Iris Plumlee Ball

Tecumseh resident Iris Plumlee Ball, 85, died Thursday in Midwest City.

Services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Cooper Funeral Chapel in Tecumseh with the Rev. Robert Rider and the Rev. Darel Neace officiating. Burial will be at Tecumseh Cemetery.

Faires R. Bryce

Tecumseh resident Faires R. "Hack" Bryce died Thursday at a local hospital at the age of 76.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Sharon Baptist Church with the Rev. Clint Dawkins and the Rev. Wayne Cathey officiating. Burial will be at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home in Tecumseh.

Further information is pending.

Glenda Scrutchins

Glenda Scrutchins, 63, Shawnee, died Friday at her residence.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Emmanuel Episcopal Church. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Bobbie Jo Cook

Shawnee resident Bobbie Jo Cook died Monday in Shawnee. She was 16.

Cook was born April 4, 1983, in Shawnee to Bobby Gene and Judy Ann (Holsapple) Cook. She attended school in Tecumseh at Barnard Elementary, Cross Timbers Elementary, Tecumseh Middle School and was a junior at Tecumseh High School.

She worked with Roger Ensign Exotic Animal Sales in Prague and with James Henderson at Ada Auction. She planned to become a veterinarian's assistant and was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Tecumseh.

Survivors include her parents, Judy and Bob Cook, of the home; brother, Kenny Cook of the home; grandfather, Hubert Holsapple, Shawnee; aunts and uncles, Janice Cooper and Nancy Holsapple, both of Shawnee; Gerlene and Floyd Goodnight, Tecumseh; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Earl and Lois Cook and Louie Holsapple; and two cousins, Phil Barnes and Rodney Cooper.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at First Assembly of God Church, Tecumseh, with the Rev. Robert Rider officiating. Burial will be in Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home.

Paul Raymond Whetstone

Norman resident Paul Raymond Whetstone died Sunday in Norman. He was 84.

Whetstone was born July 29, 1914, in Central City, Neb., to Delbert A. and Ethel Smalley Whetstone. He married Dorothy Pitts on Oct. 15, 1932, in Bristow, Okla.

He spent most of his childhood in Oklahoma and attended school in Micawber, Okla. He was a farmer until 1944 when he took a job with Tidewater Oil Refinery in Drumright. He worked there for 12 years. In 1955, he moved to Oklahoma City and attended barber school. He bought and operated his first barber shop in Stroud and remained in that occupation for 42 years, until he retired in 1997. He moved to Rivermont Retirement Community in Norman where he was Star Resident of the Month in September 1998.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Jesse (Pitts) Whetstone; two daughters and sons-in-law, Norma Whetstone Howard and her husband Thomas E. and Paulette Whetstone Barnes and her husband Fred J.; three sisters, Nova Welter, Lucille Laughlin and Marie Gonzales; two brothers, Jack Whetstone and Delbert Whetstone; five grandchildren, Thomas Eugene Howard, Katheryn Sue Howard, Timothy Ray Howard, Bradley Mark Barnes and Amy Barnes Harnish; nine great-grandchildren, Jennifer Zucker, Jacob Paul Zucker, Whitney Howard, Kayla Howard, Leanne Howard, Thomas Howard II, Jon-Paul Howard, Madison Harnish and Braden Barnes.

Services will be 1 p.m. today at the Stroud Methodist Church in Stroud with the Rev. Kathy Leitner officiating. Burial will follow at Stroud City Cemetery under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home, Stroud.

Ruby N. Courtney

Ruby N. Courtney died Monday at her home south of Davenport. She was 54.

Mrs. Courtney was born Feb. 11, 1945, in Lamesa, Texas. She married Gary P. Courtney on May 16, 1972. She worked as a partner with her husband at a C.P.A. office in Davenport.

Survivors include her husband, Gary Courtney; children, Michelle Carey, Shamrock, Texas, Michael Courtney, Minot, N.D., Jacquelin Courtney, Stillwater, and Carey Courtney, Norman; her mother, Alene Gibson; four sisters, Nancy Fischer, Joyce Zimbelman, Edna Newberry and Melissa Kovacs; three brothers, Dale Gibson, William Gibson and Odis Gibson Jr.

Funeral mass will be 2 p.m. today at St. John's University Catholic Parish in Stillwater under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Chandler.

Memorials may be made to Caring Hands Hospice of Lincoln County.

