Edd Bailey

Paden resident Edd Bailey died Monday in Paden. He was 77.

Bailey was born Feb. 15, 1922, in Paden to Arlow Hutchinson and Nancy Elizabeth (Beck) Bailey. He married Ruth Gammill on Sept. 27, 1941, in Paden.

He lived in the Paden area all his life and was a member of the Paden Holiness Church. He was a farmer and rancher.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Phillip and Annette Bailey, Paden, and Danny and Renee Bailey, Chandler; daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Leon Speir, Dallas, Texas; daughter, Rebecca June Fisher, Prague; brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Mary Edna Bailey, Paden; 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife on March 24, 1990; his parents; two daughters; one brother; and two sisters.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Paden Holiness Church with the Rev. Wayne Ray, the Rev. Melvin Duke and the Rev. Paul Heard officiating. Burial will follow in the Paden Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Prague.

Trilba G. Anderson

Trilba G. Anderson of Oklahoma City died Saturday in an Oklahoma City nursing home. She was 95.

She was born Nov. 25, 1904, in Tecumseh and attended Bethel schools.

She was a homemaker. She is survived by a son, Howard Anderson of Checotah.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Tecumseh Cemetery with Dr. Jeff Moore officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Wilda Ada Cotton

Longtime Seminole County resident Wilda Ada Cotton died Sunday in Seminole. She was 89.

She was born Aug. 5, 1910, in Bruno, Ark., the daughter of Joe and Belle (Blankenship) Ogden.

She married Loren Cotton on Oct. 13, 1927, in Yellville, Ark.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Loren Cotton on Feb. 32, 1987; her parents, Joe and Belle Ogden; six sons, Charles, Loren Jr., Joe, Gary, Robert and an infant son; and two sons-in-law, Jack Knight and Richard Voelker.

Survivors include four daughters, Wanda Cotton, Shawnee; Ella and Charles Floyd, Edmond; Barbara Knight and friend Bill Lee, Seminole; Elizabeth (Voelker) and Jack Sargent, Saginaw, Mich.; daughters-in-law, Patricia Cotton, Nancy Cootie, Sharon Schlegel, Madeleine Castillo and Qualla Addington; 18 grandchildren, Glen Floyd, Billy Knight, Jackielynn Knight, Brandon Cotton, Edie Mayeux and Pam Seiben, all of Texas; Keith Cotton, Stephanie Sandlin, Randy Cotton, Steve Floyd, Cheryl O'Rourke and Jodie Cotton, all of Oklahoma; Melanie Voelker, Brian Cotton, both of Florida; Melissa Lovett, Saginaw, Mich.; Robert Cotton Jr., Leominster, Mass.; Loren Brent and Michael Cotton, both of Kentucky; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole with the Rev. Larry Chesser officiating.

Burial will be in Little Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole.

Effie E. Smith

McLoud resident Effie E. Smith died Saturday at McLoud Nursing Center. She was 94.

She was born Sept. 25, 1905, in Texas to Everett Home and Louisa Clementine Lane. She married James Clyde Smith and was a homemaker. She had lived in McLoud more than 60 years and was a member of Hazel Dell Baptist Church.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, C.J. and Marie Smith, McLoud; Ernest and Rosie Smith, Harrah; five grandchildren, Debbie Cook, Donnie Smith, Carol Mosier, Dale Smith and Diane Holloway; eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Clyde Smith, in 1984; two brothers and four sisters.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Collier officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Herbert Lee Booker

Herbert Lee Booker, Stonewall, died Friday at his home. He was 63.

Booker was born March 3, 1936, in Tecumseh to Lloyd and Elnora (Seals) Booker.

He attended Shawnee Public Schools and Ada High School.

Booker married Beulah Alexander on Nov. 19, 1960, in Stonewall.

He worked for Brockway Glass before retiring in 1991 and then worked for J.P. Emco (Camrose) until 1998. He also operated a detail shop from his home.

