Grace Shepard

Grace Shepard died Thursday at Okemah. She was 86.

Mrs. Shepard was born March 14, 1914, in Paden to Tony and Pearl (Albright) Kennedy. She married Ernest R. Shepard on June 12, 1932, at Okemah. She was a homemaker and member of Last Chance Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, James and Ann Shepard, Beggs; Leon and Donna Shepard, Okemah; John Shepard, Rogers, Ark.; four daughters and sons-in-law, Ernestene and Doyle Hutson, Stony Point, N.Y.; Ramona and Jerry Cottrell, Oklahoma City; Morena and Ray Hodge, South Lake, Texas; Aliene and Chester Jenkins, Huntington Beach, Calif.; brother, Kenneth Kennedy, Washington; sister, Bernice Walker, Bakersfield, Calif.; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, in 1977; and two brothers.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Morse Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah, with the Rev. Jim Waller officiating.

Gertie Louise Brunkest

Gertie Louise (Watson) Brunkest of Livermore, Calif., died Tuesday in Stockton, Calif. She was 76.

Mrs. Brunkest was born March 31, 1924, in Shawnee to Bart and Ella (Wood) Watson. She attended school at Centerpointe and Bethel and was a 1942 graduate of Bethel High School.

She lived in Modesto, Calif., most of her life, moving to Livermore in 1992. She was a retired district manager for Montgomery Ward and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include her daughters, Beverly Harris and Pam Poco, both of Livermore; sisters, Addie Smith, Shawnee; Kozelhua Young, Tecumseh; brothers, Harold Watson, Ivory Watson and Jackie Watson, all of Tecumseh; three grandchildren, Debbie Lohs, Scott Wilkerson and Chenoah Shell; and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Oma Arms, Ruth Williams and Dovie Thomas; and three brothers, Frank Watson, Wayne Watson and Raymond Watson.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Clyde Quick officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery.

Lisa Annette Clark

Tecumseh resident Lisa Annette (Masters) Clark died Wednesday in Oklahoma City. She was 32.

Mrs. Clark was born Aug. 30, 1967, in Shawnee to Sanford Eugene and Margaret Marie (Carter) Masters. She was a 1985 graduate of Shawnee High School and graduated from Shawnee School of Cosmetology.

She married Raymond Clark on June 16, 1984, in Shawnee. She operated the beauty shop at Colonial Estates for four years and recently worked as a clerk at Granny Stephens Fried Chicken in Tecumseh.

She was owner and operator of Tecumseh Old West, a mail-order badge business and had also worked as a tour guide with her mother-in-law. She was a member of the First Church of God, Shawnee.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond Clark, of the home; daughter, Tasha Marie Clark, of the home; son, Joshua Clark, of the home; mother, Margaret Masters, Shawnee; father and stepmother, Gene and Christi Masters, Shawnee; grandmother, Gertrude Masters, Shawnee; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Hershall and Christine Clark, Tecumseh; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sherri and Tom Warren and Tina and Jamie Tarver, all of Tecumseh; nieces, Amber Weger and Summer Tarver, both of Tecumseh; nephews, Matt Weger and David Reed, both of Tecumseh; and many other relatives and friends.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Cooper Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Tom Harrison and the Rev. Will Bentley officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Earl Franklin Renner

Former Chandler resident Earl Franklin Renner of Oklahoma City died Wednesday in Oklahoma City. He was 92.

Renner was born Aug. 25, 1907, in Stroud to Wilhelm S. and Martha J. (Graham) Renner. He married Ruth Goither on Oct. 25, 1930.

He owned and operated a service station in Chandler and had lived in Oklahoma City since June 1997. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Chandler and was a charter member of the Chandler Rotary Club, serving as president twice.

He also was inducted into the Oklahoma Sports Officials Hall of Fame.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Juanita and Don Brown, Oklahoma City; daughter-in-law, JoAnn Renner; three grandchildren, Donita Brown Kuykendall; Lee Ann and husband Ed Gulyas; Richard E. and wife Diane Renner; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents; son, Richard E. Renner; six brothers and three sisters.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel, Chandler. Burial will follow in Oak Park Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Good Shepard Hospice of Oklahoma City.

Marcelina R. Trompeter

Former Wellston resident Marcelina R. Trompeter of Oklahoma City died Wednesday in Oklahoma City. She was 78.

Mrs. Trompeter was born Dec. 20, 1921, in Anadarko to Martin and Bessie (Camarillo) Rameriz. She married Woodrow Trompeter.

