Leonard Peterman

Leonard "Wayne" Peterman of McLoud died Monday. He was 56.

He was born Dec. 1, 1943, to Leonard and Dorothy (Whittet) Peterman.

He was married to Mary Totty on Nov. 12, 1963, in Shawnee.

Peterman served in the Army National Guard and was retired from Fred Jones/Autocraft after working 30 years.

Surviving are his wife, Mary of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Doug and wife Renea of McLoud; Mark and wife Lisa of McLoud; Vernon and wife T. of Holdenville; five grandchildren, Kayla, Kyle, Chelsee, Sage, Vernon, and other family members.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Asa Smith Funeral Chapel in Harrah. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in McLoud.

Christopher Ty Ataddlety

Christopher Ty Ataddlety of Shawnee died Saturday in Shawnee. He was 26.

He was born Aug. 29, 1973, in Lawton, to Lewis Ataddlety and Juanita Kemp. He was a member of the North Rock Creek Assembly of God Church in Shawnee.

Survivors include his mother of Shawnee and father of Oklahoma City; grandmother from Anadarko; three brothers, Raymond, James and Nathan Ataddlety; three sisters, Cassandra and Tynita Ataddlety and Meagan MahTushquh all of Shawnee; one nephew, Raymond Ataddlety, Jr.; six aunts and uncles and many other family members and a host of friends.

Memorial services will be held 7 p.m. Friday at North Rock Creek Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Thomas Morris officiating.

Ola Helen Collins

Ola Helen Collins died Tuesday at her home in Sand Springs. She was 86.

Mrs. Collins was born May 25, 1914, in Cedar Glades, Ark., to Onsloe and Minnie (Melton) Bates. She married Willie Otis Collins on Nov. 13, 1931.

She lived in Barnsdall, Okla., until she moved to Tulsa in 1937. She was a retiree of McDonnell Douglas, where she began working during World War II. She also worked at Spartan Aircraft Co.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Geneva L. and Stanley R. Infield, Tulsa; Donna S. and Jerry L. Johnson, Sand Springs; four grandchildren and their spouses, Pamela Ward, Austin, Texas; Gary D. and Allyson Infield, Bristow; Brian L. and Michelle Johnson, Shawnee; Darin K. and Robin Johnson, Claremore; five great-grandchildren; brother, Dr. Ivan W. Bates, Terre Haute, Ind.; two sisters, Mamie Little, Catoosa; Vicky Mewherter, Tulsa; her foster family, Melinda and Kenneth Baker, Sand Springs, and their three children and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1979, a stillborn daughter in 1932, five brothers and one sister.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Assembly of God, Sand Springs. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Ethel Reece Cemetery, Barnsdall, under the direction of Oliver-Whisenhunt Funeral Services, Tulsa.

Memorials may be made to the Women's Ministries of First Assembly of God, 500 N. Wilson, Sand Springs.

William David Armstrong Sr.

William David "Bill" Armstrong died Thursday in Seminole. He was 89.

He was born March 5, 1911, in Altus, to David Armstrong and Lula (Bricker) Armstrong. He began working in the greater Seminole oilfield in 1927 and continued in the oil drilling industry until his retirement in 1974.

He married Helen Wilson in Hope, Ark., Oct. 17, 1931. He lived in Bowlegs for 62 years and became a resident of Seminole Estates Nursing Center in Seminole in 1993.

Armstrong was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Bowlegs for more than 60 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years in 1997; two sons, William David Armstrong, Jr. in 1982 and Billy Powell Armstrong in 1992; his parents, four brothers and four sisters.

Survivors include his daughter and her husband, Bettie Jo Conn and John D. Conn of Seminole; a brother, Cecil Armstrong of Hualapi, Ariz.; two daughters-in-law, Peggy Armstrong of Stillwater and Burnice Armstrong of Perkins; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Maple Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Cocke officiating. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home.

Rodger R. Hamilton

Rodger R. Hamilton of Merritt Island, Fla., died Thursday in Port Charlotte, Fla. He was 57.

He was born on Sept. 7, 1942, in Jumbo, Okla. He moved from Oklahoma to Florida five years ago. He was self-employed in auto sales and a member of the Moose Lodge No. 2073, Merritt Island.

