Brenda Kay McBroom

Brenda K. McBroom, Shawnee, died Saturday in Shawnee. She was 42.

Mrs. McBroom was born on Feb. 25, 1957, in Chandler to Guy Edward and Thelma Beatrice (Jones) Ragsdale.

She grew up in Chandler and had lived in Tulsa.

She married Larry McBroom in Shawnee and was a homemaker.

Mrs. McBroom was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Thelma Ragsdale.

Survivors include her husband, Larry McBroom of the home; two daughters and a son-in-law, Stacy and Zechariah Maher, Shawnee, and Rebecca Vann of the home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Richard and Regina Vann, Shawnee, and Jeremy Vann of the home; four grandchildren, Michael Lee Maher, Alice Elizabeth Sisson, Jessica Ranee Vann and Blake Anthony Maher; four brothers, Charles Ragsdale, Leonard Ragsdale and Bill Ragsdale, all of Tulsa, and Guy Ragsdale Jr., Chandler; four sisters, Donna Harris, Tulsa, Elnoria Denison, Broken Arrow, Phyllis Hill, Shawnee, and Glenda Leineman, Bella Vista, Ark.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler with the Rev. Doyle Seeley of the Chandler Assembly of God officiating.

Services are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home in Tecumseh.

Mollie Eva Lee

Mollie Eva Lee died Saturday in an Okemah nursing home. She was 92.

Mrs. Lee was born Dec. 9, 1906, in Clinton County, Ky., the daughter of Charlie and Lou Ella (Cox) Witham.

She married Charles LeRoy Lee on Nov. 19, 1925, in Okemah.

Mrs. Lee was a homemaker and lived in the Okemah area most of her life.

She was a member of the Holiness faith.

Mrs. Lee was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lee; her parents, Charlie and Lou Ella Witham; and one sister, Mary Louis Lee.

Survivors include one son, Charles J. Lee, Shawnee; a daughter, Corina Lou Lee-Brown, Okemah; a sister, Kathleen Cruce, Okemah; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held 2 p.m. today at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Carl Clay and the Rev. Betty Wideman officiating.

Burial will be held in Highland Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Okemah.

Mary Alice Gunn

Shawnee resident Mary Alice Gunn died Thursday in Shawnee. She was 76.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. David Clewell officiating. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery, Denver, Colo..

Mrs. Gunn was born Nov. 15, 1921, in Shawnee to James Smith and Lola (Hunter) Gardner. She married Harold Gunn on June 9, 1939, in Shawnee.

Mrs. Gunn had been a receptionist for Federal Savings and Loan Co., Denver, and was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Harold Gunn, Shawnee; daughter, Beverly Anne Baker, Denver, Colo.; sister, Nina Hobbs, Shawnee; three grandchildren and three great-granchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Larry; and her sister, Marie Wooten.

Georgia Vickers Howell

Shawnee resident Georgia Vickers Howell died Tuesday in a local nursing home. She was 81.

Mrs. Howell was born July 19, 1917, in Stamps, Ark., to James William Vickers and Cora Elizabeth McCowen Vickers. She married Everette A. Howell in St. Louis, Mo., on Sept. 28, 1946.

Mrs. Howell graduated from Shawnee High School in 1935. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her sister, Una Lansden, Texarkana, Texas; nieces, Carolyn Dixson and Anne Sanchez, both of Shawnee; and many other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, in 1971, and three sisters and four brothers.

A private family memorial service will be held.

Wendell C. Gambill

Asher resident Wendell C. Gambill died Saturday in Shawnee. He was 82.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ellis Risenhoover officiating. Burial will be at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home, Tecumseh.

Gambill was born Sept. 25, 1915, in Carmen, Okla., to Harry and Elva (Smith) Gambill. He married Bernice Tatum on Oct. 24, 1937, in Tuttle.

Gambill served in the Army Air Force during World War II. He had been a farmer and rancher in St. Louis since 1961.

He was a member of the Cattleman's Association and the Quarter Horse Association. He was president of the St. Louis Water Board and was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice Gambill, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Sharen and John Polkinghorne, Edmond; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Ava Gambill, Tecumseh; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Clifford, Bill, Eldon and Vincent Gambill.

Evelyn Jeanette Perkins Wilson Culp

Maud resident Evelyn Jeanette "Jean" Perkins Wilson Culp died Friday in Oklahoma City. She was 57.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Assembly of God Church, Maud, with the Rev. Tim Martin officiating. Burial will be at Cummings Cemetery, Maud, under the direction of Knight Funeral Home, Maud.

She was born in Wanette to Otha V. Perkins Sr. and Nellie Lucille (Gallemore) Perkins. She married Frank Junior Culp on June 22, 1978, in Ada.

She was a nurse's aide at the Sunset Estates of Maud until retiring in 1988. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church, Maud.

Survivors include her father, Otha V. Perkins Sr., Maud; son, David Keith Wilson, Quinlan, Texas; daughter, Jeannie Carol Norton, Shawnee; stepdaughter, Beverly Burns, Ada; brothers, Jimmie Glenn Perkins, Bethany; Otha V. "Cookie" Perkins Jr., McLoud; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Nellie Perkins, in June of 1997; her husband, Frank J. Culp, June 19, 1985; her son, Kevin Wilson, July 21, 1995.

Edith B. Burns

Shawnee resident Edith B. Burns died Wednesday in Oklahoma City. She was 95.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Immanuel Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff Moore officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Mrs. Burns was born July 17, 1903, in Whitewright, Texas, to Robert Manning and Ida Myrtle (Strawn) Hurd. She married Paul Burns on Oct. 2, 1920, in Oklahoma City.

Mrs. Burns graduated from Shawnee High School and was a homemaker. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and The Eastern Star. She was past worthy matron of The Eastern Star.

Survivors include her sons, Edward P. Burns and Roger Burns, both of Oklahoma City; daughter, Zalez Jurgutis, Olympia, Wash.; brother, Bob Hurd, McAlester; sisters, Irene Macky, Fremont, Calif.; Lorene Warren, Richmond, Calif.; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and many other relatives.

Arkie Vivian (Taber) Cornett

McLoud resident Arkie Vivian (Taber) Cornett died Saturday in Moore. She was 79.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Griff Henderson officiating. Burial will be at Kendrick Cemetery, five miles north of Davenport.

Mrs. Cornett was born June 23, 1919, in Ozark County, Mo., to William and Emma (Chrisp) Taber. She married Crawford M. Cornett on Nov. 21, 1946 in Davenport.

Mrs. Cornett attended Davenport schools and was a homemaker. She was of the Holiness faith.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Richard and Judy Suggs, Plentywood, Mont.; Joe and Brenda Steffens, Moore; Carl and Joy Cornett, Shawnee; Darrel and Mary Cornett, Norman; Roy Cornett, Taft, Okla.; Bob and Anita (Ann) McCormick, McLoud; Crawford Cornett Jr., Moore; 20 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; brother, Fray Taber, Henrietta; sister, Stella Horner, Kingfisher; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; brothers, Charles and Bill Taber; sister, Margaret Struddle; son, Billy Suggs; grandson, Raymond Steffens.
