Everette Stewart

Prague resident Everette Stewart, 85, died Wednesday at his home. He was born June 1, 1914, in Dardanelle, Ark. He was the son of Z.V. and Dora (Blair) Stewart.

He married Bonnie Carter June 15, 1946, in Van Buren, Ark. She preceded him in death Sept. 29, 1996.

He also was preceded in death by his parents and one son, John T. Stewart.

Stewart was a retired machinist and farmer. He was member of the Nazarene Church. He lived in Oklahoma City and Delaware, Ark., before moving to Prague in 1943.

Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Gene and Marie Stewart, Prague, E.H. and Wanda Stewart, Shawnee, Roy and Agnes Stewart, Stroud, and Leslie Jo Ann Stewart, Prague; daughter and son-in-law, Helen and John Reed, Ponca City; daughter-in-law, Jean Stewart, Norman; brother, Lonnie Stewart, Dardanelle, Ark.; sisters, Ella Shoemaker, Alexandria, La., and Nellie Calans, Jones; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel, Prague, with the Rev. Kenneth Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Prague Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Prague.

Carl James Huffman

Carl James Huffman died Wednesday in Oklahoma City. He was 64.

Huffman was born Sept. 19, 1934, in Tryon to Orval W. and Viola (Hicks) Huffman. He married Peggy Sue Wakley on May 3, 1958.

He worked as a mechanical engineer at Tinker Air Force Base for many years until he retired. He had served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Chandler.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Sue Huffman, of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Eric and Kerri Huffman and Greg and Kim Huffman, all of Chandler; daughters and sons-in-law, Leah and Dirk Bostey, Penrose, Colo.; Carla and Neal Lane, Chandler; brother, Ronald Huffman, Muskogee; 16 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church of Chandler with the Rev. Rick Blackwell officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Park Cemetery, Chandler, under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Chandler.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Maxine Thompson

Maxine Thompson, 70, of Choctaw died Tuesday at her home.

She was born Jan. 28, 1929, to Houston and Anna Patrick in Bristow.

She is survived by her husband John; three daughters, Teresa Lancaster of Harrah; LeeAnna Goodwin of Harrah, and Janet Durham of North Carolina; one brother, Eddie Patrick of Texas; one sister, Virginia Thompson of Texas; eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

A Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Asa Smith Funeral Chapel in Harrah.

Ima Jean Chambers

Longtime Earlsboro resident Ima Jean Chambers died Tuesday at a local hospital. She was 78.

Mrs. Chambers was born Feb. 2, 1921, in Ada to Ernest and Allie (Cooper) Bristow. She married E.W. Chambers on Oct. 13, 1937, in Earlsboro.

She graduated from Harjo High School and retired from the U.S. Postal Service. She was treasurer of the First Baptist Church in Earlsboro for 16 years. She was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, E.W. Chambers; sons and daughters-in-law, Willard Ronald and Betty Chambers, Cabot, Ark.; Claude Earl and Lucille Chambers, Earlsboro; grandchildren, David Alan Chambers, Denison, Texas; Karen Sue Chambers, Conway, Ark.; Eric Mark Chambers and Traci Ann Larkins, both of Cabot, Ark.; Carl Eugene Chambers, Hubert, N.C.; Curtis Edward Chambers, Fort Campbell, Ky.; Lucinda Ann Pruegert and Craig Elisha Chambers, both of Oklahoma City; great-grandchildren, Tyler Lee Chambers, Denison, Texas; Bradey Camille Chambers, Conway, Ark.; Cody Evan Chambers and Christopher Edward Chambers, both of Hubert, N.C.; brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Danny Bristow, Odessa, Texas; Earl and Carolyn Bristow, Carolton, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Inez.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Keith Henley and the Rev. Richard Stillwell officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.

W.A. Deal

Tecumseh resident W.A. "Bill" Deal died Monday in Tecumseh. He was 82.

Deal was born April 13, 1917, in McLoud to W.J. and Anna (Carpenter) Deal.

He married Overa Haley July 29, 1955, in Tulsa. She preceded him in death on July 21, 1994.

He was raised in the Jacktown and Meeker areas. Following his marriage, he and his wife lived in Pauls Valley for several years, Louisiana for a few years and Bolivia, South America, for two years. He then moved to the Oklahoma City area.

He worked for Big Chief Drilling Co. in Oklahoma City. He retired from Scrivner Foods after many years of electrical service.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater with the 14th Coast Artillery Battalion.

Deal was a member of the American Legion Hill-Huett Post No. 260 of Tecumseh, the VFW, the NRA and the Teamsters Union No. 886. He was the 1998 Tecumseh Frontiersman and active in the Tecumseh Senior Citizen's Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents and eight sisters and brothers.

Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Goldie and Jim Veitch, Meeker, Colo., and Loretta and Monty Hale, Shawnee; sons and daughter-in-law, Jerry W. Deal, Pueblo, Colo., and Sam and Cleta Deal, Paden; sister, Goldie "Top" Zerfing, Cottonwood, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous family and friends.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday in New Hope Cemetery, Meeker, under the direction of Cooper Funeral Chapel.

Memorials may be made to the Bill Deal Memorial Fund, care of First United Bank in Tecumseh.

Pete Landrum

McLoud resident Pete Landrum died Saturday at his home. He was 73.

He was born Feb. 15, 1926, in Marlow to Martin and Bessie Landrum.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia; daughters, Beverly Phillips, Oklahoma City, Donna Gehrer, Kansas, Beth Christian, McLoud, and Zona Kelley, Oklahoma City; son, Mark Pruitt, McLoud; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

A memorial service took place Monday at Hillside Baptist Church in McLoud.

Elsie Pauline Ross

Dale resident Elsie Pauline Ross died Tuesday at her home. She was 69.

Mrs. Ross was born Nov. 14, 1929, in Macomb to William E. and Oma Mae (Minyard) Ritchie.

She married Charles Robert Ross Aug. 12, 1949.

She was a member of the Church of the Living God.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Robert Ross, of the home; son, Robert DeWayne Ross, Oklahoma City; grandsons, Jonathan Edward Ross, of the home, and DeWayne Christopher Ross, Shawnee; great-son, Tyler Gage Ross, Shawnee; and brother, Leroy Ritchie, Dallas, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, William Harvey Ritchie in 1954 and Isom Hughey Ritchie in 1982; and one daughter, Lisa Anne Ross in 1968.

Graveside services took place at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Dale Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Ingram officiating under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Marguerite Knisley

Shawnee resident Marguerite "Maggie" Knisley died Tuesday in a local nursing home. She was 86.

She was born Sept. 8, 1912, in Monticello, Ill., to Reemt and Annie Lubbers.

She married Seymore Knisley March 5, 1932. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Knisley was a homemaker.

Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Devine; grandson, Paul Devine; granddaughter and her spouse, Cheri and Jeff Richards; and great-grandson, Jordan Richards.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Trigg-Calvert Funeral Home, Deland, Ill., with Dwight Gregory officiating. Burial will be in Deland, Ill., Cemetery. Local arrangments are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
