Margaret Beatrice (Ralstin) Myers

Former Seminole resident Margaret Beatrice (Ralstin) Myers died Tuesday at a Quitman, Texas, nursing home. She was 86.

Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. today at Resthaven Memorial Cemetery in Shawnee with the Rev. Bill Crawford officiating, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.

Mrs. Myers was born Nov. 8, 1911, in Warwick, Okla., to Murrel B. and Margaret Rebecca (Sharp) Ralstin. She married John H. "Jack" Myers in 1928, in Davenport.

She had worked at Fowler and Adwan Grocery in St. Louis in the early 1940s for 20 years and also worked at JCPenney's in the 1960s.

She was a Central State University house mother for 10 years in Edmond and worked at Vogue in Seminole for 10 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Seminole.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, John M. and Carole Myers of Quitman, Texas, Richard E. "Gene" and Rinda Myers of Sulphur; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, on Jan. 26, 1965; two brothers and a sister.

Virginia Hardesty

Lifelong Shawnee resident Virginia Hardesty died Sunday at the age of 72.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Rock Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Reed Lynn officiating. Private burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Cooper Funeral Chapel of Tecumseh.

She was born Jan. 13, 1926, in Shawnee, the daughter of Frank and Pauline (Ott) Oliver. She was a graduate of Shawnee High School and was football Homecoming queen in 1943.

She married Murl Hardesty on March 23, 1946, and they owned and operated Hardesty Grocery for 35 years. Mrs. Hardesty was a member of Rock Creek Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents and one brother, Tommy Oliver.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Murl Hardesty, of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Barbara Hardesty, Shawnee; daughter, Cheri Brockman, Duncan; daughter and son-in-law, Ginger and Jerry Vandegrift, Shawnee; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Wayne Griffin, Norman; brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Yvonne Oliver, Shawnee; brother, Paul Oliver, Shawnee; five grandchildren, Andrew and Sarah Brockman, Duncan; Kayci Vandegrift, Norman; Jev and Nina Vandegrift, Naples, Fla., one great-granddaughter and many other relatives.

Memorials may be made to Rock Creek Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 44900 Hardesty Road, Shawnee OK 74801, Hospice of Shawnee, and the American Cancer Society.

Bertha Mae (Lemonds) Cash

Longtime Oklahoma teacher Bertha Mae (Lemonds) Cash died Sunday in Edmond at the age of 94.

She was born April 14, 1904, near Holdenville, Indian Territory, the daughter of Thomas Abraham and Dicie Drucilla (Cox) Lemonds. The family moved to Keokuk Falls and later to Paden where she graduated from high school in 1922.

She married Martin Cash on Oct. 12, 1922, in Henryetta. They lived in Paden and Shawnee until moving to the Vanzant community south of Paden, where they lived from 1931 to 1954. She moved from Okemah to Shawnee in 1975 and to Edmond in 1992.

Mrs. Cash started teaching school while in her teens and taught at Fifty-two, Vanzant, Garden Grove, southwest of Paden, and later at Centerview, south of Prague, for 18 years. She earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education in 1940 and held a lifetime teaching certificate. She also taught at Victorville, Calif., in 1957-58, and Okarche, 1958-61. She was a member of Oklahoma Education Association and National Education Association and retired in the 1960s with 36 years paid in the Oklahoma system. She then taught for four years in Sanders, Ariz., before returning to Oklahoma. She had taught school for 48 years and taught many music students.

She was a longtime member of the Church of Christ and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for 70 years.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Martin Cash, in 1954; her parents; one brother, Marvin L. Lemonds; two sons-in-law, Don Snyder and Eugene Marshall; one grandson, Freddie Martin Snyder, and one great-granddaughter, Sara

Beth Tedford.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Martin Jr. and Margie Cash, Meeker; daughter, Norma Jo Marshall, Victorville, Calif.; daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie (Snyder) and Earl Taber, Edmond; sisters-in-law, Ruby Lemonds, Velma; Alice Cash, Okemah; seven grandchildren, PebbleeSharon (Snyder) Tedford, Eugenia Mae (Marshall) Bishop, Timothy Don Snyder, MartiniaaJo (Marshall) Walters, Martin T. "Trey" Cash III, Valarie (Cash) Gray, Erin E. Cash, 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandsons.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Prague with burial following at Paden Cemetery.

Julie Ann (Kroeling) Hale

Julie Ann (Kroeling) Hale died Saturday in a local hospital at the age of 39.

