Aleene Eda Heck
Aleene Eda Heck, 75, Stroud, died Thursday.
She was born on Jan. 31, 1923, in Bristow. She married Harry L. Heck on July 5, 1940, in Chandler and was a retired telephone operator. She attended the Chapel of Faith Church, Stroud.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and four brothers and sisters.
She is survived by three sons, Larry Heck, Oklahoma City; Bobby Heck, New Jersey; and Allen Heck, Moore; and three sisters, Christian Sims, Ponca City; Odessa Flanagan, Stroud; and Dorothy Morris, Stroud; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and many friends.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Chapel of Faith Church, Stroud, with the Rev. Ray Price officiating. Burial will in Stroud Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Stroud.
Lamar C. Carter
Lamar C. Carter died Wednesday at his Shawnee home at the age of 90.
He was born Nov. 28, 1907, in Greenville, Tenn., to George Edward and Mary Elizabeth (Cox) Carter.
He moved to Coffeyville, Kan., in 1944 and had lived in Shawnee for three years. He married Jessie Ellen Baldwin in Wann, Okla., on Aug. 7, 1932.
Carter had farmed and worked in the oil field before joining a co-operative refinery which was a division of Farmland Industries. He retired on Nov. 28, 1972. He was a member of the Pipefitters Union.
Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Kenneth Van Dyne, Shawnee; brother and sister-in-law, Orville and Ann Carter, Owasso; grandchildren and their spouses, Tony Alan and Kim Van Dyne, Kimberly Renee and John Stephens, Kurt Alex and Bree Van Dyne, all of Shawnee; Loren Eugene Carter, Troy, Mich.; Larry Wayne Carter, Lonnie Ray Carter, both of Kansas City, Mo., and nine great-grandchildren.
His wife preceded him in death in 1993.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Graves Funeral Home in Coffeyville, Kan., with burial in Restlawn Cemetery, Coffeyville.
Eddie Wyatt
Eddie Wyatt, 44, Shawnee died Wednesday in a local nursing home. Services will be 10 a.m. today at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with burial in Fairview Cemetery. The Rev. Thomas Mitchell will officiate, assisted by the Rev. C.C. Atchley.
Wyatt was born March 1, 1954, in Shawnee, the son of Walter W. and Mary F. (Wilburn) Wyatt. He moved from Newalla to Shawnee in 1964 and was a member of Emmanuel Pentecostal Holiness Church.
He is survived by his mother, Mary F. Wyatt, Shawnee; brother and sister-in-law, James W. and Bobbi Wyatt, Shawnee; sister and brother-in-law, Jane E. and Gerold W. Vanderburg, Shawnee, and many other relatives.
His father preceded him in death.
Irene Laws
Irene "Jane" Laws, 86, Tecumseh died Wednesday in Shawnee.
She was born Jan. 23, 1912, in Shawnee to Fredrick Edward and Alethea Cora (Blain) Romberg. She was reared east of Shawnee and attended school at South Rock Creek District 32.
She married Albert E. Laws on Aug. 24, 1935, in Meeker and lived in Oklahoma City and Illinois before moving to Tecumseh in 1945.
She worked with Douglas Aircraft during World War II and worked at Girls Town for more than 25 years until her retirement. She was a member of Tecumseh First Presbyterian Church and was the first woman to be elder of the church.
Preceding her in death were her husband in 1982; her parents; a son, Albert Eugene Laws; three brothers, Fred, Bill and Vernon Romberg, and sister, Mable Romberg.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Dennis Henderson, Shawnee; stepson and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Rita Laws, Kansas City, Mo.; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and David Murphy, Oklahoma City; sister, Marie Romberg, Shawnee; seven grandchildren, Stephanie Henderson, Nicholas Henderson, Garry and Janet Laws, Jan Ross, Donna and John Pottier, David and Marie Townsend, John Townsend, six great-grandchildren and many other relatives.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Cooper Funeral Chapel, Tecumseh, with the Rev. Will Bentley officiating. Burial will be in Sunny Lane Cemetery, Midwest City.
Loreda Delaney
Loreda "Rita" Delaney of Lexington died Tuesday in Oklahoma City. She was 57.