Lucille Marie (Laurent) Miller

Lucille Marie (Laurent) Miller of Norman died Tuesday in Norman.

She was born July 29, 1914, in Wanette. On Jan. 8, 1931, she married William Ray "Bill" Miller. They lived in Wanette where they farmed for many years. In 1955, they purchased a grocery store and moved to Goldsby. After the death of her husband, she moved to Norman and became a member of Berry Road Baptist Church in 1971.

Preceding her in death were her husband in 1968, two daughters, two granddaughters, one great-granddaughter, four sisters and one brother.

Surviving are three sons, Charles; Ralph and wife Darla, Dale and wife Carole, all of Goldsby; two daughters, Peggy Bouska and husband Carl of Lexington, Nancy Matsumura and husband Mat of Lubbock, Texas; one brother, Wilson Laurent of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Mabel Laurent and Clara Laurent of California; 16 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel in Norman. Graveside services will be noon at the Wanette Cemetery under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home.

Ella Naoma Trollinger

McLoud resident Ella Naoma Trollinger died Sunday at her home. She was 86.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in McLoud with the Rev. Dan Weaver officiating, assisted by Chaplin Bill Derrick. Burial will be at Dale Cemetery under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Trollinger was born March 4, 1912, near McLoud to John and Lessie (Nelson) Miller. She attended Buck and White Rock Schools. She married Ralph Trollinger Sr. on June 18, 1930.

She was owner of Trollinger's Laundry in McLoud and also worked at Seikel Department Store. She also volunteered at the First Baptist Church and the McLoud Senior Citizen Center.

Survivors include son-in-law, Herbert Large, McLoud; sisters, Dorothy Katron, Wichita, Kan., Velma Eckert, Harrah, Florence McVey, Harrah, and Bernice Beatty, Choctaw; brother, Randolph Miller, Harrah; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1979; two daughters, Jackie Lou Large and Lessie Loudell Price; and three grandchildren.

Ralph Trollinger Jr.

McLoud carpenter Ralph Trollinger Jr. died Sunday at his McLoud home. He was 59.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in McLoud with the Rev. Dan Weaver officiating, assisted by Chaplin Bill Derrick. Burial will be at Dale Cemetery under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Trollinger was born March 25, 1939, in Fayetteville, Ark., to Ralph Sr. and Naoma (Miller) Trollinger. He attended McLoud High School and worked for Shawnee Milling Company and Purina Feed.

He was a member of the McLoud First Baptist Church.

Survivors include a niece, Rita Hale of Lone Grove; two nephews, Timothy Large of Coalgate and John Paul Price of Pauls Valley; a good friend, Ann Trollinger of Shawnee; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Trollinger Sr.; two sisters, Jackie Lou Large and Lessie Loudell Price.

Viola V. (Moore) Collignon

Viola V. (Moore) Collignon of Shawnee died Monday in a local hospital at the age of 84.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Chuck Utsler will officiate.

She was born Feb. 14, 1914, in Shawnee to Henry and Katie (Weeden) Moore and attended school in the Shawnee area. She married Albert Ralph Collignon in California on Oct. 3, 1943, and they returned to Shawnee in 1970. She had worked as a meat cutter at Piggly Wiggly Supermarket. She was Baptist.

Surviving are her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Verton and Iona Collignon, Chicago, Ill.; sister-in-law, Ethel Moore, Shawnee; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, four brothers and one sister.

Gerald Dean Scoles

Gerald Dean Scoles, 67, died Friday in an Oklahoma City hospital.

He was born Oct. 7, 1930, in Oklahoma City to Stephen William and Helen Mary Julia (Krueger) Scoles. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and an iron worker and member of the Ironworkers Union.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include three sons, William Scoles and Gary Scoles, both of Oregon, and Robert Scoles, Oklahoma City; five daughters, Vickie Lynn Cowan, Shawnee, Deana Jo Cavanaugh, Santa Monica, Calif., Melissa Ann Parsons, Wynnewood, Eunice Melinda Scoles, Hayworth, and Charity Jayne Scoles, Oklahoma City; seven grandsons; seven granddaughters; one great-grandson; one great-granddaughter; two sisters, Dorothy Maness and Jeanette Aileen "Tootsie" Lee, both of Oklahoma City, and five brothers, Robert Lee "Bob" Scoles, Stella, Jack Raymond Scoles, Washington, James Joseph "Jim" Scoles, Tommy Leon Scoles and Jerry Dwayne Scoles, all of Oklahoma City.
