clara Faye Booth-Glenn

Clara Faye Booth-Glenn of Crescent died Wednesday in Oklahoma City at the age of 67.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Immanuel Covenant Church, Crescent, with the Rev. Chris Humphries officiating. Burial will be in Crecent City Cemetery under the direction of Abernathy Funeral Home of Crescent.

She was born April 7, 1931, in Crescent to Carl Bozo and Allielee (Nall) Marrs. She was a waitress.

Surviving are her husband, Jim Glenn, of the home; five children, Jim Booth, Enid; Jerry Carl Booth, Elk City; Billie Bob Booth, Deborah Faye Booth, both of Crescent; Shawn Booth, Tulsa; two stepdaughters, Donna Glenn, Oklahoma City; Debbie Glenn, Baton Rouge, La.; five sisters, Edna Mae Tontz, Evan Bench, both of Crescent; Alice Kordis, Miami; Vera Gurley, Fort Worth, Texas; Mary F. Brock, Ponca City; three brothers, Earl Marrs, Clarksville, Texas; Dale Marrs, Crescent, and Wayne Dean, Euless, Texas.

Preceding her in death were her first husband, John Booth; one brother, one sister, and one stepson, Randy Glenn.

Bernard M. Fuentez

Oklahoma City resident Bernard M. Fuentez died Wednesday at his home. He was 49.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. James Catholic Church in Oklahoma City. Burial will be at Smith Cemetery in Moore under the direction of the John M. Ireland Funeral Home and Chapel in Moore.

Fuentez was born Sept. 5, 1948, in Little Field, Texas, to B.C. and Berta Fuentez. He was reared at Mountain View, Okla., and attended St. James Catholic Church in Oklahoma City.

He had worked at General Motors Corporation since 1978.

Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Catherine; five children, Patricia Coggins of Moore, Jennifer Terrell, Michelle Fuentez, Bernard Michael Fuentez, all of Oklahoma City, Terra Jane Sanders of Tecumseh; his father, B.C. Fuentez of Mountain View; two sisters, Bertha Chocquette of Lawton, Beatrice Gomez of San Antonio, Texas; a brother, Barry Fuentez of Winter Springs, Fla.; three grandchildren and several other relatives.

Milton Hubbard

Shawnee resident Milton Hubbard died Thursday at a local hospital. He was 93.

Hubbard was born Jan. 27, 1906, in Sedalia, Mo. to John Milton and Ella Mae (Robertson) Hubbard. He married Verna Stewart on March 23, 1928, in Tecumseh.

Hubbard moved to Shawnee in 1908. He was a retired machinist and worked for Lillard Pipe and Supply Co. for 40 years.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Lonnie Kennedy, Shawnee; three sons and daughters-in-law, Wilburn and Laverne Hubbard, Meeker, Bill and Lois Hubbard and Clifford and Louise Hubbard, all of Shawnee; daughter-in-law, Joy Hubbard, Shawnee; brother, James Hubbard, Bethany; four sisters, Effie Crabtree, Midland, Texas, Lottie Angone, California, Opal Glover, Grandview, Texas, and Lillie Mae Sneed, Oklahoma City; 21 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his wife; three sons, Leroy, Johnnie and Eldon Hubbard; three grandsons; two great-grandsons; brother, Oppie Hubbard; and two sisters, Rosie Skinner and Dessie James.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ron Baldridge officiating. Burial will be in Little Cemetery.

Verda J. Casey

Shawnee resident Verda J. Casey died Saturday at a local nursing home at the age of 81.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel.
