Joe D. Collier

Joe D. Collier, 64, Shawnee, died Monday at his residence.

He was born April 20, 1934, in Wanette to H.P. and Audrey Collier. He married Myrna Mitchell in Manila, Utah.

He was a carpenter for United Builders and B&B Construction Company.

He was preceded in death by his wife.

He is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Marvin and Ivy Collier, Stillwater; Billy and Sheila Collier, Shawnee; and David Collier, Seoul, South Korea; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and James Boise, Shawnee; nine grandchildren; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Ernie Redford, Tampa, Fla., and Wilma and Hubert Mead, Moore.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel, with Marvin Collier officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery.

Rosemary Clevenger

Rosemary Clevenger died May 14 in Oklahoma City at the age of 75.

She was born Dec. 3, 1922, in California, the daughter of William Homer Lane and Minta (Gravitt) Lane Kienzle. She was a resident of Oklahoma City and a member of Pennsylvania Avenue Christian Church. She was a retired medical laboratory technician.

Her parents preceded her in death.

Survivors include her daughter, Sharon Howell, Sumner, Wash.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Prague Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Prague.

Velma Vivian Garrison

Longtime Seminole resident Velma Vivian Garrison died Tuesday in a Seminole hospital. She was 93.

She was born April 11, 1905, in Seminole County, Indian Territory, the daughter of Alva Willis Criswell and Otha (Chastain) Criswell. She married Birtchell Garrison at Okemah on Nov. 29, 1926.

She was a homemaker and had received her teaching certificate from East Central University. She was a member of Little Church of Christ.

Survivors include her daughter, Joy Drake, Seminole; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Birtchell Garrison, in 1996, her parents and two brothers.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Little Cemetery with Doe McRay officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.

Violet Jane Chitwood

Shawnee resident Violet Jane Chitwood, 82, died Wednesday.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Cashion Cemetery in Cashion with the Rev. Rick Blackwell officiating. Burial will be at Cashion Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Chandler.

Mrs. Chitwood was born Nov. 6, 1915, near Chandler to William and Pearl (Cole) Farrow. She married L.L. "Bus" Chitwood on Nov. 23, 1935 in Seward.

She lived in Guthrie most of her life and worked in retail sales. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Guthrie.

Survivors include two sisters, Jerrie Cox and Imagene Seaba, both of Chandler; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a stepson, two brothers and her husband.

Chester Rice

Chester "Arky" Rice, Odessa, Texas, died Tuesday at the age of 90.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Webb officiating. Burial will be at Denver City Memorial Park, Denver City, Texas, under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home, Denver City.

Rice was born Jan. 8, 1908 in Joy, Texas. He married Flora M. Spears on July 20, 1929, in Devol.

He moved Denver City in 1949 and was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was employed by Amoco Oil.

Survivors include his wife, Flora; two sons, Sylvester Rice, Lubbock, Texas, and Ralph W. Rice, Odessa, Texas; a daughter, Sunny Sue Manning, Josephine, Texas; a brother, John C. Rice, Shawnee; a sister, Clara Germany, Hurst, Texas; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Halbert H. Sayers

Longtime area resident Halbert H. Sayers died Monday in a local nursing home. He was 93.

He was born Jan. 29, 1905, in Agra to Sol and Matilda Sayers. He was raised in Agra and graduated from high school in Springfield, Mo. He married Evadell Currie in Muskogee in 1932 and she preceded him in death in 1975.

He married Dosha Harmon Cox on June 7, 1977, in Shawnee. He was employed at Continental Bakery in Oklahoma City for many years and was a farmer in McLoud. He had lived in the Shawnee and McLoud area most of his life and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

Also preceding him in death were his parents, one brother and one sister.

Surviving are his wife, Dosha Sayers, of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Stanley and Billye Mae Sayers, Duncan; Donald and Donna Jo Sayers, Paul and Judy Sayers, all of Albuquerque, N.M.; stepsons and stepdaughters-in-law, Tommy and Peggy Cox, Tennessee; Jim and Lola Cox, Shawnee; Richard and Yvonne Cox, Sand Springs; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and many other relatives.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bob Mash officiating. Burial will be at Osage Cemetery at Agra.

Skyler Dalton Ebers

Skyler Dalton Ebers, infant son of Robert and Marcia (Kline) Ebers, died Sunday at the age of 3 months and 28 days.

Graveside service was Tuesday at Rossville Cemetery with the Rev. Dwain Young officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Chandler.

Skyler Dalton Ebers was born May 12, 1998, in Oklahoma City.

He is survived by his parents, Robert and Marcia Ebers; grandparents, Mike and Carolann Kline, Chandler; Frank and Vetrice Ebers, Chandler, great-grandmother, Clara Evans, Chandler, and many other relatives.

Harvey Ray Cullum

Stroud resident Harvey Ray Cullum died Tuesday at his home at the age of 66.

He was born July 17, 1932, in Spauling, Okla., the son of Ben and Lizzie (Lanham) Cullum. He married Virgie Louise Pierce in Gainesville, Texas, on Oct. 6, 1996, and was Baptist. He was a welder and mechanic and had moved from Dover to Stroud in 1989.

His parents, three brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Louise, of the home; son, Rickey Cullum, Stroud; daughters, Rutheen Copeland, Enid; Barbara Lumplin, Kingfisher; brothers, Frankie Cullum, Bowlegs; Bennie Cullum, Holdenville, and sisters, Helen Pagett, Seminole; Loucille Teters, Stroud, and Cathryn Butts, New Lima.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Cummings Cemetery in Maud with the Rev. Larry Chesser officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Stroud.

Ronald Wolfe

Ronald "Ron" Wolfe of Shawnee died Saturday at the age of 40.

Service will be 4 p.m. today at the Maeadia J. Gilcrease residence, 2302 Faith Blvd. Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Ronald Wolfe was born Dec. 27, 1957, in Shawnee, the son of Hugh and Abbie (Foreman) Wolfe. He attended Shawnee Schools and Okmulgee Tech and had served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

His father preceded him in death.

Surviving are his mother, Abbie M. Wolfe, of the home; daughter, Amada Wolfe, Chandler; brothers, Houston H. Wolfe, Leonard Wayne Wolfe, Zachary Paul Wolfe, all of Shawnee; sisters, Maeadia J. Gilcrease, Shawnee; Hughlene Q. Breeding, Tecumseh, and many other relatives including his aunt, Darby Squire, Shawnee, and uncles, William Squire and Amper Foreman, Shawnee.

John W. McKinney

John W. McKinney died Monday in Shawnee at the age of 74.

He was born Sept. 18, 1923, in Keota, the son of Clarence Eugene and Alsie (Pickens) McKinney. A resident of Prague, he had retired as a printer for Fillice and Perrilli Co. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.

Surviving are his brother, Clarence McKinney, Prague; two sisters, Mary Metcalf, Sacramento, Calif.; Ovelia Freeman, San Pablo, Calif., and many other relatives including a niece, Cathy Green, Prague.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Nubbin Ridge Cemetery near Spiro with the Rev. Larry Palmer officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Prague.
