Betsy Anne Jewell Childress

Services for Betsy Anne Jewell Childress, 26, took place 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Okemah with the Rev. Betty Wideman officiating. Childress died Friday of injuries received in an automobile accident west of Wetumka.

Childress was born Sept. 6, 1973, in Danville, Ark. She was the daughter of Gary Jewell and Lilly Phipps.

She married Rex Allen Childress July 15, 1991, in Okemah.

She attended Wetumka High School. She was employed by Kwikset in Bristow and lived in Wetumka.

Her daughters, Felicia and Alicia Childress, and her companion, Chance Joey Smith, also died in the accident.

Survivors include her husband, Rex Allen Childress, Okemah; two sons, Rex Allen Childress III and Roy Lee Childress, both of Okemah; father, Gary Jewell, Russellville, Ark.; mother, Lilly Quinality, Van Buren, Ark.; two brothers, Gerald Jewell, Wetumka, and Dewaine Jewell, Van Buren, Ark.; two sisters, Gayle Jewell, Russellville, Ark., and Becky Jewell, Ada; and paternal grandmother, Ella Grace Jewell.

Burial will be at Rock Creek Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah.

Bernice Aaron

Bernice Aaron died Saturday in a Shawnee nursing home.

She was born and raised in Chicago and was a long-time resident of Oklahoma City.

She was a member of Temple B'nai Israel. She was active in the Zachary Taylor P.T.A., and was a Brownie Girl Scout leader at Zachary Taylor and William Jennings Bryant schools.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Aaron, and an infant daughter.

Surviving include two daughters and their families; Phyllis and Michael Cowman, Tucson, Ariz.; Jeannie and Jim Hare, Shawnee; Aaron Cowman, John Kunze, and Ben Kunze.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Temple B'nai Israel, in Oklahoma City.

Jamie Ray Tisdell

Former Stroud resident Jamie Ray Tisdell died Sunday in Phoenix, Ariz. He was 31.

He was born Aug. 7, 1967, to Carlos and Pansy (Spears) Valenzuela. Moving from Stroud, he was a resident of Phoenix, Ariz., for the last 10 years. He was affiliated with the First Baptist Church in Stroud and went to Stroud High School.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, a grandfather, and one cousin.

Surviving include his father and mother, Carlos and Pansy Valenzuela of Stroud; fours sisters and husbands, Troy and John Morton of Chandler; Cammie and Michael Allen of Dallas; Sheana and John D. Newnam of Stroud; and Candice Valenzuela of Stroud; a grandmother, Betty Spears of Oklahoma City; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the Parks Brothers Chapel in Stroud with the Rev. Harold Gaches officiating. Burial will follow in the Stroud Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home In Stroud.

Peggy D. Densford

Peggy D. Densford, Seminole, died Tuesday at Shawnee Regional Hospital. She was 78.

She was born Nov. 23, 1920, in Lucas, S.D., to Knud and Beatrice Tysdal.

On Feb. 14, 1943, she married Dick Densford in Washington, D.C.

She moved from Washington, D.C., to Seminole, where she's lived for the past 50 years.

She was a homemaker, a member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and was a Campfire Girls leader and board member.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Surviving include her husband, Dick, of the home; one daughter, Carla Alexander, Moore; two sisters, Helen Stowell, Sun City West, Ariz; Virginia Brown, Ponca City; and one granddaughter, Tara Nicole Pierce.

Services are 2 p.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Karges officiating. Burial is at Maple Grove Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church building fund. Arrangements are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Peter Erichsen

Peter Erichsen died Sunday. He was 78.

He was born Feb. 20, 1920, in Tingleff, Denmark, to Nicolaus and Anna Margaretha (Broderson) Erichsen.

He married Jo Ann Badgwell in Chandler on Nov. 29, 1991. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and was a retired machinist and engineer.

Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother, and an infant sister.

Surviving include his wife, Jo Ann Erichsen of the home; one brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Olga Erichsen, Flensburg Germany; four nieces and one nephew; many other relatives and friends.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Chandler with the Rev. Rick Blackwell officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Park Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home of Chandler.

Joyce Ellen Trude

Joyce Ellen Trude, Harrah, died Monday. She was 43.

She was born July 17, 1955, in Oklahoma City to John B. and Geraldine (Jones) Stockton.

She was a Star Spencer High School graduate and attended Rose State College for three years.

She was a self-employed accountant-bookkeeper for 25 years and was a member of the Harrah Freewill Baptist Church. She was married to Tom Trude for 25 and a half years.

She is survived by her husband; two sons, Thomas Trude Jr. and Curtis Wayne Trude, both of the home; two brothers, James Stockton, Harrah; John Stockton Jr., Albuquerque, N.M., four sisters, Carolyn Hammer, Midwest City; Judy Jackson, Beggs, Okla.; JoAnne Sullivan and Jackie Harvey, both of Midwest City; her mother, Geraldine Stockton, also of Midwest City.

Services are 10 a.m. Friday at Harrah Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Puckett officiating. Burial is at Ferrell Cemetery, northeast of Harrah. Arrangements are under the direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service of Harrah.

Sarah Marie Fellows

Sarah Marie Fellows, infant daughter of Robert and Cheryl Fellows, Shawnee, died Sunday.

She was preceded in death by one uncle, Tom Fellows, in 1995.

Survivors include her parents; a sister, Regina Fellows, Tecumseh; a brother, Robert Fellows, Tecumseh; her grandparents, Buford and Zona Fellows, Tecumseh and Sharon Lindsey; aunts and uncles, Tina Fellows, Arkansas, Sam Fellows, Norman; and Gary and Shoba Lindsey; a great-grandfather, James Moutaw, Tecumseh; a great-grandmother, Virginia Bishop, Salt Lake City, Utah; and numerous great aunts and uncles.

Graveside services are 11 a.m. Friday at Resthaven Memorial park with Jim Elledge officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Chapel, Tecumseh.

Iris L. Gragg

Iris L. Gragg, 69, Midwest City, died Thursday.

She was born Nov. 25, 1929, in Pinehurst, Ga., to Claude Hudson and Eunice Eliza (Thompson) Hudson.

Her husband, Charles E. Gragg, preceded her in death.

Surviving are her son, Charles E. Gragg III; daughters, Charlene Brown, Cherrie James and Pam Gragg; three grandchildren, one great-grandchild, one brother, one sister and many others.

Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Prague United Methodist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Paylor Funeral Home of Midwest City. Memorial donations may be made to Cancer Treatment Center of Midwest City.

Summer Dawn Johnson

Summer Dawn Johnson, infant daughter of Stanley and Brenda Johnson, Shawnee, was born and died Tuesday.

Sunrise graveside services are set for 7 a.m. today at the Johnson Cemetery, north of Shawnee.

Survivors include her parents; three sisters, Crystal Ponkilla, Alisha Ponkilla and Maia Davis, all of Shawnee; four brothers, Bobby Billy, James Ponkilla, Charles Ponkilla and Asa Johnson, all of Shawnee; grandparents Charles and Christine Johnson and LoRena Ponkilla and several aunts and uncles.
