Helen Marie Sullivan

Helen Marie Sullivan, 69, Maud, died Tuesday in an Oklahoma City hospital.

She was born in Asher on Feb. 11, 1929, to Hughey Forest and Maudie Essie (Ward) McMillin.

She owned and operated Frog and Helen's Cafe in St. Louis for 23 years and was the assistant city clerk in Maud for six years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, St. Louis and the Friendship Rebekah Lodge, Maud, where she served many times as noble grand and held other offices.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Nina Williams.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Rusty and Sherry Sullivan, Norman; daughters and sons-in-law Gail McGee, Shawnee; Pam and Gary Smith, St. Louis; and Susie and Gary Kilcrease, Velma; sisters and brothers-in-law Jean and Glen Ballengee, Taft, Calif., and Sue and Joe Hankins, Bakersfield, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist church, St. Louis, with the Rev. Glen Peck officiating. Burial will be in Cummings Cemetery, Maud. Arrangements are under the direction of Knight Funeral Home, Maud.

Andrew Lee Nease

Andrew Lee "Buddy" Nease, 79, Shawnee, died Tuesday in McLoud.

He was born Feb. 12, 1919, in Stratford to Arch and Janey (Glance) Nease. He married Laverne Lowden. He was a retired machinist for Eaton Corporation and a master Mason.

He is survived by his wife, of the home; sons and daughters-in-law Stanley and Ann Nease and Ronald and Karen Nease, all of Shawnee; daughter and son-in-law Linda and Richard Suttle, Norman; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard Nease and Ladue Nease; and three sisters, Geneva Deering, Mary Armstrong, and Beatrice Rejino.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Tecumseh Cemetery, with Bill Matthews, assisted by Phil Thompson, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of Oklahoma, 1211 N. Shartel, Suite 1100, Oklahoma city, 73103.

Nell Eckert

Former Shawnee resident Nell Eckert, 93, died Monday in a Florida nursing home.

She was born Nov. 11, 1904, in Hardy, Ark. She moved to Pensacola, Fla., 14 years ago. She was a member of the Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy J. Eckert.

She is survived by her daughter, Donna K. Garman, Pensacola; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church, with Dr. Rush Otey officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Resthaven Memorial Park, with the Rev. Karen Fowler-Lindemulder officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Peace or to the Council on Aging in Pensacola, Fla.

Jewell Martin

Lifelong Shawnee resident Jewell Martin died Friday at her home. She was 88.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Mack Roark officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery.

She was born April 11, 1910, in Stigler, the daughter of Charles T. and Flourney (Gulley) Oliver. She married Joe Martin in Shawnee on Aug. 5, 1939. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Phoebe Sunday school class. She taught Sunday school for many years and was involved many church and social activities.

Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Carroll Hall, Austin, Texas; Judy Jo Martin and Larry Moitozo, Los Gatos, Calif.; grandchildren, Michael Hall, Tacoma, Wash.; Christie Hall, Atlanta, Ga.; Syambra Moitozo, Los Gatos, Calif., and many other relatives.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, three brothers and two sisters.

Marie Williams Bricker Thompson

Former Tecumseh and Newalla resident Marie (Williams) Bricker Thompson died June 22 in an automobile accident. She was 83.

Services were Wednesday at Floral Haven Chapel in Broken Arrow with burial in Floral Haven Cemetery. The Rev. Wade A. Booth officiated.

She was born Jan. 23, 1915, in Stroud and attended school at Black near Tecumseh and graduated from Wewoka High School. She married Mont Bricker in 1932 at Sapulpa and they had three children, Mont Jr., Vivian and Beverly.

She married Tommy Thompson in Tulsa in 1942.

Preceding her in death were both husbands, her parents, a son, a daughter and a brother.

Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Don Noble; brothers, Don Williams, Broken Arrow; Orvil Williams, La Habra, Calif.; sisters, Pauline Means, Gin Williams, McLoud; Kathryn Crouch, Martha French, Tecumseh; Wanda Pitman Williston; Ruth Garver, El Cajon, Calif.; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many other relatives.

Michael Earnest Collins

Lifelong Seminole resident Michael Earnest Collins died Sunday in an Edmond hospital. He was 46.

