Veldean Mae Grainger

Tecumseh resident Veldean Mae Grainger died Wednesday at a Norman hospital. She was 69.

Services will be 3 p.m. today at Resthaven Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Bob Anderson officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Mrs. Grainger was born Feb. 20, 1929, in Wellston to Vernal M. and Freeman R. Nelson. She attended school in Shawnee and married Albert L. Grainger on Feb. 2, 1969. She lived in the Shawnee area for 60 years.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 43, and the Church of Christ in Tecumseh. Mrs. Grainger worked for Sylvania and Tinker Air Force Base.

Survivors include her husband, Albert L. Grainger, of the VA Home in Sulphur; sisters, Norma Jean Nichols of Norman, Betty Cox of Granbury, Texas, Barbara Martin of Tecumseh, and several nieces and nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, Glen Peeler.

Inez Rader

Inez Rader, 83, Oklahoma City, died Saturday.

She was born on May 27, 1914, in Norman to Luke F. and Iva (Tidwell) Skaggs. She was a 1932 graduate of Tecumseh High School.

On Sept. 4, 1932, she married Nash M. Rader on Capitol Hill in Oklahoma City. She and her husband operated Rader's Grocery Store, Midwest City, for more than 30 years. After retirement, they moved back to Tecumseh, where she worked at Pratt's Grocery Store.

She and her husband moved to the Baptist Retirement Center, Oklahoma City, in 1993. She had been a member of the First Baptist Church, Tecumseh, before joining the Baptist Temple, Oklahoma City.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, L.F. Skaggs and Lewis Skaggs.

She is survived by her husband, of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Farrell J. and Shirley Rader, Jackson, Miss.; Don S. and Bonnie Rader, Edmond; and Dick Allen and Sue Rader, Shawnee; one brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Tommy Skaggs, Edmond; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, Tecumseh, with the Rev. J.T. Roberts, the Rev. W.F. Crow, and the Rev. Harvey G. Albright officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Arlington Memorial Gardens, Oklahoma City, Arrangements are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

Joe D. Collier

Joe D. Collier, 64, Shawnee, died Monday at his residence.

He was born April 20, 1934, in Wanette to H.P. and Audrey Collier. He married Myrna Mitchell in Manti, Utah.

He was a carpenter for United Builders and B&B Construction Company.

He was preceded in death by his wife.

He is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Marvin and Ivy Collier, Stillwater; Billy and Sheila Collier, Shawnee; and David Collier, Seoul, South Korea; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and James Boise, Shawnee; nine grandchildren; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Ernie Redford, Tampa, Fla., and Wilma and Hubert Mead, Moore.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel, with Marvin Collier officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery.

Winona S. Presley

Winona S. Presley, 72, Britton, died Monday.

She was born Dec. 21, 1925, in McLoud to Elmer and Effie Cochran Shingleton. She was a 1943 graduate of White Rock High School and attended Oklahoma A&M from 1943 to 1944.

She returned to White Rock as an emergency teacher in 1944. She moved to Britton in 1946 to work for a lumber company.

She married Edwin L. Presley in Britton in 1952. She returned to college in 1963 and received a degree in business administration in 1966. She was a member of the Britton Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, in 1984; her parents; brother Elmer Edwin, in 1968; and sister Othel Smith Ross, in 1997.

She is survived by her sister Helen Nichols, San Juan Capistrano, Calif.; brothers and sister-in-laws Knox and Ruth, Meeker, and Lyle and Dolores, Claremore; 15 nieces and nephews; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Charles and Anna Lee Presley and their family.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Britton Methodist Church. Burial will be at 2 p.m. at Jamison Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Presley Endowments at the following: Oklahoma 4-H Foundation, University of Central Oklahoma Foundation, Oklahoma City University, or Britton Methodist Church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Baggerley Funeral Home, Edmond.

Shirley Jo Shields

Shirley Jo Shields died Monday in Wetumka at the age of 56.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Little Cemetery with the Rev. Lynn Reed officiating.

She is survived by her brother, Ancil Shields, South Bend, Ind.; stepmother, Grace Shields, Sulphur; three aunts, Beulah Hanceford, Irene Seaborn, both of Shawnee; Connie Lacquement, Elizabethtown, Pa.; uncle, Virgil Shields, Las Vegas, Nev., and many other relatives.

Preceding her in death were her parents, the Rev. Hillard and Maggie Shields.

George H. McNeil

Graveside services for George H. "Peewee" McNeil, 72, Lovington, N.M., will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at Highland Cemetery, Okemah.

McNeil died Monday at Big Spring, Texas.

He was born Sept. 28, 1925, in Des Arc, Ark., to Steve and Shelly Cheatham McNeil. He served in the U.S. Navy, 73rd SeaBee Battalion, during World War II.

He married Charlotte O. Wilson in Pleasanton, Calif., on Oct. 22, 1945. He left Oklahoma in 1951. He worked for the oil industry and was a member of the Baptist church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one child.

He is survived by his wife, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen Lynn and Cathy McNeil, Plano, Texas, and George Randall and Deborah McNeil, Abilene, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Terri Rene and Kenny Romaine, Odessa, Texas; and seven grandchildren.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah.

Jane Tiger

Jane Tiger, 61, Shawnee, died Monday at a local hospital.

She was born Sept. 29, 1936, in Wewoka to Marcey Tiger and Mattie Buck Hale. She attended school in New Lima and at the Haskell Institute, Lawrence, Kan. She moved to Shawnee in 1957.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her children, Ginna and Keith Tiger, of the home, and Pamela Tiger and David Wilson, Oklahoma City; sisters Rachel Hale Nardin, Fullerton, Calif., and Gladys Hale, Oklahoma City; brother Richard Hale, Fullerton, Calif., and grandson Michael Chaney, Oklahoma City.

Services will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Wewoka Indian Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gary Hawkings officiating. Burial will be in Buck Family Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Stout Funeral Home.

Flora Jeanne Markham

Okemah resident Flora Jeanne Markham died Monday at a Henryetta hospital at the age of 70.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday in the gazebo at Highland Cemetery in Okemah with Father Roger Blais officiating, under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Okemah.

She was born Aug. 12, 1927, in Okmulgee, to Arthur Markham and Blanche (Montgomery) Cheek. She was a civil service payroll technician and a member of the Catholic Church.

She had lived in Moore before moving to Okmulgee County six years ago.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Julie Green of Groton, Conn.; a daughter, Leslie Holt of Henryetta; her mother, Blanche Cheek of Henryetta; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father; a son, Frank Wilcox; and her stepfather, Arvil Cheek.

Judith Marie Morris Klutts

Lifelong Okfuskee County resident Judith Marie (Morris) Klutts died Monday at a Okemah nursing home. She was 58.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at the Church of Christ in Okemah with Billy Green officiating, assisted by Roger Thompson. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery in Okemah under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Okemah.

Mrs. Klutts was born Dec. 24, 1939, in Okemah, to John and Bonnie Taylor Morris. She retired from the Oklahoma Employment Securities Commission and was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, Walter Joe Klutts of Okemah; two sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Toni McMullen of McAlester, Jimmy and Karen Klutts of Arlington, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Tonya and Tom Guinn of Okemah; her parents, John and Bonnie Morris of Okemah; two brothers, Ben Morris of Phoenix, Ariz., Kerry Morris of Concord, Calif.; a sister, Cammy Elliott of Okemah; six grandchildren.
