Rowena Elizabeth Landis

Rowena Elizabeth Landis, 85, died Friday in Oklahoma City.

She was born March 22, 1913, in Stilwell to Louis K. and Maude Whitaker. She attended schools in Stilwell and Oklahoma City. She retired as an executive secretary for Mobil Petroleum Co. in 1975. She was a member of Crown Heights Christian Church, Oklahoma City.

Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Jones, Shawnee; a son and daughter-in-law, Jon and Judy Landis, Edmond; sister, Maude Helms, Hobbs, N.M.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; five sisters; husband Howard E. Landis; grandson, Jeffrey N. Jones, Shawnee; and son-in-law Richard Jones, Shawnee.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Hahn-Cook/Street and Draper Chapel, Oklahoma City. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

Violet Lela Brock

Former Tecumseh resident Violet Lela Brock, 88, died Wednesday in a Ft. Smith, Ark., hospital.

She was born Aug. 11, 1910, in Tecumseh to Samuel and Florence Belle Branson. She married Thomas Jefferson Brock. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Church of God. She had lived in Spiro for the past six years.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1993.

She is survived by her daughter, Geneva Moore, Spiro; sisters, Vera Claxton, Ardmore, Almeta Foust, Denver, Colo., Thelma Tarbox, Norman, Betty Melot, Tecumseh, and Nova Brewer, Shawnee; two grandsons and granddaughters-in-law, Rick and Margaret Moore, Maumelle, Ark., and James and Christy Brock, Shawnee; three granddaughters and a grandson-in-law, Vicki and Walt Nolen, Spiro, Marsha Morris, Duncan, and Chanda Redding, Tecumseh; many great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services were 2 p.m. Saturday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Joe Faircloth officiating, assisted by the Rev. Kresten Norholm. Burial will be in Tecumseh Cemetery.

Edna M. Land

Former Asher resident Edna M. Land, 85, Coalgate, died Thursday.

She was born Sept. 8, 1912, in Asher to John W. Barnes and Vinie Mueller. She married Ralph Evert Land on April 4, 1948, in Ft. Smith, Ark., and worked with her husband at Land Meat Packing, Shawnee, until 1958. The Lands operated a motel in Kiowa from 1958 to 1978, then moved to Coalgate. She was affiliated with the Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband of the home; brother, Sonny Barnes, Guthrie; and three sisters, Helen Atkins, Oregon; Addie Anderson, Shawnee, and Karlita Brownfield, Ada.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Memorial Park Cemetery, Ada, with the Rev. Muriel Wilson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Ada.

Mary M. Ramsey

Mary M. Ramsey, 87, Prague, died Thursday in Oklahoma City.

She was born in Thomasville, Mo., on Sept. 4, 1910, to Irvin A. and Josie B. (Row) McDaniel. She married Otis E. Ramsey on July 16, 1940, in Chandler. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church, Prague.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Dec. 19, 1970; her parents; two brothers; and a sister.

Survivors include a stepson, Otis Ramsey, Seattle, Wash., and two grandsons, Rendon Ramsey, Pasadena, Calif., and Regan Ramsey, Anchorage, Alaska.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Tim Emmons officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.

Ivis Joan Sharber

Ivis Joan Sharber, 64, Konawa, died Saturday in Ada.

She was born March 26, 1934, in Norman to Geneva (Lester) and Dee Walker. She married Bob J. Sharber on Aug. 12, 1950, in Noble. She moved to Konawa in 1961. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Brian Kirk and Barbara Sharber, Macon, Ga., and Justin Kade and Kimberly Sharber, Konawa; five grandchildren; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Pickard Funeral Home Chapel, Konawa, with Richard Winters officiating. Burial will be in Dora Cemetery.

William Elms

William Elms, 93, Shawnee, died Friday at a local hospital.

