Clara Frazier

Asher homemaker Clara Frazier died Monday in an Ada hospital at the age of 86.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Jehovah's Witness Kingdom Hall in Shawnee with Stanley B. Sypien officiating, under the direction of Criswell Funeral Home in Ada.

Mrs. Frazier was born Nov. 21, 1911, in Clarita, Okla., to J.D. Petty and Ida Buckholtz. She attended Clarita Elementary, Norman High School and received her master's degree from the University of Oklahoma. She was also a teacher and a Jehovah's Witness.

Survivors include a sister, Sue Briggs of Farmington, N.M.; and several other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband.

Verla Jo Hatfield Shipley

Seminole homemaker Verla Jo Hatfield Shipley died Tuesday at her home. She was 69.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Swearingen Funeral Chapel in Seminole with the Rev. Doyle Long officiating. Burial will be at Holdenville Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.

Mrs. Shipley was born Aug. 11, 1928, in Dexter, Texas, to William Clyde and Maudie (Bybee) Harrison. She married Bill Shipley on Oct. 26, 1979, in Wewoka.

She was a member of the First Methodist Church in Wewoka and the Eastern Star.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Shipley of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Gail Hatfield of Noble; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Larry Cluck of McAlester; two stepsons, Larry and Lee Shipley, both of Dallas, Texas; a brother, Ray Harrison of Amarillo, Texas; a sister, Ovalene Byrd of Dallas, Texas; five grandchildren, a great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Laverne Barnes; two brothers, Weldon "Skeez" Harrison and Tommy Harrison.

Harold J. Baker

The Rev. Harold Jeff Baker died Monday in Shawnee at the age of 80.

He was born April 2, 1918, in Loco to David Jeff and Ida Leona (Frells) Baker. He married Marie Barham on Oct. 16, 1938, in Comanche.

He began preaching in 1947 in Hobart and was ordained to the ministry in 1949. He pastored churches in Ninnekah, Bowlegs, Rush Springs, Pruitt City, Wetumka, and Velma and served the Assembly of God Church in Prague for the last 18 years.

He held revival across the nation for more than 50 years. He traveled on international mission trips to distribute Bibles and conduct crusades. He also was a member of Lions International.

Survivors include his wife, Marie Baker, of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Harold Jeff and Diane Baker, Gilmore, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Juana and Don Aylor, Prague; brothers, Hurshel Baker, Fox; Hamp Baker, Oklahoma City; sisters, Dimple Varness, Duncan; Rozella Pevehouse, Ardmore; seven grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and five stepgreat-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one daughter, Harlene Baker, and sister, Retha Heins.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Prague Assembly of God Church with Dr. Armon Newburn officiating, assisted by Kevin Wehrli, the Rev. Tim Emmons and the Rev. Robert Rider. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. at Dixie Cemetery north of Ringling. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Prague.

Letha Elisabeth Maize

Letha Elisabeth Maize of Shawnee died Monday in a local nursing home at the age of 94.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Little Cemetery. Further arrangements will be announced.

Grace Clara Husted

Prague resident Grace Clara Husted died Monday at the age of 79.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Benjamin Husted and the Rev. Andrew Husted officiating. Burial will be announced at a later date and will be held at Lone Elm Cemetery in Lone Elm, Kan., under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Prague.

Mrs. Husted was born Oct. 24, 1918, in Brownell, Kan., to Ernest Lincoln and Inez (Crone) Smith. She married Donald Clifford Husted on Dec. 26, 1942, in Lone Elm, Kan.

She was a member of the Love Invasion Church in Prague for the past six months, and was a former member of the United Methodist faith. She had lived in Prague the past six months.

Survivors include three sons and three daughters-in-law, Dr. Benjamin R. and Judy Husted of Prague, the Rev. Andrew C. and Eileen Husted of Clayton, N.M., Anthony E. and Doris Husted of Albuquerque, N.M.; a daughter, Marceda Pareo of Clovis, N.M.; a brother, Howard Smith of Ottawa, Kan.; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband on July 12, 1997; her parents; a brother, Frank Smith and a sister, Elva Stout.

Mae Eggar Hattie

Mae Eggar Hattie, 92, former resident of Wolf for 42 years, died Monday in Tecumseh.

