Mildred G. Hollandsworth

Mildred G. Hollandsworth of Del City died Wednesday. She was 80.

She was born Feb. 28, 1919, in Newalla to Robert and Ollie (Wilkerson) Sparks. She moved to Del City in 1949. She worked for more than 20 years at Sears, where she was a credit investigator. She was an active member of Del City First Church of the Nazarene.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Monroe, in 1991; a brother Jesse, and sister Betty Joe Mills.

Surviving are two daughters, Gail Johnson and husband, Robert, of Blanchard; Jane Shipley and Warren Stokes of Midwest City; two grandchildren, Douglas and Justin; two great-grandchildren, Chase and Hayden; brother Robert Sparks, of Nicoma Park; other relatives and friends.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Bill Eisenhour Southeast Chapel with burial at Sunny Lane Cemetery, under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home.

Rose Owen

Rose Owen died Thursday in Oklahoma City. She was 76.

She was born May 23, 1923, in Texas. She was the daughter of S.M. and Stella (Clepper) Moore.

She married Vester Thomas Owen Oct. 2, 1946. He preceded her in death Dec. 7, 1972.

Mrs. Owen lived in Moore and was a former resident of Prague. She was a homemaker and a Methodist.

Mrs. Owen also was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her son, Danny Owen, Oklahoma City; and daughter and son-in-law, D.J. and Jerry Wright, Chickasha.

Graveside services were 1 p.m. Friday at the Prague Cemetery with the Rev. Tim Emmons officiating under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Prague.

Zelphia M. Harper

Shawnee resident Zelphia M. Harper died Wednesday at her home. She was 65.

She was born Feb. 25, 1934, in Maud to James A. and Cholie (Robertson) Stalnaker.

She married Rufe Ray Harper June 9, 1972, in Shawnee.

Mrs. Harper was a member of the Downtown Pentecostal Holiness Church. She lived in and around Pottawatomie County all her life.

Survivors include her sisters, Argie Davis, Shawnee, and Bertha Evans, California; and brothers, Shelby Stalnaker, Shawnee, and J.C. Stalnaker, North Dakota.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Services will be noon today at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ron Baldrige officiating. Burial will be in Neal Cemetery.

Dorothy F. Hill

Harrah resident Dorothy F. Hill died Thursday at Midwest Regional Hospital. She was 72.

She was born April 17, 1927, in Rattan to A.P. and Mary Freeman.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, David; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry W. and Jane Hill, Newalla; daughter, Paula G. Hill, Jacksonville, Fla.; brother, Phillip Freeman, Mesquite, Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Homer McDonald, Manteca, Calif.; daughter-in-law, Sheriee Hill; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Terry G. Hill, four brothers and three sisters.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Asa Smith Funeral Chapel, Harrah. Burial will be at Memory Lane Cemetery, Harrah.

Bennie Alden Miller

Byars resident Bennie Alden Miller, 82, died Thursday in Sulphur. He was born April 30, 1917, in Fort Townson to Mary and John Miller.

Miller married Sylvia Viola (Henderson) Miller Oct. 20, 1942, in St. Louis, Okla.

He was a farmer and worked in the oil field as well. He lived most of his life in the Maud area, and he lived in Byars for the past 16 years.

He also was a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Viola Miller, Byars; sons, Bennie Alden Miller Jr., Seattle, Wash., John William "Chuck" Miller, Oklahoma City, and Frederich M. Miller, Bedford, Texas; six grandchildren, Scott Miller, Fred Miller, Joseph Miller, Michelle Wilder, James Miller and Jenny Miller; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Pickard Funeral Home Chapel, Stratford, with the Rev. Ivan G. Casteel officiating. Burial will be at Byars Cemetery under the direction of Pickard Funeral Home, Stratford.

Wanda (Donnell) Dibler

Wanda (Donnell) Dibler died Thursday. She was 67.

She was born March 25, 1932, near Lexington to Fern and Richard Donnell.

She married William Dibler in April 1953. The were married for 46 years.

When she was 4, Mrs. Dibler's family moved to Wheatland. She completed high school at Mustang and attended Blackwood Business School. She worked for many years in the insurance field. In 1967, she went to work for the city of Oklahoma City until her retirement in 1987.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother.

Survivors include her husband, Bill, of the home, and her brother, Richard Donnell, Ponca City.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at South Colonial Chapel. Burial will be at Resthaven Memory Gardens under the direction of Vondel L. Smith and Son Mortuaries, Oklahoma City.

Helen Dunavan

Tecumseh resident Helen Dunavan died Tuesday at a Tecumseh nursing home. She was 89.

Mrs. Dunavan was born March 1, 1910, in Earlsboro to Lee Jones and Edith Mae (Alfrey) Jones.

She married Tom Dunavan June 10, 1928, in Shawnee.

She was a graduate of Earlsboro High School. She worked in food service with Biscuit Hill Restaurant for 11 years. Previously, she worked with the Broadway Cafeteria for a number of years. She and her husband also operated a service station in Earlsboro for several years.

Mrs. Dunavan was a member of Fairview Baptist Church.

Survivors include her grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Arnold and Winona Dunavan, Amarillo, Texas; great-grandson and great-granddaughter-in-law, Clint and Carmon Dunavan, California; great-granddaughter and great-grandson-in-law, Crystal and Daryle Dothard, Van Nuys, Calif.; great-great-grandson, Braxton G. Dothard, Van Nuys Calif.; daughter-in-law, Effie Dunavan Farris, Shawnee; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom; son, Jack Dunavan; her parents; and one sister, Willie Dunavan.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Delbert Akin officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery.

Nicholas Andrew Kroencke

Former Shawnee resident Nicholas "Nick" Andrew Kroencke, 20, died July 6 on the Georgia Tech campus in Atlanta, Ga.

He was born Aug. 4, 1978, in Peoria, Ill., to Brad and Trish Kroencke.

He graduated from high school in Coral Springs, Fla. He was a junior majoring in electrical engineering at Georgia Tech in Atlanta.

He was a member of St. Benedict Church of Shawnee. He also was a member of Chi Phi Fraternity, the Reck Club and Golden Key National Honor Society. He was on the dean's list.

He is survived by his parents, Brad and Trish Kroencke, Edmond; sister, Lisa Kroencke, Edmond; grandparents, Lester and Dorothy Turner, Peoria, Ill., and Ken and Carlene Kroencke, Quincy, Ill.

Funeral mass took place July 10 at St. Philomena's Catholic Church, Peoria, Ill. Burial was in Swan Lake Memorial Garden, Peoria, Ill.

Memorials may be made to a scholarship fund in Kroencke's name at the Omega Chapter of Chi Phi Fraternity, c/o Chi Phi Fraternity House, 720 Fowler Street, Atlanta, Ga. 30313.
