J.D. Montgomery

J.D. Montgomery, 82, Chandler, died Sunday in Oklahoma City.

He was born Aug. 28, 1915, in Midlothian to William W. Montgomery and Nova Susan Leach. He married Doris Arlene Bone in Davenport on Nov. 23, 1940. He was the owner of Jay's Supermarket and a deacon of the First Baptist Church, Chandler.

He is survived by his wife, of the home; son Gary Montgomery, Arkoma; daughters Joy Sullivan, Chandler, and Sharon Clary, Perkins, and sister Essie Long, Shawnee.

Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, Chandler, with the Rev. Rick Blackwell officiating. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Chandler.

Edith R. Taber

Former Seminole County resident Edith R. Taber, 61, died Friday in Ponca City.

She was born on April 11, 1937, in Seminole County to Alvin and ida Maude (Bruner) Hamon. She graduated from Prairie Valley High School.

She married Ernest Taber in Shawnee on Jan. 25, 1957. Mrs. Taber moved to Ponca City in 1959. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Conestoga Camper Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Kimberly, Ponca City, and David and Dawn, Detroit, Mich.; brother and sister-in-law, Floyd and Cora Lee, Shawnee; seven sisters; and six grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in the First Baptist Church Worship Center, with the Rev. Hance Dilbeck and the Rev. Larry Heslip officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. at Resthaven Memorial Park, Shawnee. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home, Ponca City.

Douglas Ray Kirby

Douglas Ray Kirby, 54, Midwest City, died Saturday in Wilburton.

He was born on July 10, 1943, in Sulphur to Wesley Henry and Ona Olena (Cavner) Kirby. He graduated from Sulphur High School. He served in the U.S. Army and the Army Reserve, worked as a pipe fitter at General Motors, and was a Shriner and a 32nd Degree Mason at the Wellston Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by daughters Stacey Stephens, Shawnee, and Samantha Kirby, Shawnee; sons Eddie Kirby, Tennessee, and Wes Kirby, Shawnee; stepchildren Howard Smith, Owasso, and Kelly Smith, Calif.; brothers Wesley Kirby Jr., Sulphur, and Norris Kirby, Shawnee; sisters Bernice Wood, Sulphur, and Pat Pittman and Chris Thompson, both of Wellston; and grandson Chance Stephens.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene "Tile" Kirby and Bob Kirby.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, Sulphur, with the Rev. Eddie Malphrus officiating. Burial will be in Drake Cemetery, Murray County. Arrangements are under the direction of Clegg Funeral Home, Sulphur.

Dorothy Wano

Tecumseh church pastor Dorothy Wano died Friday in a local hospital. She was 62.
Services 2 p.m. Tuesday at Resthaven Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Robinson officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Mrs. Wano was born Jan. 1, 1936, in Hobart. She married the Rev. Franklin Wano on Oct. 27, 1951, and also was a homemaker.

She was founder and president of the Full Gospel Assembly of God Church in Tecumseh and was pastor of the church for 18 years. She lived in Shawnee most of her life.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Ellen Wano of Shawnee; two daughters and brothers-in-law, Debbie and Jerry Robinson of North Carolina, Reba and Floyd Conway of Tecumseh; two sisters, Florence Honeycutt and Gayle Harden, both of Shawnee; a brother-in-law, Nathan Honeycutt; 10 grandchildren, Brian Conway, Renee Mullinax, Shawn Lugo, April Robinson, David Conway, Scott Lugo, Elizabeth Robinson, Roger Wano, T.J. Wano, and Dustin Conway.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and four sisters.

Frances P. Morris Bernard

Asher homemaker Frances P. Morris Bernard died Friday in a local hospital at the age of 56.
Services 2 p.m. Monday at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Craig officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Mrs. Bernard was born May 26, 1941, in Atoka, to Curtis and Sally Jane (Swafford) Morris. She spent her childhood in Daisy, Okla., before moving to the Shawnee area. She had lived in Asher the past 16 years.

She married Johnny Bernard on Nov. 12, 1963, in Gainesville, Texas, and was a member of the Baptist church.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Betty Bernard of Shawnee, Johnny Bernard Jr. of Midway, Texas; two daughters and a son-in-law, Sue Lowe of Asher, Jackie and John "Shan" Freeman of Tecumseh; a stepdaughter, Mildred Ann Johnson of Marshall, Texas; two sisters, Shirley Teague of Moore, Christine Schmidt of Holland, Mich.; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Bernard in 1984; a daughter, Roxanne; her parents; and a grandson, John Shannon Freeman Jr.