She was born July 4, 1905, in Eldon, Mo., to John Toliver and Kitty Bell (Wheaton) Snelling. She married Eley O. Eggar on Feb. 7, 1922, in Eufaula. She lived in Wolf from 1926 to 1968, then moved to Eufaula. She was a homemaker and a member of the Assembly of God Church.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Eley T. and Janice Eggar, Watonga; five daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Ed Galloway, Bella Vista, Ark.; Elsie and Philip Sales, Oklahoma City; Carolyn and Jim Copeland, Eufaula; Patsy and Roy Gentry, Holdenville; and Barbara and Delbert Aldridge, Seminole; sister Telena Gilliland, Chowchilla, Calif.; sister-in-law Dellie Snelling, Atwater, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Swearingen Funeral Chapel, Seminole, with the Rev. David Karges officiating. Burial will be in Little Cemetery.

Dewey Edward Brison

Dewey Edward Brison, 76, Henryetta, died Tuesday in Eufaula.

He was born on Jan. 27, 1922, in Weleetka to Monroe and Rosie Lee (Luellen) Brison. He married Mozell Morris on March 21, 1942, in Henryetta. He served in the U.S. Army and was a farmer, a rancher, and a service station owner.

Survivors include his wife; son and daughter-in-law Monroe and Diana Brison, Henryetta; daughter and son-in-law Cheryl and Keith Craft, Cartwright; brother R.T. Brison, Checotah; two sisters, Nora Blankenship and Evelyn Miller, both of Henryetta; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and one sister.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Henryetta First Baptist Church. Burial will in West Lawn Cemetery, Henryetta. Arrangements are under the direction of the Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah.

Sallie Rufina Trow

Sallie Rufina Trow, 96, Okemah, died Tuesday at a local nursing home.

She was born Sept. 3, 1901, in Tarrant County, Texas, to Pliny W. and Linnie (Watson) Roberts. She married Henry Trow. She was a retired owner and operator of Roberts & Trow "Here 'Tis" Grocery. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dr. Haskell and LuCretia Roberts, Denver, Pa., and George and Helen Roberts, Glendale, Ariz.; one sister and brother-in-law, Noweta and Albert Melton, Springfield, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three brothers, Dr. John E. Roberts, P.W. Roberts Jr., and Luther P. Roberts, and two sisters, Margia Noblin and Tiny Lee Roberts.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Parks Funeral Home Chapel, Okemah, with the Rev. Don Lehman officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Okemah.

Ruby Pauline Sandefur

Longtime area resident Ruby Pauline Sandefur, Seminole, died Tuesday at the age of 93.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Cooper Funeral Chapel in Tecumseh with Delbert Akin officiating. Burial will be in Tecumseh Cemetery.

She was born March 20, 1905, at Macomb, the daughter of Ed and Agnes (Troxel) Carr. She was reared west of Macomb and made her home in Tecumseh most of her life. She had lived in Seminole for 15 years.

She married Tom G. Sandefur in Tecumseh on Feb. 20, 1926, and was a homemaker. Mrs. Sandefur was a member of Tecumseh Freewill Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her husband in 1984; her parents; a daughter, Crystal Pearl Sandefur; a son, Kenneth Sandefur, and a brother, Raymond Sandefur.

Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Norman Boggs, Seminole; daughter-in-law, Mary Sandefur, Tecumseh; half sister, Peggy Plummer, California; half brother, Jerry Carr, Washington; sisters-in-law, Emma Carr, Enid; Alma Wise, Tecumseh; grandchildren, Leasa Boggs, Seminole; Linda Gary, Tulsa; Jane Higgins, Tecumseh; Sara Hasley, Norman; six great-grandchildren, and brother-in-law, Jim Sandefur, Tecumseh.

Gene Louis Goss

Former Shawnee resident Gene Louis Goss, 73, died Sunday at his home in Checotah.

Graveside service was Tuesday at Greenlawn Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Checotah.

Gene Louis Goss was born Aug. 11, 1925, in Bethany to Irvin and Ima Goss. He married Geraldine "Jerry" Bonard on March 4, 1978, in Shawnee. He had been a mechanic with Pottawatomie County and moved to Checotah 14 years ago.

He was a member of North Fork Baptist Church and Checotah American Legion Post.

He is survived by his wife, Jerry Goss, of the home; sons, Randy Goss, Checotah; Wayne Goss, Harrah; daughter, Janis Thompson, Georgetown, Texas; stepson, Jay Bonard, Mustang; stepdaughter, Terry Ann Moses, Port Orchard, Wash., 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

His parents, one brother and one sister preceded him in death.
