Mollie J. Miller

Mollie J. Miller of Oklahoma City died Thursday at a Weatherford hospital. She was 88.

She was born May 21, 1912, in Hinton to Charles W. Johnston and Bessie G. (Bryant) Johnston.

She married Robert V. Miller on Dec. 25, 1933, in Seminole. They left Seminole in 1948, living in Oklahoma City from 1948 to 1999. In 1999, she moved to Weatherford.

She retired after more than 40 years as the secretary-treasurer for the First American Title Company of Oklahoma City. Mrs. Miller was a member of the Mayfair Church of Christ in Oklahoma City.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband on April 28, 1982; and one sister, Lenora Davidson.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Linda Miller of Oklahoma City; a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Arlene Johnston Jr. of Seminole; sister and brother-in-law, Kaye and Don Black of Weatherford; brother-in-law, Altus Davidson of Stroud; granddaughter, Denise and husband Shawn Fowler of Edmond.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Strother Chapel, Maple Grove Cemetery, with Bruce Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Hildred L. Bauman

Shawnee resident Hildred L. Bauman died Friday at a Midwest City hospital. She was 94.

Mrs. Bauman was born May 7, 1906, in Wakita, Okla. She graduated from Shawnee High School.

She married A.L. "Tony" Bauman on Aug. 1, 1928, at St. Benedict's Catholic Church. They owned Tony's Drive-Inn for 25 years.

She then worked for the Pottawatomie County Health Department and also had worked for Baptist Hardware and S&S Feed and Seed.

She was a member of St. Benedict's Catholic Church, where she played the organ for 70 years. She had also played the organ for Nazarene, Episcopal and Catholic churches while in high school and for theaters during the silent movies era.

Survivors include six children, Mary Stephens, Oklahoma City; Nina Austin, Shawnee; George and Anna Marie Bauman, Norwalk, Calif.; Margaret and David Bouska, Huntsville, Ala.; Frank and Karen Bauman, Shawnee; Sylvia and Larry Coogle, Milton, Fla.; 20 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Sister M. Gertrude Bauman, Wichita, Kan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony Bauman; two granddaughters, Susan Kincaid and Regina Bauman; and a son-in-law, Kenneth Stephens.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Benedict's Catholic Church with the Rev. Price Grimes and Bill Matthews officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Memorials may be made to St. Gregory's Creative Campus Living Center, 1900 W. MacArthur, or to Hospice of Shawnee, 1102 W. MacArthur.

Nancy S. Hughes

Nancy S. Hughes of Oklahoma City died Friday at Presbyterian Hospital. She was 59.

Mrs. Hughes was born Nov. 30, 1940, and lived in Seminole until moving to Oklahoma City a few years ago. She graduated from Konawa High School, and she worked as a nursing assistant in Seminole nursing homes.

She is survived by two daughters, Janice Mitchell and Linda Hughes, both of Tulsa, and one sister, Mary Kathryn Moore of Hurst, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Estel Francis "Nig" and Helen Esther (Fisher) Guinn.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Maple Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Hightower officiating, under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Jeanne Lecta Jemison

Jeanne Lecta Jemison, 94, died Saturday at Okemah.

Graveside services are set for 1 p.m. Wednesday at Highland Cemetery. Parks Brothers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She was born Feb. 11, 1906, at Okemah to John H. Jemison and May (Rutland) Jemison. Miss Jemison attended school at Okemah, but lived most of her life in Oklahoma City. She was a homemaker.

Her parents preceded her in death.

Survivors include a brother, John H. Jemison, Diamond Bar, Calif., and three nieces, Carol Lande, Pasadena, Calif.; Janet Nevfeld, Diamond Bar, Calif.; and Nancy Sweet, Okemah.

Martha Mildred Bergschneider

Martha Mildred Bergschneider of Shawnee died Sunday in Shawnee. She was 92.

She was born Dec. 23, 1907, in Levisay, Mo., the daughter of James and Addie (Webb) Jackson.

