Juanita M. Lockard

Tecumseh resident Juanita M. Lockard died Thursday in Shawnee. She was 73.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with D.W. "Red" Barnes officiating. Burial will be at Wanette Cemetery.

Mrs. Lockard was born Feb. 2, 1925, in Pearson to Loyd Ira and Willie Maye (Davis) Spaugy. She married Floyd Lockard on April 5, 1947, in Shawnee.

She graduated from Asher High School in 1943. She was a member of the Avoca Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, Floyd Lockard, of the home; sons, Doyle Lockard, Florida; Darrell Lockard, Tecumseh; Roger Lockard, Justin, Texas; brother, Loyd Spaugy, Bethany; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Kevin Lockard.

Raymond Adam Landrum

Seminole resident Raymond Adam Landrum died Wednesday in Seminole. He was 80.

Landrum was born Oct. 13, 1917, in Hobart to William Landrum and Rosetta Landrum. He was a farmer and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his sons, Charles Landrum, Weleetka; Gene Landrum, Coos Bay, Ore.; daughter, Shirley Landrum, Sacramento, Calif.; stepdaughter, Carol Campbell, Shawnee; brothers, R.C. Landrum, Shawnee; Robert Landrum, Asher; sister, Julie Landrum, Oklahoma City; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

No services are scheduled.

Charley Lowery

Charley Lowery died Thursday in Prague at the age of 99.

He was born Jan. 1, 1899, in Ripley County, Mo., the son of John and Jennie (Molsbee) Lowery. He had lived in Prague most of his life and married Marie Antonie Gojis on Aug. 14, 1930, in Prague. He retired from Exxon Oil Co. after 28 years as a pumper and mechanic.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and one son, Gene Lowery.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Marie Lowery, of the home; son, George C. Lowery, Tulsa; brother, Lucky Lowery, Fort Meyers, Fla., eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Prague Cemetery with George C. Lowery officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Prague.

Clarence Edward Rodebush

Former Prague resident Clarence Edward Rodebush of Shawnee died Wednesday at the age of 85.

He was born Jan. 25, 1913, in Lincoln County to Ervin Franklin and Nellie Cordelia (Chronister) Rodebush. He married Eva Hildred Little in Paden on Nov. 7, 1933.

He was a retired auto and aircraft mechanic for Rockwell International and Boeing Aircraft. He was a member of Freewill Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents, five sisters and two brothers.

Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Eva Hildred (Little) Rodebush, of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Harrell and Carol Rodebush, Oklahoma City; daughter, Maxine Voit, Shawnee; three grandchildren, Belinda Voit, Philip Rodebush, Paul and Shelly Rodebush, and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Parks Funeral Home Chapel in Prague with the Rev. Harrell Rodebush and the Rev. Philip Rodebush officiating. Burial will be at Prague Cemetery.

Kathryn Fay Fox

Former Shawnee resident Kathryn Kay Fox, 76, of Houston, Texas, died May 17.

She grew up in Worland, Wyo., and Shawnee and was retired from JCPenney. She was a member of St. John Presbyterian Church in Houston. Services were May 19.

She is survived by her husband, James; son, Jeff, and three grandchildren, Brian, Lindsey and Stephen Fox, all of Houston.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Royce G. Hodge

Royce G. Hodge of Shawnee died Wednesday at the age of 67.

He was born May 24, 1931, to Wesley and Crystal Hodge in Weatherford. He was retired from Tinker Air Force Base, had been a Pottawatomie County reserve deputy sheriff under Paul Abel, a truck driver for Public Warehouse and had served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara, of the home; three daughters, Margaret Morrell, Formoso, Kan.; Mary K. Mix, Oklahoma City; Joyce G. LaChappell, Shawnee; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; three brothers, Everett Hodge, Loren Hodge, both of Lawton; Verl Hodge, Fletcher; two sisters, Melita Wegener, Talalla; Verla Holten, Oklahoma City, and many other relatives.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a great-granddaughter, Kylee Katherine.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Bill Eisenhour SE Chapel, Oklahoma City, with burial at Resthaven Cemetery.

Martha Frances Sparks

Maud resident Martha Frances Sparks died Saturday at the age of 84.

She was born Aug. 11, 1913, in Konawa to Maud Louisa Hensley and Ollie Rice Hensley. She married Earl Artveldt Sparks on April 8, 1933.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

Surviving are two sons, Billy Sparks, Muskogee; Harley E. Sparks, Olathe, Kan.; two daughters, JoAnn Anway, Colorado; Bobbie Sue Gresham, Whittier, Calif.; sisters, Ellie Finch and Ollie Knoll, both of Konawa; Jackie Rounsaville, Shawnee; Clara Adams, Texas, 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. today at Fairlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Pickard Funeral Home of Konawa. The Rev. Copple will officiate.

James Verlon Welcher

James Verlon Welcher died Wednesday at his home east of Okemah. He was 73.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel, Okemah, with the Rev. Jess Power officiating. Burial will be at Okfuskee Cemetery.

James Verlon Welcher was born Nov. 7, 1924, in Leslie, Ark., the son of Marion Selby Welcher and Jessie Smith Welcher. He married Esther Louise Harris on Dec. 5, 1946, in Fort Smith, Ark. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea and was a rancher.

Preceding him in death were his parents, four sisters and one brother.

Survivors include his wife, Esther Welcher, of the home in Okemah; sons and daughters-in-law, Racy and Mary Welcher, Edmond; Dobie and Susan, Okemah; daughter and son-in-law, Shelia and Lindall McLemore, Edmond; sister, Edith Davis, Atascadero, Calif., seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Edna M. Mayhugh

Shawnee resident Edna M. Mayhugh died Thursday in a local hospital. She was 72.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. today at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Terry Newell officiating.

Mayhugh was born March 26, 1926, in Oregon to George and Emma Powell.

She lived most of her life in Washington and moved to Shawnee in July of 1997. She was a retired practical nurse and a Church of Christ member.

Survivors include a daughter Deleta R. Moore, Washington; daughters and sons-in-law, Ruth and Larry Ball, Oklahoma City; Rebecca and Howard Humphrey, Shawnee; son and daughter-in-law, Thimothy and Theresa Mayhugh, Washington; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Lawrence C. Gillispie

Prague resident Lawrence C. Gillispie died Thursday in Oklahoma City. He was 79.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church of Prague with the Rev. Tim Emmons officiating. Burial will be 2:30 p.m. in Riverview Cemetery near Tonkawa under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Prague.

Gillispie was born June 24, 1918 in Hamburg, Okla., to Lawrence Clay and Martha J. (Mills) Gillispie. He graduated from Blackwell High School in 1937.

He lived most of his life in Tonkawa before moving to Prague in July 1995.

He married Wanda Cornwell on Aug. 18, 1940, in Blackwell.

He was a retired employee of Kay County and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Prague.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Gillispie, of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Ted and Jerri Gillispie, Prague; two brothers, Harvey Blue, Pawhuska, Alva Gillispie, Missouri; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
