Ray Harp

Shawnee resident Ray Harp died Thursday in Tulsa. He was 71.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Liberty Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Matthews and Phil Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

Harp was born May 24, 1927, in Shawnee to Willie A. and Effie (Mohon) Harp and grew up northeast of Shawnee in the Johnson community. He married Estelle Wallace June 1, 1947, in Shawnee and they lived in the Johnson community.

He graduated from Earlsboro High School in 1945.

He was a routeman in northwest Shawnee for Coca-Cola Bottling Co. from 1952 to 1965. He then worked with Fred Jones Remanufacturing Company, Oklahoma City, until retiring in May 1989.

He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and lived on a farm and raised cattle.

Survivors include his wife, Estelle Harp, of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Phyllis Harp, Perkins; daughter and son-in-law, Kay and the Rev. Don Hall, Fort Smith, Ark.; sister and brother-in-law, Willeta and Elza Jordan, Shawnee; and five grandchildren Jana Harp Bradshaw and spouse, Kevin Bradshaw, both of Perkins; Tara Rae Harp, Oklahoma City; Rudy Lambert, Seattle, Wash.; Julie Lambert, Fort Smith, Ark.; and Emily Harp, Perkins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert A. Harp; and an infant brother, Carol Harp.

Carol Ann Niekraszewicz

Memorial services for Carol Ann Niekraszewicz will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the Niekraszewicz family home. Friends and family will meet at Cooper Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

Martha Elizabeth Poteet

Martha Elizabeth "Mattie" Poteet, 101, Shawnee, died Friday at a local nursing home.

She was born Jan. 7, 1897, in Little Creek, north of Hartville, Mo., to James and Elizabeth (Kelly) Clark.

She was a schoolteacher and bookkeeper prior to her marriage to Jake F. Poteet, on March 8, 1923, in Springfield, Mo. She lived in Okemah, Seminole, and Oklahoma City before moving to Shawnee in 1947. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and Bible study, and the author of a book of children's poems.

She is survived by daughter Wanda Haggard, Shawnee; two grandsons and granddaughters-in-law, Clark and Kathie Haggard, Midwest City, and Pat and Cheryl Haggard, Shawnee; six great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sister Lottie Newton and sister-in-law Claudine Clark, both of Hartville, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, on Aug. 11, 1986; and four brothers, Alec, Andrew, Bill, and Edwin Clark.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Sam Hendry officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.

William Oscar Briscoe III

William Oscar "Pete" Briscoe III, 61, Earlsboro, died Friday at a local hospital.

He was born Jan. 18, 1937, in Vinita to William and Elsie Briscoe. He attended school in Big Lake, Texas, and repaired machinery in the U.S. Navy. He had been a mechanical engineer at Eaton Corporation since 1984.

He moved to Earlsboro from Shawnee eight years ago. He was a member of the Shawnee Thunderbirds Remote Control Club and the American Motorcycle Association.

He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael S. Briscoe and Gary J. and Sandra Briscoe, Shawnee; two grandchildren, Brandy Briscoe, Stillwater, and Rachelle Briscoe, Shawnee; brother John Briscoe, Dallas, Texas; and sister

Isabel Petty, Amarillo, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held at a later date and announced by Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

William H. Conner

Retired truck driver William H. "Buckeye" Conner, Shawnee, died May 24 at the age of 77.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Johnson Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Chapel in Tecumseh.

Conner was born Dec. 19, 1920, in Bloomville, Ohio, to Herchel and Flossie (Shutt) Conner. He was reared in Sycamore, Ohio, and moved to Oklahoma in 1982.

He was a cross country truck driver and also managed motels in Texas, Oklahoma and Missouri.