He was born Dec. 27, 1904, in Lincoln, Ark., to William Oscar and Laura Yeager Elms. He married his wife Bevie Ola on Sept. 6, 1928. He was a farmer and a deacon and founder of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife; two sons and daughters-in-law, Harvey and June Elms, and Travis and Peggy Elms, all of Shawnee; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Floyd and Vernie Elms, Bakersfield, Calif., and Lonnie Elms, Shawnee; two sisters, Ruby Hall and Ruth Lively, both of Shawnee; five sisters-in-law; six grandchildren and three grandchildren-in-law; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Resthaven Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Leon Lutt and the Rev. W.F. Crow officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.

Janet Kay Jaggers

Janet Kay Jaggers, 50, died Friday at an Oklahoma City hospital.

She was born Nov. 16, 1947, in Oklahoma City to W.A. and Evelyn Brown Grandstaff. She worked for a trucking company and was affiliated with the Assembly of God Church.

She is survived by her son, Jurl Curtis Underwood, Eufaula; daughters Michelle Middleton, Little Rock, Ark., Tara O'Donnel, Carney, and Tina Tate, Agra; two brothers, Gary Grandstaff and Jimmy Grandstaff, Wellston; and 13 grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Assembly of God Church. Burial will be in Star Valley Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Chandler.

Mary Fredick Ficke

Mary Fredick Ficke, 99, died Saturday in an Edmond hospital. She was born Sept. 27, 1898, in St. Clemons, Ill., to Fred and Theresa Ricter Gessman.

She is survived by a son, Roy G. Ficke, Zion, Ill.; two daughters, Maribell Cole, Chandler, and Viola McCarthy, Grand Pass, Ore.; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Isaac Emmett Ficke, three brothers, three sisters, and a son, Emmett Joe Ficke.

A prayer vigil will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Meeker. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the same location, with the Rev. Adrain Vorderlandwehr, O.S.B., officiating. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery, Chandler. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Chandler.

Arthur Lee Tyarks

Arthur Lee Tyarks, 60, died Thursday in an Oklahoma City hospital.

He was born July 25, 1938, in Sayre to Henry Willie and Jewel Brown Tyarks. He lived in Yuma, Ariz., for many years, working as a heavy equipment operator.

Survivors include three sons, Arthur Lee Jr., Phoenix, Ariz.; Paul Henry, Yuma, Ariz.; and Thomas Lee, Beebranch, Ark.; daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Gary Griggs, Shawnee; stepdaughters Roxanne Kirby, Beebranch, Ark., and Deborah Nash, Yuma, Ariz.; two grandsons; siblings Freddie Tyarks, Sayre; Minnie Louise Jones, Elk City; Pauline David Rose, Rattan; and Gladys McFarland, Terra Bella, Calif.; a niece; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.

Services were held Saturday at the Williamson Funeral Chapel, Wetumka. Graveside rites will be 1 p.m. Monday at Sayre-Doxey Cemetery.

Ralph Frank McCraw

Ralph Frank McCraw, 80, Tecumseh, died Saturday at his home.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Robert Rider and the Rev. Max McKee officiating. Burial will be in Mars Hill Cemetery. Other arrangements are pending and will be announced.

Bill Neil Goodman

Bill Neil Goodman, 69, Shawnee, died Friday at his home, under Hospice care.

Services will be held at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel at 2 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Chuck Utsler officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.

He was born April 9, 1929, in Tulsa to Walter and Agnes Goodman. He attended Pine Hill Elementary and Olive High School in Bristow, and he married Mallo Taylor on June 20, 1954, in Earlsboro.

He served in the U.S. Navy for four years. He lived in Shawnee from 1954 to 1959 and in Albuquerque, N.M., from 1959 to 1974, when he moved back to Shawnee.

He was a machinist at Central Plastics, and he retired in April 1991. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Robert A. and Kim Goodman, Shawnee; daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn S. and Larry Cash, Meeker; four grandchildren; his mother, Agnes D. Goodman, Sapulpa; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard G. and Elvis Goodman and Floyd Keith and Mary Goodman, all of Sapulpa; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Dot and Bill Stith, Tecumseh.

He was preceded in death by his father, brother Harold D. Goodman, and sister Pearl Elouise Goodman.
