Kathleen Strouse

Longtime Shawnee resident Kathleen Strouse died Wednesday in an Oklahoma City hospital. She was 75.

She was born April 4, 1923, in West Ham, England, the daughter of Charles Albert and Kathleen Cork Noseda. She was educated in London, England, and married George J. Strouse in 1945 in Shawnee. She had lived in Shawnee for more than 50 years.

Mrs. Strouse was a health care worker at Colonial Estates for 17 years and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her husband, George J. Strouse, in 1990 and her parents.

Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, George Michael and Millie Strouse, Shawnee; Robert Jack Strouse, Oklahoma City; David Charles and Teresa Strouse, Broomfield, Colo.; sister and brother-in-law, Win and Victor Brock, London, England; brother, George Noseda, London; sister-in-law, Donna Stubblefield, Oklahoma City; grandchildren, Joshua Strouse, Broomfield, Colo.; Aaron Strouse, Jennifer Anderson, Lori Gay and Bruce Tade, Jennifer Kay and Jason King, all of Shawnee; Kimberly Gayle and Karl FanFan, Surfside, S.C.; Stacy and James Adams, Pink; Bethany and Stephen Perry, Ada, eight great-grandchildren and many other relatives.

Service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Resthaven Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bill Matthews and the Rev. Phil Thompson officiating. Private burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Frederick Daniel Frey

Prague resident Frederick Daniel Frey died Wednesday in Oklahoma City at the age of 77.

He was born Oct. 3, 1920, in Pawhuska, the son of Daniel Davis and Cassandra Amanda (Wrenchey) Frey. He was a retired truck driver and had lived in Prague for 14 years.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and married Maxine Cole in Sudan, Kan., on May 5, 1944.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John Frey and Jess Frey, and a grandson, Johnnie Alan Bond Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Maxine Frey, of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Donna Frey, Prague; daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Neal Puckett, Golden, Mo.; Cassie and John Putney, Blanchard; Maxine and Johnnie Bond, Donna Gile, all of Prague; brothers, Jim O. Frey, Washington; Joseph L. Frey, Oklahoma City; Leonard Frey, Gordon Frey, both of Pawhuska; George Frey, Montana; sisters, Dorthy Knarr, Deloris Neese, both of Washington, 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m. today at Paden Cemetery with the Rev. Starland Davis officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Prague.

Marie Lane

Longtime McLoud resident Marie Lane died Wednesday in Oklahoma City. She was 71.

She was born Jan. 31, 1927, in Seminole County to Claude and Ada Richards. She was raised and attended school in the Bethel area.

She married Teddy Lane on March 17, 1947, in Shawnee and was a member of the Church of God Seventh Day.

Survivors include her husband, Teddy Lane, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Gene Milliser, Cabot, Ark.; grandson and his spouse, Chris and Michelle Brown, McLoud; two great-grandsons; five brothers and sisters and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one great-grandson.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with Steve Kurtright and Ernie Riner officiating. Burial will be at Dale Cemetery.

Irene Goodwin

Irene Goodwin died Tuesday in Chandler at the age of 70.

She was born in Lorton, Va., on Jan. 29, 1928, the daughter of John H. and Edith (Carter) Morrison. She married Wendle Goodwin on Dec. 22, 1946, in Virginia.

She had worked in computer chip construction and was a member of the Church of Christ in Chandler and Wellston.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, three brothers and three sisters.

Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Dale and Margie Goodwin, Patrick and Kathy Goodwin, all of Daytona Beach, Fla.; daughters and sons-in-law, Colleen and Joe Wingate, Wellston; Kathy Taylor, Warsaw, Va.; Virginia and George Wingate, Daytona Beach, Fla.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl and Helen Morrison, Sierra Vista, Ariz.; Lindsey and Jean Morrison, Virginia; sister, Edith Watkins, Roanoke, Va.; 14 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many other relatives.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Wellston Cemetery with Jerry Medders officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Chandler.

Amada Juanita Crook

Amada Juanita Crook died Thursday in Stroud at the age of 77.

She was born in Vian on Nov. 28, 1920, the daughter of Marian and Ada Richardson Tyler. She married Ulysses James Crook in Vian on April 23, 1940, and was a homemaker.

