Thomas E. Cox

Thomas E. Cox died Monday at Creek Nation Hospital. He was 90.

He was born June 19, 1910, in Stigler, the son of John Cox and Ollie Cox. He was an Air Force Veteran who served overseas during World War II.

On April 10, 1964, he married Oeta Jobe in Norman. He owned a dry cleaning business in Oklahoma City before his retirement.

Cox attended First Assembly of God Church and had been a resident of Okemah since April of 1998.

Survivors include his wife, Oeta Cox of the home in Okemah; two stepsons, Grover Ford of St. Augustine, Fla., and Robert L. Powell of New Sound, Wash.; three stepdaughters, Carolyn Flewelling of Edmond; Glenna Powell of Houston, Texas, and Deborah Bishop of Moore; one sister, Mildred Brewer of Oklahoma City; 11 stepgrandchildren and 15 stepgreat-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel, Okemah, with the Rev. Steve Lowrance officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery at Seminole.

Violet Lucille Hale

Shawnee resident Violet Lucille Hale died Tuesday in Athens, Texas. She was 63.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Resthaven Funeral Home with the Rev. Travis Hurst officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Goldie Mae Bryce

Bethel resident Goldie Mae Bryce died Thursday at a local nursing home. She was 95.

Mrs. Bryce was born Sept. 8, 1901, in Cherokee Territory, Okla., near Bragg, to W.H. and Emma Lou Lawson. She married Sherman Bryce in 1918 in Oxford, Ark.

She was raised in Oxford and moved east of Shawnee in 1921 and to Bethel in 1928. She was a homemaker and member of Blackburn Chapel Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Aubrey and Alfred Bryce, both of Shawnee; Bob Bryce, Springfield, Va.; three daughters, Virginia Hopkins, Shawnee; Velma Barrett, McLoud; Zelma Cox, Fort Smith, Ark.; 37 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great-grandchildren, one brother, T.L. Lawson, Shawnee; and two sisters, Jewel Edens, Shawnee; and Norma Landers, Dallas, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, seven sons, O.T., Rudell, Dorcie, Lyndell, Oid, Albert and Donald, four sisters and one brother.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Blackburn Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Scott Bates officiating. Burial will be in Blackburn Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Hildred L. Bauman

Shawnee resident Hildred L. Bauman died Friday in Midwest City. She was 94.

Services are pending with Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Cleda Opal Brandon

Cleda Opal Brandon died Friday at a Seminole hospital. She was 88.

Miss Brandon was born on Feb. 10, 1912, in Okemah, the daughter of Bert Brandon and Bertha Fisher Brandon. She was a retired nurse and a member of the Church of Christ.

She had lived in Okemah all of her life and was a resident of Pioneer Nursing Home at the time of her death.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include one brother, L.K. Brandon of Abilene, Texas.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Highland Cemetery. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah.

Stella M. Lancaster

Stella M. Lancaster died Friday at Creek Nation Hospital. She was 81.

Mrs. Lancaster was born on Oct. 25, 1918, the daughter of Lonza Henshaw and Myrtle Harrison Henshaw. On Dec. 26, 1934, she married Oliver Phil Lancaster, who preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church and had lived in Okemah for the last three years.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, son Gene Lancaster and two brothers.

Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Troy Lancaster and wife Wanda of Medford, Ore.; Larry Lancaster and wife Tina of Bakersfield, Calif. and Rick Lancaster of Okemah; two daughters, Sharon Kay Tobey and Opal Young, both of Okemah; one brother, Leslie Henshaw of Okemah; two sisters, Geraldine Stotts and Gladys Stotts, both of Okemah; 15 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Stotts officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Okemah.

Dorothy Donnie Rosen

Dorothy Donnie Rosen of Morrow, Ga., died Thursday in Morrow, Ga. She was 75.

She was born May 7, 1925, in Clayton, Ga. She was the daughter of Columbus Marcus and Martha (Garrett) Marcus.

She worked at Richard's Department Store as a cashier for many years. She married William Thomas Rosen on Dec. 7, 1957, in Atlanta, Ga., and he preceded her in death.

