Robert Clayton Long
Robert Clayton Long, 75, of Norman, Oklahoma, died Sunday, August 3, 2003 at his home in Norman, Oklahoma. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, August 6, 2003, at McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church, Norman, Oklahoma with Rev. Scott Sharp officiating. Interment will follow at the Roselawn Cemetery in Mangum, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman, Oklahoma.
R.C. Long was born March 25, 1928 in Guthrie County, Iowa to Florence and Ernie Long. He joined the military and served with the merchant marines in 1944 and later with the U.S. Navy in 1945. He was given early release due to the illness of his father. After his discharge, R.C. traveled and worked with his two younger brothers in the magazine industry. He married Naomi Sue Sullivan of Mangum, Oklahoma in September 17, 1948. They established their home in Norman, Oklahoma and operated the company, Paramount Products., a family album and photo processing business that took them throughout the midwestern states.
R.C. Long was most proud of his grandchildren, Clay, Jamie, Rachel, Alexa and Victor, his salesmanship ability and the graduation of his three sons from the University of Oklahoma.
R.C. Long was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother, Donald Long and sister, Pauline Gouge. Survivors include three sons, Robert S. Long of Noble, OK, Michael R. Long and wife, Vicki of Tallahassee, FL and Victor Dee Long and wife, Lisa of Norman, OK; sister, Mildred Golay and husband, Chuck of Coon Rapids, Iowa; brothers, Jerry Long and Richard Long, both of Wagoner, Oklahoma; and five grandchildren.

Austin Derek McKaig
Austin Derek McKaig, 22, of Norman, Oklahoma died Thursday,
July 31, 2003, in McClain County. Funeral Services will be held 10:30
a.m., Wednesday, August 6, 2003, at the First Baptist Church of Norman
with Reverend Mike Bumgarner officiating. Interment will follow at 4:00
p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery in Enid, Oklahoma with full military
honors. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening, August 5, 2003, from
5:30 until 9:00 p.m. at Havenbrook Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be
Will Merrick, Scott Henderson, Doug Jacobson, Sam Zantout, Dustin
Creizenbeck, Jason Dixon, Kevin Clark, Brian Hartsock, Ben Ray and
Bryan Ray. Honorary Bearers will be members of the Delta Upsilon Fraternity, “Fall 1999, Pledge
Class”, Mike, Nate, Deluca, Sam, Jarod, and others, “you know who you are”. Services are under
the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman.
Austin was born August 27, 1980 in Enid, Oklahoma. He grew up in Enid, moving to
Norman in 1990, where he graduated from Norman High School in 1999. He attended O.U. for 3
½ years prior to joining the U. S. Army. Austin was proud to serve his country. He graduated with
a degree in Communication from AIT School in Ft. Gordon, Georgia. Austin was a Private E 3 and
was scheduled to serve in Korea. He was a member of the Delta Upsilon Fraternity while at O. U.
and a member of the First Baptist Church of Norman. Austin enjoyed his friends, family and was
an avid O.U. and Dallas Cowboy football fan. He loved to make people laugh. He was a joy to
everyone he met and loved by all.
Austin was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Russell McKaig. He is survived
by his parents, Tony & Janis McKaig of the home; brother, Tyler McKaig of the home; paternal
grandmother, Chloe Ann McKaig of Cedar Valley, Oklahoma and maternal grandparents, Ruby &
Arlynn Baker of Enid, Oklahoma.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Austin McKaig Memorial Scholarship Fund at
Norman High School.