She moved from California to Stroud in 1976 and was a member of Freewill Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Ulysses, in 1984, her parents, one son, six brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by her son, Kenneth Crook, Mentor, Ohio; daughter, Patsy Bigpond, Stroud, nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Stroud Cemetery with the Rev. Richard Crook officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Stroud.

Tiffini Denise Whorton

Tiffini Denise Whorton of Tecumseh died Monday in Nicoma Park at the age of 16.

Services will be 1 p.m. today at Highland Church of Christ in Tecumseh with burial at 3 p.m. at Arlington Memory Garden in Midwest City. Philip Lairson, Brett McKnight and Bob Anderson will officiate.

Tiffini Denise Whorton was born Jan. 4, 1982, in Oklahoma City, the daughter of Thomas Daren Whorton and Tammy Denise Males Pannell.

The family moved to Bethel in 1992 where she attended Bethel Schools until transferring to Choctaw High School last February. She was currently a junior. She was active with the youth group at the Church of Christ in Tecumseh.

She is survived by her father and stepmother, Thomas and Melinda Whorton, and sister, Megan Whorton, of the home; her mother, Tammy Pannell; sister, Tory Pannell, and brother, Dustin Pannell, of Del City; grandparents, Joseph and Mildred Whorton, Midwest City; Charles A. and Vera Males, Choctaw; great-grandparents, Ruth Whorton, Carthage, Mo.; Charles O. and Velma Males, Midwest City, and many other relatives.

Memorials may be made to Tiffini Whorton Memorial Fund at First United Bank in Tecumseh.

Nancy Ann Unussee Tartsah

Nancy Ann Unussee Tartsah, 55, Okemah, died Wednesday.

She was born Sept. 8, 1942, in Okemah, the daughter of Freeland Nuah and Mary Cheek. She returned to Okemah in 1985 and was a care provider for the Oklahoma Department of Human Services.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two grandsons.

Survivors include two sons, two brothers, two sisters, and six grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Prairie Springs Indian Baptist Church with Joe Smith officiating. Burial will be at Unah family cemeteryunder the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Okemah.

Audrey J. Tompkins

Audrey J. Tompkins of Stroud died Tuesday at the age of 80.

She was born Sept. 14, 1917, in Susquehanna, Pa., the daughter of Egbert and Carrie (Morgan) Washburn.

She married Wallace Tompkins on Sept. 7, 1936, in Pennsylvania and was a homemaker. She moved from New York to Stroud 10 years ago and attended Stroud Christian Church.

Preceding her in death were her husband in 1995, her parents, a great-granddaughter, two sisters, one brother and one son-in-law.

Survivors include one son, Richard Tompkins, El Paso, Texas; two daughters, Carol Hall, Binghampton, N.Y.; Nancy Slaughter, Stroud; sister, Jean Cavanaugh, Montrose, Pa., four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Parks Funeral Home Chapel in Stroud with the Rev. Burl Mackey officiating. Burial will be in Susquehanna, Pa.

Dewey Baker

World War II veteran Dewey "Dude" Baker, Wanette, died Wednesday in a Norman Hospital. He was 87.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Wanette with the Rev. Sherman Fitzgerald officiating. Burial will be at Wanette Cemetery under the direction of Little's Funeral Home in Purcell.

Baker was born March 19, 1911, to Dutch and Alice Baker. He was reared in the Maxwell and Ada areas, and entered the U.S. Army in 1942. Baker served in World War II and was discharged in 1945.

He was a ranch foreman and worked in construction in the Wanette area for several years. He married Gracie Viola Lam on May 14, 1975, and was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church in Wanette.

Survivors include his wife, Grace Baker of the home; a son, Bob Baker of Sacramento, Calif.; two stepsons and their wives, Jimmy and Theda Plumley of Euless, Texas, Jerry and Wanda Plumley of Wanette; a stepdaughter, Joyce Davis of Shawnee; a sister, Essie Walker of Vanoss; a sister-in-law, Lucille Baker of Lexington; four grandchildren, 13 step-grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Bud, Roy and Bill; four sisters, Maude, Cordie, Alvie and Olvie.