He was born Aug. 25, 1951, in Seminole to Lloyd and Willie Roberta (Guthrie) Collins. He married Melodie Harmon in Seminole in 1982 and was a warehouse supervisor for Canadian Valley in Seminole. He was a member of Elks Lodge 651 in Shawnee.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Surviving are his wife, Melodie Collins, of the home; stepson, Todd Goss, Seminole; sisters, Phyllis Cole, Searcy, Ark.; Linda Crabtree, Seminole, and granddaughter, Stevie Marie Sparks.

Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Swearingen Funeral Chapel, Seminole, with the Rev. Carl Whitfield officiating.

Robert Lee Stone

Robert Lee "Bob" Stone died Saturday at his Shawnee home. He was 52.

He was born May 4, 1946, in Oak Hill, W. Va., to James and Louise Stone. He was raised in Cleveland, Ohio, and Mesa, Ariz., and had served in law enforcement in St. Louis, Mo., and with the Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Department. He was a security guard for Mobil Chemical.

He married Geri Kissell on Jan. 8, 1965, in Tempe, Ariz., and had lived in Shawnee for 22 years.

He is survived by his wife, Geri Stone, of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Betty Ann Stone, Meeker; James and Laura Stone, Shawnee; Randee and Allie Stone, Dallas, Texas; three grandchildren, Skylar Stone, Ashton Stone, Braydon Lee Stone; brothers, Dave Stone, Oklahoma City; Richard Stone, Shawnee, and sister, Phyllis Abbott, West Virginia.

His parents and one brother, Jimmie Stone, preceded him in death.

Memorial service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Craig officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Micco James Coody

Micco James Coody of Seminole died Saturday in an Ada hospital. He was 17.

He was born March 9, 1981, in Ada to Kenneth D. and Georgia Faye (Kaney) Coody. He had lived in Seminole all his life and was affiliated with the Full Gospel Church.

Surviving are his parents, Kenneth and Faye Coody, of the home; special friend and son, Jennifer Lasley and Christian; grandmother, Lula Kaney, Maud; aunts and uncles, Elmina Felson, Rosanna Coody, Jessica Burden, Leonard Kaney, James Kaney Jr., Robert Coody, Tim Harjo and Willea Harjo; brother, Kyle Coody, Seminole; sisters, Wenayv and Lesley Fixico, both of Earlsboro, and many other relatives.

Services will be Wednesday night at Swearingen Funeral Chapel, Seminole, and at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Chapel with the Rev. Arthur Carpitcher officiating. Burial will be at the Harjo family cemeteryat Cromwell.

John Charles Dudley

Longtime Cushing area resident John Charles Dudley died Saturday at the age of 49.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at Park Place Baptist Church, Cushing, with the Rev. Brad Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow at Euchee Valley Memorial Park with military rites by the Cushing VFW Post 1118. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis Funeral Home, Cushing.

John Charles Dudley was born Nov. 12, 1948, in El Dorado, Kan., to Charles Leonard and Norma Martin Dudley. He was reared and educated in Valley Center, Kan., until the family moved to Cushing where he graduated from Cushing High School in 1966.

He married Rita Goodman on June 3, 1982, in Miami, Okla., and was employed with Mills Construction of Cushing. He was a member of Cushing Takedown Club, Cushing VFW Post 1118 and Park Place Baptist Church, Cushing.

Survivors include his parents, Charles and Norma Dudley; wife, Rita Dudley; son, John Michael Dudley; daughter, Karin Michele Dudley; grandson, Coleton Tyler Dudley; sister, Karen Dudley, all of Cushing; father-in-law, Elvin Goodman; brothers-in-law, Jerry Goodman, Mike Goodman, all of Chandler, and many other relatives.

Willie Mack Anderson

Willie Mack Anderson died Friday in a Shawnee care center at the age of 94.

He was born Sept. 15, 1903, in Rutherford County, North Carolina, to Forest Anderson and Alice (Michaels) Anderson. The family moved to Oklahoma when he was a small boy. He married Rosa Lee Miller on Sept. 13, 1939, and they reared nine of 11 children after the death of her sister, Ollie Winrow. He was a hunter and farmer and fulfilled the African tradition of being family "griot," the one who passes family history to the next generations.

His wife preceded him in death in 1993.

Surviving are two brothers, Mildridge "Andy" Anderson, Robert W. Anderson; sister, Ruth Anderson Russell, and many other relatives.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at CME Church in Earlsboro with burial at Earlsboro Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home, Seminole.