She was born Dec. 21, 1940, in Tecumseh to Oscar Marx and Iva Marx Bowden. She was reared in Tecumseh and graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1959.
She married William Delaney in Tecumseh on May 30, 1959, and had lived in Lexington since then. She was a homemaker and a member of McKiddyville Friendly Mission.
Preceding her in death were her parents and her stepfather, Steve Bowden.
Survivors include her husband, William "Junior" Delaney, of the home; daughter, Sherry Delaney, Lexington; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Cecilio Martinez, Purcell; son, Billy Delaney, Moore; sons and daughters-in-law, Curtis and Brenda Delaney, Norman; Tommy and Lori Delaney, Moore; brother, Eddie Marx; sisters, Evelyn Graves, Coney Helton, and five grandchildren, Amanda, Tamara, Blake, Dewayne and Dustin.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Cooper Funeral Home, Tecumseh, with burial in Tecumseh Cemetery. The Rev. Uncas Stephens will officiate.
Jewell Dean Brown
Longtime Seminole resident Jewell Dean Brown of Ada died Thursday in a Norman hospital. She was 71.
She was born Feb. 16, 1927, in Electra, Texas, the daughter of Mary Hays and had lived most of her life in Seminole. She married Jasper Brown and was a homemaker.
Her parents and her husband preceded her in death.
Survivors include her close friend, Odell Bolin, Ada; son, Larry Brown, Wewoka; daughter, Patsy Ann Carter, Show Low, Ariz.; brothers, Herman McDonald, Borger, Texas; Truman McDonald, Weiser, Idaho; sister, Mae Cox, Wester, Idaho, five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel, Seminole, with burial at Maple Grove Cemetery.
Isaiah Christian Ray Burton
Isaiah Christian Ray Burton, the son of Jason and Rhianna Burton of Shawnee, was stillborn Wednesday in Shawnee.
Service will be 3 p.m. today at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Chapel, Tecumseh. Mike Lincoln will officiate.
Survivors include his grandparents, Ray and Teresa Burton, Shawnee; Vicki Burton, Norman; Darrell and Vicky Roberts, Oklahoma City; Billy and Debbie Spinks, Newalla, and great-grandparents, R.T. and Geneva Burton, Shawnee, and Jerry and Helen Evans, Norman.
Floyd Wilbur Harris
Longtime Seminole resident Floyd Wilbur Harris died Tuesday in a Seminole hospital at the age of 84.
He was born June 16, 1914, in Treat, Ark., the son of Henry Harris and Hattie Belle (Payne) Harris. He married Lillie Mae Sheperd on Sept. 18, 1937, in Pope, Ark. He was retired from the Seminole oil fields.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife; one son, O.D. Harris, two sisters and one brother.
He is survived by eight sons, Grady Harris, Forum, Ark.; Winston Harris, Larry Harris, Bobby Harris, Allen Harris, Phillip Harris, all of Seminole; Frank Harris, Phoenix, Ariz.; Darrell Harris, Dennison, Texas; four daughters, Esther Hopkins, Stroud; Fran Chambless, Killeen, Texas; Jeannie Melton, Globe, Ariz.; Winnie Stillwell, Seminole; three brothers, Albert Harris, Eufaula; George Harris, Columbia, La.; Fay Dee Harris, Woodward; two sisters, Anna Gunter, Gurtie Harris, both of Seminole, 25 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel in Seminole with the Rev. Orval Kendrick officiating. Burial will be in Little Cemetery.
Hazel Anderson Peek
Longtime area resident Hazel Anderson Peek of Shawnee died Tuesday in a local nursing home. She was 89.
She was born Dec. 8, 1908, in Macomb to William Oscar and Maude Anderson. The family moved to Shawnee in 1922 where she attended public schools. She married Dewey E. Peek in 1928.
She worked as a riveter at Douglas Aircraft Co. in Midwest City during World War II. She also worked several years as a cosmetologist before being employed by the City of Oklahoma City from which she retired in 1970. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1947; one brother, William Albert Anderson, and two sisters, Bertie Coleman and Eula Anderson.
Surviving are her sisters, Ethel Hamilton of Shawnee and Winnie Helm of Oklahoma City, and many other relatives.
Graveside service will be 2:30 p.m. Friday at Fairview Cemetery with William R. Anderson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.