Survivors include his wife, Karen E. Hamilton, two sons, Ovid L. Hamilton of Satellite Beach, Fla., and Paris G. Hamilton of Satellite Beach, one daughter, Lou Ann Hamilton of Yukon, mother Anna Lee Argo of Atoka, father Oscar Hamilton of Antlers, four brothers, Lee Hamilton of Port Charlotte, Fla., Lou Hamilton of Merritt Island, Fla., Floyd Hamilton of Sterling and Charley Hamilton of Oklahoma City, two sisters, Paula Boughman of Atoka and Deborah Walker of Atoka, and three grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church of Paden under the direction of Paul Schelm Funeral Home, Port Charlotte, Fla.

Marlene Francis Smith

Marlene Francis Smith, 63, died Monday, June 26, in Tecumseh.

She was born March 6, 1937, in Fincastle, Va., to Joseph Samuel and Stella Deel. On July 7, 1957, she married Waylan Smith, wo preceded her in death. After her marriage, she moved to Louisiana. In 1976, she moved to Oklahoma; and, for the last five years, resided in Tecumseh. She was a homemaker and worked as a housekeeper.

Mrs. Smith was a Baptist.

Survivors include two daughters, Judy Whitaker of Queen Creek, Ariz., and Patricia Verville of Oklahoma City, two sons, Ed Smith of Tecumseh and Robert Wayne Smith of Sorrento, Fla., 26 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

No services are planned.

Peggy Lorine Vawter

Peggy Lorine Vawter died Tuesday in Noble. She was 69.

Mrs. Vawter was born to Sidney and Pearl Hopper Rinks on Dec. 24, 1930, at Harden County, Tenn. She was adopted at the age of 3 by John and Anna King of Nashville, Tenn.

She attended grade school at South Harper Valley, Tenn., and high school at Bellview, Tenn. She and Joe Don Vawter were married on Feb. 10, 1951, at Fort Worth, Texas.

They were married for 49 years. They had lived in Noble since 1963.

She was employed in housekeeping at the Norman Regional Hospital, the Holiday Inn of Norman and Howard Johnson's. Mrs. Vawter was a member of the Noble Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents and adoptive parents.

Survivors include her husband, Joe of the home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Don and Donna, Norman, and Joseph, Norman; two daughters, Judy Powell and LeeAnn Idell of Noble; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Pauline Russell of Burleson, Texas, and Katie Burin of Tennessee; four brothers, Hollis Rinks of Flint, Mich.; Willie Rinks, Billie Rinks and Charles Rinks of Miland, Tenn., and other relatives and friends.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Noble Church of Christ with Norman Easter officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Maguire Cemetery, directed by Memorial Chapel Funeral Service of Noble.

Blanche Ferguson

Blanche Ferguson died Thursday in Oklahoma City. She was 82.

She was born Jan. 13, 1918, at Roanoke, Va., to Harley McGrady and Vera (Firebaugh) McGrady. She married Robert H. Ferguson March 16, 1940, at Roanoke, Va.

She was an owner/operator in the garment industry. She attended the First Christian Church and was a resident of the Okfuskee County area for 35 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters and one brother.

Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Rinda and Don Farris of Mason; Sherry McMillen of Oklahoma City; four sisters, Barbara Newton of Corpus Christi, Texas; Ruth Aiken of Troutville, Va.; Doris Jean Hall of Roanoke, Va.; Edith Cove of Fairfax, Va.; five grandchildren, Chris Lawrence of Atlanta, Ga.; Courtney McMillen of Oklahoma City; Adam McMillen of Oklahoma City; Tye Farris of Depew; Rusty Farris of Bristow and one great-granddaughter, Madeline Jane Farris of Bristow.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel at Okemah, with the Rev. Jack Vance officiating. Burial will follow at Henryetta Cemetery.

Leo Satterfield

Leo "Jack" Satterfield of Oklahoma City died Friday. He was 67.

He was born Aug. 26, 1932, in St. Louis, to William and Cora Satterfield.

Survivors include his wife, Mary of the home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Virgil and Belinda of Newcastle and Alan of Newalla; brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl and Jane of Macomb, Robert and Paula of Sublet, Kan., and James and Fern of Filmore, Calif.; sisters, Lena Bleakley and Ethel Neal both of Shawnee; grandson and daughter-in-law, Sean and Lydia Satterfield of Moore; brothers-in-law, Robert Dockery of McLoud, Raymond Dockrey of Mustang and a host of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 9 a.m. Monday at Sunnylane Cemetery, under the direction of Vondel Smith and Son Mortuaries, Oklahoma City.