Survivors include his wife, Beulah Booker, of the home; a son, Kevin Booker, Oklahoma City; and a brother, Col. J.L. Booker Jr., U.S.M.C., Okinawa, Japan.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Criswell Chapel in Ada with the Rev. F.D. Cochran and Frank Brewer officiating.

Burial will be in Athens Cemetery in Ada under the direction of Criswell Funeral Home of Ada.

John Wesley Brooks Jr.

Former Shawnee resident John Wesley Brooks Jr., Blackgum Community, Okla., died Saturday at his home. He was 76.

Brooks was born Oct. 20, 1922, in Weatherford, the son of John Wesley Sr. and Eliza Jane (Barnes) Brooks.

He married Vivian Rosie Alline Davis on Nov. 14, 1957, in Gainesville, Texas.

Brooks worked as a carpenter and attended Faith Freewill Baptist Church in Blackgum Community.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Wesley Sr. and Eliza Jane Brooks.

Survivors include his wife, Vivian Brooks, of the home; seven daughters, Barbara Rich, Chickasha; Peggy Wharton, Conway, Ark.; Vivian Phillips, Lula Drywater, Shawn Cook, all of Vian; Teresa Laffoon, Gore; Sandra Starks, Wanette; four sons, John Wesley Brooks III, St. Louis, Mo.; John Wayne Brooks, Gore; James Charley Brooks, Talihina; Billy Joe Brooks, Vian; two sisters, Dorothy Bloom, Hayward, Calif.; Bertha Gregory, Austin, Texas; and 31 grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Blackgum Community, with the Rev. Jimmy Waldrop, the Rev. Phillip Holt and the Rev. Laymon Garrison officiating.

Burial will be in Box Cemetery north of Vian, under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw.

Bertha O'Brien

Former Prague resident Bertha O'Brien, Oklahoma City, died Friday in Oklahoma City. She was 88.

She was born April 17, 1911, in Elba, Ark., to Joseph Lafayette and Isabel (Bentley) Tipton.

She married Evert Snowden "Snode" O'Brien on Sept. 25, 1930, in Tecumseh.

Mr. and Mrs. O'Brien owned a grocery store and furniture store in Prague. She later worked as a baker at Prague Bakery.

She was a member of the Prague United Methodist Church and a founder of the KC Senior Citizen's Club in Prague.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Evert O'Brien in 1993; her parents, Joseph and Isabel Tipton; and five brothers.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, E.J. and Doris O'Brien, Vanderberg Village, Calif.; a daughter and son-in-law, Noma and Boyce Russell, Gallup, N.M., and Dolores, Colo.; six grandchildren, Ronald and Cecilia Russell, Creede, Colo.; Rockne and Shannon Russell, Weatherford; Robin Russell, Gallup, N.M.; Regina and Shauna O'Brien, both of Los Angeles, Calif.; Brandon O'Brien, Portland, Ore.; two great-grandchildren, Corey and Randi Russell, Weatherford; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Prague with the Rev. Jim Powell officiating.

Burial will be in Prague Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Prague.

Felicia and Alicia Childress

Services for Felicia LeAnne Childress, 7, and Alicia Ann Childress, 4, took place 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Okemah with the Rev. Betty Wideman officiating. Felicia and Alicia died Friday of injuries received in an automobile accident west of Wetumka.

Felicia was born June 18, 1992, in Shawnee. Alicia was born Jan. 12, 1995, in Shawnee. They were the daughters of Rex Allen Childress and Betsy Ann Jewell. Felicia was a first-grader at Wetumka Elementary School, and Alicia attended Headstart at Wetumka.

Their mother, Betsy Jewell Childress, also died in the accident.

Survivors include their father, Rex Allen Childress, Okemah; brothers, Rex Allen Childress III and Roy Lee Childress, both of Okemah; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Childress, Okemah; maternal grandfather, Gary Jewell, Russellville, Ark.; maternal grandmother, Lilly Quinality, Van Buren, Ark.; and several aunts, uncles and other family members.

Burial will be in the Rock Creek Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Okemah.