Irene Marie Driskill

Seminole homemaker Irene Marie Driskill died Saturday at her home. She was 77.
Services 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel in Seminole. Burial will be at Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Chapel in Seminole.

Mrs. Driskill was born Oct. 4, 1920, in Okmulgee, to Henry Green Taylor and Lucy Mae (Owens) Taylor. She married John Driskill and was affiliated with the Church of God.

Survivors include two sons, Douglas Price of Seminole, Jerry Price of Salina, Kan.; two daughters, Barbara Ussery of Tuttle, Debbie Hair of Shawnee; a brother, Albert Taylor of Seminole; 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband on June 22, 1996, and her parents.

Edith Leona Trammel

Edith Leona Trammel, 84, Ardmore, died Friday in an Ardmore nursing home.
She was born July 31, 1913, in Meeker to Clifford and Fannie (Pierson) Christy. She married Fred Trammel on Sept. 22, 1929. She was a homemaker and a member of the Shawnee Seventh Day Adventist Church.

She is survived by her husband of Ardmore; daughters Carol Ann Crone, Gentry, Ark., and Peggy Sue Wood, Ardmore; brothers, Preston Christy, Marysville, Calif., and Bobby Christy, Yuba City, Calif.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by daughter Betty Jean Trammel.

Graveside services 10 a.m. Monday at New Hope Cemetery in Meeker with Stanley Buckmaster officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Hattie V. Crabb

Hattie V. Crabb, 88, Shawnee, died Friday at a local hospital.
She was born Jan. 4, 1910, in Millerton, Okla., to D.T. and Mary Alice (McClure) McCafferty. She married Harry B. Crabb on Nov. 25, 1928, in Shawnee. She was a retired civil service worker from Tinker Air Force Base and was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church and the Order of Eastern Star.

She is survived by a daughter, Mary V. Hanes, Shawnee; a son, Clark Patchin; a granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Janice and Mike Percell, Shawnee; great-granddaughters Angela Seebeck and Debra Percell, both of Shawnee; a sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Connie Barnes, Lexington; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Oct. 30, 1956.

Services 11 a.m. Monday at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel, with Dr. Jeff Moore officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Ivan Theodore Herrold

Ivan Theodore "Ted" Herrold, 93, died in Midwest City Friday.
He was born June 14, 1904, in Indian Territory near Luther to Victor and Mable (Simpson) Herrold. He married Rubye Ione Cook on April 7, 1928, in Winfield, Kan. He was a retired farmer and also worked many years for True Fresh Egg Company, Jones. He was member of the Church of Christ, Luther.

He is survived by his wife, of the home; two sons, Ralph C. Herrold, Luther, and Ivan T. Herrold, Jr., Midwest City; six daughters, Lola Mae Spriggs, Del City; Barbara Jean Barnard, Shawnee; Marilyn Winans, Oklahoma City; Carolyn Metz, Higgington, Ark.; Bonita Tucker, Dallas, Texas; Darlene Hale, Oklahoma City; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

Services 2 p.m. Monday at the Wellston Church of Christ with Ken Murrell officiating. Burial will be in Wellston Cemetery.

John Ivan Stout

Shawnee resident John Ivan Stout died Friday at a local hospital. He was 81.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Paul Calmes officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Stout was born Sept. 17, 1916, in Seminole County to John and Leola (Phillips) Stout. He married Gertrude Blanken on Sept. 22, 1946. He married Theresa Farthing on Oct. 20, 1978, in Shawnee.

Stout attended Prairie Valley School and was a member of the Beacon Sunday school class at First Baptist Church.

He was in the U.S. Army and was stationed in the Philippines during World War II and was a Japanese prisoner of war for 3 1/2 years.

He retired from Tinker Field in 1978 and owned and operated Stout's Magneto Shop and later Stout's Marine.

Survivors include his wife, Theresa Stout, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Leola and Randy Johnson, Pink; son, Arlin Stout, Shawnee; stepson and daughter-in-law, James D. and Ramona Farthing, Shawnee; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Iris and Harry Harp, Aurora, Colo.; five grandchildren; sister, Jewel Bryant, Edmond; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Shawnee, 1102 W. MacArthur.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Floyd and Emil Stout; and his first wife, Gertrude Stout, in 1978.