She retired from the food services department at the University of Central Oklahoma and had lived in Oklahoma City since her retirement.

Survivors include four sons, Tommy Sanchez, Oklahoma City; Dan Sanchez and Darrell Sanchez, both of Yukon; Martin Sanchez, Quanna, Texas; four daughters, Anita Guerria, Oklahoma City; Kathie Rico, Virginia City, N.M.; Gloria Valleyos, Dexter, N.M.; and Dalia Wyanns, Mustang; two brothers, Frankie Rameriz, El Paso, Texas; Polo Ramirez, Verden; five sisters, Lou Gonsales and Stella Kumez, both of Oklahoma City; Ida Joyer and Juanita Rameriz, both of California; Jo Rameriz, Carnegie; 32 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and two sisters.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, Wellston, with the Rev. Alan Small officiating. Burial will follow in Wellston Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Chandler.

Barbara Treat

Barbara (Zimmerman) Treat died Wednesday. She was 71.

Mrs. Treat was born Nov. 3, 1928, in Shawnee and attended St. Benedict School.

Survivors include her son, Robert Zimmerman; daughters, Cathey Wilson and Terri Moreau; sisters, Rita Maysey, Maurine Butler; brother, Pete Cottrell; nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Resthaven Cemetery under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Betty Jo (Rosier) Lyday

Shawnee resident Betty Jo (Rosier) Lyday died Monday at a Tecumseh nursing home. She was 74.

She was born Aug. 23, 1925, in Macomb to "Al" Angus L. Rosier and Clara G. (Edgin) Rosier.

She attended elementary school at Temple Hill School and Shawnee Public Schools. She graduated from Shawnee High School in 1944.

She worked at Woolworth's in Atlanta, Ga., and Shawnee. Later, she worked for the State of Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation, retiring in 1987 after 25 years of service.

She was an active member of Immanuel Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Mary Martha Sunday school class. She lived in Shawnee during most of her youth. Later, she lived in South Carolina and Atlanta, Ga., returning in 1963 to Shawnee, where she had lived since.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Albert Waller, Shawnee; daughter and her friend, Kathy Lee Lyday and Hal O'Connor, Shawnee; grandchildren, Chris Waller and wife Angie, Edmond, Charlie Waller, Wichita, Kan., Becky Waller, Norman, and Cody Opitz, Moore; sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Theo Bennett, Tecumseh; aunts, Winnifred Claxton, Norman, Mable Bizzle, Tecumseh, Jewel Ridenour, Shawnee, and Doris Edgin, Tecumseh; uncle, Jim Edgin, Arizona; and numerous cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with Dr. Jeff Moore officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4324 NW 63rd St., Suite 110, Oklahoma City, Okla. 73116-1513.

Arthur Rowlen

Jones resident Arthur "Chip" Rowlen died Monday. He was 80.

Rowlen was born May 4, 1919, in Jones to Thomas and Eva (McCuddy) Rowlen.

He was a technical sergeant with the 38th Troop Carrier Squadron. He retired from Tinker Air Force Base in 1974.

Survivors include his wife, Beatrice Marie; two sons, Richard and his wife, Carol; John and his wife, Dawn; three daughters, Cheryl Bell and her husband, Joe; Bonnie James and Pam Pierce; sister, Evelyn Lovell; 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Jones Christian Church. Burial will be at Jones I.O.O.F. Cemetery under the direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service.

Charlie Black

Dale resident Charlie Black died Monday at his home. He was 81.

He was born Feb. 6, 1919, in Dale to Bert and Arminda (Dodson) Black.

He married Lorene Mauldin July 4, 1940, in Shawnee.

Black graduated from Dale High School. He was a route man for Mendonca and Borden Dairies. After his retirement, he worked for 20 years for the Dale school system.

He was a member of the Dale United Methodist Church and Dale Alumni Association.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, LaVonna Black, four brothers and one sister.

Survivors include his wife, Lorene Black, Dale; son and daughter-in-law, Mel and Gail Black, Shawnee; granddaughters and their spouses, Sheila and Gerald Smith, Dale, Sheri and Troy Reed, Shawnee, and Crystal and Brian York; five great-grandchildren; sister, Mattie Parris, Shawnee.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Dale United Methodist Church with the Rev. Russell Currie officiating and the Rev. Larry Sparks assisting. Burial will be in Dale Cemetery under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