Survivors include three sons, Hershel Conner of Sycamore, Ohio, William R. Conner of Shawnee, Cy Conner of Tampa, Fla.; four daughters, Phebe Folk of Bloomdale, Ohio, Darlene McKitrick of Findlay, Ohio, Barbara Lewis Findlay, Ohio, Billie Jean Clemont of Tampa, Fla.; two sisters, Anna Hall of Sycamore, Ohio, Fanny Mae Conner of Napolean, Ohio; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kernie H. Conner; a daughter, Zala Conner; and a brother, Herchel Conner.

Woodrow Johnnie Fuller

Longtime Seminole resident Woodrow "Woody" Johnnie Fuller died Thursday at Pittsburgh, Pa., at the age of 79.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole with the Rev. Lin Jones officiating. Burial will be at Little Cemetery.

Fuller was born March 14, 1919, in Bennington, Okla., to Enoch John Garion Fuller and Elsie (Gish) Fuller. He married Lula "Lou" Marie Cathey on Dec. 13, 1941, in Abilene, Texas. He moved to Seminole from Fieldton, Texas, in 1937.

He was a staff sergeant in the Medical Corps during World War II and was a member of the Ideal Street Baptist Church. Fuller worked in the oilfields and Tinker Air Force Base, retiring in 1982.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Marvin J. and Janice S. (Hodges) Fuller of Upper St. Clair, Pa., Melvin J. and Cheryl Fuller of Bonita Springs, Fla.; a sister, Jewel Dooley of Lubbock, Texas; six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

Mary Way

Oklahoma City resident Mary Way died Friday at the age of 77.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Resthaven Memory Gardens in Oklahoma City, under the direction of Vondel L. Smith and Sons Mortuaries, Oklahoma City.

Mrs. Way was born April 14, 1921, in Missouri. She was an employee of the Oklahoma Fairgrounds Fair Board.

She formerly performed in the circus, starting at the age of 10, and at one time had a dog act with 13 dogs.

Survivors include her husband, Bob Way of the home; and several nieces.

Juanita (Escoe) McKenzie

Former Shawnee resident Juanita (Escoe) McKenzie died Friday at the age of 73.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Oakcliff Church of the Nazarene in Oklahoma City. Burial will be at Fairlawn Cemetery in Cushing under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, Del City.

Mrs. McKenzie was born June 11, 1924, in Seiling, Okla., to Charles and Dora Escoe. She attended school in Cushing and the surrounding area. She was a member of the Oakcliff Church of the Nazarene in Oklahoma City.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Sandra McKenzie of Moore, John and Helen (Schornick) McKenzie of Oklahoma City; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four sisters and a brother-in-law, Dessie Jarvis of Mustang, Ruby Osborne of Claremore, Lulamac McAuley of Sand Springs, Muriel and Don Williams of Shawnee; three sisters-in-law, Winnie Escoe of Cushing, Ethel Thomas of Midwest City, Lil Moffatt and husband, Barney, of Dallas, Texas; and several other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter McKenzie; a son, Kerry McKenzie; a brother, Harold Escoe.

Raymond Holland

Longtime Seminole resident Raymond Holland died Friday in an Oklahoma City hospital. He was 81.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel in Seminole with Henry Penix officiating. Burial will be at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.

Holland was born July 15, 1916, in Red Star, Ark., to Chester Arthur Holland and Dema Roberts Holland. He married Lorene Gibson on Dec. 7, 1989, in Ada. He was also married to Alice Holland on Feb. 24, 1940, in Maud. She preceded him in death on Nov. 3, 1989.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and retired from Oklahoma Gas and Electric after 37 years. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church and the I.O.O.F. Oddfellows Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Lorene Holland of the home; three sons, James L. Holland of Oklahoma City, Chester Holland of Alleton, Texas, Dennis Holland of Tecumseh; a daughter, Patricia Price of Los Angeles, Calif.; two brothers, Fred Holland of Checotah, Vernal Holland of Pueblo, Colo.; a sister, Rose McCalister of Michigan; 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by three brothers, three sisters; a daughter, Saundra Hilton in 1989; a grandson, Bobby Joe Holland in 1973.
