Jada Nicole Wheeler

Jada Nicole Wheeler died Saturday at an Oklahoma City hospital. She was 2 months old.

Jada was born Feb. 17, 1999, in Oklahoma City to Brian N. Onzahwah and Johnna L. Wheeler.

Survivors include her parents of Harrah; grandparents, Carrie and Gary Howell, Harrah, Debbie Onzahwah and Bo Byers, Tecumseh, and Fred Wheeler, Oklahoma City; great-grandparents, Ethel Howell, Dewey, Beatrice Cuppawhe, Shawnee, and Ed and Ida Byers, Harrah; two uncles, Joe Don Howell, Harrah, and Dallas Byers, Tecumseh; two aunts, Reanna Byers, Tecumseh, and Shonna Byers, Colcord, N.C.; and many other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her aunt, Alexa Sierra Byers; great-grandparents, Joan and Don Long, Alice and Roy Wheeler and Laverne Onzahwah; and a cousin, Rachel Joan Baca.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at First Indian Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Hawkins and Rev. James Puckett officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

William A. Tiger

Longtime Shawnee resident William A. "Sonny" Tiger died Sunday at his home. He was 70.

Tiger was born July 6, 1928, in Holdenville to Ewnah Jacob and Lillian (Foster) Tiger. He married Wanda Sue Wood on Aug. 17, 1958, in Oklahoma City.

He graduated with an associate of arts degree from Bismarck Junior College in Bismarck, N.D. He served two years active duty with the U.S. Marines in 1946 and 1947. He was a retired minister and was a member of Kickapoo Baptist Church.

Survivors include his sons, Charles E. Tiger, Hollywood, Fla., and Boyd Tiger, George Tiger and William "Jacob" Tiger, all of Shawnee; sons and daughters-in-law, Tony and Brenda Tiger and Mark and Francis Tiger, all of Shawnee; daughters, Leona Tiger and Channa Tiger, both of Shawnee, Robin Tiger, Selfridge, N.D.; daughter and son-in-law, Jimmie and Mikel Dover, of Shawnee; sister, Katie Louise Harjo, Konawa; sister and brother-in-law, Katie Lou and H.D. Wood, Shawnee; 20 grandchildren and many other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda S. Tiger; his father, Ewnah J. Tiger, and his mother, Lillian Foster.

Wake services were held 7 p.m. Monday at Sallateeska Baptist Church. Services will be 2 p.m. today at Sallateeska Baptist Church with the Rev. Pete Mayse officiating. Burial will be in Johnson Cemetery under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

William C. Johnson

William Curtis "Bill" Johnson died Sunday in Chandler. He was 85.

Johnson was born March 4, 1914, in Sardis, Miss., to James Walter and Tennessee Missouri (Rickard) Johnson.

He worked in trucking operations around the Meeker area and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Meeker.

Survivors include three sons, Don Johnson, Choctaw, Billy Johnson, Wanette, and Steve Johnson, Stillwater; daughters, Grace Allen, Tecumseh, May Locke, Broken Arrow, Mary Liggitt, Tulsa, Sheri Patterson, Meeker, Wilma Johnson, Moore, and Lori Acord, Edmond; three brothers, Dave Johnson, Maud, Calvin Johnson, Oxford, Miss., and Marshall Johnson, California; two sisters, Louise Coller, Kingfisher, and Fredia Kirz, Oklahoma City; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, two brothers, two sisters and two wives, Mary and Luella.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at White Dove Cemetery, Sparks, under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Chandler, with the Rev. John Orr officiating. Johnson may be viewed at Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel, Meeker.

Bill G. Griffin

Bill G. Griffin died Saturday. He was 73.

He was born Dec. 6, 1925 in Okarche, to James and Pearl Griffin.

He was a retired truck driver for LeeWay Motor Freight, a World War II veteran, a member of First Baptist Church of Bethany and a backer of Putnam City High Schools.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother and three brothers.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Gladys; sons and daughters-in-law, Gene and Darla Griffin, Roger and Cindie Griffin, and Jerry and Debbie Griffin; 14 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Leroy and Joyce Griffin of Tecumseh and Melvin and Mary Griffin of Meeker; a sister-in-law, Phenon Griffin of Meeker and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Bethany First Baptist Church with burial in Frisco Cemetery in Yukon.

Arrangements are under the direction of Gene Adams Funeral Service.

Claudia Marie Nurse

Claudia M. Nurse, a longtime resident of Seminole County, died Saturday in Oklahoma City. She was 87.

She was born Sept. 10, 1911, at Alma, Okla., to Elbert C. and Addie Pearl Daugherty Smart. On July 10, 1927, she married Melvin F. Nurse in the panhandle of Texas, and two daughters were born of their marriage.

In 1942 the family moved to Wewoka. The couple had various businesses in Wewoka, Duncan and Lawton until Mr. Nurse's death in 1980.

Mrs. Nurse was employed by Modern Oil Co. and retired at the age of 80 in 1992. Following her retirement, she was well-known in the Seminole community for her appraisals and sales of antiques.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her father, mother, baby brother and one great-granddaughter.

Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Dolores and Harold Theus of Yukon and Doris and Jack Smith of Eufaula; sisters, Mrs. Odes (Winnie) Williams of Seminole and Mrs. Bill (Wanda Smart) Holder of Jonesboro, La.; grandsons Clipper Drumm of Oklahoma City, Chris Crenshaw of Calvin, Okla., Craig Crenshaw of Choctaw and Clay Crenshaw of Perkins; granddaughter Mrs. Jim (Terry) Drew of Little Rock, Ark.; 15 great-grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was active member of her church and the family suggest that gifts in her memory may be made to the Seminole Full Gospel Church Building Fund, c/o Brother Bill Burns, Route 2, Konawa, Okla.

Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Bill Burns of the Full Gospel Church officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Wewoka under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Floyd L. Lokey

Lifelong Lincoln County resident Floyd L. Lokey died Sunday. He was 88.

Mr. Lokey was born April 13, 1911, in Sparks to John Franklin and Flossie F. (Bunger) Lokey. He was a farmer and also worked at Tinker Air Force Base and in the oilfield.

He married Minnie S. Reed on Sept. 21, 1929, in Sparks. She preceded him in death on June 19, 1992. Their daughter, Lillis Gravitt, died in 1985. He also was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Frank Lokey, and a sister, Jewel Berg.

Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Willis and Joy Lokey of Prague; one daughter and son-in-law, Olena and Frank Walker of Prague; brother, Aaron Lokey, Atascadero, Calif.; three sisters, Betty Lou DeVore, Concord, Calif., Mary Margaret Meyers, Forrest Grove, Calif., and Myrtle Reed of Shawnee; grandchildren and their spouses, J. R. Gleason of Newalla, David and Terry Gleason of Choctaw, Tommy Gleason of Sneed, Fla., Randall and Sherri Lokey of Yukon, Ronnie and Susan Lokey of Stillwater, Doug and Debbie Lokey of Prague; Danny and Linda Gravitt of Little Rock, Ark., and Susan Gravitt of Little Rock, Ark.; 17 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Prague with the Rev. Randall Miller officiating. Burial will follow in White Dove Cemetery in Sparks under the direction of Parks Brothers of Prague.

Albert Lee Bond

Albert Lee Bond died Sunday in Stroud. He was 82.

He was born Dec. 21, 1916 in Depew, to James Samual and Lola Julia (Matheson) Bond. He was a resident of Stroud since 1945, moving from California. He was retired from Allied Materials in 1978 and was a member of the Church of Christ in Stroud.

Albert and Edith Mary Walls were married on Aug. 12, 1937, in Bristow, Okla.

Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother and one sister.

Surviving are is wife, Edith M. Bond of the home; sons, James Marvin Bond of Oklahoma City and Carl Albert Bond of Canton, Ga.; six daughters, Maxine Kalka of Chandler, Correne Jackson of Stroud, Linda Carlone of Cassel Berry, Fla., Sharron Davidson of Yukon, Carrol Phillips of Cayucos, Calif., and Kathy Salyer of Stroud; four brothers, Lawrence Bond of Stroud, Evertt Bond of Martinez, Calif., Virgil Bond of Oklahoma City and Earl Bond of Stroud; two sisters, Oleta Housh of Oklahoma City and Julia Ford of Yale; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Church of Christ in Stroud with Luther Whitfield officiating. Burial will be in Stroud Cemetery under the direction of Park Brothers Funeral Home of Stroud.

Lois Evelyn James

Lois Evelyn James died Friday in Rancho Cucamonda, Calif. She was 76.

Mrs. James was born July 7, 1922, in Sparks to Roy B. and Julia (O'Brien) Decker Sr. She married Kenneth K. James on Jan. 24, 1942, in California.

She had lived in Wildomar, Calif., for 37 years and was a homemaker and member of the Assembly of God.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth K. James of the home; son, Roger James, Cerritos, Calif.; two daughters, Rosalyn Clinkenbeard, Meeker, and Sharron Maurice, Vlythe, Calif.; brother, Roy B. Decker Jr., Shawnee; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday at White Dove Cemetery, Sparks, under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Prague, with Pastor Scott Roberts officiating.

James P. Miller

James P. Miller of Indialantic, Fla., died Monday at a Melbourne, Fla., hospital. He was 68.

Miller was born April 1, 1931, in Shawnee to Raymond Earl Miller and Olive Kathryn Neddeau. He moved to central Florida in 1968 from Lancaster, N.Y. He was a music and art teacher at University Park Elementary School for 19 years. In recent years he taught art at the Satellite Beach Recreation Department.

He served in the U.S. Army in Korea and was a professional violinist in Brevard County, Fla. He was a member of the Potawatomi Indian Tribe of Oklahoma.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley A. Miller, Indialantic, Fla.; son, David J. Miller, Melbourne, Fla.; brothers, Gilbert E. Miller, Hobe Sound, Fla., and G. David Miller, California.