James Buffington “Buff” Moffat
James Buffington “Buff” Moffat, 70, of Norman, Oklahoma, died Thursday, December 7,
2006, at home with his wife and family at his side, of Pulmonary Fibrosis. Born July 3, 1936, in
Vinita, Oklahoma, to Ross and Jacqueline Null. He graduated from high school in Vinita,
Oklahoma in 1954, and attended Northeastern College in Miami, Oklahoma. He worked in
Henderson, Nevada at the underground Nuclear Test Site before enlisting in the U.S. Army in
1959, serving until 1962, spending part of that time in Korea. Buff served an additional three years
in the Army Reserve at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He moved to Norman after his discharge from active
duty in 1962. He married June Whitney in 1963 and had four sons. Buff worked in sales and
management at Reynolds Ford, Al Salyer Cadillac, Bob Bryce Buick, Adams Chevrolet, Bolen
Oldsmobile and, Fred Jones Ford, before his retirement in 2001. He enjoyed driving with a group
of other retirees for Tom Heitz at Heitz Chevrolet in Norman. He loved staying active and enjoyed
the camaraderie he had with the other drivers, Leman, Howard, Ray and Donna. Buff was an avid
reader and old car enthusiast. Buff loved good conversation, history, old movies, story telling,
Jazz, Swap meets and telling jokes, he was always smiling and laughing. He especially enjoyed
spending time in California with his wife; his family and his three poodles.
Buff was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He worked very hard his
entire life for his family. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, June; and their four sons, Tom,
Mark, Doug and Jeff; daughters-in-law, Julie and Stacie, grandsons, Branden, age 10, and
Christopher, age 6 months, of Norman and Moore. He is also survived by a life long friend he
loved like a brother, John Yeazel, of Springfield, MO, who was always there when he needed him,
and who always supported and encouraged him, especially throughout his illness. Additional
survivors include his brother Gene Null, of Tulsa, OK; cousins, Elizabeth Ann Dietrich and Emily
Scott of Vancouver, Canada; sister-in-law, Mary Kelly, of Norman; brother-in-law, Darl Danford
and sons, Riley and Mitchell, of San Diego, CA, and brother-in-law, John Whitney and wife,
Sherry, and family, of Indianapolis, Indiana; and lifelong friends, Dale Justus of Claremore, OK
and Stan Martin of Muskogee, OK.
Buff was also a member of the Cherokee Nation and grandson of Cherokee Chief Tom
Buffington, former mayor of Vinita, OK and U.S. Senator.
He also wanted to thank Father Ed Menasco, Pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church in
Norman, for confirming him into the Catholic Church, Dr. Jean Kedissi and all the staff at the OU
Medical Center and the Excel Hospice for doing their best to help him.
Buff was a wonderful man and will be greatly missed and never forgotten by his family and
friends.

Marian Lucille Bethel
Marian Lucille Bethel, age 85, of Norman, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, December 10,
2009 surrounded by family members. Marian was born Feb. 23, 1924, in McAlester, Oklahoma the
daughter of the late Vernon Lee and Obelia Henryetta McKinney. She enjoyed genealogy and was
a retired homemaker and avid reader.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dorvin Raymond Bethel and brother Vernon
Leonard “Jack” McKinney. Survivors include her son, Jerry L Bethel of St Louis, Missouri and
daughters, Karen K. Pospisil and her husband, Charles, of Norman, Janet K Smothermon and her
husband, John of Weatherford, TX and Joann D Bethel of Norman; grandchildren, Angela Nicholson
and husband, Michael, Laura Pospisil, Adam Pospisil, Jody Smothermon, Jayme Scott and husband
Travis, Johna Smothermon and great grandchildren Kegan, Alexis, Brayden and Baylee; sisters
Patricia A Gill and husband Ernie of Tulsa, Wilma L Pettijohn and husband Andy of Olathe, Kansas
and a large extended family including many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be 10:00AM Dec 14, 2009, at Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel, 3401
Havenbrook Street, Norman, OK 73072 officiated by Harry V Smith, M.Div., M.Ed., Chaplain and
music by her niece Nancy Salgado. Interment will be at the I00F Cemetery, Norman. Visitation will
be Saturday Dec. 12, 2009 and Sunday Dec 13, 2009 after 1PM at Havenbrook Funeral Home.
The family would like give thanks to her many caregivers “angels” at Grace Living Center
who provided comfort and support during her final months of life.
Donations may be made to the Heartland Hospice Memorial Fund, American Heart
Association or American Diabetes Association.

