Bonnie Lea Clure

Shawnee resident Bonnie Lea Clure died Thursday at a local hospital. She was 58.

Mrs. Clure was born March 28, 1941, in Salina, Kan. to Benjamin Franklin and Deilia Carrolyn (Reinert) Propp. She married Jim Clure on June 2, 1990, in Gainesville, Texas.

She graduated from Hutchinson High School and Emporia State College. She received a degree in education and a bachelor's degree in nursing from Saint Mary's at the Plains. She was a nurse in labor and delivery and public health for many years. She also taught practical nursing at Southern Oklahoma Technical School at Ardmore.

She was active in the Lutheran Church Women's Group and the American Nursing Association.

Survivors include her husband, Jim Clure, of the home; son, Scott Foster, Littleton, Colo.; daughter, Kim Bradshaw, Plano, Texas; step sons, Jay Clure, Gainesville, Texas, Andrew Clure, Oklahoma City, and Joel Clure, Denton, Texas; sister, Arlene Adams, Shawnee; two grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Benjamin P. Propp.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Redeemer Lutheran Church with the Rev. John Wackler and the Rev. Gary Brandt officiating. Burial will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Marvin King

Longtime Shawnee resident Marvin "Jack" King died Tuesday at his home. He was 79.

King was born Feb. 8, 1920, in Colgate to Marvin Lane King and Martha Fern (Hall) King. He attended Bristow and Shawnee schools.

He served in the Army Air Corps from May 1941 to December 1944 during World War II. He was a self employed electrician and had owned and operated Kings Electric. He was a member of the American Legion No. 16 and a life member of the V.F.W. No. 1317. He was of the Protestant faith.

Survivors include his brothers, Robert E. King, Glenpool; Ted King, Shawnee; sister, Florence Armstrong, Shawnee; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Don and Jay King.

Services will be 4 p.m. Friday at Resthaven Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Leroy Kerbo officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Jonnie L. Baker

Lifelong Stroud resident Jonnie L. Baker died Tuesday in Stroud. She was 83.

Mrs. Baker was born Sept. 18, 1917, in Stroud to James H. and Harriett (Marshall) Cox. She married James C. Baker on June 13, 1941, in Depew.

She graduated from Stroud High School in 1934 and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Stroud. She was a past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star and received her 50-year pin in Stroud.

Survivors include her husband, James, of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Frankie and Judith Hampton, Oklahoma City; three grandchildren, Brian, Michelle and Melinda, all of Oklahoma City; three great-grandchildren, Kaycee, Talon and Alexandria, all of Oklahoma City; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and four sisters.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church of Stroud with the Rev. Kathy Leithner officiating. Burial will be in the Stroud Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Stroud.

Lois Evelyn James

Lois Evelyn James died Friday in Rancho Cucamonda, Calif. She was 76.

Mrs. James was born July 7, 1922, in Sparks to Roy B. and Julia (O'Brien) Decker Sr. She married Kenneth K. James on Jan. 24, 1942, in California.

She had lived in Wildomar, Calif., for 37 years and was a homemaker and member of the Assembly of God. She was a speaker for Women's Aglow and held various positions in that organization. She was affiliated with the Republican Party and a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Sparks.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth K. James of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Roxie James, Cerritos, Calif.; two daughters and son-in-law, Rosalyn and Jimmie Clinkenbeard, Meeker, and Sharron Maurice, Blythe, Calif.; brother, Roy B. Decker Jr., Shawnee; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday at White Dove Cemetery, Sparks, under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Prague, with Pastor Scott Roberts and Rev. Kathleene Briggs officiating.

Viewing and visitations will be at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel in Meeker until 9:30 a.m. Friday.

Evah Mae Ross

Evah Mae Ross of Harrah died Wednesay. She was 83.

She was born Nov. 22, 1915, in Harrah to John T. and Theadoshie Moore. She was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church of Harrah. She married Claude W. Ross in September 1933. He preceded her in death in April 1982.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Claude Moore, who died while an infant.

She is survived by one son, Richard Lee Ross and daughter-in-law, Martha; one daughter, Leah Rae and son-in-law, Doyle Thompson of Harrah; seven grandchildren, Michael, Marcia, Rocky, Danny, Tammy, Larry and Jerry; and nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Aleta Hardaker of Jones, and Wanda Hayes Jones of Fayetteville, Ark.; two sisters-in-law, Willa Lee Harrison of Harrah; and Virginia Sherrill of Del City; several nieces and nephews; very special friends, Mildred Stieber and Evelyn Lovell.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.

Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Asa Smith Funeral Chapel in Harrah. Burial is at Memory Lane Cemetery in Harrah.

Lee Oxley Guinn

Lee Oxley Guinn of Shawnee died Tuesday in a local nursing home. She was 92.

She was born Aug. 22, 1906, in Tarter, Okla., to Howard and Purley Oxley and attended school in Tarter. She was a graduate of the first class of licensed practical nurses at the old City Hospital.

She married Earl J. Guinn on Sept. 17, 1922, in Konawa, Oklahoma and moved to Shawnee in 1929.

She was a member of the North East Free Will Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her husband on Dec. 22, 1986; two daughters and sons-in-law, Vesta and Lewis Sparks; Earlene Perry and George Haas; four brothers and two sisters.

Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Beulah and Robert Kinnamon of Shawnee; Beatrice Haas of Konawa; Wanda and Houston Sangster of Earlsboro; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Jessie and Francis Oxley of Millcreek, Okla.; one sister, Essie Johnson of Dunnigan, Calif.

Friends may meet with the family from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday at University Baptist Church, 2515 N. Kickapoo.

Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Waldo Young and Rev. Delbert Akin. Burial is at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Reba L. Hilton

Reba L. Hilton of Lubbock, Texas died Monday at University Medical Center. She was 87.

She was born in Healdton and was married to Roy L. Hilton on May 2, 1931, in Maud. He preceded her in death on Dec. 15, 1993.

Mrs. Hilton had been a resident of Lubbock, Texas, since 1989 moving there from Shawnee. She lived in Lubbock from 1950 until 1979.

She was a retired salesperson and bookkeeper at Hilton Supply Company.

Surviving are a son, Arlen L. Hilton of Lubbock; one brother, Haskell Lewis of Mount Vernon, Mo.; one granddaughter, Kay McClure; one grandson, Brand Hilton; three great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Graveside services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Resthaven Memorial Park with the Rev. Bill Matthews, pastor of Shawnee's Liberty Baptist Church, officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Franklin-Bartley Funeral Home in Lubbock. Viewing will be at Franklin-Bartley until 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The family has requested that memorial be made to Scottish Rite Children's Hospital, 2222 Welborn, Dallas, Texas, 75219.

Samuel Albert Anders

Samuel Albert Anders of Konawa died Tuesday. He was 84.

He was born Dec. 31, 1914, in Vamoosa, Okla., to Margaret Virginia and Lafayette Anders. He was married to Madge Anders at Ada on Sept. 15, 1947. He was an oilfield worker and lived in the Konawa area all his life. He was also a member of the Church of Christ of Sasakwa.

Surviving are his wife, Madge of the home; three daughters, Emily Loden of California; Marina Sue White of Shawnee; Carman Jane Green of Vamoosa; a son, Ulyesses Sammy Anders of the home; one brother, Warren Anders of Chickasha; 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren.

Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Pickard Chapel, officiated by Virgil Romine. Burial will follow in Vamoosa Cemetery.