She graduated from Levisay High School and worked at Western Sizzlin Steakhouse as a cashier for 13 years. While in Missouri she worked as a switchboard operated and during World War II she worked at Lake City. After moving to Shawnee she worked at Varners and Kib Warrens.

She married M.J. Jack Bergschneider on Feb. 23, 1927, in Independence, Mo. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, where she was a song leader and a board member. She lived in Missouri until moving to Shawnee in 1953.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jack on Aug. 28, 1978, four sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Lavaun and Dennis Duvall, Shawnee; three grandchildren, Staci Farmer, Cyprus, Texas; Josh Duvall and Ricki Simpson, Shawnee; Jeremy Duvall, Oklahoma City; three great-grandchildren, Danielle Farmer of Cyprus, Texas; Morgan Farmer of Cyprus, Texas, and Destiny Duvall of Shawnee; one brother, J.C. "Pete" Jackson, Corpus Christi, Texas; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Jackson, Buckner, Mo.; four nieces and two nephews.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel with the Revs. Bill Matthews and Phil Thompson officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Lena Mae Brown

Lena Mae Brown of Shawnee died Sunday at her home. She was 79.

She was born Sept. 3, 1920, west of Shawnee. She was the daughter of Clarence and Ida (O'Neal) Litton.

She graduated from Bethel High School. Brown was an OB nurse at Mission Hill Hospital, where she retired from in 1985.

She married William Henry Brown Jr. on Sept. 28, 1937. He preceded her in death in March 1997.

She had lived in the same house since her marriage in 1937. She served as her church's organist or pianist since age 12.

She was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters, one brother and one grandchild.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, David and Sharon Brown, Louisville, Ky.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Terry Rush, Wanette; Janice and Kenneth Spears, Shawnee; Mary and Noah Mullendore, Bethel Acres; seven grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Wallace Avenue Baptist Church with the Rev. W.F. Crow and the Rev. DuWayne Colvin officiating. Burial will be at the Fairview Mausoleum, under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.

Robert Knickerbocker

Robert Knickerbocker of Stroud died Monday in Oklahoma City. He was 85.

Services are pending with Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Stroud.

Barbara Ann Cato

Barbara Ann Cato of Harrah died Sunday. She was 65.

She was born Oct. 15, 1934, in Wichita, Kan., to William and Vinez (Palmer) Armstrong. She married William "Bill" Cato on June 9, 1954, in Newton, Kan.

The couple moved to Harrah in 1960. She was the director at Harrah Senior Citizens Center for four years and worked in the Outreach Division for The Salvation Army for eight years.

Survivors include her husband, Bill, of the home; two sons, Billy, from Oklahoma, and Robert of Kansas; two daughters, Robbin Drake of Texas and Wanda Everett of Kansas; one brother, Eugene Armstrong of Missouri; and many other family members and friends.

Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Harrah with burial at Memory Lane Cemetery under the direction of Asa Smith Funeral Service.

Donations can be made to the Harrah Senior Citizens Center.

Dollie Edna (Pierce) Blackwell

Dollie Edna (Pierce) Blackwell of Maud died Sunday in a Maud nursing home. She was 65.

She was born May 29, 1935, in Seminole County. She was the daughter of James Henry Pierce and Lois Kelly (Slaughters) Pierce.

She was a lifelong Maud area resident. She was a homemaker and was affiliated with the Church of God.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Verlin Pierce, on July 31, 1986.

Survivors include two brothers, Raymond Taylor of Maud and Alfred Pierce of Shawnee; three sisters, Rachel Hale of Maud, Louise Cullum of Maud and Mary Brewer of Seminole; and many other nieces and nephews.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at East Oak Church of God in Maud with the Rev. Larry Chesser and the Rev. Odell Vanderburg officiating. Burial will be at Cummings Cemetery, Maud, under the direction of Knight Funeral Home.