James Lee Chastain II
Jim was born in Tahlequah, Oklahoma on December 9, 1963. He grew up in Bartlesville and was a member of the last graduating class of Sooner High School in 1982. He attended Oklahoma State University where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity and got a degree in finance. He moved to Norman where he married his wife, LeAnn, and attended law school at the University of Oklahoma. After graduating from law school, Jim worked as an attorney in Oklahoma City for many years and was blessed to work with wonderful people at the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals.
As well as being a journalist, film critic, and screenwriter, Jim was also a major part of the Oklahoma poetry and literature scene. He published three books, and a fourth will be coming out later in the spring of 2010 with Village Books Press.
I Survived Cancer, But Never Won the Tour de France was listed in the Top Ten Nonfiction of 2006 in the Austin Chronicle, and his poetry collection Antidotes and Home Remedies was a finalist for the 2009 Oklahoma Book Award. Along with these, many of his individual poems appeared in magazines and literary journals like World Literature Today, Oklahoma Today, and Blood and Thunder.
Jim was named twice to the Oklahoma Poet Laureate nominating committee, was a state finalist judge for Poetry Out Loud, and was a member of the Oklahoma Film Critics Circle.
Jim was an inspiration to many throughout his long battle with cancer. He died peacefully in his sleep on Christmas Eve. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, LeAnn; daughter, Maddye; son, Ford; parents, Jim and Sharon Chastain; sister and brother-in-law, Lori and Terry Bigby; sister, Cindy Crosslin; grandmother, Ruth Wolfe; grandfather, H.N. Towry; in-laws, Louise and Garold DeWitt and Terry and Kathy Sims; brother-in-law, Terry Sims; nine nieces and nephews: Brandon, Daniel, Luke and Steven Bigby, Kayla and Kristina Carder, Jordan, Logan and Kenzie Crosslin; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends. He is preceded in death by sister, Karyn Carder, and great grandparents Bige and Mae Hensley.
Jim’s Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, December 29 at 2 p.m. at McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions can be made to the Jim Chastain Memorial Fund at First Bank & Trust, Norman.

Anthony George Anglin
Anthony George Anglin, 39, of Norman, Oklahoma, died
suddenly on Monday, February 9, 2004 in Norman, Oklahoma.
Private services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under
the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman, Oklahoma.
Mr. Anglin was born December 29, 1964 in San Bernardino,
California, the loving son to Harold “Buck” and Barbara (Prince)
Anglin. He moved to Norman in 1992 from Kansas City, Missouri.
Mr. Anglin was preceded in death by his brother, Michael
Wayne Anglin and grandparents, Lavern and Dan Anglin and Herman
Prince. Survivors include his parents, Buck and Barbara Anglin of
Norman.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart
Association, 5375 SW 7th St., Topeka, KS 66606

Phillip E. Bucher
Phillip E. Bucher, 67, of Norman,
Oklahoma, died Wednesday, 27, 2003 in
Norman, Oklahoma. Funeral Services will
be held at 2.00 P.M., Monday, March 3,
2003 at Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel
with Reverend Joe Grizzle officiating.
Interment will follow at the Sunset
Memorial Park Cemetery in Norman,
Oklahoma. Pallbearers will be Johnnie
Wright, Loren Grout, Buddy Raney, Gary
Robinson, Kenneth Morrow and Don Stove.
Honorary bearers will be Bob Jones, Jimmy
Morrow and Ronnie Matthews. Services are
under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral
Home of Norman, Oklahoma.
Mr. Bucher was born July 25, 1935 in Oklahoma City,
Oklahoma, to Leonard Eugene and Berniece Bucher. The family
moved to Norman in 1935, where he grew up and graduated from
Norman High School in 1953. He worked for L & A Auto Parts store
for twenty five years. He then owned and operated Noble Auto Parts
for four years. Mr. Bucher married Bobbie Louise Smith on June 8,
1966 at the Goodrich Memorial United Methodist Church in Norman,
Oklahoma. Before he retired in 1998, Mr. Bucher worked three
years as a Master R.V. Tech for Floyd Camper. He served as a
Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America with Troop 237. Mr.
Bucher also in the U.S. Army. He loved to fish, enjoyed nature and
bowling and his family. He was a member of the First Free Will
Baptist of Norman, Oklahoma.
Mr. Bucher was preceded in death by his father, Leonard E.
Bucher and brother, John Bucher. Survivors include his wife, Bobbie
of the home; one son, Mark E. Bucher and wife, Carole of Gallup,
NM; one daughter, Marci A. Hartman and husband, Philip of Chester,
VA; mother, Berniece Bucher of Norman, OK; one brother, Edward
Bucher and wife, Carrie of Chelsea, OK; and four grandchildren,
Gunnar Bucher, Fisher Bucher, Tucker Bucher and Logan Hartman.