Mrs. Rosen was a member of the Ernest Angle Crusades in Akron, Ohio. She lived in Georgia until 1983, when she moved to Shawnee. In 1999, she moved back to Georgia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include one son, James McWilliams Jr. of Shawnee; ex-husband, James McWilliams Sr. of Shawnee; four sisters, Delores Richardson of Shawnee; Jean Wright of Forrest Park, Ga.; Mabel Evans of Thomasville, Ga.; Gladys Campbell of Trian, Ga.; Hazel York of Hayesville, N.C.; several nieces and nephews including nephew, Jack Wright and two nieces, Cheryl Harris and JoAnn Eds.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Resthaven Memorial Park. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park, under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Abby Jacklynne Johnson

Faith Lynne Johnson

Abby Jacklynne Johnson and Faith Lynne Johnson died Thursday.

They were born June 26, 2000. They were the daughters of Michelle and Caleb Johnson of Drumright.

Survivors include their parents, two sisters, Miranda and Caitlin Lynne and one brother, Austin; grandparents, Linda Dixon and Mike Hall of Oilton; Gene Johnson of Shawnee; Peggy and John DeHart of Chandler; great-grandparents, Jack Hall and Arlene Floyd and Kenneth Deeds all of Oilton; LeLo and Larry Holt of Oklahoma City; Bill Dulaney of Davenport; Norma Johnson of Shawnee and the late Paul Johnson.

Graveside services were Friday at Floral Haven Garden of Angels, Broken Arrow.

Jimmie Lee Nolan

Jimmie Lee Nolan died Thursday in Tulsa. He was 65.

He was born Nov. 10, 1934, in Prague. He was the son of Paul Patrick and Sue (Newton) Nolan.

He was a Prague area resident and he retired after working 38 years for the U.S. Air Force in civil service. He attended Pleasant Home Baptist Church.

He graduated from Prague High School in 1952 and served overseas in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict. He married Sherry Hightower in Prague on Dec. 20, 1958.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Survivors include his wife, Sherry Nolan of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sherri LeDawn and Charles Sierra, San Antonio, Texas; Michelle and Allen Krueger, San Marcos, Texas; one brother, Glen Nolan, Dallas, Texas; two sisters, Pat Riddle, Broken Bow; Faye Talbert, Oklahoma City; his wife's parents, Alma and Doyle Russell, Prague; Ralph and Ann Hightower, Barnsdahl; one grandson, James Krueger, San Marcos, Texas.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Prague with the Rev. James Baughman officiating. Burial will be in the Little Cemetery.

Esther (Ogle) Spicer

Esther "Jewell" (Ogle) Spicer of St. Louis died Friday at her home. She was 91.

She was born June 20, 1909, in St. Louis. She was the daughter of Silas Ogle and Minnie (Lowe) Ogle.

She was a lifelong resident of St. Louis. She married George Garland Spicer on Dec. 4, 1927, in St. Louis.

He preceded her in death on April 23, 1963. She was a homemaker and cooked at St. Louis High School from 1960 to 1966.

Spicer was a member of St. Louis Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two stepsons, two stepdaughters, two sisters-in-law and five brothers.

Survivors include two sons, Jerone Lee Spicer and Veldon Eugene Spicer, both of Asher; six daughters, Deloris Kowalski of Port Richev, Fla.; Claudetta Cobb of Lexington, Alice Martindale of Elk City; Linda Kaye Steffes of Tuttle; Nora Jean Watson of Calvin; Patsy Ann Strayhorn of Bowlegs; one stepson, Jim Conrad Spicer of Seguin, Texas; one sister, Pansy (Ogle) Coyle of Sparks; sisters-in-law, Mammie Ogle of Marlow; Hazle Ogle of Geary; Georgia Ogle of Geary; special friends, Alva and Wilma Hembree of St. Louis; 46 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Oak Grove Cemetery Chapel with Gerd Fecht and Doyle Loveland officiating. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, Pearson, under the direction of Knight Funeral Home.