Vigil will be at 7 p.m. today at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Benedict Catholic Church. The Rev. Maurus Jaeb, O.S.B., will officiate.

Julie Ann Kroeling was born April 23, 1959, in Shawnee to Stan and Kathy Kroeling. She attended Shawnee Schools and graduated in 1977. She married Keith Wayne Hale in August 1976.

She received her associate degree from Los Modonas Junior College, Pittsburg, Calif., and was a licensed practical nurse at Veterans Administration Hospital in Oklahoma City. She was a member of St. Benedict Church.

Surviving are her husband, Keith Hale, and son, Keith Hale Jr., of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Chad Gilmore, Shawnee; grandson, C.J. Gilmore, Shawnee; parents, Stan and Kathy Koeling, Shawnee; sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Greg Simpson, Shawnee; sister, Roberta Koeling, Shawnee; father-in-law and stepmother-in-law, Arthur and Dee Hale, Antioch, Calif.; mother-in-law, Barbara Bond, Antioch, Calif.; brother-in-law, Don Hale, Oregon, and many other relatives.

Memorials may be made to St. Benedict Church Building Fund, 634 N. Kickapoo, Shawnee OK 74801.

Aline Grace (Votaw) Kelly

Shawnee resident Aline Grace (Votaw) Kelly died Saturday at a local nursing home. She was 76.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. today at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with Russ Furgason officiating. Burial will be in Tecumseh Cemetery. Casket will be open until service.

She was born Nov. 3, 1921, in Neodesha, Kan., to Walter Lee and Jessie Ann (Ford) Votaw. She attended Prairie Valley School in Seminole County. Kelly was employed by Sylvania Electronics and later by Tinker Air Force Base.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Warren Baxter, Shawnee; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Sherry Kelly, Prague; son, Jimmy Kelly, Landcaster, Calif.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and sisters, Irene and Jack Thoma, Casper, Wyo.; Pat Handy and Norene Carsten, both of Casper, Wyo.; Opal and LeRoy Carsten, Anaheim, Calif.; June Furgason and Vashti Little, both of Shawnee, and brother and sister-in-law, Walter Lee Jr. and Lourie Votaw, Casper Wyo.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Joyce Woods and Ora Belle Votaw.

Alvanell E. Cudd

Alvanell E. Cudd of Shawnee died Saturday in an Oklahoma City hospital. She was 73.

She was born Sept. 6, 1924, in Cromwell, the daughter of Floyd and Ola Eakens. She graduated from Wewoka High School and was a nurse, bookkeeper, and homemaker. She married Roy E. Cudd on July 26, 1941.

Survivors include her son, Kip Cudd; daughter, Patricia Smith, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Roy E. Cudd, in 1994; four infant children, two sisters and one brother.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ochiltree County Cemetery in Perryton, Texas, with the Rev. Craig Vandeberg officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Elma K. Rainwater

Stroud resident Elma K. Rainwater died Monday in Stroud. She was 88.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Stroud Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Stroud.

Rainwater was born Jan. 26, 1910, in Bristow to Jesse Oliver and Grace Angeline (Reynolds) Kaser. She married Louie Rainwater in Stroud on July 28, 1976.

Rainwater was a homemaker and had lived in Stroud since 1976.

Survivors include her daughter, Jerri Morgan, Havelock, N.C.; stepson, John Rainwater and his wife, Betty, of Stroud; stepdaughters, Thelma Melson, Colorado; Wilma Russell, Seminole; and eight grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louie Rainwater, in 1985; her parents and two brothers.

Claudie Belle Deatherage

Shawnee resident Claudie Belle Deatherage died Saturday at a local hospital. She was 81.

Deatherage was born Oct. 6, 1916 in Jacksboro, Texas, to Silas Texas and Rhoda I. (Hale) Smith. She married Delbert Clinton Pickett in 1934. After his death, she married Mark Deatherage in 1951.

Deatherage attended school in Newport, Texas. She was a homemaker and a member of Liberty Baptist Church.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Tom Winters, Shawnee; daughters, Laura Whitehead, Lawton; Mary Ann Powell, Scottsdale, Ariz.; son, Jim Deatherage, Wichita Falls, Texas; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Milton D. Lewis, Faxon, Okla.; and John F. Lewis, Lawton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Delbert Clinton Pickett, in 1934; her husband, Mark Deatherage, in 1990; and three brothers.

Burial was at Truce Cemetery, Newport, Texas, under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Liberty Retirement Center.
